ਰਾਗੁ ਮਲਾਰ ਬਾਣੀ ਭਗਤ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਜੀਉ ਕੀ ॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੇਵੀਲੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਰਾਇ ਅਕੁਲ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ॥
sayveelay gopaal raa-ay akul niranjan.
I have lovingly meditated on that Master-God who is the sustainer of the entire universe, has no particular lineage and is unaffected by the Maya,
ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਰੱਖਿਅਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਕੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ,
ਭਗਤਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਜਾਚਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhagat daan deejai jaacheh sant jan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and from Whom the saints beg saying: O’ God, please bless us with the gift of Your devotional worship. ||1||Pause||
ਅਤੇ (ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ (ਅਤੇ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਹੇ ਦਾਤਾ! ਅਸਾਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਾਂ ਚੈ ਘਰਿ ਦਿਗ ਦਿਸੈ ਸਰਾਇਚਾ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਭਵਨ ਚਿਤ੍ਰਸਾਲਾ ਸਪਤ ਲੋਕ ਸਾਮਾਨਿ ਪੂਰੀਅਲੇ ॥
jaaN chai ghar dig disai saraa-ichaa baikunth bhavan chitarsaalaa sapat lok saamaan pooree-alay.
One whose canopy is so vast that it extends in all directions, the heaven is whose art gallery and whose command is running equally in all the seven worlds,
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਾਮੀਆਨਾ ਚਾਰੇ ਦਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੈਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰਾ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਸਵੀਰ-ਘਰ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸੱਤਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਇਕ-ਸਾਰ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਾਂ ਚੈ ਘਰਿ ਲਛਿਮੀ ਕੁਆਰੀ ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਦੀਵੜੇ ਕਉਤਕੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਬਪੁੜਾ ਕੋਟਵਾਲੁ ਸੁ ਕਰਾ ਸਿਰੀ ॥
jaaN chai ghar lachhimee ku-aaree chand sooraj deevrhay ka-utak kaal bapurhaa kotvaal so karaa siree.
In whose house dwells young goddess of wealth, the sun and the moon are like the tiny lamps there, the poor demon of death plays marvelous drama with the human beings, and levies taxes on all, and is like a police official for the world.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਹਲ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਛਮੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਜੁਆਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਚੰਦ ਸੂਰਜ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਿੱਕੇ ਜਿਹੇ ਦੀਵੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਲ ਦਾ ਹਾਲਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਕਾਲ (ਇਸ ਜਗਤ-ਰੂਪ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ) ਕੋਤਵਾਲ ਹੈ,
ਸੁ ਐਸਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਨਰਹਰੀ ॥੧॥
so aisaa raajaa saree narharee. ||1||
So, that is how great the king God is. ||1||
ਸੋ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ (ਭਾਵ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ) ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜਾਂ ਚੈ ਘਰਿ ਕੁਲਾਲੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਚਤੁਰ ਮੁਖੁ ਡਾਂਵੜਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਬਿਸ੍ਵ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਰਾਚੀਲੇ ॥
jaaN chai ghar kulaal barahmaa chatur mukh daaNvrhaa jin bisav sansaar raacheelay.
In whose presence is the four headed god Brahma, who is believed to be the creator of the entire world, is like a petty potter moulding the human bodies.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਰ ਮੂੰਹਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ (ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਘੜਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਕ ਘੁਮਿਆਰ ਹੀ ਹੈ|
ਜਾਂ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਈਸਰੁ ਬਾਵਲਾ ਜਗਤ ਗੁਰੂ ਤਤ ਸਾਰਖਾ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਭਾਖੀਲੇ ॥
jaaN kai ghar eesar baavlaa jagat guroo tat saarkhaa gi-aan bhaakheelay.
Lord Shiva who is believed to be the world Guru who recites divine knowledge to explain the essence of reality by giving the message of death, is like a clown in God’s house.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਜੀ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਇਕ ਕਮਲਾ ਮਸਖ਼ਰਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਗਿਆਨ ਕਥਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਅਪੜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਜਾਂ ਚੈ ਡਾਂਗੀਆ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਲੇਖੀਆ ॥
paap punn jaaN chai daaNgee-aa du-aarai chitar gupat laykhee-aa.
