ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥
an-din sadaa rahai rang raataa kar kirpaa bhagat karaa-idaa. ||6||
One who always remains imbued with God’s love, bestowing mercy, God Himself inspires him to perform devotional worship. ||6||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਿ ਮਨੂਆ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
is man mandar meh manoo-aa Dhaavai.
Mind, that resides in this temple-like body, always keeps wandering around,
(ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਚੰਚਲ ਮਨ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੁਖੁ ਪਲਰਿ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
sukh palar ti-aag mahaa dukh paavai.
and endures immense suffering by forsaking spiritual bliss for the sake of straw like worldly pleasures.
ਪਰਾਲੀ ਵਰਗੇ ਤੁਛ ਸਂਸਾਰਕ ਪਦਰਾਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਬੜਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਆਪੇ ਖੇਲੁ ਕਰਾਇਦਾ ॥੭॥
bin satgur bhaytay tha-ur na paavai aapay khayl karaa-idaa. ||7||
Without meeting and following the true Guru’s teachings, he does not find any place for inner peace; but God Himself makes him play this game. ||7||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ; ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਇਹ ਖੇਡ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਆਪਿ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
aap aprampar aap veechaaree.
The infinite God Himself is the bestower of thoughts about righteous life.
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
aapay maylay karnee saaree.
God unites one with Himself by bestowing him the sublime deed of meditating on Naam .
(ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦੀ) ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਣੀ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਕਾਰ ਕਰੇ ਵੇਚਾਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੮॥
ki-aa ko kaar karay vaychaaraa aapay bakhas milaa-idaa. ||8||
What can any helpless person do on his own? Granting grace, God Himself unites one with Himself. ||8||
ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
ਆਪੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
aapay satgur maylay pooraa.
God Himself unites a person with the perfect true Guru,
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਹਾਬਲ ਸੂਰਾ ॥
sachai sabad mahaabal sooraa.
and makes him strong against the vices by uniting him to the divine word.
ਤੇ ਸਚੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਬਲ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੯॥
aapay maylay day vadi-aa-ee sachay si-o chit laa-idaa. ||9||
That person keeps his mind focused on the eternal God; God unites that person with Himself and blesses him with glory (both here and hereafter). ||9||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ; ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦੀ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
ਘਰ ਹੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
ghar hee andar saachaa so-ee.
The eternal God dwells within the heart of everyone,
ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਹਰੇਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
gurmukh virlaa boojhai ko-ee.
but only a rare Guru’s follower understands this fact.
ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਹ ਭੇਤ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ॥੧੦॥
naam niDhaan vasi-aa ghat antar rasnaa naam Dhi-aa-idaa. ||10||
One in whose heart is enshrined the treasure of Naam, he keeps meditating on Naam with his tongue. ||10||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ ਰੂਪੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦॥
ਦਿਸੰਤਰੁ ਭਵੈ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਲੇ ॥
disantar bhavai antar nahee bhaalay.
One who wanders around in various places, but does not search God within himself,
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਥਾਂ ਭੌਂਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ,ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਖੋਜਦਾ,
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਧਾ ਜਮਕਾਲੇ ॥
maa-i-aa mohi baDhaa jamkaalay.
engrossed in the love for materialism, he always remains in the fear of death.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਬੱਝਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਜਮ ਦੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਆਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸੀ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਤੂਟੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਭਰਮਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੧॥
jam kee faasee kabhoo na tootai doojai bhaa-ay bharmaa-idaa. ||11||
Such a person’s noose of death never breaks, and he keeps wandering in doubt in love for duality (Maya). ||11||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥
ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
jap tap sanjam hor ko-ee naahee.
Any worship, penance, austerity, or anything else is of no use in one’s life,
ਕੋਈ ਜਪ ਕੋਈ ਤਪ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਜਮ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਉੱਦਮ ਇਸ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ,
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਕਮਾਹੀ ॥
jab lag gur kaa sabad na kamaahee.
as long as one does not live by the Guru’s divine word.
ਜਦੋਂ ਤਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੇ ਕਮਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੨॥
gur kai sabad mili-aa sach paa-i-aa sachay sach samaa-idaa. ||12||
One who follows the Guru’s word, realizes the eternal God and remains absorbed in Him. ||12||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
ਕਾਮ ਕਰੋਧੁ ਸਬਲ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
kaam karoDh sabal sansaaraa.
The lust and anger are very powerful forces in the world,
ਕਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਬੜੇ ਬਲੀ ਹਨ,
ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖ ਕਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥
baho karam kamaaveh sabh dukh kaa pasaaraa.
swayed by these impulses, people perform many evil deeds; all this is the expanse (cause) of sufferings.
ਜੀਵ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਵਿਚ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੩॥
satgur sayveh say sukh paavahi sachai sabad milaa-idaa. ||13||
Those who follow the true Guru’s teachings, enjoy inner peace; the Guru unites them with God through the divine word of His praises. ||13||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ (ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੩॥
ਪਉਣੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੈ ਬੈਸੰਤਰੁ ॥
pa-un paanee hai baisantar.
