ਗੁਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਅਵਖਧੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਨਾ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਕਟ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥੫॥੨॥
gur mantar avkhaDh naam deenaa jan naanak sankat jon na paa-ay. ||5||2||
O’ devotee Nanak, one who is blessed by the Guru with the mantra of God’s Name as the medicine, does not go through the agony of the cycles of birth and death. ||5||2||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਨਾਮ-ਦਾਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ) ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ ॥੫॥੨॥
ਰੇ ਨਰ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਇ ॥
ray nar in biDh paar paraa-ay.
O’ man, this is how one crosses over the world-ocean of vices..
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਧਿਆਇ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਹੋਇ ਮਿਰਤਕੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੨॥੧੧॥
Dhi-aa-ay har jee-o ho-ay mirtak ti-aag doojaa bhaa-o. rahaa-o doojaa. ||2||11||
You should meditate on God, and detach yourself from the evil temptations and worldly attachments; also renounce your love for duality. ||SeconPause||2||11||
ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਮੁਰਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾ, ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਪਿਆਰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ।ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੨॥੧੧॥

Raag Maaroo, Fifth Guru:
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਢੂਢਨ ਤੇ ਛੂਟਿ ਪਰੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥
baahar dhoodhan tay chhoot paray gur ghar hee maahi dikhaa-i-aa thaa.
O’ my friends, I have stopped searching for God outside because the Guru has shown me that God is within our own heart.
ਮੈਂ ਬਾਹਰਲੀ ਖੋਜ ਭਾਲ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਮੇਰੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਭਉ ਅਚਰਜ ਰੂਪੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਜਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥੧॥
anbha-o achraj roop parabh paykhi-aa mayraa man chhod na kathoo jaa-i-aa thaa. ||1||
I have visualised the wondrous God with my spiritually enlightened eyes, now my mind does not wander to seek refuge anywhere else. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਰੂਪ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਉਸਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਛੱਡ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਟਕਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਮਾਨਕੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਰੇ ਪਾਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥
maanak paa-i-o ray paa-i-o har pooraa paa-i-aa thaa.
I have realized God, the precious jewel, by the grace of the perfect Guru.
ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਰੂਪੀ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਮੋਲਿ ਅਮੋਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਈ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਿਵਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mol amol na paa-i-aa jaa-ee kar kirpaa guroo divaa-i-aa thaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
This priceless jewel (God) cannot be bought at any price; it is by the perfect Guru’s grace that I have realized God’s presence within me. ||1||Pause||
ਇਹ ਮੋਤੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਮੁੱਲ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਮੋਤੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਦਿਵਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਦਿਸਟੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਅਕਥੁ ਕਥਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥
adisat agochar paarbarahm mil saaDhoo akath kathaa-i-aa thaa.
God is invisible to our human eyes and is incomprehension. But when I met the saint Guru, he inspired me to sing praises of the indescribable God.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ, ਸਾਡੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਸਰੂਰ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦੁ ਦਸਮ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਵਜਿਓ ਤਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਚੁਆਇਆ ਥਾ ॥੨॥
anhad sabad dasam du-aar vaji-o tah amrit naam chu-aa-i-aa thaa. ||2||
Now the melody of non-stop divine words resounds in the tenth gate (spiritually enlightened mind) and I feel as if a steady stream of the nectar of Naam is flowing within me . ||2||
ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਮਾਗ਼ ਵਿਚ ਹੁਣ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ; ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੁਣ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਚੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਤੋਟਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੂਝੀ ਅਖੁਟ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥
tot naahee man tarisnaa boojhee akhut bhandaar samaa-i-aa thaa.
Since I have enshrined the inexhaustible treasure of God’s Name in my mind, now all my worldly needs and desires have been satiated.
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰ ਗਏ ਹਨ,, ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਵੱਸ-ਰਹੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ (-ਅੱਗ ਦੀ ਲਾਟ) ਬੁੱਝ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਚਰਣ ਚਰਣ ਚਰਣ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਅਘੜੁ ਘੜਿਓ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥੩॥
charan charan charan gur sayvay agharh gharhi-o ras paa-i-aa thaa. ||3||
Now, I always follow the Guru’s teachings; I have tasted the sublime nectar of Naam and my unchiseled mind has now been refined. ||3||
ਮੈਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਚੱਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਕੋਝੀ ਘਾੜਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨ ਹੁਣ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸਹਜੇ ਆਵਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਜਾਵਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਖੇਲਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥
sehjay aavaa sehjay jaavaa sehjay man khaylaa-i-aa thaa.
By tasting the relish of nectar of Naam, my mind is in a state of peace and poise, It always remains in this state even when the conflicting thoughts come and go.
ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਕਾਰ-ਵਿਹਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਖੇਡ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੋਇਆ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਮਹਲੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੨॥
kaho naanak bharam gur kho-i-aa taa har mahlee mahal paa-i-aa thaa. ||4||3||12||
Nanak says that ever since the Guru has dispelled my doubts, I have realized God in my heart. ||4|3||12||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਜਦੋਂ ਦੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਅਸਥਿਰ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰੀ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੨॥

Raag Maaroo, Fifth Guru:
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਸਾਜਿ ਨਿਵਾਜਿਆ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਸਿਉ ਰੁਚ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
jisahi saaj nivaaji-aa tiseh si-o ruch naahi.
O’ my friend, you feel no love for God who has created and embellished you.
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਈ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ਾਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਆਨ ਰੂਤੀ ਆਨ ਬੋਈਐ ਫਲੁ ਨ ਫੂਲੈ ਤਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
aan rootee aan bo-ee-ai fal na foolai taahi. ||1||
A seed planted out of season does not germinate, it produces neither any flower nor any fruit (instead of wasting time in worldly pursuits, you should meditate on God’s Name). ||1||
(ਤੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਆਹਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਪਰ ਜੇ) ਰੁੱਤ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਵੇ, ਬੀਜ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਬੀਜ ਦੇਈਏ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਹ ਫੁੱਲ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਫਲ ॥੧॥
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਤ੍ਰ ਬੀਜਣ ਨਾਉ ॥
ray man vatar beejan naa-o.
O’ my mind, human life is the only suitable opportunity to sow the seed of Naam.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! (ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਨਾਮ-ਬੀਜਣ ਲਈ ਢੁਕਵਾਂ ਸਮਾ ਹੈ।
ਬੋਇ ਖੇਤੀ ਲਾਇ ਮਨੂਆ ਭਲੋ ਸਮਉ ਸੁਆਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bo-ay khaytee laa-ay manoo-aa bhalo sama-o su-aa-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Cultivate the crop of Naam in the farm of your heart with fully focused mind; this is your opportunity to earn the profit of human life. ||1||Pause||
ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਲਾ ਕੇ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੀ) ਖੇਤੀ ਵਿਚ (ਨਾਮ) ਬੀਜ ਲੈ। ਇਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸੇ ਵਿਚ) ਲਾਭ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਖੋਇ ਖਹੜਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
kho-ay khahrhaa bharam man kaa satgur sarnee jaa-ay.
Renounce the stubbornness and doubts of your mind; seek the refuge of the true Guru and meditate on God’s Name.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੱਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ, ਤੇ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਜਾ ਪਉ (ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਬੀਜ ਬੀਜ ਲੈ)।
ਕਰਮੁ ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਧੁਰਹੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
karam jis ka-o Dharahu likhi-aa so-ee kaar kamaa-ay. ||2||
However, only the one with the preordained destiny would perform the deed of meditate on God’s Name. ||2||
ਪਰ ਇਹ ਕਾਰ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਇਹ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੨॥
ਭਾਉ ਲਾਗਾ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਸਿਉ ਘਾਲ ਪਾਈ ਥਾਇ ॥
bhaa-o laagaa gobid si-o ghaal paa-ee thaa-ay.
O’ my friend, one who is imbued with God’s love, his efforts of meditation on Naam are approved in God’s presence.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ) ਮਿਹਨਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਖੇਤਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਨਿਖੁਟਿ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
khayt mayrai jammi-aa nikhut na kabhoo jaa-ay. ||3||
In my farm (heart) also a rich crop of Naam has grown up; and this crop never depletes. ||3||
ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਖੇਤ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ-ਫ਼ਸਲ ਉੱਗ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੩॥
ਪਾਇਆ ਅਮੋਲੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੋ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਜਾਇ ॥
paa-i-aa amol padaaratho chhod na kathoo jaa-ay.
O’ my friends, those who have received the priceless commodity of God’s Name, they never abandon it and never go astray.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਅਮੋਲਕ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਟਕਦੇ;
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਰਹੇ ਆਘਾਇ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੩॥
kaho naanak sukh paa-i-aa taripat rahay aaghaa-ay. ||4||4||13||
Nanak says, I have attained inner peace, and now I feel completely satiated. ||4||4||13||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੩॥

ਫੂਟੋ ਆਂਡਾ ਭਰਮ ਕਾ ਮਨਹਿ ਭਇਓ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
footo aaNdaa bharam kaa maneh bha-i-o pargaas.
My mind has been enlightened with the divine wisdom, as if the egg of my doubts has split open.
ਵਹਿਮ ਦਾ ਆਂਡਾ ਫੁੱਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਰੋਸ਼ਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਕਾਟੀ ਬੇਰੀ ਪਗਹ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਬੰਦਿ ਖਲਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
kaatee bayree pagah tay gur keenee band khalaas. ||1||
I feel as if the Guru has cut the shackles from my feet, and has liberated me from the prison of worldly attachments. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੇਨੀਆਂ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਕੈਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥
ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਰਹਿਓ ॥
aavan jaan rahi-o.
My cycle of birth and death has ended,
ਮੇਰੇ ਆਉਣਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੁਣ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਤਪਤ ਕੜਾਹਾ ਬੁਝਿ ਗਇਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਸੀਤਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tapat karhaahaa bujh ga-i-aa gur seetal naam dee-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
the burning-hot cauldron of worldly desires has cooled down; the Guru has blessed me with the soothing Naam.||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਠੰਢ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਦਾ ਭਾਂਬੜ ਬੁੱਝ ਗਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਬ ਤੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਭਇਆ ਤਉ ਛੋਡਿ ਗਏ ਨਿਗਹਾਰ ॥
jab tay saaDhoo sang bha-i-aa ta-o chhod ga-ay nighaar.
Ever since I have been blessed with the company of the saintly people, the demons of vices, who were keeping an eye on me, have left.
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੋਏਆ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੱਕ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਛੱਡ ਗਇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਅਟਕ ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਛੁਟੀ ਤਉ ਕਹਾ ਕਰੈ ਕੋਟਵਾਰ ॥੨॥
jis kee atak tis tay chhutee ta-o kahaa karai kotvaar. ||2||
God who had obstructed my spiritual journey because of my previous deeds, He has removed these obstacles; now what can the demon of death do to me. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਰੜਿਆ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬੰਦਖ਼ਲਾਸ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਤਦ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਦੁਤ ਕੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਚੂਕਾ ਭਾਰਾ ਕਰਮ ਕਾ ਹੋਏ ਨਿਹਕਰਮਾ ॥
chookaa bhaaraa karam kaa ho-ay nihkarmaa.
Now I feel so blessed in my heart, as if all the load of (my sinful) deeds has been taken off, and I have become detached from the vices.
ਮੇਰੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਮੰਦ-ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਬੋਝ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਲਹਿ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਮੰਦ-ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੈਦ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਸਾਗਰ ਤੇ ਕੰਢੈ ਚੜੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੇ ਧਰਮਾ ॥੩॥
saagar tay kandhai charhay gur keenay Dharmaa. ||3||
The Guru has done such a favor to me that instead of drowning in the worldly ocean vices, I have risen to the bank ||3||
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਕੰਢੇ ਉਤੇ ਪੁੱਜ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।॥੩॥
ਸਚੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਸਚੁ ਬੈਠਕਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਆਉ ਬਣਾਇਆ ॥
sach thaan sach baithkaa sach su-aa-o banaa-i-aa.
I have made meditation on God’s Name as the purpose of my life and God’s immaculate Name is my place for spiritual life.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਚਰਨ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ (ਆਤਮਕ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ ਦਾ) ਥਾਂ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ l
ਸਚੁ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਚੁ ਵਖਰੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਘਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੪॥
sach poonjee sach vakhro naanak ghar paa-i-aa. ||4||5||14||
O’ Nanak, I have received the true and everlasting wealth of Naam in my heart. ||4||5||14||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਮੈਂ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੪॥
