ਸਾਈ ਜਾਇ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲਿ ਜਿਥੈ ਹੀ ਤਉ ਵੰਞਣਾ ॥੫੮॥
saa-ee jaa-ay samHaal jithai hee ta-o vanjnaa. ||58||
and remember that place where you have to go ultimately. ||58||
ਉਹ ਥਾਂ ਭੀ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖ ਜਿਥੇ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ ॥੫੮॥
ਫਰੀਦਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਕੰਮੀ ਨਾਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਕੰਮੜੇ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ॥
fareedaa jinHee kammee naahi gun tay kammrhay visaar.
O’ Farid, renounce those deeds which are not beneficial for the righteous life,
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਉਹ ਕੋਝੇ ਕੰਮ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਜਿੰਦ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕੋਈ) ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ,
ਮਤੁ ਸਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਥੀਵਹੀ ਸਾਂਈ ਦੈ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥੫੯॥
mat sarmindaa theevhee saaN-ee dai darbaar. ||59||
lest you are put to shame in God’s presence. ||59||
ਮਤਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਣਾ ਪਏ ॥੫੯॥
ਫਰੀਦਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਕਰਿ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਲਾਹਿ ਭਰਾਂਦਿ ॥
fareedaa saahib dee kar chaakree dil dee laahi bharaaNd.
O’ Farid, dispel the doubts of your mind and engage in remembering the Master-God with adoration,
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਲਕ -ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਕਰ,
ਦਰਵੇਸਾਂ ਨੋ ਲੋੜੀਐ ਰੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਰਾਂਦਿ ॥੬੦॥
darvaysaaN no lorhee-ai rukhaaN dee jeeraaNd. ||60||
because pious persons need to have unlimited patience like trees. ||60||
ਫ਼ਕੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਤਾਂ) ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਰਗਾ ਜਿਗਰਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬੦॥
ਫਰੀਦਾ ਕਾਲੇ ਮੈਡੇ ਕਪੜੇ ਕਾਲਾ ਮੈਡਾ ਵੇਸੁ ॥
fareedaa kaalay maiday kaprhay kaalaa maidaa vays.
O’ Farid, my clothes are black, rather my entire outfit is black like a muslim fakir,
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਮੇਰੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਕਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰਾ (ਤਾਂ) ਸਾਰਾ ਵੇਸ ਹੀ ਕਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਨਹੀ ਭਰਿਆ ਮੈ ਫਿਰਾ ਲੋਕੁ ਕਹੈ ਦਰਵੇਸੁ ॥੬੧॥
gunhee bhari-aa mai firaa lok kahai darvays. ||61||
but I am roaming around full of vices and people call me a pious person. ||61||
ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਨਾਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਕੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬੧॥
ਤਤੀ ਤੋਇ ਨ ਪਲਵੈ ਜੇ ਜਲਿ ਟੁਬੀ ਦੇਇ ॥
tatee to-ay na palvai jay jal tubee day-ay.
The crop burnt by waterlogging doesn’t revive, even if it is soaked in water.
ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੜੀ ਹੋਈ (ਖੇਤੀ ਫਿਰ) ਹਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, ਭਾਵੇਂ (ਉਸ ਖੇਤੀ ਨੂੰ) ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ (ਕੋਈ) ਡੋਬਾ ਦੇ ਦੇਵੇ।
ਫਰੀਦਾ ਜੋ ਡੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਰਬ ਦੀ ਝੂਰੇਦੀ ਝੂਰੇਇ ॥੬੨॥
fareedaa jo dohaagan rab dee jhooraydee jooray-ay. ||62||
O’ Farid, similarly that unfortunate person who is separated from God even while remaining in the holy congregation, regrets and grieves forever. ||62||
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾ ਜੋ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਰੱਬ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਛਤਾਉਂਦੀ ਤੇ ਅਫਸੋਸ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੬੨॥
ਜਾਂ ਕੁਆਰੀ ਤਾ ਚਾਉ ਵੀਵਾਹੀ ਤਾਂ ਮਾਮਲੇ ॥
jaaN ku-aaree taa chaa-o veevaahee taaN maamlay.