The vices and virtues are like His gatekeepers, and god Chitragupta is like His accountant.
ਚੰਗਾ ਤੇ ਮੰਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਹਲ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਚੋਬਦਾਰ ਹਨ। ਚਿਤ੍ਰਗੁਪਤ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਇਕ ਮੁਨੀਮ (ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ) ਹੈ।
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਪਰੁਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਹਾਰੁ ॥
Dharam raa-ay parulee partihaar.
The Righteous Judge of Dharma, who is (believed to be) the god of destruction, is like whose gatekeeper,
(ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ) ਪਰਲੋ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਹਲ ਦਾ ਇਕ (ਮਮੂਲੀ) ਦਰਬਾਨ ਹੈ,
ਸੋੁ ਐਸਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੋਪਾਲੁ ॥੨॥
so aisaa raajaa saree gopaal. ||2||
Such a king is the Master-God of the universe. ||2||
ਸੋ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੋਪਾਲ (ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ- ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਾਂ ਚੈ ਘਰਿ ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਰਿਖੀ ਬਪੁੜੇ ਢਾਢੀਆ ਗਾਵੰਤ ਆਛੈ ॥
jaaN chai ghar gan ganDharab rikhee bapurhay dhaadhee-aa gavant aachhai.
God is such a king, in whose abode the devotees of Shiva, celestial musicians, and the sages sing His praises like humble minstrels;
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਗਣ, (ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਗੀ) ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਢਾਢੀ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਾਰਾਂ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਰਬ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਹੁ ਰੂਪੀਆ ਅਨਗਰੂਆ ਆਖਾੜਾ ਮੰਡਲੀਕ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਕਾਛੇ ॥
sarab saastar baho roopee-aa angaroo-aa aakhaarhaa mandleek bol boleh kaachhay.
All the scriptures are like actors taking various forms, and this world is like a small arena where the worldly kings utter the beautiful words in whose praise.
ਸਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਬਹੁ-ਰੂਪੀਏ ਹਨ, (ਇਹ ਜਗਤ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਨਿੱਕਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਅਖਾੜਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਥੇ (ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਰਾਜੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਦੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਚਉਰ ਢੂਲ ਜਾਂ ਚੈ ਹੈ ਪਵਣੁ ॥
cha-ur dhool jaaN chai hai pavan.
For whom the air waves a fan,
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਪਵਣ ਚਉਰ ਬਰਦਾਰ ਹੈ,
ਚੇਰੀ ਸਕਤਿ ਜੀਤਿ ਲੇ ਭਵਣੁ ॥
chayree sakat jeet lay bhavan.
whose maid is the Maya, which has won over the entire world,
ਮਾਇਆ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਜਿਤ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਅੰਡ ਟੂਕ ਜਾ ਚੈ ਭਸਮਤੀ ॥
and took jaa chai bhasmatee.
this earth is like an oven for the kitchen used for providing sustenance to the beings,
ਇਹ ਧਰਤੀ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਲੰਗਰ ਵਿਚ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਚੁੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ),
ਸੋੁ ਐਸਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਪਤੀ ॥੩॥
so aisaa raajaa taribhavan patee. ||3||
such is the sovereign God, the master of the three worlds. ||3||
ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜਾਂ ਚੈ ਘਰਿ ਕੂਰਮਾ ਪਾਲੁ ਸਹਸ੍ਰ ਫਨੀ ਬਾਸਕੁ ਸੇਜ ਵਾਲੂਆ ॥
jaaN chai ghar koormaa paal sahsar fanee baasak sayj vaaloo-aa.
