ਹੈ ਕੋਊ ਐਸਾ ਮੀਤੁ ਜਿ ਤੋਰੈ ਬਿਖਮ ਗਾਂਠਿ ॥
hai ko-oo aisaa meet je torai bikham gaaNth.
Is there a holy friend who may untie one’s difficult knot of love for Maya.
ਕੀ ਕੋਈ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਜੀਵ-ਭੌਰੇ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਪਈ ਹੋਈ ਪੱਕੀ ਗੰਢ ਤੋੜ ਦੇਵੇ? ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕੁ ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰ ਨਾਥੁ ਜਿ ਟੂਟੇ ਲੇਇ ਸਾਂਠਿ ॥੧੫॥
naanak ik sareeDhar naath je tootay lay-ay saaNth. ||15||
O’ Nanak, only God, the venerable Master of the earth, reunites the separated ones with Himself. ||15||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਲੱਛਮੀ-ਦਾ-ਆਸਰਾ (ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ) ਨਾਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਗੰਢ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੫॥
ਧਾਵਉ ਦਸਾ ਅਨੇਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾਰਣੇ ॥
Dhaava-o dasaa anayk paraym parabh kaarnay.
I run around in many directions to win God’s love,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਕਈ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਦੌੜਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਪੰਚ ਸਤਾਵਹਿ ਦੂਤ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਾਰਣੇ ॥
panch sataaveh doot kavan biDh maarnay.
but the five demons (lust, anger, greed, attachment, and ego) are tormenting me so much that I wonder how I can destroy them?
(ਪਰ ਇਹ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜ ਵੈਰੀ ਸਤਾਂਦੇ (ਹੀ) ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਕਿਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਏ?
ਤੀਖਣ ਬਾਣ ਚਲਾਇ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧ੍ਯ੍ਯਾਈਐ ॥
teekhan baan chalaa-ay naam parabh Dha-yaa-ee-ai.
We should lovingly remember God’s Name and shoot the sharp arrows of God’s remembrance at them:
(ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਸਦਾ) ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੇ) ਤ੍ਰਿੱਖੇ ਤੀਰ ਚਲਾ ਕੇ-
ਹਰਿਹਾਂ ਮਹਾਂ ਬਿਖਾਦੀ ਘਾਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧੬॥
harihaaN mahaaN bikhaadee ghaat pooran gur paa-ee-ai. ||16||
O’ my friend, these extremely evil vices can be destroyed after meeting and following the teachings of the perfect Guru. ||16||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਨ ਤੇ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਵੱਡੇ ਝਗੜਾਲੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ (ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧੬॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਨਿਖੁਟਈ ॥
satgur keenee daat mool na nikhuta-ee.
The benefaction of God’s Name bestowed by the Guru, never gets depleted.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਈ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ- ਦਾਤ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ l
ਖਾਵਹੁ ਭੁੰਚਹੁ ਸਭਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਛੁਟਈ ॥
kaavahu bhunchahu sabh gurmukh chhut-ee.
O’ my friends , you may all consume it; the Guru’s follower is emancipated from vices by consuming this gift.
ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸ ਦਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਵਰਤੋ। (ਸਗੋਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਦਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਵਰਤਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਦਿਤਾ ਤੁਸਿ ਹਰਿ ॥
amrit naam niDhaan ditaa tus har.
Being pleased, God has blessed you with the treasure of His ambrosial Name.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ (ਇਹ) ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਜਾਂਹਿ ਮਰਿ ॥੧੭॥
naanak sadaa araaDh kaday na jaaNhi mar. ||17||
O’ Nanak, say, O’ brother, you always remember God with adoration, and you would never deteriorate spiritually. ||17||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਦਾ ਇਸ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਵੇਗੀ ॥੧੭॥
ਜਿਥੈ ਜਾਏ ਭਗਤੁ ਸੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਾ ॥
jithai jaa-ay bhagat so thaan suhaavanaa.
Any place where the devotee of God goes, becomes pleasing and blessed,
ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ (ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਭਗਤ ਜਾ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਥਾਂ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਗਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਸੁਖ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਾ ॥
saglay ho-ay sukh har naam Dhi-aavanaa.
inner peace and all comforts prevails all around there (because in the company of the devotee), many others start lovingly remembering God’s Name.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ (ਉਥੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੀਅ ਕਰਨਿ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਮੁਏ ਪਚਿ ॥
jee-a karan jaikaar nindak mu-ay pach.
Everybody there hails the devotee, but the slanderers deteriorate spiritually, being consumed with jealousy.