When a girl is unmarried, she has a keen longing (to get married), but after she is married, she has to deal with the challenges of marriage.
ਜਦੋਂ (ਲੜਕੀ) ਕੁਆਰੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਆਹ ਦਾ) ਚਾਉ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ) ਵਿਆਹੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੰਜਾਲ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਫਰੀਦਾ ਏਹੋ ਪਛੋਤਾਉ ਵਤਿ ਕੁਆਰੀ ਨ ਥੀਐ ॥੬੩॥
fareedaa ayho pachhotaa-o vat ku-aaree na thee-ai. ||63||
O’ Farid, then she has this main regret that she cannot be unmarried again (similarly when a devotee faces worldly problems on the righteous path, he feels disheartened). ||63||
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਹੀ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਕੁਆਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਚਾਉ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ) ॥੬੩॥
ਕਲਰ ਕੇਰੀ ਛਪੜੀ ਆਇ ਉਲਥੇ ਹੰਝ ॥
kalar kayree chhaprhee aa-ay ulthay hanjh.
If some swans happen to land on a salty pool,
ਜੇ ਕੱਲਰ ਦੀ ਛੱਪਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੰਸ ਆ ਉਤਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਚਿੰਜੂ ਬੋੜਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਨਾ ਪੀਵਹਿ ਉਡਣ ਸੰਦੀ ਡੰਝ ॥੬੪॥
chinjoo borhniH naa peeveh udan sandee danjh. ||64||
they dip their beak into the water, but they don’t drink (this dirty water), and remain anxious to fly away (similarly if true devotees happens to come in the company of sinners, they don’t get influenced and long to get out of it. ||64||
ਉਹ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ) ਚੁੰਝ ਡੋਬਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਪਰ, ਉਹ ਮੈਲਾ ਪਾਣੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਪੀਂਦੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਥੋਂ ਉੱਡ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੬੪॥
ਹੰਸੁ ਉਡਰਿ ਕੋਧ੍ਰੈ ਪਇਆ ਲੋਕੁ ਵਿਡਾਰਣਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
hans udar koDhrai pa-i-aa lok vidaaran jaa-ay.
If a swan happens to land on a field of coarse grain, people go to chase it (similarly when a saintly person goes to a sinner, people talk bad about him).
ਹੰਸ ਉੱਡ ਕੇ ਕੋਧਰੇ ਦੀ ਪੈਲੀ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਬੈਠਾ ਤਾਂ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਡਾਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗਹਿਲਾ ਲੋਕੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੰਸੁ ਨ ਕੋਧ੍ਰਾ ਖਾਇ ॥੬੫॥
gahilaa lok na jaandaa hans na koDhraa khaa-ay. ||65||
The ignorant people don’t know that a swan doesn’t eat coarse grains (but people do not know that saintly people are not influenced by vices). ||65||
ਕਮਲੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੀ ਕਿ ਹੰਸ ਕੋਧਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ॥੬੫॥
ਚਲਿ ਚਲਿ ਗਈਆਂ ਪੰਖੀਆਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਵਸਾਏ ਤਲ ॥
chal chal ga-ee-aa pankhee-aaN jinHee vasaa-ay tal.
The birds who inhabit the lake, are going away turn by turn, (similarly the human beings whose habitat is this world are also departing):
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਜੀਵ-) ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਡਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-) ਤਲਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਾਰੀ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਟੁਰੀਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ;
ਫਰੀਦਾ ਸਰੁ ਭਰਿਆ ਭੀ ਚਲਸੀ ਥਕੇ ਕਵਲ ਇਕਲ ॥੬੬॥
fareedaa sar bhari-aa bhee chalsee thakay kaval ikal. ||66||
O’ Farid, this overflowing lake shall also dry up, and the lone lotus plants would wither away, (similarly all beautiful worldly things will also perish). ||66||
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! (ਇਹ ਜਗਤ-) ਸਰੋਵਰ ਭੀ ਸੁੱਕ ਜਾਇਗਾ ਤੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਇਕੱਲੇ ਕਉਲ ਫੁਲ ਭੀ ਕੁਮਲਾ ਜਾਣਗੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਹ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਸਭ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ) ॥੬੬॥
ਫਰੀਦਾ ਇਟ ਸਿਰਾਣੇ ਭੁਇ ਸਵਣੁ ਕੀੜਾ ਲੜਿਓ ਮਾਸਿ ॥
fareedaa it siraanay bhu-ay savan keerhaa larhi-o maas.
