Ashtapadee:
ਜਹ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਮੀਤ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥
jah maat pitaa sut meet na bhaa-ee.
Where there is no mother, father, children, friends or siblings to help you.
ਜਿਥੇ ਮਾਂ, ਪਿਉ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ, ਭਰਾ ਕੋਈ (ਸਾਥੀ) ਨਹੀਂ (ਬਣਦਾ),
ਮਨ ਊਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
man oohaa naam tayrai sang sahaa-ee.
O’ my mind, there, only God’s Name, shall be with you as your help and support.
ਓਥੇ ਹੇ ਮਨ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ (ਹੈ)।
ਜਹ ਮਹਾ ਭਇਆਨ ਦੂਤ ਜਮ ਦਲੈ ॥
jah mahaa bha-i-aan doot jam dalai.
Where thearmies of dreadful demons try to crush you,
ਜਿਥੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਡਰਾਉਣੇ ਜਮਦੂਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਲ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦਰੜੇਗਾ,
ਤਹ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਚਲੈ ॥
tah kayval naam sang tayrai chalai.
there, only the Naam shall go along with you.
ਉਥੇ ਸਿਰਫ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਏਗਾ।
ਜਹ ਮੁਸਕਲ ਹੋਵੈ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
jah muskal hovai at bhaaree.
where you are in extremely difficult situation,
ਜਿਥੇ ਬੜੀ ਭਾਰੀ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਬਣੇਗੀ,
ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਉਧਾਰੀ ॥
har ko naam khin maahi uDhaaree.
there God’s Name shall rescue you in an instant.
ਓਥੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅੱਖ ਦੇ ਫੋਰ ਵਿਚ ਬਚਾ ਲਏਗਾ।
ਅਨਿਕ ਪੁਨਹਚਰਨ ਕਰਤ ਨਹੀ ਤਰੈ ॥
anik punahcharan karat nahee tarai.
By performing countless religious rituals, one is not saved from the sins.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਰਸਮਾਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਭੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਨਹੀਂ ਬਚਦਾ,
ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਕੋਟਿ ਪਾਪ ਪਰਹਰੈ ॥
har ko naam kot paap parharai.
The Name of God washes off millions of sins.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
gurmukh naam japahu man mayray.
Therefore, O’ my mind, meditate on God’s Name with the Guru’s Blessing,
(ਤਾਂ ਤੇ) ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਣ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਜਪ;
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਸੂਖ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥੧॥
naanak paavhu sookh ghanayray. ||1||
and, O’ Nanak, you shall obtain countless joys. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਬੜੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿਂਗਾ l
ਸਗਲ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕੋ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੁਖੀਆ ॥
sagal sarisat ko raajaa dukhee-aa.
Even as a king of the entire world, one remains in distress.
(ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ (ਹੋ ਕੇ ਭੀ) ਦੁਖੀ (ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ),
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਹੋਇ ਸੁਖੀਆ ॥
har kaa naam japat ho-ay sukhee-aa.
But by meditating on God’s Name, one obtains peace.
ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ ਸੁਖੀ (ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ);
ਲਾਖ ਕਰੋਰੀ ਬੰਧੁ ਨ ਪਰੈ ॥
laakh karoree banDh na parai.
Even huge amounts of wealth does not end the desire for more.
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ (ਰੁਪਏ) ਕਮਾ ਕੇ ਭੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਹ ਵਿਚ) ਰੋਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ,
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਨਿਸਤਰੈ ॥
har kaa naam japat nistarai.
By meditating on God’s Name, one escapes from the intense desire for Maya.
(ਏਸ ਮਾਇਆ-ਕਾਂਗ ਤੋਂ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਅਨਿਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ਤਿਖ ਨ ਬੁਝਾਵੈ ॥
anik maa-i-aa rang tikh na bujhaavai.
By remaining absorbed in the countless worldly pleasures, one’s desire for more worldly possessions, is not quenched.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੇ-ਅੰਤ ਮੌਜਾਂ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੁੱਝਦੀ,
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਆਘਾਵੈ ॥
har kaa naam japat aaghaavai.
By remembering God with love and devotion, one is satiated from Maya.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।.
