ਹਰਿ ਤੁਮ ਵਡ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਭਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੁੜਣੇ ॥
har tum vad agam agochar su-aamee sabh Dhi-aavahi har rurh-nay.
O’ God, You are the highest, inaccessible and unfathomable; O’ beauteous God, all meditate on You.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ, ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਅਤੇ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸੁੰਦਰ-ਸਰੂਪ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੇ ਵਡ ਕਟਾਖ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਣੇ ॥੧॥
jin ka-o tumHray vad kataakh hai tay gurmukh har simarnay. ||1||
Those on whom You cast the mighty glance of grace, they meditate on You through the Guru’s teachings. ||1||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਇਹੁ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਕੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਜੁਗਣੇ ॥
ih parpanch kee-aa parabh su-aamee sabh jagjeevan jugnay.
The expanse of this creation is the work of the Master God, and He, the life of the universe; God Himself pervades everywhere,
ਇਹ ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ-ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਵਿਚ) ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਉ ਸਲਲੈ ਸਲਲ ਉਠਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਲਹਰੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਲਲੈ ਸਲਲ ਸਮਣੇ ॥੨॥
ji-o sallai salal utheh baho lahree mil sallai salal samnay. ||2||
just like the countless waves rise up from the water, and then they merge back into the water again. ||2||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਉਠਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀਆ ਸੁ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਹਮ ਨਹ ਜਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਗਹਣੇ ॥
jo parabh kee-aa so tum hee jaanhu ham nah jaanee har gahnay.
O’ God, only You truly know the expanse of Your creation; we cannot comprehend the depth of Your creation.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਹੜਾ (ਇਹ ਪਰਪੰਚ) ਤੂੰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੀ ਡੂੰਘਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਕਉ ਰਿਦ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਹਮ ਕਰਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਿਮਰਣੇ ॥੩॥
ham baarik ka-o rid ustat Dhaarahu ham karah parabhoo simarnay. ||3||
We are Your children, please infuse the word of Your praises in our hearts, so that we may keep remembering You with adoration. ||3||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਾਂ, ਅਸਾਡੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਟਿਕਾ ਰੱਖ, ਤਾ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ ॥੩॥
ਤੁਮ ਜਲ ਨਿਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਨ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਜੋ ਸੇਵੈ ਸਭ ਫਲਣੇ ॥
tum jal niDh har maan sarovar jo sayvai sabh falnay.
O’ God, You are the ocean of all treasures of all virtues; You are like the Mansarovar, lake filled with precious Naam; whoever meditates on You receives the rewards of spiritual bliss.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ (ਸਭ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਦਾ) ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ (ਸਭ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ) ਮਾਨਸਰੋਵਰ ਹੈਂ। ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਂਛੈ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਣੇ ॥੪॥੬॥
jan naanak har har har har baaNchhai har dayvhu kar kirapnay. ||4||6||
Devotee Nanak repeatedly asks for the gift of meditating on Your Name, bestow mercy and bless me with this gift. ||4||6||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਦਇਆ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਦੇਹ ॥੪॥੬॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
There is one eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਸੇਵ ਸਫਲ ਹਰਿ ਘਾਲ ॥
mayray man sayv safal har ghaal.
O’ my mind, fruitfully rewarding is the devotional worship of God.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ (ਕਰ, ਇਹ) ਮਿਹਨਤ ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਪਗ ਰੇਨ ਰਵਾਲ ॥
lay gur pag rayn ravaal.
Receiving the dust of the Guru’s feet (devotedly following Guru’s teachings),
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਾ,
ਸਭਿ ਦਾਲਿਦ ਭੰਜਿ ਦੁਖ ਦਾਲ ॥
sabh daalid bhanj dukh daal.
all your misery and sufferings will disappear.
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦਰਿੱਦਰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਲੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਲਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har ho ho ho nadar nihaal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my mind, in this way we are blessed by God’s glance of grace. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ਰੰਗ ਮਹਲ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਲਾਲ ਲਾਲ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਲ ॥
har kaa garihu har aap savaari-o har rang rang mahal bay-ant laal laal har laal.
This body is the house of God, He Himself has adorned it; Yes, this body is the colorful palace of the limitless and beauteous God.
(ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਰੀਰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ,ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਜਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਤ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ (ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਰੀਰ) ਰੰਗ-ਮਹਲ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਨੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਆਪਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਆਇਓ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੀਈ ਹੈ ਬਸੀਠੀ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਖੇ ਭਈ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੧॥
har aapnee kirpaa karee aap garihi aa-i-o ham har kee gur kee-ee hai baseethee ham har daykhay bha-ee nihaal nihaal nihaal nihaal. ||1||
God has shown His mercy on His own and has come to reside in my heart; I have sought the mediation of the Guru and upon realizing Him, I am totally delighted. ||1||
ਆਪਣੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਲਈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਵਿਚੋਲਾ-ਪਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚੋਲਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹਾਂ, ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਆਵਤੇ ਕੀ ਖਬਰਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਪਾਈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਆਨਦੋ ਆਨੰਦ ਭਏ ਹਰਿ ਆਵਤੇ ਸੁਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਾਲ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਲ ॥
har aavtay kee khabar gur paa-ee man tan aando aanand bha-ay har aavtay sunay mayray laal har laal.
When through the Guru I perceived the manifestation of my beloved God, my mind and body were in total bliss and ecstasy.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ (ਜਦੋਂ) ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਆ ਵੱਸਣ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਸੁਣੀ, (ਜਦੋਂ) ਮੈਂ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲਾਲ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਉਣਾ ਸੁਣਿਆ, ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ।
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਭਏ ਗਲਤਾਨ ਹਾਲ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੨॥੧॥੭॥
jan naanak har har milay bha-ay galtaan haal nihaal nihaal. ||2||1||7||
On realizing God, devotee Nanak is totally captivated and delighted. ||2||1||7||
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮਸਤ-ਹਾਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਨਿਹਾਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਨਿਹਾਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੨॥੧॥੭॥
ਨਟ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Raag Nat, Fourth Guru:
ਮਨ ਮਿਲੁ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸੁਭਵੰਤੀ ॥
man mil santsangat subhvantee.
O’ my mind, associate yourself with the company of saints, which inculcates noble virtues in us.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹੁ, (ਇਹ ਸੰਗਤ) ਭਲੇ ਗੁਣ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਨਿ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਖਵੰਤੀ ॥
sun akath kathaa sukhvantee.
By listening to the indescribable and blissful praises of God,
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ!) ਅਕੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਇਹ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ;
ਸਭ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਲਹੰਤੀ ॥
sabh kilbikh paap lahantee.
all sins and misdeeds are eliminated.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ;
ਹਰਿ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਲਿਖਤੁ ਲਿਖੰਤੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har ho ho ho likhat likhantee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my mind, the gift of singing God’s praises is received only by the one who is so preordained. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਇਹ ਕਥਾ ਪੂਰਬਲੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਲਿਖਤਕਾਰ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਨਸੀਬ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਕਲਜੁਗ ਵਿਚਿ ਊਤਮ ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਥਾ ਭਜੰਤੀ ॥
har keerat kaljug vich ootam mat gurmat kathaa bhajantee.
O’ mind, sublime are the praises of God in Kalyug, therefore listen to God’s praises by following the Guru’s teachings.
ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਮ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਸੁਣੀ ਮਨੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੰਤੀ ॥੧॥
jin jan sunee manee hai jin jan tis jan kai ha-o kurbaanantee. ||1||
I am dedicated to that devotee, who has listened to this discourse and believed in it. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਕਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਸਭ ਭੂਖ ਲਹੰਤੀ ॥
har akath kathaa kaa jin ras chaakhi-aa tis jan sabh bhookh lahantee.
The one who has relished the indescribable praises of God, all his craving for worldly things is quenched.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਅਕੱਥ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਚੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੇ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਵੰਤੀ ॥੨॥੨॥੮॥
naanak jan har kathaa sun tariptai jap har har har hovantee. ||2||2||8||
O’ Nanak, listening to God’s praises, the devotees are satiated with the worldly desires; by lovingly remembering God, they become one with Him. ||2||2||8||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥੨॥੮॥

Raag Nat, Fourth Guru:
ਕੋਈ ਆਨਿ ਸੁਨਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਲ ॥
ko-ee aan sunaavai har kee har gaal.
If only someone would come and recite to me the praises of God,
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ) ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣਾਏ;
ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਾਲ ॥
tis ka-o ha-o bal bal baal.
I would always be dedicated to him.
ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਵਾਂ, ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਵਾਂ।
ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਹੈ ਭਲ ਭਾਲ ॥
so har jan hai bhal bhaal.
For me, such a person is very noble and virtuous.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾ ਦਾ) ਭਲਾ ਹੈ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