O’ Farid, after death you will be sleeping on bare ground in the grave with a brick under your head, and the worms will be consuming your flesh.
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਸਿਰ ਹੇਠ ਇੱਟ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ, ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ (ਭਾਵ, ਤੂੰ ਕਬਰ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁੱਤਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ, (ਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ) ਪਿੰਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੀੜੇ ਖਾਣਗੇ।
ਕੇਤੜਿਆ ਜੁਗ ਵਾਪਰੇ ਇਕਤੁ ਪਇਆ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੬੭॥
kayt-rhi-aa jug vaapray ikat pa-i-aa paas. ||67||
In this way, many ages will pass while you remain lying on a side without moving; therefore, now while alive do not be careless and remember God. ||67||
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਇੱਕੋ ਪਾਸੇ ਪਿਆਂ ਢੇਰ ਲੰਮਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਇਗਾ (ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਤਾਂ ਗ਼ਾਫ਼ਿਲ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਨਾ ਸਉਂ) ॥੬੭॥
ਫਰੀਦਾ ਭੰਨੀ ਘੜੀ ਸਵੰਨਵੀ ਟੁਟੀ ਨਾਗਰ ਲਜੁ ॥
fareedaa bhannee gharhee savannvee tutee naagar laj.
Look O’ Farid, the beautiful pitcher (body) of someone is broken, and the sublime thread of the breath is snapped,
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਵੇਖ, ਕਿਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ-ਰੂਪ) ਸੁੰਦਰ ਰੰਗ ਵਾਲਾ ਭਾਂਡਾ ਭੱਜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ (ਅਤੇ ਸੁਆਸਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੋਹਣੀ ਲੱਜ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ,
ਅਜਰਾਈਲੁ ਫਰੇਸਤਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਨਾਠੀ ਅਜੁ ॥੬੮॥
ajraa-eel faraystaa kai ghar naathee aj. ||68||
and ajraa-eel, the angel of death, has arrived as a guest in his house? ||68||
ਅੱਜ ਕਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ (ਮੌਤ ਦਾ) ਫ਼ਰਿਸਤਾ ਅਜ਼ਰਾਈਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਹੁਣਾ ਹੈ? ॥੬੮॥
ਫਰੀਦਾ ਭੰਨੀ ਘੜੀ ਸਵੰਨਵੀ ਟੂਟੀ ਨਾਗਰ ਲਜੁ ॥
fareedaa bhannee gharhee savannvee tootee naagar laj.
Look O’ Farid, the beautiful pitcher (body) of someone has broken, and the sublime thread of the breath has snapped,
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! (ਵੇਖ, ਕਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ-ਰੂਪ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਾਲਾ ਭਾਂਡਾ ਭੱਜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਸੁਆਸਾਂ-ਰੂਪ) ਸੋਹਣੀ ਲੱਜ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ|
ਜੋ ਸਜਣ ਭੁਇ ਭਾਰੁ ਥੇ ਸੇ ਕਿਉ ਆਵਹਿ ਅਜੁ ॥੬੯॥
jo sajan bhu-ay bhaar thay say ki-o aavahi aj. ||69||
those friends who were just a burden on this earth, how can they get a chance to come back as human beings? ||69||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ (ਨਿਰਾ) ਭਾਰ ਹੀ ਬਣੇ ਰਹੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਹ ਸਮਾ ਫਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ ॥੬੯॥
ਫਰੀਦਾ ਬੇ ਨਿਵਾਜਾ ਕੁਤਿਆ ਏਹ ਨ ਭਲੀ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
fareedaa bay nivaajaa kuti-aa ayh na bhalee reet.
