ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਜਿੰਨਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
har simar aikankaar saachaa sabh jagat jinn upaa-i-aa.
O’ my mind, lovingly remember that all-pervading eternal God who has created the entire universe,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਉਸ ਇਕ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਉਣੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਬਾਧੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੇਲੁ ਜਗਤਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
pa-un paanee agan baaDhay gur khayl jagat dikhaa-i-aa.
and has kept the air, water, and fire under His command; the Guru has shown this wondrous play of God to the world.
ਅਤੇ ਹਵਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਅੱਗ ਆਦਿਕ ਤੱਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਵਿਚ) ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਚਾਰਿ ਤੂ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਜਮ ਜਪ ਤਪੋ ॥
aachaar too veechaar aapay har naam sanjam jap tapo.
If you lovingly remember God’s Name and make it as your austerity, penance, and devotional worship, then you would become a person of good conduct and good thought.
ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਸਵੈ-ਜਬਤ, ਪੂਜਾ ਪਾਠ ਅਤੇ ਤਪੱਸਿਆ ਬਣਾਏਂ ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਆਚਰਨ,ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਏਂਗਾ।
ਸਖਾ ਸੈਨੁ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਜਪੁ ਜਪੋ ॥੨॥
sakhaa sain pi-aar pareetam naam har kaa jap japo. ||2||
Keep lovingly reciting and remembering God’s Name, He alone is your true companion, relative, and beloved. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਸੱਜਣ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ॥੨॥
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਤੂ ਥਿਰੁ ਰਹੁ ਚੋਟ ਨ ਖਾਵਹੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
ay man mayri-aa too thir rahu chot na khaavhee raam.
O’ my mind, remain steadily focused on Naam, you will not suffer blows of vices.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਅਡੋਲ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੁ, ਤੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੱਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਹਿਂਗਾ।
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਹੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
ay man mayri-aa gun gaavahi sahj samaavahee raam.
O’ my mind, if you keep singing praises of God with love, you will remain absorbed in a state of spiritual poise.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! (ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾ ਜਾਹਿਂਗਾ ।
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇ ਰਸੀਅਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਸਾਰਹੇ ॥
gun gaa-ay raam rasaa-ay rasee-ah gur gi-aan anjan saarhay.
You will be imbued with God’s virtues by singing His praises with utmost love; if you reflect on the Guru’s teachings as if using it as an eye ointment,
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ) ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਸ ਜਾਣਗੇ; ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਾ ਲਏਂ ,
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਲੋਕ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਸੰਘਾਰਹੇ ॥
tarai lok deepak sabad chaanan panch doot sanghaarahay.
then the divine light which enlightens the universe will manifest within you and you would destroy the five demons (vices) through the Guru’s word.
ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਦੀਵਾ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਗ ਪਏਗਾ,ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਰ ਲਏਂਗਾ।
ਭੈ ਕਾਟਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਤਰਹਿ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਾਰਏ ॥
bhai kaat nirbha-o tareh dutar gur mili-ai kaaraj saar-ay.
You would become fearless by getting rid of worldly fears and would swim across the dreadful worldly ocean of vices; you would accomplish the objective of life by meeting the Guru and following his teachings.
ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਡਰ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੋ ਜਾਹਿਂਗਾ, ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਹਿਂਗਾ ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣਾ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਨ ਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਕਾਰਜ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰ ਲਏਂਗਾ।
ਰੂਪੁ ਰੰਗੁ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਏ ॥੩॥
roop rang pi-aar har si-o har aap kirpaa Dhaar-ay. ||3||
That person upon whom God bestows mercy, the love for God wells up within him and he becomes a beautiful person. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਤੂ ਕਿਆ ਲੈ ਆਇਆ ਕਿਆ ਲੈ ਜਾਇਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
ay man mayri-aa too ki-aa lai aa-i-aa ki-aa lai jaa-isee raam.
O’ my mind, what did you bring when you came into this world and what will you take with you when you go?
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ (ਜਨਮ ਸਮੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ (ਇਥੋਂ ਤੁਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਾਹਿਂਗਾ?
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਤਾ ਛੁਟਸੀ ਜਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
ay man mayri-aa taa chhutsee jaa bharam chukaa-isee raam.
O’ my mind, you will be liberated from the bonds of the love for materialism only when you will dispel your illusion.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਤਦੋਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਭਰਮ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਵੇਂਗਾ।
ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਵਖਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਭਾਉ ਪਛਾਣਹੇ ॥
Dhan sanch har har naam vakhar gur sabad bhaa-o pachhaanahay.
O’ my mind, amass the wealth of Naam and commodity of God’s Name; if you recognize the love of God through the Guru’s word,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ!ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਧਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ- ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੌਦਾ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰ; ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਪਿਆਰ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਏਂ,
ਮੈਲੁ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਘਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਜਾਣਹੇ ॥
mail parhar sabad nirmal mahal ghar sach jaanhay.
then by removing the filth of vices through the Guru’s word, you would become immaculate and would find God’s abode in your .
ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਹਿਂਗਾ। ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਘਰ-ਮਹਲ ਲੱਭ ਲਏਂਗਾ।
ਪਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਘਰਿ ਸਿਧਾਵਹਿ ਝੋਲਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀ ਰਸੋ ॥
pat naam paavahi ghar siDhaaveh jhol amrit pee raso.
