ਪੰਕਜ ਮੋਹ ਨਿਘਰਤੁ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਨਿਘਰਤ ਕਾਢਿ ਕਢਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
pankaj moh nighrat hai paraanee gur nighrat kaadh kadhaavaigo.
Usually one keeps sinking in the swamp of worldly attachments, but the Guru pulls him out and saves him from sinking in this swamp.
ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਖੋਭੇ ਵਿਚ ਖੁੱਭਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ (ਇਸ ਖੋਭੇ ਵਿਚ) ਖੁੱਭ ਰਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਖੋਭੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਬੰਨੇ ਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਜਨ ਆਏ ਗੁਰੁ ਹਾਥੀ ਦੇ ਨਿਕਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੪॥
taraahi taraahi saran jan aa-ay gur haathee day niklaavaigo. ||4||
But those who come crying for help to the Guru’s refuge, by extending his hand (the support of his teachings) he pulls them out of the swamp of Maya. ||4||
ਬਚਾ ਲੈ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ’-ਇਹ ਆਖਦੇ (ਜਿਹੜੇ) ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਸਰਨ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਫੜਾ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਕੜ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਸੁਪਨੰਤਰੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਬਾਜੀ ਸਭੁ ਬਾਜੀ ਖੇਲੁ ਖਿਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
supnantar sansaar sabh baajee sabh baajee khayl khilaavaigo.
This entire world is like a game of mind as seen in the dream, and God is making us participate in this worldly play.
ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ (ਦਾ ਮੂਲ) ਹੈ, (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਚਾਣ ਲਈ) ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ (ਇਕ) ਖੇਡ (ਜਿਹੀ ਹੀ) ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਖੇਡ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ) ਖਿਡਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਲੈ ਚਾਲਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਧਾ ਜਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੫॥
laahaa naam gurmat lai chaalahu har dargeh paiDhaa jaavaigo. ||5||
Follow the Guru’s teachings, amass and depart from here with the profit of God’s Name, and one who does, he goes to God’s presence with honor. ||5||
(ਇਸ ਖੇਡ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਲਾਭ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਲਾਭ ਖੱਟ ਕੇ ਜਾਵੋ। (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਲਾਭ ਖੱਟ ਕੇ ਇਥੋਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰੈ ਕਰਾਵੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਪਾਪ ਕੋਇਲੇ ਆਨਿ ਜਮਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
ha-umai karai karaavai ha-umai paap ko-ilay aan jamaavaigo.
One who does deeds intoxicated with ego, or makes others to satisfy his ego, he is amassing sins as if he sowing coal like dark sins in the farm of his mind.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਹਉਂ ਹਉਂ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਨਸਿਕ ਖੇਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਪ ਕੋਲੇ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਬੀਜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਇਆ ਕਾਲੁ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ਹੋਏ ਜੋ ਬੀਜੇ ਸੋ ਖਵਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੬॥
aa-i-aa kaal dukh-daa-ee ho-ay jo beejay so khalaavaigo. ||6||
When death comes, the sins which one committed in his life, become the cause of agony; nothing can be done, because one must eat what he had sown. ||6||
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੌ ਤ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ; (ਉਹ ਬੀਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਮਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਪਾਪ) ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪਰ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੀਹ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?) ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕੋਲੇ-ਪਾਪ ਬੀਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਖਾਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਸੰਤਹੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਲੈ ਖਰਚੁ ਚਲੇ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
santahu raam naam Dhan sanchahu lai kharach chalay pat paavaigo.
O’ saints, amass the wealth of God’s Name, those who start the journey of life with this provision, receive honor in God’s presence.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ, (ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਰਤਣ ਲਈ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਰਚ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ-ਮਾਣ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਖਾਇ ਖਰਚਿ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਦੇ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈਗੋ ॥੭॥
khaa-ay kharach dayveh bahutayraa har dayday tot na aavaigo. ||7||
Such is the wealth of God’s Name that they never feel shortage by consuming it and abundantly sharing with others. ||7||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਆਪ ਖੁਲ੍ਹਾ ਵਰਤ ਕੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੰਡਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਦੇ ਵੰਡਦਿਆਂ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ॥੭॥
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਹੈ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
raam naam Dhan hai rid antar Dhan gur sarnaa-ee paavaigo.
The wealth of God’s Name is present within every heart, but it is realized only by following the Guru’s teachings.
ਹਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਇਆ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਦਾਲਦੁ ਭੰਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੮॥੫॥
naanak da-i-aa da-i-aa kar deenee dukh daalad bhanj samaavaigo. ||8||5||
O Nanak, bestowing mercy, whom God has given this wealth of Naam, ending all agony and sense of destitution, he remains merged with God. ||8||5||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਗਰੀਬੀ ਮੁਕਾ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥੫॥

Raag Kaanraa, Fourth Guru:
ਮਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਨਿ ਧਿਆਵੈਗੋ ॥
man satgur saran Dhi-aavaigo.
By focusing his mind on the Guru’s teachings, one who lovingly remembers God,
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਲੋਹਾ ਹਿਰਨੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਰਸ ਗੁਨੁ ਪਾਰਸ ਕੋ ਹੋਇ ਆਵੈਗੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ohaa hiran hovai sang paaras gun paaras ko ho-ay aavaigo. ||1|| rahaa-o.
is life becomes righteous, it is like iron becoming Gold and acquiring the property of mythical philosopher’s stone by coming in touch with it. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਉੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਪਾਰਸ ਨਾਲ (ਛੁਹ ਕੇ) ਲੋਹਾ ਸੋਨਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਾਰਸ ਦੀ ਛੁਹ ਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਜੋ ਲਾਗੈ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
satgur mahaa purakh hai paaras jo laagai so fal paavaigo.
