ਜਾਗਾਤੀਆ ਉਪਾਵ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਰਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ਡਿਠਾ ਭੰਨਿ ਬੋਲਕਾ ਸਭਿ ਉਠਿ ਗਇਆ ॥
jaagaatee-aa upaav si-aanap kar veechaar dithaa bhann bolkaa sabh uth ga-i-aa.
The tax collectors deliberated over the situation and came up with a wise thing to do, they broke (closed down) the cash boxes and left.
ਮਸੂਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਹੀਲੇ ਸੋਚੇ, ਕਈ ਸੋਚਾਂ ਸੋਚੀਆਂ, (ਆਖ਼ਿਰ ਉਹ ਗੋਲਕਾਂ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ।
ਤ੍ਰਿਤੀਆ ਆਏ ਸੁਰਸਰੀ ਤਹ ਕਉਤਕੁ ਚਲਤੁ ਭਇਆ ॥੫॥
taritee-aa aa-ay sursaree tah ka-utak chalat bha-i-aa. ||5||
In the third leg of the journey, the Guru arrived at the bank of the Ganges river and a wonder occurred there. ||5||
(ਦੋ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਤੀਜੇ ਥਾਂ ਗੰਗਾ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ। ਉਥੇ ਇਕ ਅਜਬ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਹੋਇਆ। ॥੫॥
ਮਿਲਿ ਆਏ ਨਗਰ ਮਹਾ ਜਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ॥

The highly respected people of the city joined together and came to the true Guru (amardass) and sought his refuge and support.
ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ) ਆਏ। (ਉਹਨਾਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਲਈ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜਿਆ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਵਿਦੁ ਪੁਛਿ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਕੀਤਾ ਸਹੀ ॥
gur satgur gur govid puchh simrit keetaa sahee.
After asking the great Guru, they concluded that to enshrine the Divine-Guru in the heart is the true essence of wisdom described in the Simrities.
ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪੁੱਛ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪੰਚਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਨਿਰਨਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ’ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਣਾ ਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਨੀ ਸਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੁਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦਿ ਸ੍ਰੀਰਾਮਿ ਕਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਵਿਦੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
simrit saastar sabhnee sahee keetaa suk par-hilaad sareeraam kar gur govid Dhi-aa-i-aa.
Yes, they concluded that all the simrities and shastras confirm that even the sage Sukhdev, Prehlaad, and lord Sri Ramchander also meditated on the Divine-Guru.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਹਾਂ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਨਿਰਨਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਸਾਬਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਸੁਕਦੇਵ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਨੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਚੰਦਰ ਨੇ ‘ਗੋਵਿੰਦ, ਗੋਵਿੰਦ’ ਆਖ ਆਖ ਕੇ ‘ਗੁਰ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ’ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਸੀ ।
ਦੇਹੀ ਨਗਰਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਪੰਚ ਚੋਰ ਵਟਵਾਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਥਾਉ ਥੇਹੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
dayhee nagar kot panch chor vatvaaray tin kaa thaa-o thayhu gavaa-i-aa.
Thus they completely wiped out and drove away the five thieves (lust, anger, greed, ego and attachment), from their bodies.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ) ਸਰੀਰ-ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਰੀਰ-ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜ ਚੋਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜ ਡਾਕੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਰ ਕੇ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਹੀ ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ।
ਕੀਰਤਨ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਨਿਤ ਪੁੰਨ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨਿ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਲਹੀ ॥
keertan puraan nit punn hoveh gur bachan naanak har bhagat lahee.
They received the boon of devotional worship of God through the words of Guru Nanak; the praises of God were continually being sung, and charitable deeds became the study of the puranas for them.
ਉਹਨਾ ਨੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਈ। (ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ) ਸਦਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ, ਅਤੇ ਪੁੰਨ-ਦਾਨ ਉਹਨਾਵਾਸਤੇ ਪੁਰਾਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਠ ਹੋ ਗਏ
ਮਿਲਿ ਆਏ ਨਗਰ ਮਹਾ ਜਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ॥੬॥੪॥੧੦॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One eternal God realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਘੋਲਿ ਘੁਮਾਈ ਲਾਲਨਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
ghol ghumaa-ee laalnaa gur man deenaa.
O’ my beloved God, I am dedicated to You; I have surrendered my mind to You through the Guru’s teachings.
ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲਾਲ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਇਹ) ਮਨ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਸੁਣਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਨਾ ॥
sun sabad tumaaraa mayraa man bheenaa.
By listening to the divine word of Your praises, my mind is imbued with Your love
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ (ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਨਾਲ) ਭਿੱਜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਨਾ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਮੀਨਾ ਲਾਗਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਾ ॥
ih man bheenaa ji-o jal meenaa laagaa rang muraaraa.
O’ God, I have developed love for You; just as fish is drenched in water, this mind of mine is drenched in the elixir of Your Name.
ਹੇ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ,ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਲੱਗ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਉਂ ਭਿੱਜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੱਛੀ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
keemat kahee na jaa-ee thaakur tayraa mahal apaaraa.
O’ my Master, Your worth cannot be estimated and Your abode is superb.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਤੇਰਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਤੇਰਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਮਹਾਨ ਹੈ।
ਸਗਲ ਗੁਣਾ ਕੇ ਦਾਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਬਿਨਉ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਇਕ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
sagal gunaa kay daatay su-aamee bin-o sunhu ik deenaa.