O’ my mind, lovingly drink the ambrosial nectar of Naam, you would receive the glory of Naam, and you would reach the presence of God.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਪੀਆ ਕਰ, ਤੂੰ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦੀ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮਣਾ ਖੱਟ ਲਏਂਗਾ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਜਾਹਿਂਗਾ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡਭਾਗਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੋ ॥੪॥
har naam Dhi-aa-ee-ai sabad ras paa-ee-ai vadbhaag japee-ai har jaso. ||4||
We should lovingly remember God’s Name, its essence is enjoyed only through the Guru’s word; but one can sing His praises only through good fortune.||4||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਨਾਮ ਦਾ) ਸੁਆਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਹੀ) ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ (ਹੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਉੜੀਆ ਮੰਦਰਿ ਕਿਉ ਚੜੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
ay man mayri-aa bin pa-urhee-aa mandar ki-o charhai raam.
O’ my mind, just as without a ladder one cannot climb on a roof-top, similarly how can one achieve supreme spiritual state without the ladder of devotional worship of God.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਪੌੜੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੋਠੇ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਤੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਪੌੜੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੇੜੀ ਪਾਰਿ ਨ ਅੰਬੜੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
ay man mayri-aa bin bayrhee paar na ambrhai raam.
O’ my mind, Just as without a boat, one cannot cross over to the other side of the river,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਬੇੜੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਰਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਅੱਪੜ ਸਕੀਦਾ।,
ਪਾਰਿ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਲੰਘਾਵਏ ॥
paar saajan apaar pareetam gur sabad surat langhaava-ay.
similarly, only with the conscious reflection on the Guru’s word, one can cross over to the other shore of the world-ocean of vices where God’s abode is.
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ) ਪਾਰਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ (ਹੀ ਇਸ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਪਾਰਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ) ਲੰਘਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਰਲੀਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਨ ਪਛੋਤਾਵਏ ॥
mil saaDhsangat karahi ralee-aa fir na pachhotaava-ay.
O’ my mind, if you keep enjoying the spiritual bliss in the holy congregation, then you will not have to repent afterwards.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਰਹੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਤੈਂਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਪਛੁਤਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਵੇਗਾ|
ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਦਾਨੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਾਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਓ ॥
kar da-i-aa daan da-i-aal saachaa har naam sangat paava-o.
O’ merciful God, bless me with the gift of Your mercy so that I may realize Your eternal Name in the holy congregation.
ਹੇ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਦਾਨ ਕਰ, ਤਾਂਕਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਾਂ ।
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੁ ਸਮਝਾਵਓ ॥੫॥੬॥
naanak pa-i-ampai sunhu pareetam gur sabad man sanjhaava-o. ||5||6||
Nanak humbly prays: Listen O’ my beloved God, bless me that through the Guru’s word, I may keep enlightening my mind. ||5||6||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ- ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ! ਮੇਰੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੁਣ (ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਸੂਝ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੫॥੬॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਿਰੀ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਕਿਉ ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੀਵੀਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
antar piree pi-aar ki-o pir bin jeevee-ai raam.
(O’my friends), within my mind is so much love for my Husband-God, how can I spiritually survive without Him?
(ਹੇ ਸਖੀਏ!) ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਊ ਸਕਦੀ ਹਾਂ?
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਦਰਸੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਕਿਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੀਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
jab lag daras na ho-ay ki-o amrit peevee-ai raam.
As long as I do not visualize Him, how can I drink the ambrosial nectar of Naam?
ਜਦੋਂ ਤਕ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, (ਤਦ ਤਕ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੀ ਸਕਦੀ ਹਾਂ? ।
ਕਿਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੀਵੀਐ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥
ki-o amrit peevee-ai har bin jeevee-ai tis bin rahan na jaa-ay.
Yes, how can I drink the ambrosial nectar of Naam and live without God? I cannot spiritually survive without Him.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮੈਂ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਪਾਨ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ ਤੇ ਜਿਉ ਸਕਦੀ ਹਾਂ?
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਕਰੇ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਆਸ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥
an-din pari-o pari-o karay din raatee pir bin pi-aas na jaa-ay.

ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨੂੰਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ|
ਅਪਣੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥
apnee kirpaa karahu har pi-aaray har har naam sad saari-aa.
O’ beloved God, the person on whom You bestow mercy, he always keeps Your Name enshrined in his heart.
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਉੱਤੇ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਹਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
gur kai sabad mili-aa mai pareetam ha-o satgur vitahu vaari-aa. ||1||
I am totally dedicated to my true Guru, because I have realized my belovedGod through the Guru’s word. ||1||
ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਭੀ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜਬ ਦੇਖਾਂ ਪਿਰੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਸਿ ਰਵਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
jab daykhaaN pir pi-aaraa har gun ras ravaa raam.
O’ my friend, when I visualize my beloved Master-God, I remember His virtues with great joy,
ਹੇ ਸਖੀ! ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ, ਤਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਬੜੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ,