O’ Farid, those who do not pray are like dogs and this way of their life cannot be considered a good one,
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਜੋ ਬੰਦੇ ਨਿਮਾਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੋ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਵਲੋਂ ਗ਼ਾਫ਼ਿਲ ਹਨ) ਉਹ ਕੁੱਤਿਆਂ (ਸਮਾਨ) ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਜੀਊਣ ਦਾ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਕਬਹੀ ਚਲਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ਪੰਜੇ ਵਖਤ ਮਸੀਤਿ ॥੭੦॥
kabhee chal na aa-i-aa panjay vakhat maseet. ||70||
(because) they never came to the mosque for the five daily prayers. ||70||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ) ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਮਾਜ਼ ਲਈ ਪੰਜੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਸੀਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ ॥੭੦॥
ਉਠੁ ਫਰੀਦਾ ਉਜੂ ਸਾਜਿ ਸੁਬਹ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਗੁਜਾਰਿ ॥
uth fareedaa ujoo saaj subah nivaaj gujaar.
O’ Farid, wake up, wash your face, hands and feet, and recite your morning prayer.
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਉੱਠ, ਹੱਥ ਪੈਰ ਤੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਧੋ, ਤੇ ਸਵੇਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਮਾਜ਼ ਪੜ੍ਹ।
ਜੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਸਾਂਈ ਨਾ ਨਿਵੈ ਸੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਕਪਿ ਉਤਾਰਿ ॥੭੧॥
jo sir saaN-ee naa nivai so sir kap utaar. ||71||
Chop off that head which doesn’t bow to the Master-God. ||71||
ਜੋ ਸਿਰ ਮਾਲਕ-ਰੱਬ ਅੱਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਿਊਂਦਾ, ਉਹ ਸਿਰ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਲਾਹ ਦੇਹ ॥੭੧॥
ਜੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਸਾਈ ਨਾ ਨਿਵੈ ਸੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਕਾਂਇ ॥
jo sir saa-ee naa nivai so sir keejai kaaN-ay.
That head who does not bow to the Master-God, is of no use.
ਜੋ ਸਿਰ (ਬੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਚ) ਮਾਲਕ-ਰੱਬ ਅੱਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਿਊਂਦਾ, ਉਸ ਸਿਰ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਕੁੰਨੇ ਹੇਠਿ ਜਲਾਈਐ ਬਾਲਣ ਸੰਦੈ ਥਾਇ ॥੭੨॥
kunnay hayth jalaa-ee-ai baalan sandai thaa-ay. ||72||
It should be burnt in place of firewood under the cooking pot. ||72||
ਉਸ ਸਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਂਡੀ ਹੇਠ ਬਾਲਣ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਬਾਲ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਏ ॥੭੨॥
ਫਰੀਦਾ ਕਿਥੈ ਤੈਡੇ ਮਾਪਿਆ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਤੂ ਜਣਿਓਹਿ ॥
fareedaa kithai taiday maapi-aa jinHee too jani-ohi.
O’ Farid, where are your parents who gave birth to you?
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਤੇਰੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਾਪੇ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਸੀ?
ਤੈ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਓਇ ਲਦਿ ਗਏ ਤੂੰ ਅਜੈ ਨ ਪਤੀਣੋਹਿ ॥੭੩॥
tai paashu o-ay lad ga-ay tooN ajai na pateenohi. ||73||
They departed from you a long time ago, but you are still not convinced (that you too will depart from here). ||73||
ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਾਪੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਦੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ; ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅਜੇ ਭੀ ਯਕੀਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ (ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਇਥੋਂ ਤੁਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ) ॥੭੩॥
ਫਰੀਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਮੈਦਾਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਟੋਏ ਟਿਬੇ ਲਾਹਿ ॥
fareedaa man maidaan kar to-ay tibay laahi.