ਉਥੇ ਆਂਢ-ਗੁਆਂਢ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਜੀਅ ਭਗਤ ਦੀ ਜੈਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਈਰਖਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ) ਸੜ ਸੜ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਾਜਨ ਮਨਿ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ॥੧੮॥
saajan man aanand naanak naam jap. ||18||
O’ Nanak, spiritual bliss prevails in the minds of pious friends by lovingly remembering God’s Name. ||18||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਸੱਜਣ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੮॥
ਪਾਵਨ ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਕਤਹ ਨਹੀ ਸੇਵੀਐ ॥
paavan patit puneet katah nahee sayvee-ai.
Those people who never remember the immaculate God, the savior of the worst sinners,
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ,
ਝੂਠੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਖੁਆਰੁ ਕਹਾਂ ਲਗੁ ਖੇਵੀਐ ॥
jhoothai rang khu-aar kahaaN lag khayvee-ai.
ruined by the false worldly pleasure, how long can they keep rowing the boat of their life?
ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚ ਖੁਆਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਬੇੜੀ ਕਦ ਤਕ ਚਲਾਈ ਜਾਣਗੇ?
ਹਰਿਚੰਦਉਰੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
harichand-uree paykh kaahay sukh maani-aa.
O’ being, why are you so happy to see those illusory pleasures, which are short-lived like castles in the sky?
ਹੇ ਜੀਵ, (ਮਾਇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ) ਹਵਾਈ ਕਿਲ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ?
ਹਰਿਹਾਂ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿੰਨ ਜਿ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੧੯॥
harihaaN ha-o balihaaree tinn je dargahi jaani-aa. ||19||
O’ my friend, I am dedicated to those who have been approved in God’s presence. ||19||
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ, ਮੈਂ (ਤਾਂ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਕਾਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੯॥
ਕੀਨੇ ਕਰਮ ਅਨੇਕ ਗਵਾਰ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਘਨ ॥
keenay karam anayk gavaar bikaar ghan.
A foolish person performs many sinful deeds.
ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਕੁਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਹਾ ਦ੍ਰੁਗੰਧਤ ਵਾਸੁ ਸਠ ਕਾ ਛਾਰੁ ਤਨ ॥
mahaa darugaNDhat vaas sath kaa chhaar tan.
The fool lives amidst the atmosphere of the most sinful deeds, and his body is so full of bad habits, as if it has become a heap of ashes.
ਵੱਡੇ ਕੁਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਰੁਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਫਿਰਤਉ ਗਰਬ ਗੁਬਾਰਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਨਹ ਜਾਨਈ ॥
firta-o garab gubaar maran nah jaan-ee.
Such a person roams around puffed up with egotistical pride and never thinks of his death.
(ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਿਆ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ (ਭੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਝਦੀ।
ਹਰਿਹਾਂ ਹਰਿਚੰਦਉਰੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਸਚੁ ਮਾਨਈ ॥੨੦॥
harihaaN harichand-uree paykh kaahay sach maan-ee. ||20||
O’ my friend, I wonder why he feels that false illusions which are like castles in the air, are true and permanent? ||20||
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ, ਇਸ ਹਵਾਈ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਹ ਕਿਉਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਮੰਨੀ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ? ॥੨੦॥
ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਪੂਜੈ ਅਉਧ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਉਣੁ ਰਾਖਈ ॥
jis kee poojai a-oDh tisai ka-un raakh-ee.
One whose end of life has come, who can save him?
ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਦੀ (ਉਮਰ ਦੀ) ਆਖ਼ਰੀ ਹੱਦ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੌਣ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਬੈਦਕ ਅਨਿਕ ਉਪਾਵ ਕਹਾਂ ਲਉ ਭਾਖਈ ॥
baidak anik upaav kahaaN la-o bhaakh-ee.
How long can a physician keep suggesting various remedies?
ਹਿਕਮਤ-ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਢੰਗ (ਨੁਸਖ਼ੇ) ਕਿੱਥੋਂ ਤਕ (ਕੋਈ) ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਏਕੋ ਚੇਤਿ ਗਵਾਰ ਕਾਜਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਆਵਈ ॥
ayko chayt gavaar kaaj tayrai aavee.
O’ fool, remember God with devotion because only He really helps all the time.
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਉਹ ਹੀ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਤੇਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿਹਾਂ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਤਨੁ ਛਾਰੁ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਾਵਈ ॥੨੧॥
harihaaN bin naavai tan chhaar baritha sabh jaav-ee. ||21||
O’ my friend, without remembering God’s Name the body is worthless like dust, and it all goes to waste. ||21||
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਮਿੱਟੀ (ਸਮਾਨ) ਹੈ, ਸਾਰਾ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੧॥
ਅਉਖਧੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਪੀਜਈ ॥
a-ukhaDh naam apaar amolak peej-ee.