Within the body are simple elements like air, water and fire,
ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਵਾ, ਪਾਣੀ, ਅੱਗ ਆਦਿਕ ਸਾਦਾ ਜਿਹੇ ਹੀ ਤੱਤ ਹਨ,
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਅੰਤਰਿ ॥
maa-i-aa moh vartai sabh antar.
but the intense love for materialism also pervades within all.
ਪਰ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ (ਆਪਣਾ) ਜ਼ੋਰ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਤਿਸੈ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੪॥
jin keetay jaa tisai pachhaaneh maa-i-aa moh chukaa-idaa. ||14||
When people realize God who created them, then He (God) eradicates their love for Maya. ||14||
ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥
ਇਕਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਗਰਬਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ॥
ik maa-i-aa mohi garab vi-aapay.
Many people always remain engrossed in the love for Maya and egotistical pride.
ਕਈ ਜੀਵ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਗ੍ਰਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹਉਮੈ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੇ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ॥
ha-umai ho-ay rahay hai aapay.
Through ego they become self-conceited.
ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁੱਛ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਲ।
ਜਮਕਾਲੈ ਕੀ ਖਬਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਈ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੫॥
jamkaalai kee khabar na paa-ee ant ga-i-aa pachhutaa-idaa. ||15||
One who does not become aware of the spiritual deterioration, in the end he leaves from here regretting. ||15||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ, ਉਹ ਅੰਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਹੱਥ ਮਲਦਾ ਹੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੫॥
ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਸੋ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
jin upaa-ay so biDh jaanai.
God who has created them, knows the way to keep them the way to save them from the spiritual deterioration.
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਜੀਵ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਹੀ (ਇਸ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਦਾ) ਢੰਗ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
gurmukh dayvai sabad pachhaanai.
God bestows this knowledge to the Guru‘s follower when he understands the Guru’s divine word.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,ਜਦ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਕਹੈ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੬॥੨॥੧੬॥
naanak daas kahai baynantee sach naam chit laa-idaa. ||16||2||16||
Devotee Nanak makes submission, only then that person keeps his mind attached to the Name of eternal God. ||16||2||16||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ- ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੬॥੨॥੧੬॥

Raag Maaroo, Third Guru:
ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਦਇਆਪਤਿ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
aad jugaad da-i-aapat daataa.
O’ God! from the very beginning of time and throughout the ages, You have been the master of mercy and the benefactor of everything to all.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ (ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ, ਜੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ (ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਦਾਰਥ) ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
pooray gur kai sabad pachhaataa.
You can be realized only through the divine word of the perfect Guru.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਬਣ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਤੁਧੁਨੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਸਮਾਵਹਿ ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧॥
tuDhuno sayveh say tujheh samaaveh too aapay mayl milaa-idaa. ||1||
Those who lovingly remember You, remain absorbed in You; You unite them with Yourself through the Guru. ||1||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
agam agochar keemat nahee paa-ee.
O’ God! You are inaccessible and incomprehensible, Your worth cannot be known.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈਂ, ਗਿਆਨ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦੀ, ਤੇਰਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
jee-a jant tayree sarnaa-ee.
All creatures depend on Your support.
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਆਸਰੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਚਲਾਵਹਿ ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੨॥
ji-o tuDh bhaavai tivai chalaaveh too aapay maarag paa-idaa. ||2||
As You like, You make people conduct themselves; You Yourself put them on the righteous path of life. ||2||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਰੇ ਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਉਤੇ ਤੋਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਹੋਸੀ ਸੋਈ ॥
hai bhee saachaa hosee so-ee.
The eternal God is present now and He will be present in the future.
ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
ਆਪੇ ਸਾਜੇ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
aapay saajay avar na ko-ee.
He Himself creates everything, except for Him, there is no one else.
ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਸਭਨਾ ਸਾਰ ਕਰੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਪਹੁਚਾਇਦਾ ॥੩॥
sabhnaa saar karay sukh-daata aapay rijak pahuchaa-idaa. ||3||
The giver of inner peace takes care of all and provides sustenance to all. ||3||
ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਅਪੜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
agam agochar alakh apaaraa.
O’ inaccessible, incomprehensible, indescribable, and infinite God,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਅਲੱਖ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈਂ।
ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਰਵਾਰਾ ॥
ko-ay na jaanai tayraa parvaaraa.
nobody knows how big Your creation is?
ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਜਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ਕਿ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਇਦਾ ॥੪॥
aapnaa aap pachhaaneh aapay gurmatee aap bujhaa-idaa. ||4||
Only You Yourself know about Your greatness; You make people to understand the righteous path of life through the Guru’s teachings. ||4||
ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੀ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗੀ ਨੂੰ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਸਤਾ) ਸਮਝਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੪॥
ਪਾਤਾਲ ਪੁਰੀਆ ਲੋਅ ਆਕਾਰਾ ॥ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਾਰਾ ॥
paataal puree-aa lo-a aakaaraa. tis vich vartai hukam karaaraa.
God’s strict command is prevailing throughout the nether worlds, worlds, galaxies and all the visible things in all the worlds.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪਾਤਾਲਾ , ਪੁਰੀਆਂ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਮੰਡਲਾ , ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਕਰੜਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਚਲਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