O’ Farid, smooth out the highs and lows of your mind and flatten its ego,
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਧਰਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਹ (ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ) ਉੱਚੇ ਨੀਵੇਂ ਥਾਂ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਹ,
ਅਗੈ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਵਸੀ ਦੋਜਕ ਸੰਦੀ ਭਾਹਿ ॥੭੪॥
agai mool na aavsee dojak sandee bhaahi. ||74||
then the fire of hell (miseries) won’t bother you in the journey of your life. ||74||
ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਦੋਜ਼ਕ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਵੇਗੀ ॥੭੪॥

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਖਾਲਕੁ ਖਲਕ ਮਹਿ ਖਲਕ ਵਸੈ ਰਬ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
fareedaa khaalak khalak meh khalak vasai rab maahi.
O’ Farid, the Creator is pervading the entire creation, and the creation dwells in the Creator.
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! (ਖ਼ਲਕਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਸਾਰੀ) ਖ਼ਲਕਤ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਖ਼ਲਕਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਮੰਦਾ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਾਂ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੭੫॥
mandaa kis no aakhee-ai jaaN tis bin ko-ee naahi. ||75||
Therefore, whom should we call bad? Because there is no one who does not have God in Him. ||75||
ਜਦੋਂ (ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ) ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਾੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ| ॥੭੫॥
ਫਰੀਦਾ ਜਿ ਦਿਹਿ ਨਾਲਾ ਕਪਿਆ ਜੇ ਗਲੁ ਕਪਹਿ ਚੁਖ ॥
fareedaa je dihi naalaa kapi-aa jay gal kapeh chukh.
O’ Farid, the day, the nurse cut my umbilical cord, if she had slit my throat a bit,
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਦਾਈ ਨੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾੜੂ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਸੀ, ਜੇ ਰਤਾ ਕੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਗਲ ਵੱਢ ਦੇਂਦੀ,
ਪਵਨਿ ਨ ਇਤੀ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਸਹਾਂ ਨ ਇਤੀ ਦੁਖ ॥੭੬॥
pavan na itee maamlay sahaaN na itee dukh. ||76||
then I would neither have got entangled in so many troubles, nor I would have to bear so many miseries. ||76||
ਤਾਂ ਨਾਹ ਇਤਨੇ ਝੰਬੇਲੇ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਇਤਨੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ॥੭੬॥
ਚਬਣ ਚਲਣ ਰਤੰਨ ਸੇ ਸੁਣੀਅਰ ਬਹਿ ਗਏ ॥
chaban chalan ratann say sunee-ar bahi ga-ay.
My teeth, legs, eyes and the ears have all ceased functioning.
ਮੇਰੇ ਦੰਦ, ਲੱਤਾਂ, ਅੱਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਕੰਨ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨੋਂ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਹੇੜੇ ਮੁਤੀ ਧਾਹ ਸੇ ਜਾਨੀ ਚਲਿ ਗਏ ॥੭੭॥
hayrhay mutee Dhaah say jaanee chal ga-ay. ||77||
My body has cried out in pain upon seeing the departure of my friends (my teeth, legs, eyes and the ears which are not functioning anymore). ||77||
ਇਸ) ਸਰੀਰ ਨੇ ਢਾਹ ਮਾਰੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੀ ਸਰੀਰ ਹੁਣ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,) ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਹ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਤੁਰ ਗਏ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਕੰਮ ਦੇਣੋਂ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਹਨ). ॥੭੭॥
ਫਰੀਦਾ ਬੁਰੇ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਗੁਸਾ ਮਨਿ ਨ ਹਢਾਇ ॥
fareedaa buray daa bhalaa kar gusaa man na hadhaa-ay.
O’ Farid, do good even to the one who harms you, and do not harbor anger in your mind,
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਬੁਰਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਕਰ। ਗੁੱਸਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਹ ਆਉਣ ਦੇਹ,