The true Guru is great and is like a mythical philosopher’s stone, whosoever comes in contact with him receives the fruit of God’s Name.
ਗੁਰੂ (ਭੀ) ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਭੀ) ਪਾਰਸ ਹੈ। ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ) ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ) ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਉ ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਤਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਕ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੧॥
ji-o gur updays taray par-hilaadaa gur sayvak paij rakhaavaigo. ||1||
Just as devotees like Prahlaad were saved by the Guru’s teachings, similarly the Guru protects the honor of His devotee. ||1||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ (ਆਦਿਕ ਕਈ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ। ਤਿਵੇਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੁ ਬਚਨੁ ਹੈ ਨੀਕੋ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
satgur bachan bachan hai neeko gur bachnee amrit paavaigo.
The word of the true Guru is sublime; it is through the Guru’s word that one receives the nectar of God’s Name.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਬੜਾ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਉ ਅੰਬਰੀਕਿ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦ ਪਾਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੁਖ ਬਚਨ ਧਿਆਵੈਗੋ ॥੨॥
ji-o ambreek amraa pad paa-ay satgur mukh bachan Dhi-aavaigo. ||2||
Just as king Ambreek attained immortal status, similarly one who reflects upon the words uttered by the true Guru attains supreme spiritual state. ||2||
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਿਆ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅੰਬਰੀਕ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੨॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਨਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਧਾ ਸੁਧਾ ਕਰਿ ਧਿਆਵੈਗੋ ॥
satgur saran saran man bhaa-ee suDhaa suDhaa kar Dhi-aavaigo.
To whose mind the true Guru’s refuge is pleasing, he considers the Guru’s word as spiritually rejuvenating and keeps reflecting on it.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿਣਾ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਸੰਦ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਨੂੰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ-ਦਾਤਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਚੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਸਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦਇਆਲ ਦੀਨ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪੰਥੁ ਦਿਖਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੩॥
da-i-aal deen bha-ay hai satgur har maarag panth dikhaavaigo. ||3||
The true Guru is merciful to the weak and powerless and he shows the path to unite with God. ||3|
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਵਿਖਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਏ ਸੇ ਥਾਪੇ ਤਿਨ ਰਾਖਨ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਵੈਗੋ ॥
satgur saran pa-ay say thaapay tin raakhan ka-o parabh aavaigo.
Those who seek the refuge of the true Guru, are honored with glory, and God Himself comes to save them.
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਪ ਬਹੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਸਰੁ ਸੰਧੈ ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਉਲਟੋ ਤਿਸੈ ਲਗਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੪॥
jay ko sar sanDhai jan oopar fir ulto tisai lagaavaigo. ||4||
If one aims an arrow towards the devotees, that arrow turns around to hit the shooter (if one tries to harm God’s devotees, he himself is destroyed). ||4||
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਤੀਰ ਚਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਤੀਰ ਪਰਤ ਕੇ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਆ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਨੁ ਦਿਵਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
har har har har har sar sayveh tin dargeh maan divaavaigo.
Those who always remember God in the sacred pool-like holy congregation, God gets them honored in His presence.
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਤਿਸੰਗ ਰੂਪੀ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਉਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਦਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਲਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੫॥
gurmat gurmat gurmat Dhi-aavahi har gal mil mayl milaavaigo. ||5||
Those who follow the Guru’s teachings and remember God, are embraced by God who unites them with Himself. ||5||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ-ਮਿਕ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਦੁ ਬੇਦੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਚੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈਗੋ ॥
gurmukh naad bayd hai gurmukh gur parchai naam Dhi-aavaigo.
For the Guru’s follower, the Guru’s word is the celestial music and the reading of Vedas; the Guru’s follower attains Guru’s pleasure by remembering God’s Name.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਹੀ ਨਾਦ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਹੀ ਵੇਦ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪੋ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਪੂਜ ਕਰਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੬॥
har har roop har roopo hovai har jan ka-o pooj karaavaigo. ||6||
Beholding the presence of God everywhere, that devotee acquires the qualities of God who makes His devotee worthy of worship. ||6||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਭੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਸਾਕਤ ਨਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੀਆ ਤੇ ਬੇਮੁਖ ਹਰਿ ਭਰਮਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
saakat nar satgur nahee kee-aa tay baymukh har bharmaavaigo.
The faithless cynics who have not sought the true Guru’s teachings, are condemned by God to wander aimlessly from birth to birth.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣਾ ਆਸਰਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਾਂਦੇ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਭਵਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਲੋਭ ਲਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਰੰਗਿ ਲਗਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੭॥
lobh lahar su-aan kee sangat bikh maa-i-aa karang lagaavaigo. ||7||T
he wave of greed in their mind is like the greed of a dog who keeps eating dead corpse; similarly, they remain clinging to Maya, the poison for spiritual life. ||7||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੋਭ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਚੱਲਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਲਹਿਰ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਦੇ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਵਰਗੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੁੱਤਾ ਮੁਰਦਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਲੋਭ-ਲਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ-ਜ਼ਹਰ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਬੜਿਆ ਰਹਿਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਕਾ ਤਾਰਕੁ ਲਗਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈਗੋ ॥
raam naam sabh jag kaa taarak lag sangat naam Dhi-aavaigo.
God’s Name is like a ship to ferry the entire world, one who joins the holy congregation and remembers God’s Name crosses the world-ocean of vices.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਸਮਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੮॥੬॥ ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥

O’ Nanak, pray! O my God, please protect me, because whom You keep in the holy congregation, he merges with You. ||8||6|| Chhakaa 1.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ) ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਅ ਲੈੈ ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਦਾਂ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥੬॥ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥
