Raag Maaroo, Fifth Guru:
ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹ ਅਰੁ ਲੋਭ ਵਿਕਾਰਾ ਬੀਓ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਘਾਲਿਓ ॥
maan moh ar lobh vikaaraa bee-o cheet na ghaali-o.
A devotee of God does not let the evils like arrogance, worldly attachment, and greed, or any other such thing enter his mind.
ਮਾਣ ਮੋਹ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਭ ਆਦਿਕ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣ ਦੇਂਦਾ।
ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਗੁਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਬਣਜੇ ਲਾਦਿ ਵਖਰੁ ਲੈ ਚਾਲਿਓ ॥੧॥
naam ratan gunaa har banjay laad vakhar lai chaali-o. ||1||
The devotee always tries to acquire the jewel-like virtues of God’s Name and His glorious praises, and departs from this world carrying only such merchandise with him. ||1||
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਤਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹੀ ਵਣਜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹੀ ਸੌਦਾ ਉਹ ਇਥੋਂ ਲੱਦ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਓੜਕਿ ਨਿਬਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
sayvak kee orhak nibhee pareet.
The devotee’s love for God lasts till the end.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਦੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਤਕ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜੀਵਤ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਅਪਨਾ ਚਲਤੇ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਚੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jeevat saahib sayvi-o apnaa chaltay raakhi-o cheet. ||1|| rahaa-o.
While he is alive, the devotee serves his Master and as he departs from this world, he still keeps God enshrined in his mind.||1||Pause||
ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਉਹ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜੈਸੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਕੀਨੀ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਮੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਮੋਰਿਓ ॥
jaisee aagi-aa keenee thaakur tis tay mukh nahee mori-o.
A true devotee is the one who never disobeys his Master’s command.
ਸੇਵਕ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਕਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਹੁਕਮ ਤੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੋੜਿਆ।
ਸਹਜੁ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਰਖਿਓ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਉਠਿ ਉਆਹੂ ਕਉ ਦਉਰਿਓ ॥੨॥
sahj anand rakhi-o garih bheetar uth u-aahoo ka-o da-ori-o. ||2||
The devotee maintains celestial peace and bliss within his heart; and he swiftly carries out His commands when so asked.
ਜੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਸੇਵਕ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਤੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ; (ਜੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ-) ਉੱਠ (ਉਸ-ਪਾਸੇ ਵਲ ਜਾਹ, ਤਾਂ ਸੇਵਕ) ਉਸੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਵਲ ਦੌੜ ਪਿਆ ॥੨॥
ਆਗਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਭੂਖ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਿ ਸੂਖਾ ਸੋਗ ਹਰਖ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਿਓ ॥
aagi-aa meh bhookh so-ee kar sookhaa sog harakh nahee jaan
While carrying out the command of his Master-God, if a devotee faces any deprivation, he accepts it happily and feels pain and pleasure as same.
ਜੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਭੁੱਖ-ਨੰਗ ਆ ਗਈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੁਖ ਮੰਨ ਲਿਆ। ਸੇਵਕ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਜਾਂ ਗ਼ਮੀ ਦੀ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਭਇਓ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕਾ ਸੋ ਮਾਥੈ ਲੇ ਮਾਨਿਓ ॥੩॥
jo jo hukam bha-i-o saahib kaa so maathai lay maani-o. ||3||
Whatever command the Master-God issues, devotee cheerfully accepts it. ||3||
ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰ-ਮੱਥੇ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਸਵਰੇ ਹਲਤ ਪਲਾਤਾ ॥
bha-i-o kirpaal thaakur sayvak ka-o savray halat palaataa.
God is gracious to such a devotee, his life is embellished here and hereafter.
ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਉਥੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਸੁਧਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਓਹੁ ਆਇਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਖਸਮੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥੪॥੫॥
Dhan sayvak safal oh aa-i-aa jin naanak khasam pachhaataa. ||4||5||
O’ Nanak, blessed is that devotee who has realized God, and fruitful is his advent into this world.||4||5||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇ ਖ਼ਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ, ਉਹ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਣਾ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੫॥

Raag Maaroo, Fifth Guru:
ਖੁਲਿਆ ਕਰਮੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਭਈ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਈ ॥
khuli-aa karam kirpaa bha-ee thaakur keertan har har gaa-ee.
I feel that now my destiny has awakened, I am blessed with God’s mercy and I am singing glorious praises of God.
ਮੇਰੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਜਾਗ ਉੱਠੀ ਹੈ, ਸਾਈਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਥਾਕਾ ਪਾਏ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮਾ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਈ ਸਗਲੀ ਧਾਈ ॥੧॥
saram thaakaa paa-ay bisraamaa mit ga-ee saglee Dhaa-ee. ||1||
My struggle has ended, I have found peace and tranquility, and all my wandering for worldly pursuits has ceased. ||1||
ਮੇਰੀ ਤਕਲਫ਼ਿ ਰਫ਼ਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਮੂਹ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਅਬ ਮੋਹਿ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
ab mohi jeevan padvee paa-ee.
Now, I have achieved a higher spiritual status.
ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਦਰਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਇਓ ਮਨਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
cheet aa-i-o man purakh biDhaataa santan kee sarnaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Because of seeking refuge with the saint (Guru), God has manifested in my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸਿਰਜਣ-ਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ, ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ਨਿਵਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਬੈਰਾਈ ॥
kaam kroDh lobh moh nivaaray nivray sagal bairaa-ee.
God has banished all my lust, anger, greed, and worldly attachments, and all other vices have also been driven away.
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ (ਆਦਿਕ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ) ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਵੈਰੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਦ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਹਾਜਰੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਜਰੁ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਭਇਓ ਦੂਰਾਈ ॥੨॥
sad hajoor haajar hai naajar kateh na bha-i-o dooraa-ee. ||2||
God is always present right in front of me, and never seems far away. ||2||
ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਗਸੰਗ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਸੁਖ ਸੀਤਲ ਸਰਧਾ ਸਭ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋਏ ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
sukh seetal sarDhaa sabh pooree ho-ay sant sahaa-ee.
With the help and support of the holy saints, I have achieved peace and tranquility and my every desire is now fulfilled.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਠੰਢ ਤੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਮੰਗ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਵਨ ਪਤਿਤ ਕੀਏ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਥਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
paavan patit kee-ay khin bheetar mahimaa kathan na jaa-ee. ||3||
The holy saint sanctified the sinners in an instant; the glory of the saints cannot be described. ||3||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ, ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ. ॥੩॥
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਸਗਲ ਭੈ ਖੋਏ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਚਰਣ ਓਟਾਈ ॥
nirbha-o bha-ay sagal bhai kho-ay gobid charan otaa-ee.
When I took refuge in God’s Name, all my fears were dispelled, and I became fearless,
ਮੈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ,ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਮੈ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਾ ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੪॥੬॥
naanak jas gaavai thaakur kaa rain dinas liv laa-ee. ||4||6||
and now Nanak always sings the glorious praises of God and remain focused on His Name. ||4||6||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬॥

Raag Maaroo, Fifth Guru:
ਜੋ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਇਕੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਗਾਵਸਿ ਰੇ ॥
jo samrath sarab gun naa-ik tis ka-o kabahu na gaavas ray.
O’ brother, you never sing the praises of God who is all powerful, and master of all virtues,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਛੋਡਿ ਜਾਇ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਉਆ ਕਉ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਧਾਵਸਿ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
chhod jaa-ay khin bheetar taa ka-o u-aa ka-o fir fir Dhaavas ray. ||1||
but you repeatedly chase after the worldly wealth which you are going to abandon ina moment? ||1||
ਉਸ (ਮਾਇਆ) ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਕਿਉ ਨ ਸਮਾਰਸਿ ਰੇ ॥
apunay parabh ka-o ki-o na samaaras ray.
