ਏ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਚੇਤਿ ਤੂ ਮਨਹੁ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
ay man har jee-o chayt too manhu taj vikaar.
O’ my mind, lovingly remember God and shed evil from your mind.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ, ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂ ਸਚਿ ਲਗੀ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur kai sabad Dhi-aa-ay too sach lagee pi-aar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Always lovingly remember God through the Guru’s word, the love for God would well-up in your mind. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ। ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣੇਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਐਥੈ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਭੁਲਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਹਥੁ ਕਿਥਾਊ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
aithai naavhu bhuli-aa fir hath kithaa-oo na paa-ay.
By forgetting to remember God’s Name in this human life, one does not easily get this human life and opportunity to realize God,
ਇਸ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝੇ ਰਿਹਾਂ (ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਲੱਭਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਮੁੜ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਜੋਨੀ ਸਭਿ ਭਵਾਈਅਨਿ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
jonee sabh bhavaa-ee-an bistaa maahi samaa-ay. ||2||
he remains in the filth of vices and is made to go through all incarnations. ||2||
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਮਾਇ ॥
vadbhaagee gur paa-i-aa poorab likhi-aa maa-ay.
O’ my mother, it is only by good fortune and preordained destiny that one unites with the Guru,
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੩॥
an-din sachee bhagat kar sachaa la-ay milaa-ay. ||3||
then he always remains engaged in the devotional worship of God, and the eternal God unites that person with Himself. ||3||
ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਆਪੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਸਾਜੀਅਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
aapay sarisat sabh saajee-an aapay nadar karay-i.
God Himself fashioned the entire universe, and He Himself bestows His glance of grace on it.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਇਸ ਉਤੇ) ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੈ ਦੇਇ ॥੪॥੨॥
naanak naam vadi-aa-ee-aa jai bhaavai tai day-ay. ||4||2||
O’ Nanak, all the glories are in Naam; God bestows Naam to the one who is pleasing to Him. ||4||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਰੀਆਂਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ ਕੇਵਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ॥੪॥੨॥

Raag Maaroo, Third Guru:
ਪਿਛਲੇ ਗੁਨਹ ਬਖਸਾਇ ਜੀਉ ਅਬ ਤੂ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
pichhlay gunah bakhsaa-ay jee-o ab too maarag paa-ay.
O’ reverend God! forgive my past sins and now put me on the righteous path.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼, ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੋਰ.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹਾ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੧॥
har kee charnee laag rahaa vichahu aap gavaa-ay. ||1||
I wish to eradicate my self-conceit from within and wish to remain attuned to God’s immaculate Name. ||1||
ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
mayray man gurmukh naam har Dhi-aa-ay.
O’ my mind! follow the Guru’s teachings and lovingly remember God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ
ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹਾ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਏਕੈ ਭਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sadaa har charnee laag rahaa ik man aikai bhaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God! I wish to remain attuned to Your immaculate Name with single minded devotion and love. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ,ਇਕਾਗ੍ਰ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਾ ਮੈ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਮੈ ਥੇਹੁ ਨ ਥਾਉ ॥
naa mai jaat na pat hai naa mai thayhu na thaa-o.
I neither belong to a high caste, nor have any respect in the society; neither I have ownership of lands nor any dwelling.
ਨਾਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਕੋਈ ਉੱਚੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਭੁਇੰ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਲਕੀ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਘਰ-ਘਾਟ ਹੈ।
ਸਬਦਿ ਭੇਦਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਟਿਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਆ ਸਮਝਾਇ ॥੨॥
sabad bhayd bharam kati-aa gur naam dee-aa samjhaa-ay. ||2||
By convincing me through his word, the Guru has eradicated my doubt; the Guru has made me understand righteous living and blessed me with God’s Name. ||2||
ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਲਚ ਕਰਦਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
ih man laalach kardaa firai laalach laagaa jaa-ay.
This mind keeps wandering around driven by greed, and is getting more and more deeper into greed.
ਇਹ ਮਨ ਲਾਲਚ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਲਾਲਚ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ l
ਧੰਧੈ ਕੂੜਿ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਇ ॥੩॥
DhanDhai koorh vi-aapi-aa jam pur chotaa khaa-ay. ||3||
and engrossed in false worldly pursuits, it suffers as if getting beaten in the city of the demon of death. ||3||
ਅਤੇ ਕੂੜੇ ਧੰਧੇ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਮ ਪੁਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਟਾਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੩॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
naanak sabh kichh aapay aap hai doojaa naahee ko-ay.
O’ Nanak! God Himself is all-in-all; there is no one other at all.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਭਗਤਿ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਬਖਸਿਓਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੩॥
bhagat khajaanaa bakhsi-on gurmukhaa sukh ho-ay. ||4||3||
God has bestowed the treasure of His devotional worship to the Guru’s followers, because of which they always enjoy celestial peace. ||4||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩॥

Raag Maaroo, Third Guru:
ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਟੋਲਿ ਲਹੁ ਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
sach ratay say tol lahu say virlay sansaar.
O’ my friends, search and find out those who are imbued with the love of the eternal God; but such persons are rare in this world.
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਕਰ, ਉਂਞ ਉਹ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਤਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮੁਖੁ ਉਜਲਾ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
tin mili-aa mukh ujlaa jap naam muraar. ||1||
By meeting them and meditating on God’s Name, one receives honor (in this and the next world). ||1||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥
ਬਾਬਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
baabaa saachaa saahib ridai samaal.
O’ my friend, always keep remembering the eternal God in your heart.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ) ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਪੁਛਿ ਦੇਖੁ ਲੇਹੁ ਵਖਰੁ ਭਾਲਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satgur apnaa puchh daykh layho vakhar bhaal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
You may ask your true Guru about the true objective of life, and receive from him the true wealth of Naam. ||1||Pause||
ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਅਸਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੁੱਛ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲੈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੌਦਾ ਲੱਭ ਲੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਇਕੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਭ ਸੇਵਦੀ ਧੁਰਿ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
ik sachaa sabh sayvdee Dhur bhaag milaavaa ho-ay.
God alone is eternal and the entire world performs His devotional worship, but one unites with Him only through preordained destiny.
ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਧੁਰੋਂ ਲਿਖੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ (ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜਹਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥
gurmukh milay say na vichhurheh paavahi sach so-ay. ||2||
Those who realize the eternal God through the Guru’s teachings, they alone unite with God and are never separated from Him. ||2||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦੇ ਹਨ,, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿੱਛੁੜਦੇ ॥੨॥
ਇਕਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇ ॥
ik bhagtee saar na jaannee manmukh bharam bhulaa-ay.
There are many self-willed people who are deluded by doubt; they do not understand the worth of God’s devotional worship.
ਕਈ ਐਸੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੇ।
ਓਨਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਕਰਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
onaa vich aap varatdaa karnaa kichhoo na jaa-ay. ||3||
Even in them, God Himself pervades who keeps them astray and nothing can be done about it. ||3||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉਲਟ) ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਲਿ ਜੋਰੁ ਨ ਚਲਈ ਖਲੇ ਕੀਚੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
jis naal jor na chal-ee khalay keechai ardaas.
God, with whom no force can work, we should reverently offer our prayer.
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ (ਜੀਵ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ) ਪੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਅਦਬ ਨਾਲ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਤਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਕਰੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੪॥
naanak gurmukh naam man vasai taa sun karay saabaas. ||4||4||
O’ Nanak, by the Guru’s grace, when God’s Name becomes manifest in one’s mind: then listening to his prayer, God applauds him. ||4||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ) ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਆਦਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪॥

Raag Maaroo, Third Guru:
ਮਾਰੂ ਤੇ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਕਰੇ ਮਨੂਰਹੁ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
maaroo tay seetal karay manoorahu kanchan ho-ay.
God’s Name can soothe the burning desert-like mind into a cool oasis-like place, and rusted iron-like evil mind into pure Gold-like immaculate mind.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਤਪਦੇ ਰੇਗਸਤਾਨ(ਵਰਗੇ ਸੜਦੇ ਦਿਲ) ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,ਅਤੇ ਮਨੂਰ (ਵਰਗੇ ਮਨ) ਨੂੰ ਸੋਨਾ (ਸੁੱਧ) ਬਣ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
so saachaa salaahee-ai tis jayvad avar na ko-ay. ||1||
We should praise the eternal God; there is none other as great as He is. ||1||
ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
mayray man an-din Dhi-aa-ay har naa-o.
O’ my mind, always remember God’s Name with adoration.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਤੂ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satgur kai bachan araaDh too an-din gun gaa-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Yes, through immaculate words of the true Guru, lovingly remember God and always sing His praise. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥
gurmukh ayko jaanee-ai jaa satgur day-ay bujhaa-ay.
When the true Guru blesses us with divine understanding, through his teachings we realize God.
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਦੋਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਜਿਦੂ ਏਹ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
so satgur salaahee-ai jidoo ayh sojhee paa-ay. ||2||
O’ my mind, we should praise that true Guru from whom we receive this understanding. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੇ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਨਿ ਅਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
satgur chhod doojai lagay ki-aa karan agai jaa-ay.
O’ my mind, those who forsake the True Guru and attach themselves to duality, what would they do when they go to the world hereafter?
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਆਦਿਕ) ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ (ਮੋਹ) ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕੀਹ ਕਰਨਗੇ?
ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
jam pur baDhay maaree-ah bahutee milai sajaa-ay. ||3||
Seized by the demon of death, they would be thrashed and would be punished severely. ||3||
ਜਮ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਰੜੇ ਹੋਏ, ਉਹ ਕੁੱਟੇ ਫਾਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ॥੩॥
