ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
karam hovai gur kirpaa karai.
When a person is blessed by God, the Guru shows mercy on him;
ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ (ਜੀਵ ਉੱਤੇ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਜਾਗੈ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਰੈ ॥੪॥
ih man jaagai is man kee dubiDhaa marai. ||4||
his mind wakes up from the slumber of worldly attachments, and the duality of his mind vanishes. ||4||
ਤਾਂ (ਜੀਵ ਦਾ) ਇਹ ਮਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਮਨ ਕਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਸਦਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥
man kaa subhaa-o sadaa bairaagee.
The innate nature of the human mind is to remain forever detached from the worldly involvements,
(ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਦਾ ਅਸਲਾ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਸੈ ਅਤੀਤੁ ਅਨਰਾਗੀ ॥੫॥
sabh meh vasai ateet anraagee. ||5||
and it wants to remain attuned to that detached and dispassionate God, who resides in all . ||5||
ਜੋ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਵਿਰਕਤ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਿਰਮੋਹ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਭੇਉ ॥ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦੇਉ ॥੬॥੫॥
kahat naanak jo jaanai bhay-oaad purakh niranjan day-o. ||6||5||
Nanak says that one who understands this mystery of the human mind, becomes the embodiment of Primal, Immaculate God. ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਅਸਲੇ ਬਾਰੇ) ਇਹ ਭੇਤ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਾਪੂਰਬਲੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ, ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ॥੬॥੫॥

Bhairao, Third Guru:
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਗਤ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
raam naam jagat nistaaraa. bhavjal paar utaaranhaaraa. ||1||
God’s Name is the emancipator of the entire mankind; it is capable of carrying the mortals across the dreadful world-ocean of vices. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲਿ॥ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
gur parsaadee har naam samHaal. sad hee nibhai tayrai naal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Through Guru’s grace, enshrine God’s Name in your heart; it shall stand by you forever. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦਾ ਪਾਤ੍ਰ ਬਣ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸੰਭਾਲ। ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਥ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਗਾਵਾਰਾ ॥
naam na cheeteh manmukh gaavaaraa.
The foolish, self-willed persons do not remember God’s Name,
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੈਸੇ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਪਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
bin naavai kaisay paavahi paaraa. ||2||
how can they swim across over the world-ocean of Vices without Naam. ||2||
ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭੀ (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੰਘ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੨॥
ਆਪੇ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥
aapay daat karay daataar.
But it is the beneficent God Himself who bestows the gift of Naam;
(ਪਰ, ਇਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ) ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੇ ਕਉ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
dayvanhaaray ka-o jaikaar. ||3||
therefore, we should always acclaim the great beneficent God. ||3||
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਹੀ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ॥੪॥੬॥
nadar karay satguroo milaa-ay. naanak hirdai naam vasaa-ay. ||4||6||
O’ Nanak, on whom God bestows grace, He unites that person with the true Guru and then he enshrines Naam in his heart.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।॥੪॥੬॥
ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Raag Bhairao, Third Guru:
ਨਾਮੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਲੋਅ ॥
naamay uDhray sabh jitnay lo-a.
All the people of the universe who have been saved from vices, were saved only through Naam.
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
gurmukh jinaa paraapat ho-ay. ||1||
Those who follow the Guru’s teachings, are blessed with this gift of Naam by the Guru’s grace. ||1||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਅਪਣੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
har jee-o apnee kirpaa karay-i.
When God shows His mercy,
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gurmukh naam vadi-aa-ee day-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God blesses them with the glory of Naam through the Guru’s teachings. ||1||Pause||
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਾ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣਾ) ਨਾਮ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਜਿਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
raam naam jin pareet pi-aar.
Those who have love and affection for God’s Name,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ,
ਆਪਿ ਉਧਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਕੁਲ ਉਧਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
aap uDhray sabh kul uDhaaranhaar. ||2||
they emancipate themselves and become instrumental for emancipation of their entire lineage. ||2||
ਉਹ ਆਪ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਏ। (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ) ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੁਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਣ-ਜੋਗਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੨॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
bin naavai manmukh jam pur jaahi.
The self-willed persons who are without Naam, face the demon of death,
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਅਉਖੇ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
a-ukhay hoveh chotaa khaahi. ||3||
and live in constant agony and endure the blows of the demon of death. ||3||
ਉਹ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ, (ਤੇ ਨਿੱਤ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ) ਸੱਟਾਂ ਸਹਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੭॥
aapay kartaa dayvai so-ay. naanak naam paraapat ho-ay. ||4||7||
O’ Nanak, when the Creator bestows the gift of Naam to someone, only that person realizes Naam.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੭॥

ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਨਕਾਦਿਕ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥
govind pareet sankaadik uDhaaray.
O’ my friend, the love of God emancipated people like Sanak along with his three brothers (four sons of Brahma),
ਸਨਕ, ਸਨੰਦਨ, ਸਨਤਾਨ, ਸਨਤਕੁਮਾਰ-ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਦੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਚਾਰ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ- ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ (ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਪਿਆਰ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
raam naam sabad beechaaray. ||1||
because by reflecting on the Divine word they had meditated on God’s Naam. ||1||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਅਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੁ ॥
har jee-o apnee kirpaa Dhaar.
O’ dear God, please bless me with Your mercy,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਰੱਖ,
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gurmukh naamay lagai pi-aar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
so that I may get imbued with Your love by following the Guru’s teachings. ||1||Pause||
ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਮੇਰਾ) ਪਿਆਰ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
antar pareet bhagat saachee ho-ay.
O’ my friend, one who cultivates in his mind a true devotional worship and love for God,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ-ਭਗਤੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
poorai gur maylaavaa ho-ay. ||2||
he realizes God by following the teachings of the perfect Guru. ||2||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੩॥
nij ghar vasai sahj subhaa-ay. gurmukh naam vasai man aa-ay. ||3||
One in whose mind God’s Name manifests through the Guru’s teachings, he intuitively abides in a blissful state of mind.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਵੇਖਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
aapay vaykhai vaykhanhaar.
God who is capable of taking care of all beings, He Himself is looking after the needs of all.
ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਦੀ) ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਹੁ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੮॥
naanak naam rakhahu ur Dhaar. ||4||8||
O’ Nanak, keep His Name enshrined in your heart. ||4||8||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ॥੪॥੮॥

ਕਲਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੁ ॥

O’ my friend, in this dark age of kalyug, enshrine God’s Name in your heart,
ਇਸ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ-ਭਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਮਾਥੈ ਪਾਵੈ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
bin naavai maathai paavai chhaar. ||1||
because without enshrining God’s Name in the heart, one gets disgraced. ||1||
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ (ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦੀ) ਨਿਰਾਦਰੀ ਹੀ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੁਲਭੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ॥
raam naam dulabh hai bhaa-ee.
O’ my brothers, it is very difficult to realize God’s Name,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਹੋਰ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬੜੀ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur parsaad vasai man aa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
it manifests in the mind of only through the Guru’s grace. ||1||Pause||
(ਇਹ ਤਾਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਨ ਭਾਲਹਿ ਸੋਇ ॥
raam naam jan bhaaleh so-ay.
Only those devotees seek Naam,
ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
pooray gur tay paraapat ho-ay. ||2||
who are destined to receive it from the perfect Guru. ||2||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ (ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ) ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
har kaa bhaanaa maneh say jan parvaan.
The devotees who gladly accept God’s will are approved in God’s presence.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ (ਮਿੱਠਾ ਕਰਕੇ) ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਸਤਕਾਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਾਮ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
gur kai sabad naam neesaan. ||3||
Through the Guru’s Divine word, they are identified as the recipients of the gift of Naam. ||3||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਉਹਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਦੀ ਪਰਾਪਤੀ) ਦਾ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ (ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੩॥
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਜੋ ਕਲ ਰਹਿਆ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
so sayvhu jo kal rahi-aa Dhaar.
O’ my friend, perform the devotional worship of God who is supporting the entireuniverse by His power.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰੋ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੀ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਤੋਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੪॥੯॥
naanak gurmukh naam pi-aar. ||4||9||
O’ Nanak, through the Guru, imbue yourself with the love of Naam. ||4||9||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰੋ, ॥੪॥੯॥

Raag Bhairao, Third Guru:
ਕਲਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥
kaljug meh baho karam kamaahi.
In this dark age of kalyug, people perform various ritualistic deeds.
ਕਲਯੁਗ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਘਣੇਰੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ.
ਨਾ ਰੁਤਿ ਨ ਕਰਮ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
naa rut na karam thaa-ay paahi. ||1||
this human life is not for performing ritualistic deeds, those deeds do not get recognized in God’s presence. ||1||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਕਰਮ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਕਬੂਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਰਮ ਦੀ ਹੁਣ) ਰੁੱਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਲਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
kaljug meh raam naam hai saar.
In the dark age of KalYug, the deed of remembering God’s Name with love and passion is sublime.
(ਜੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਵਲ ਭੀ ਵੇਖੋ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ) ਕਲਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਜਪਣਾ ਹੀ) ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ (ਕੰਮ) ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gurmukh saachaa lagai pi-aar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and by following the Guru’s teachings, one gets imbued with the everlasting love for God’s Name. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਖੋਜਿ ਘਰੈ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
tan man khoj gharai meh paa-i-aa. gurmukh raam naam chit laa-i-aa. ||2||
By following the Guru’s teaching, one who focused his mind on God’s Name, by searching within his body and mind, he realized God within his own heart.||2||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਿਆ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਖੋਜ ਕੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ, ॥੨॥