In whose abode tortoise, which is believed as the incarnation of god Vishnu, is like the bed woven with the string of the thousand-headed mythical snake;
ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂ ਦਾ ਕੱਛ-ਅਵਤਾਰ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਇਕ ਪਲੰਘ ਹੈ; ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਫਣਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਗ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਣੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਅਠਾਰਹ ਭਾਰ ਬਨਾਸਪਤੀ ਮਾਲਣੀ ਛਿਨਵੈ ਕਰੋੜੀ ਮੇਘ ਮਾਲਾ ਪਾਣੀਹਾਰੀਆ ॥
athaarah bhaar banaaspatee maalnee chhinvai karorhee maygh maalaa paaneehaaree-aa.
To offer flowers, the entire vegetation of the world is like whose gardener, and ninety six million cloud ranges are whose water carriers;
ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਅਠਾਰਾਂ ਭਾਰ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਫੁੱਲ ਭੇਟ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਲਣ ਹੈ, ਛਿਆਨਵੇ ਕਰੋੜ ਬੱਦਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਭਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ;
ਨਖ ਪ੍ਰਸੇਵ ਜਾ ਚੈ ਸੁਰਸਰੀ ॥
nakh parsayv jaa chai sursaree.
for whom the river Ganges is like a drop of perspiration from His nails,
ਗੰਗਾ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਹੁੰਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਸੀਨਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਪਤ ਸਮੁੰਦ ਜਾਂ ਚੈ ਘੜਥਲੀ ॥
sapat samund jaaN chai gharhthalee.
and for whom all the seven seas are like the stand for water pitchers,
ਅਤੇ ਸੱਤੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਘੜਵੰਜੀ ਹਨ,
ਏਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਜਾਂ ਚੈ ਵਰਤਣੀ ॥
aytay jee-a jaaN chai vartanee.
all the creatures of the world are like whose household utensils,
ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਆ-ਜੰਤ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਹਨ,
ਸੋੁ ਐਸਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਧਣੀ ॥੪॥
so aisaa raajaa taribhavan Dhanee. ||4||
such is the sovereign king, the Master God of the three worlds. ||4||
ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਜਾਂ ਚੈ ਘਰਿ ਨਿਕਟ ਵਰਤੀ ਅਰਜਨੁ ਧ੍ਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦੁ ਅੰਬਰੀਕੁ ਨਾਰਦੁ ਨੇਜੈ ਸਿਧ ਬੁਧ ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਬਾਨਵੈ ਹੇਲਾ ॥
jaaN chai ghar nikat vartee arjan Dharoo parahlaad ambreek naarad nayjai siDh buDh gan ganDharab baanvai haylaa.
In whose house and whose near and dear like devotee Arjan, Dhru, Prehlaad, Ambreek, Naarad, Neja, and other adepts, divinely wise, and ninety two celestial musicians are in whose wondrous play.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਰਜਨ, ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ, ਅੰਬ੍ਰੀਕ, ਨਾਰਦ, ਨੇਜੈ (ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨਾ ਵਿਚ) ਪੁੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੋਗੀ, ਗਿਆਨਵਾਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ, ਸ਼ਿਵ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਗਣ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਗੀ, ਬਾਨਵੇ ਸਵਰਗੀ ਗਵੱਈਏ ਆਦਿਕ ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਇਕ ਸਧਾਰਨ ਜਿਹੀ) ਖੇਡ ਹਨ।
ਏਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਜਾਂ ਚੈ ਹਹਿ ਘਰੀ ॥
aytay jee-a jaaN chai heh gharee.
Yes, in whose abode are all these creatures,
ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਆ-ਜੰਤ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ,
ਸਰਬ ਬਿਆਪਿਕ ਅੰਤਰ ਹਰੀ ॥
sarab bi-aapik antar haree.
that God who is all pervading and is dwelling within all.
ਹਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਣਵੈ ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਤਾਂ ਚੀ ਆਣਿ ॥
paranvai naamday-o taaN chee aan.