God’s Name is an incredible and priceless medicine for taking care of spiritual diseases and one should drink it in association with holy company.
ਆਤਮਕ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਦਵਾਈ ਹੈ, ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਦਵਾਈ ਹੈ। (ਇਹ ਦਵਾਈ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ) ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਲਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਖਾਵਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਸਗਲ ਕਉ ਦੀਜਈ ॥
mil mil khaaveh sant sagal ka-o deej-ee.
Joining together, the saints take this medicine of Naam themselves and distribute it to all fortunate ones who are present there.
(ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਸਦਾ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਵਾਈ) ਖਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਜਿਹੜੇ ਭੀ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ) ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਦਵਾਈ) ਵੰਡੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸੈ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਤਿਸੈ ਹੀ ਪਾਵਣੇ ॥
jisai paraapat ho-ay tisai hee paavnay.
But only that person is blessed with this medicine, who is destined to receive it.
ਪਰ ਉਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿਹਾਂ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਜਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਰਾਵਣੇ ॥੨੨॥
harihaaN ha-o balihaaree tinH je har rang raavnay. ||22||
O’ my friend, I am dedicated to those who rejoice in the love of God. ||22||
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ, ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨੨॥
ਵੈਦਾ ਸੰਦਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਇਕਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ॥
vaidaa sandaa sang ikthaa ho-i-aa.
When physicians, the saints, who protect people from spiritual deterioration get together,
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਹਕੀਮਾਂ (ਸੰਤ-ਜਨਾਂ) ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਅਉਖਦ ਆਏ ਰਾਸਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਪਿ ਖਲੋਇਆ ॥
a-ukhad aa-ay raas vich aap khalo-i-aa.
the medicine of Naam proves beneficial to all because God Himself is present amidst them.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਤੇ ਦੱਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ) ਦਵਾਈ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਆਪਣਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਅਸਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਇਕੱਠ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਓਨਾ ਕਰਮ ਸੁਕਰਮ ਹੋਇ ਪਸਰਿਆ ॥
jo jo onaa karam sukaram ho-ay pasri-aa.
Whatever deeds they do daily, prove to be the sublime deeds and examples for others,
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਨਿੱਤ ਦੇ ਕਰਤੱਬ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਏ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ) ਵਧੀਆ ਪੂਰਨੇ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹਰਿਹਾਂ ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਸਭਿ ਪਾਪ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਖਿਸਰਿਆ ॥੨੩॥
harihaaN dookh rog sabh paap tan tay khisri-aa. ||23||
O’ my friend, then all sorrows, ailments and sins vanish from the body of the fortunate devotees participating in that holy company. ||23||
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ, (ਇਸੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਏ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਆਂ ਦੇ) ਸਰੀਰ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨੩॥

Chaubolas, Fifth Guru:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਮਨ ਜਉ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀ ਦਮ ਕ੍ਯ੍ਯਿਹੁ ਹੋਤੀ ਸਾਟ ॥
samman ja-o is paraym kee dam ki-yahoo hotee saat.
O’ a philanthropist, if it was possible to exchange God’s love for money,
ਹੇ ਦਾਨੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ! ਜੇ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦਾ ਵਟਾਂਦਰਾ ਧਨ ਤੋਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਰਾਵਨ ਹੁਤੇ ਸੁ ਰੰਕ ਨਹਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਰ ਦੀਨੇ ਕਾਟਿ ॥੧॥
raavan hutay so rank neh jin sir deenay kaat. ||1||
then the king Ravana who was not poor, wouldn’t have to surrender himself (for the god Shiva’s blessings, he could have exchanged it for money). ||1||
ਤਾਂ ਉਹ (ਰਾਵਣ) ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਗਿਆਰਾਂ ਵਾਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਿਰ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ (ਸਿਰ ਦੇਣ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਧਨ ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਰਾਵਣ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ॥੧॥
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਤਨੁ ਖਚਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬੀਚੁ ਨ ਰਾਈ ਹੋਤ ॥
pareet paraym tan khach rahi-aa beech na raa-ee hot.
A person whose heart is immersed in God’s love, there is not an iota of distance between him and his beloved God,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ (ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੇ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਵਿੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ,
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਓ ਬੂਝਨੁ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥੨॥
charan kamal man bayDhi-o boojhan surat sanjog. ||2||
his mind is pierced through with God’s immaculate Name, but one understands this if his mind is truly focused on beloved God. ||2||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਝਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,ਪਰ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਤਾਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੀ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੨॥