O’ mortal, why don’t you lovingly remember God?
ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ?
ਬੈਰੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਰੰਗ ਰਸਿ ਰਚਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਜੀਅਰਾ ਜਾਰਸਿ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bairee sang rang ras rachi-aa tis si-o jee-araa jaaras ray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
You are engrossed and find pleasure in the company of your enemy, the worldly wealth, and you are destroying your spiritual life with the fire of worldly desires. ||1||Pause||
ਤੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ-) ਵੈਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਮੌਜ-ਮੇਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ, ਉਸ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਨਿਐ ਜਮੁ ਛੋਡੈ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਨ ਪਾਵਸਿ ਰੇ ॥
jaa kai naam suni-ai jam chhodai taa kee saran na paavas ray.
O’ mortal, why do you not seek the refuge of God who is so powerful that hearing His Name, even the demon of death would leave you alone?
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਿਆਂ ਜਮਰਾਜ (ਭੀ) ਛੱਡ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ (ਕਿਉਂ) ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ?
ਕਾਢਿ ਦੇਇ ਸਿਆਲ ਬਪੁਰੇ ਕਉ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਟਿਕਾਵਸਿ ਰੇ ॥੨॥
kaadh day-ay si-aal bapuray ka-o taa kee ot tikaavas ray. ||2||
Enshrine the support of that God who would drive out the jackal (of cowardice) from within you. ||2||
ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਟਿਕਾ ਲੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ (ਸਿੰਘ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਗਿੱਦੜ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਜਾਸੁ ਸੁਨਤ ਭਵ ਤਰੀਐ ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਲਾਵਸਿ ਰੇ ॥
jis kaa jaas sunat bhav taree-ai taa si-o rang na laavas ray.
Why have you not imbued yourself with God’s love, listening to whose praises, one cross over the terrifying world-ocean of vices?
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਸੁਣਿਆਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋੜਦਾ।
ਥੋਰੀ ਬਾਤ ਅਲਪ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਕੀ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਅਟਕਾਵਸਿ ਰੇ ॥੩॥
thoree baat alap supnay kee bahur bahur atkaavas ray. ||3||
This love of meager worldly attachments is like a short-lived dream, and yet, you are getting your mind entangled in it, over and over again. ||3||
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ) ਸੁਪਨੇ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਹੋਛੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਉਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਫਸਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੩॥
ਭਇਓ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
bha-i-o parsaad kirpaa niDh thaakur satsang pat paa-ee.
When God, the treasure of mercy, grants His grace on someone, he finds honor in the congregation ofthe holy persons.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦੀ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਛੂਟਾ ਜਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੪॥੭॥
kaho naanak tarai gun bharam chhootaa ja-o parabh bha-ay sahaa-ee. ||4||7||
Nanak says, when God becomes merciful, with His grace, one gets rid of the illusionary three prongs of Maya, the worldly wealth and power. ||4||7||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਸਹਾਈ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਗੁਣੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੭॥

Raag Maaroo, Fifth Guru:
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਕਹਾ ਦੁਲਾਰਿਓ ॥
antarjaamee sabh biDh jaanai tis tay kahaa dulaari-o.
God, the Inner-knower of all hearts, knows everything; where can one hide anything from Him?
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ (ਦਾ ਅੰਦਰਲਾ ਭੇਤ) ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਕੁਝ ਲੁਕਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਹਸਤ ਪਾਵ ਝਰੇ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਰਿਓ ॥੧॥
hasat paav jharay khin bheetar agan sang lai jaari-o. ||1||
Your hands and feet with which you commit all sins become useless in an instant at the time death, and are burnt to ashes along with the rest of the body.||1||
(ਜਿਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਤੂੰ ਹਰਾਮਖ਼ੋਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਅੰਤ ਵੇਲੇ) ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਸਾੜਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਹੱਥ ਪੈਰ (ਆਦਿਕ ਅੰਗ) ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੜ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