Namdev submits that I have the support of that God,
ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ- ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਗਲ ਭਗਤ ਜਾ ਚੈ ਨੀਸਾਣਿ ॥੫॥੧॥
sagal bhagat jaa chai neesaan. ||5||1||
under whose banner (protection), all the devotees are rejoicing. ||5||1||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਝੰਡੇ ਹੇਠ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਗਤ (ਅਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਰਹੇ) ਹਨ ॥੫॥੧॥

ਮੋ ਕਉ ਤੂੰ ਨ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਤੂ ਨ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ॥ ਤੂ ਨ ਬਿਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਮਈਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mo ka-o tooN na bisaar too na bisaar. too na bisaaray raam-ee-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ the beauteous God, do not forsake me; yes, please don’t forsake me ever. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਰਾਮ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਨਾ ਭੁਲਾਈਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਨਾ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਨਾ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਆਲਾਵੰਤੀ ਇਹੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਜੋ ਹੈ ਮੁਝ ਊਪਰਿ ਸਭ ਕੋਪਿਲਾ ॥
aalaavantee ih bharam jo hai mujh oopar sabh kopilaa.
These priests of the temple are under the illusion that they belong to a high caste and (therefore) have become angry with me;
(ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਂਡਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਇਹ ਵਹਿਮ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਉੱਚੀ ਜਾਤੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, (ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਹ) ਸਾਰੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ;
ਸੂਦੁ ਸੂਦੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਉਠਾਇਓ ਕਹਾ ਕਰਉ ਬਾਪ ਬੀਠੁਲਾ ॥੧॥
sood sood kar maar uthaa-i-o kahaa kara-o baap beethulaa. ||1||
calling me a shudra (low caste), they have beaten me up and have driven me out (of the temple): O’ God, my Father, what should I do now ? ||1||
ਸ਼ੂਦਰ ਸ਼ੂਦਰ ਆਖ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਤੇ ਮਾਰ-ਕੁਟਾਈ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਠਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ; ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੀਠੁਲ ਪਿਤਾ! ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਕੀ ਕਰਾਂ? ॥੧॥
ਮੂਏ ਹੂਏ ਜਉ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੇਹੁਗੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਇਲਾ ॥
moo-ay hoo-ay ja-o mukat dayhugay mukat na jaanai ko-ilaa.
O God, if You grant me emancipation (liberation from vices) after death, no one would know about the emancipation granted by You;
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਰਨ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਤੇਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਣਾ;
ਏ ਪੰਡੀਆ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਢੇਢ ਕਹਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਪੈਜ ਪਿਛੰਉਡੀ ਹੋਇਲਾ ॥੨॥
ay pandee-aa mo ka-o dhaydh kahat tayree paij pichhaNudee ho-ilaa. ||2||
these pandits are calling me, Your devotee, a person born in low caste, and in this way actually Your own honor is decreasing. ||2||
ਇਹ ਪਾਂਡੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨੀਚ ਆਖ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਘੱਟ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਤੂ ਜੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਕਹੀਅਤੁ ਹੈਂ ਅਤਿਭੁਜ ਭਇਓ ਅਪਾਰਲਾ ॥
too jo da-i-aal kirpaal kahee-at haiN atibhuj bha-i-o apaarlaa.
O’ God, You are said to be kind, merciful and of infinite power, (can anyone push around Your devotee without Your will?)
(ਹੇ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਰਾਮ!) ਤੂੰ ਤਾਂ (ਸਭਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ,) ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਮਿਹਰ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈਂ, (ਫਿਰ ਤੂੰ) ਹੈਂ ਭੀ ਬੜਾ ਬਲੀ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ। (ਕੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਧੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?)
ਫੇਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਦੇਹੁਰਾ ਨਾਮੇ ਕਉ ਪੰਡੀਅਨ ਕਉ ਪਿਛਵਾਰਲਾ ॥੩॥੨॥
fayr dee-aa dayhuraa naamay ka-o pandee-an ka-o pichhvaarlaa. ||3||2||
(After listening to my prayer,) God turned around the front of the temple towards me (Namdev), and it’s back towards the pandits. ||3||2||
(ਮੇਰੀ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਦੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਦੇਹੁਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਵਲ ਫੇਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਤੇ ਪਾਂਡਿਆਂ ਵਲ ਪਿੱਠ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੩॥੨॥