ਜਿਹ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਇਹੁ ਜਾਤ ਇਕੇਲਾ ॥
jih maarag ih jaat ikaylaa.
Upon the journey, which the soul must take alone,
ਜਿਹਨੀਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਜੀਵ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਤਹ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਤ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥
tah har naam sang hot suhaylaa.
there, only God’s Name is with the soul as a comforter.
ਓਥੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਐਸਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
aisaa naam man sadaa Dhi-aa-ee-ai.
O’ my mind, meditate forever on such a Name.
ਹੈ ਮਨ ! ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ l
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
naanak gurmukh param gat paa-ee-ai. ||2||
O’ Nanak, the supreme spiritual state is obtained through the Guru’s grace. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ) ਉੱਚਾ ਦਰਜਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ
ਛੂਟਤ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਟਿ ਲਖ ਬਾਹੀ ॥
chhootat nahee kot lakh baahee.
Even with the support of millions of brothers, one can’t save oneself from vices.
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਸ ਦੀਨ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਤਹ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਹੀ ॥
naam japat tah paar paraahee.
By meditating on Naam, one swims across the worldly-ocean of vices,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ (ਜੀਵ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।.
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਿਘਨ ਜਹ ਆਇ ਸੰਘਾਰੈ ॥
anik bighan jah aa-ay sanghaarai.
Where countless misfortunes threaten to destroy you,
ਜਿਥੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਔਕੜਾਂ ਆ ਦਬਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਉਧਾਰੈ ॥
har kaa naam tatkaal uDhaarai.
There the Name of God shall rescues you in an instant.
(ਓਥੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਤੁਰਤ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਮ ॥
anik jon janmai mar jaam.
Through countless incarnations, people are born and die.
(ਜੀਵ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਫਿਰ) ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ (ਏਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ),
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਪਾਵੈ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ॥
naam japat paavai bisraam.
But reciting God’s Name, the soul rests in peace and becomes one with God.
ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਉ ਮੈਲਾ ਮਲੁ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਧੋਵੈ ॥
ha-o mailaa mal kabahu na Dhovai.
The one soiled with filth of ego, can never washes off this filth .
ਹਉਮੈ ਨਾਲ ਗੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ (ਜੀਵ) ਕਦੇ ਇਹ ਮੈਲ ਧੋਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਕੋਟਿ ਪਾਪ ਖੋਵੈ ॥
har kaa naam kot paap khovai.
The Name of God erases millions of sins.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਐਸਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਰੰਗਿ ॥
aisaa naam japahu man rang.
O’ my mind, recite such a Name with love.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਅਜੇਹਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਜਪ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥੩॥
naanak paa-ee-ai saaDh kai sang. ||3||
O’ Nanak, God’s Name is realized in the Company of the Holy. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ
ਜਿਹ ਮਾਰਗ ਕੇ ਗਨੇ ਜਾਹਿ ਨ ਕੋਸਾ ॥
jih maarag kay ganay jaahi na kosaa.
On that path of life’s journey where the miles cannot be counted,
ਜਿਸ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਰੂਪੀ) ਪੈਂਡੇ ਦੇ ਕੋਹ ਗਿਣੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ,
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਊਹਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੋਸਾ ॥
har kaa naam oohaa sang tosaa.
there the Name of the God is your sustenance.
ਉਥੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਹ ਦੀ ਰਾਸ-ਪੂੰਜੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਹ ਪੈਡੈ ਮਹਾ ਅੰਧ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥
jih paidai mahaa anDh gubaaraa.
On the journey of life where there is total pitch-black darkness of ignorance,
ਜਿਸ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਰੂਪ) ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਬੜਾ ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਜੀਆਰਾ ॥
har kaa naam sang ujee-aaraa.
the Name of God is the Light with you.
(ਓਥੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਨਾਲ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੈ।
ਜਹਾ ਪੰਥਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋ ਨ ਸਿਞਾਨੂ ॥
jahaa panth tayraa ko na sinjaanoo.
On that journey of life where no one knows you,
ਜਿਸ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚਤੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ (ਅਸਲੀ) ਮਰਹਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਹ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਛਾਨੂ ॥
har kaa naam tah naal pachhaanoo.
there God’s Name is your true friend.
ਓਥੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ (ਸੱਚਾ) ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਹ ਮਹਾ ਭਇਆਨ ਤਪਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਘਾਮ ॥
jah mahaa bha-i-aan tapat baho ghaam.
Where (in the journy of life) there is terrible scorching heat of vices,
ਜਿਥੇ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ) (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਬੜੀ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਤਪਸ਼ ਤੇ ਗਰਮੀ ਹੈ,
ਤਹ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਤੁਮ ਊਪਰਿ ਛਾਮ ॥
tah har kay naam kee tum oopar chhaam.
there, the Name of the God will provide you protection.
ਓਥੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਛਾਂ ਹੈ।
ਜਹਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਖਾ ਮਨ ਤੁਝੁ ਆਕਰਖੈ ॥
jahaa tarikhaa man tujh aakrakhai.
O’ my mind, where the craving for worldly possessions torments you,
(ਹੇ ਜੀਵ!) ਜਿਥੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ (ਸਦਾ) ਖਿੱਚ ਪਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਤਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਬਰਖੈ ॥੪॥
tah naanak har har amrit barkhai. ||4||
There, O’ Nanak, God’s Name acts like Nectar to control your desires. ||4||
ਓਥੇ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਖਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਤਪਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਝਾ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ)
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਬਰਤਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
bhagat janaa kee bartan naam.
For the devotee, God’s Name is an article of daily use.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਰੋਜ਼ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੈ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥
sant janaa kai man bisraam.
God’s Name dwells in the mind of the devotees.
ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਓਟ ॥
har kaa naam daas kee ot.
God’s Name is the Support of His humble devotees.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਉਧਰੇ ਜਨ ਕੋਟਿ ॥
har kai naam uDhray jan kot.
Millions are saved from vices by remembering God’s Name.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਬੰਦੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਕਰਤ ਸੰਤ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
har jas karat sant din raat.
God’s devotees recite His praises day and night,
ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਸਾਧ ਕਮਾਤਿ ॥
har har a-ukhaDh saaDh kamaat.
and they acquire the medicine of Naam which cures the malady of self-conciet.
ਤੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਰੂਪੀ ਦਵਾਈ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥
har jan kai har naam niDhaan.
God’s Name is the real treasure of God’s devotees.
ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਜਨ ਕੀਨੋ ਦਾਨ ॥
paarbarahm jan keeno daan.
The Supreme God has blessed His devotees with this gift of Naam.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਰੰਗ ਏਕੈ ॥
man tan rang ratay rang aikai.
Mind and body are imbued with ecstasy in the Love of the One God.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਮਨੋਂ ਤਨੋਂ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ;
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਬਿਰਤਿ ਬਿਬੇਕੈ ॥੫॥
naanak jan kai birat bibaykai. ||5||
O’ Nanak, His devotees acquire the divine intellect to differentiate between right and wrong. ll5ll
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਚੰਗੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਪਰਖ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ॥
har kaa naam jan ka-o mukat jugat.
For his devotees, God’s Name is the only way to freedom from the bonds of Maya.
ਭਗਤ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਛੁਟਕਾਰੇ ਦਾ ਵਸੀਲਾ ਹੈ l
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਭੁਗਤਿ ॥
har kai naam jan ka-o taripat bhugat.
To His devotees, God’s Name provides contentment from Maya.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਭਗਤ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਭੋਗਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
har kaa naam jan kaa roop rang.
God’s Name is the beauty and delight of His devotees.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭਗਤ ਦਾ ਸੋਹਜ ਸੁਹਣੱਪ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਕਬ ਪਰੈ ਨ ਭੰਗੁ ॥
har naam japat kab parai na bhang.
By remembering God’s Name, one never faces any obstacles in life.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਭਗਤ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ) ਕਦੇ (ਕੋਈ) ਅਟਕਾਉ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ।
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
har kaa naam jan kee vadi-aa-ee.
God’s Name is the true glory of His devotees.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਭਗਤ ਦੀ ਪਤ-ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੈ l
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਜਨ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਈ ॥
har kai naam jan sobhaa paa-ee.
Through God’s name His devotees receives honor.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