O’ the Master-God, benefactor of all virtues, please listen to one prayer of this humble person,
ਹੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਮੇਰੀ ਗਰੀਬ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੁਣ,
ਦੇਹੁ ਦਰਸੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਕੀਨਾ ॥੧॥
dayh daras naanak balihaaree jee-arhaa bal bal keenaa. ||1||
bless Nanak (me) with Your divine vision, I am dedicated to You and I sacrifice my life for You. ||1||
(ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਇਹ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਭਿ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
ih tan man tayraa sabh gun tayray.
O’ God, this body and mind belong to You and all the virtues are blessed by You.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇਰਾ (ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ), ਇਹ ਮਨ ਤੇਰਾ (ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ), ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਖੰਨੀਐ ਵੰਞਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
khannee-ai vanjaa darsan tayray.
I sacrifice (dedicate) every bit of this body for Your blessed vision.
ਤੇਰੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਉਤੋਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਗ ਅੰਗ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦਰਸਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੁਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਿਮਖ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਾ ॥
darsan tayray sun parabh mayray nimakh darisat paykh jeevaa.
O’ my God, listen, I spiritually rejuvenate when I am able to visualize You even for an instant.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਸੁਣ, ਜੇਕਰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਭਰ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਵੇਖ ਲਵਾਂ ਤਦ ਵੀ ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਨੀਜੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਤ ਪੀਵਾ ॥
amrit naam suneejai tayraa kirpaa karahi ta peevaa.
I hear that Your Name is like an ambrosial nectar, but if You bestow mercy, only then I can drink it.
ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੁਣੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਲ) ਪੀ ਸਕਦੀ ਹਾਂ।
ਆਸ ਪਿਆਸੀ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ਜਿਉ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕੁ ਬੂੰਦੇਰੇ ॥
aas pi-aasee pir kai taa-ee ji-o chaatrik booNdayray.
O’ dear God, longing for Your blessed vision is arising in my mind, like the longing of the rain-bird for a raindrop.
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਅੇਸੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਪੀਹਾ ਵਰਖਾ ਦੀ ਬੂੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂਘਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਦੇਹੁ ਦਰਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ॥੨॥
kaho naanak jee-arhaa balihaaree dayh daras parabh mayray. ||2||
O’ Nanak! say, O’ my God! I dedicate my life to You, please bless me with Your divine vision. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣਾ) ਦਰਸਨ ਦੇਹ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥
ਤੂ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਾਹੁ ਅਮਿਤਾ ॥
too saachaa saahib saahu amitaa.
O’ God, You are the eternal Master and the sovereign king with infinite powers.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈਂ।
ਤੂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਹਿਤ ਚਿਤਾ ॥
too pareetam pi-aaraa paraan hit chitaa.
You are my dear and beloved, whom I cherish with my breaths and mind.
ਤੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਤੇ ਚਿਤ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਸਗਲ ਰੰਗ ਬਨਿ ਆਏ ॥
paraan sukh-daata gurmukh jaataa sagal rang ban aa-ay.
You are the benefactor of life and all comforts, all kinds of joys well up within the one who realizes You through the Guru’s teachings.
ਤੂੰ (ਸਾਨੂੰ) ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੋਈ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਜੇਹਾ ਤੂ ਫੁਰਮਾਏ ॥
so-ee karam kamaavai paraanee jayhaa too furmaa-ay.
One does only those deeds, which You command him to do.
ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਤੂੰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵ ਉਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਜਗਦੀਸੁਰਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਨੁ ਜਿਤਾ ॥
jaa ka-o kirpaa karee jagdeesur tin saaDhsang man jitaa.
One upon whom the Master-God of the universe bestowed mercy, that person conquered his mind by remaining in the holy company.
ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਤਉ ਦਿਤਾ ॥੩॥
kaho naanak jee-arhaa balihaaree jee-o pind ta-o ditaa. ||3||
O’ Nanak! say, O’ God! my life is dedicated to You; You have blessed me with this body and life. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ, ਆਖ ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਨਿਰਗੁਣੁ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਆ ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਸਦਕਾ ॥
nirgun raakh lee-aa santan kaa sadkaa.
God has saved me, an unvirtuous person, from the vices by the grace of the saintly persons.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਨੂੰ (ਭੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਢਾਕਿ ਲੀਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਾਪੀ ਪੜਦਾ ॥
satgur dhaak lee-aa mohi paapee parh-daa.
The true Guru has covered up the evil deeds of a sinner like me.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਾਪੀ ਦਾ ਪਰਦਾ ਢੱਕ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।
ਢਾਕਨਹਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ॥
dhaakanhaaray parabhoo hamaaray jee-a paraan sukh-daatay.
O’ my God, the forgiver of our sins, the benefactor of life, breaths and peace,
ਹੇ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਦਾ ਢੱਕਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ!
ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਅਬਿਗਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ॥
abhinaasee abigat su-aamee pooran purakh biDhaatay.
O’ imperishable, invisible, perfect with all virtues, and all-pervading Creator,
ਹੇ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਹੇ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ! ਹੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ!
ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਕਉਣੁ ਕਹੈ ਤੂ ਕਦ ਕਾ ॥
ustat kahan na jaa-ay tumaaree ka-un kahai too kad kaa.
Your praises cannot be described, and nobody can say how long You have been here.
ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ। ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਕਦੋਂ ਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਕਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੧॥
naanak daas taa kai balihaaree milai naam har nimkaa. ||4||1||11||
Devotee Nanak is dedicated to that Guru, through whose grace he (Nanak) may unite with God’s Name even for an instant. ||4||1||11||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹੈ ,ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੧॥
