ਮੋਹ ਪਸਾਰ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਬੇਲੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
moh pasaar nahee sang baylee bin har gur kin sukh paa-i-aa. ||4||
The worldly love does not become anybody’s friend; who has ever attained inner peace without lovingly remembering God through the Guru’s teachings. ||4||
ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਰੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਥੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਸਕਦੇ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਦੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ?॥੪॥
ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
jis ka-o nadar karay gur pooraa.
One upon whom the perfect Guru casts his glance of grace,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸੂਰਾ ॥
sabad milaa-ay gurmat sooraa.
unites him with the divine word and he becomes brave to fight the evil impulses by following the Guru’s teachings.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਾਕਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਸੂਰਮਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਸਰੇਵਹੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਭੂਲਾ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੫॥
naanak gur kay charan sarayvhu jin bhoolaa maarag paa-i-aa. ||5||
O’ Nanak, with utmost humility follow the teachings of the Guru who puts the strayed mind on the righteous path of life. ||5||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਪੂਜੋ ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਭੁੱਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਜਸੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
sant janaaN har Dhan jas pi-aaraa.
The wealth of Naam and Your praises are very dear to the saintly people.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ॥
gurmat paa-i-aa naam tumaaraa.
O’ God, they have received Your Name through the Guru’s teachings.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖਿਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹਨਾ ਨੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਾਚਿਕੁ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੇ ਦਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੬॥
jaachik sayv karay dar har kai har dargeh jas gaa-i-aa. ||6||
The devotee of God engages in devotional worship and sings His praises in His presences. ||6||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਰ ਦਾ ਮੰਗਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਏ ॥
satgur milai ta mahal bulaa-ay.
One who meets and follows the true Guru’s teachings, God attaches that person to His Name as if God has called him to His presence.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਦਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਗਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
saachee dargeh gat pat paa-ay.
Then he receives high spiritual status and honor in God’s presence.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਕਤ ਠਉਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੭॥
saakat tha-ur naahee har mandar janam marai dukh paa-i-aa. ||7||
But a faithless cynic finds no place in God’s presence; he endures misery through the cycle of birth and death. ||7||
ਪਰ ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਹਲ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ, ਉਹ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਮਰਦਾ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਮੁੰਦੁ ਅਥਾਹਾ ॥
sayvhu satgur samund athaahaa.
O’ brother, follow the true Guru’s teachings who is like a unfathomable ocean of divine virtues,
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੋ ਜੋ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਥਾਹ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਵਹੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਲਾਹਾ ॥
paavhu naam ratan Dhan laahaa.
and receive from him the wealth of jewel-like precious Naam, which is the only reward of human life.
ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਨਾਮ-ਰਤਨ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਵੋਗੇ (ਇਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਲਾਭ (ਹੈ)।
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰਿ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਰ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੮॥
bikhi-aa mal jaa-ay amrit sar naavhu gur sar santokh paa-i-aa. ||8||
Sing the praises of God in the holy congregation which is like bathing in the pool of the ambrosial nectar, the filth of the love for Maya from your mind will be washed off and you would receive contentment in the Guru’s company. ||8||
ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੇ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰੋ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਧੁਪ ਜਾਇਗੀ (ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਇਗੀ ਤੇ) ਗੁਰੂ-ਸਰੋਵਰ ਦਾ ਸੰਤੋਖ-ਜਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ ॥੮॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸੰਕ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
satgur sayvhu sank na keejai.
Follow the true Guru’s teachings without any doubt.
(ਪੂਰੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਨਾਲ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੋ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ) ਸ਼ੱਕ ਨਾਹ ਕਰੋ।
ਆਸਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਸੁ ਰਹੀਜੈ ॥
aasaa maahi niraas raheejai.
While still living in the world, remain aloof from worldly desires.
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਵਿਚਰੋ।
ਸੰਸਾ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੁ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੯॥
sansaa dookh binaasan sayvhu fir baahurh rog na laa-i-aa. ||9||
Lovingly remember God, the destroyer of doubt and misery, and then you would no longer be afflicted with the malady of worldly attachments . ||9||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰੋ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਹਮ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ (ਮੋਹ ਦਾ) ਰੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦਾ ॥੯॥
ਸਾਚੇ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਡੀਆਏ ॥
saachay bhaavai tis vadee-aa-ay.
The eternal God blesses that one with glory who becomes pleasing Him.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਉਨੁ ਸੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਮਝਾਏ ॥
ka-un so doojaa tis samjhaa-ay.
Who else (besides the Guru) can teach about the righteous path in life?
ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤਾ ਦੱਸ ਸਕੇ।
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਏਕਾ ਵਰਤੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੧੦॥
har gur moorat aykaa vartai naanak har gur bhaa-i-aa. ||10||
The entityof God and the Guru work in unison: O’ Nanak what pleases the Guru that also pleases God. ||10||
ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਕੋ ਹੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਹਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਹੈ ॥੧੦॥
ਵਾਚਹਿ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨਾਂ ॥
vaacheh pustak vayd puraanaaN.
The pandits read Vedas, Puranaas and other holy books.
(ਪੰਡਿਤ ਲੋਕ) ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ- ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਇਕ ਬਹਿ ਸੁਨਹਿ ਸੁਨਾਵਹਿ ਕਾਨਾਂ ॥
ik bahi suneh sunaaveh kaanaaN.
Many people listen with attentive ears, to what the pundits tell them.
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਉਹ ਸੁਣਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਬੰਦੇ ਬਹਿ ਕੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਜਗਰ ਕਪਟੁ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਿਉ ਖੁਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੧॥
ajgar kapat kahhu ki-o khulHai bin satgur tat na paa-i-aa. ||11||
How can the massive door of worldly bonds open this way? The essence of reality (God) is not realized without the true Guru’s teachings. ||11||
ਪਰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ( ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ) ਕਰੜਾ ਕਵਾੜ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ ਖੁਲ੍ਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦੀ ॥੧੧॥
ਕਰਹਿ ਬਿਭੂਤਿ ਲਗਾਵਹਿ ਭਸਮੈ ॥
karahi bibhoot lagaaveh bhasmai.
There are some who collect ashes and smear their bodies with these ashes.
(ਇਕ ਉਹ ਭੀ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਸੁਆਹ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਸੁਆਹ (ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮਲ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਚੰਡਾਲੁ ਸੁ ਹਉਮੈ ॥
antar kroDh chandaal so ha-umai.
But within their mind is the demon-like anger and ego.
ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਚੰਡਾਲ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਖੰਡ ਕੀਨੇ ਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੨॥
pakhand keenay jog na paa-ee-ai bin satgur alakh na paa-i-aa. ||12||
Union with God cannot be attained by practicing hypocrisy; no one has realized the imperceptible God without following the true Guru’s teachings. ||12||
ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਪਾਖੰਡ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ ॥੧੨॥
ਤੀਰਥ ਵਰਤ ਨੇਮ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਦਿਆਨਾ ॥
tirath varat naym karahi udi-aanaa.
There are some who go to holy places, observe fasts and roam in jungles.
(ਤਿਆਗੀ ਬਣ ਕੇ) ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਵਰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਧਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜਤੁ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਕਥਹਿ ਗਿਆਨਾ ॥
jat sat sanjam katheh gi-aanaa.
They practice chastity, charity, self-discipline and speak of spiritual wisdom.
ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਤ ਸਤ ਸੰਜਮ ਦੇ ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਇਆ ॥੧੩॥
raam naam bin ki-o sukh paa-ee-ai bin satgur bharam na jaa-i-aa. ||13||
But how can anyone find inner peace without meditating on God’s Name? Doubt is not dispelled without following the true Guru’s teachings. ||13||
ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ॥੧੩॥
ਨਿਉਲੀ ਕਰਮ ਭੁਇਅੰਗਮ ਭਾਠੀ ॥
ni-ulee karam bhu-i-angam bhaathee.
People perform yogic exercises like Neoli Karma (cleaning of gut), Bhuengam (passing of breath through the imaginary passage to the tenth gate),
(ਇਹ ਲੋਕ) ਨਿਉਲੀ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕੁੰਡਲਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਸਮ ਦੁਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਖੋਹਲਣਾ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਰੇਚਕ ਕੁੰਭਕ ਪੂਰਕ ਮਨ ਹਾਠੀ ॥
raychak kumbhak poorak man haathee.
and inhaling, exhaling, and holding the breath through the mind’s stubbornness.
ਮਨ ਦੇ ਹਠ ਨਾਲ (ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਯਮ ਦੇ ਅੱਭਿਆਸ ਵਿਚ) ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਉਤਾਂਹ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ,,
ਪਾਖੰਡ ਧਰਮੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਉ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੪॥
pakhand Dharam pareet nahee har sa-o gur sabad mahaa ras paa-i-aa. ||14||
Love for God cannot well up through these hypocritical faith rituals; the supreme elixir of Naam is received only through the Guru’s divine word. ||14||
ਐਸੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਪਾਖੰਡਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਸਕਦੀ, ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪਰਮ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥
ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਰਹੇ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
kudrat daykh rahay man maani-aa.
Those who behold God pervadind in His creation, their mind is appeased,
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਤੀਜਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਭੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥
gur sabdee sabh barahm pachhaani-aa.
and through the Guru’s word, they recognize God pervading everywhere.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਛਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਇਆ ॥੧੫॥੫॥੨੨॥
naanak aatam raam sabaa-i-aa gur satgur alakh lakhaa-i-aa. ||15||5||22||
O’ Nanak, they behold the all-pervading God in the entire universe and the true Guru has helped them to know the imperceptible God. ||15||5||22||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੫॥੫॥੨੨॥

Raag Maaroo, Solhay (sixteen stanzas), Third Guru:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੁਕਮੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ॥
hukmee sehjay sarisat upaa-ee.
God intuitively created this Universe through His command.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਉਚੇਚੇ ਜਤਨ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਅਪਣੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
kar kar vaykhai apnee vadi-aa-ee.
After creating it, God Himself is watching His own glorious wonder.
(ਜਗਤ-ਉਤਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ) ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ (ਆਪ ਹੀ) ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
aapay karay karaa-ay aapay hukmay rahi-aa samaa-ee hay. ||1||
He Himself does and gets everything done, and as per His will He remains manifest in His creation. ||1||
ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ (ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ) ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥
maa-i-aa moh jagat gubaaraa.
This world is in the grip of pitch darkness of ignorance due to its love for Maya.
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਧਨ-ਦੌਲਤ ਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਦੇ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰੇ ਨੇ ਘੇਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
gurmukh boojhai ko veechaaraa.
Only a rare Guru’s follower understands this thought.
ਇਸ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
aapay nadar karay so paa-ay aapay mayl milaa-ee hay. ||2||
On whom God bestows His gracious glance, attains this understanding that on His own, God unites a person with Himself through the Guru. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ, ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
