ਬਾਬਾ ਜੁਗਤਾ ਜੀਉ ਜੁਗਹ ਜੁਗ ਜੋਗੀ ਪਰਮ ਤੰਤ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਗੰ ॥
baabaa jugtaa jee-o jugah jug jogee param tant meh jogaN.
O’ Babba, one who is always attuned to God, is a true Yogi.
Ee Babba, yule ambaye daima amemakinikia Mungu, ni Yogi wa kweli.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਿਆਨ ਕਾਇਆ ਰਸ ਭੋਗੰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
amrit naam niranjan paa-i-aa gi-aan kaa-i-aa ras bhogaN. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One who has attained the ambrosial Name of the immaculate God enjoys the bliss of spiritual wisdom. ||1||Pause||
Yule ambaye amepata Jina la ambrosia la Mungu safi kabisa anafurahia raha tele ya hekima ya kiroho. ||1||Sitisha||

ਸਿਵ ਨਗਰੀ ਮਹਿ ਆਸਣਿ ਬੈਸਉ ਕਲਪ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਬਾਦੰ ॥
siv nagree meh aasan baisa-o kalap ti-aagee baadaN.
O’ Yogi, renouncing the thoughts of worldly strife and desires, I stay attuned to the thoughts of God.
Ee Yogi, nikikana fikira za ugomvi na hamu za kidunia, nabaki nimemakinikia fikira za Mungu.

ਸਿੰਙੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਧੁਨਿ ਸੋਹੈ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਨਾਦੰ ॥੨॥
sinyee sabad sadaa Dhun sohai ahinis poorai naadaN. ||2||
The word of the Guru is ringing within me day and night, which is like the melodious tune of the horn. ||2||
Neno la Guru linatetema ndani mwangu mchana na usiku, ambalo ni kama tuni ya kimelodia ya baragumu,

ਪਤੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ਗਿਆਨ ਮਤਿ ਡੰਡਾ ਵਰਤਮਾਨ ਬਿਭੂਤੰ ॥
pat veechaar gi-aan mat dandaa varatmaan bibhootaN.
Reflection on God’s virtues is my begging bowl, awakened intellect is my staff, to deem God’s presence everywhere is the ashes I apply to my body.
Kutafakari kuhusu fadhila za Mungu bakuli yangu ya kuombaomba, uwekevu uliochangamka ni fimbo langu, kufikiria uwepo wa Mungu ni majivu ninayopaka kwenye mwili wangu.

ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਰਹਰਾਸਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੰਥੁ ਅਤੀਤੰ ॥੩॥
har keerat rahraas hamaaree gurmukh panth ateetaN. ||3||
To sing His praises is my daily routine and to live according to the Guru’s teachings is my ascetic path. ||3||
Kuimba sifa zake ni shughuli yangu ya kila siku na kuishi kulingana na mafundisho ya Guru ni njia yangu ya kujinyima anasa.

ਸਗਲੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਸੰਮਿਆ ਨਾਨਾ ਵਰਨ ਅਨੇਕੰ ॥
saglee jot hamaaree sammi-aa naanaa varan anaykaN.
To see God’s light in its myriad ways in all creatures is the wooden support for my arm.
Kuona mwanga wa Mungu katika maelfu ya njia zake katika viumbe vyote ni nguzo ya mbao ya mkono wangu.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਣਿ ਭਰਥਰਿ ਜੋਗੀ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਲਿਵ ਏਕੰ ॥੪॥੩॥੩੭॥
kaho naanak sun bharthar jogee paarbarahm liv aykaN. ||4||3||37||
Nanak says, listen O’ Bharthar Yogi, to remain attuned to the all-pervading God is my only passion. ||4||3||37||
Nanak anasema, sikiliza Ee Bharthar Yogi, kubaki nimemakinikia Mungu anayeenea kote ni shauku yangu ya pekee.

ਗੁੜੁ ਕਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਧਾਵੈ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਕਸੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
gurh kar gi-aan Dhi-aan kar Dhaavai kar karnee kas paa-ee-ai.
O’ Yogi, (to distill the divine Nectar), make spiritual wisdom as molasses,meditation on God’s Name as scented flowers and good deeds as the herbs.
Ee Yogi, (ili kutonesha Nekta takatifu), fanya hekima ya kiroho iwe kama molasi, kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu kuwa maua yanayonukia na vitendo vizuri kama mitishamba.

ਭਾਠੀ ਭਵਨੁ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਾ ਪੋਚਾ ਇਤੁ ਰਸਿ ਅਮਿਉ ਚੁਆਈਐ ॥੧॥
bhaathee bhavan paraym kaa pochaa it ras ami-o chu-aa-ee-ai. ||1||
Let burning away the bodily attachments be the furnace and loving adoration of God be the coolant to obtain a steady stream of divine nectar.||1||
Acha kuteketeza kwa viambatisho vyote vya kimwili kuwe tanuri na kuabudu Mungu kwa upendo kuwe kipozi cha kupata mkondo usiobadilika wa nekta takatifu.

ਬਾਬਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਤਵਾਰੋ ਨਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਸਹਜ ਰੰਗ ਰਚਿ ਰਹਿਆ ॥
baabaa man matvaaro naam ras peevai sahj rang rach rahi-aa.
O’ Baba, by drinking this divine nectar the mind becomes tranquil and intuitively remains imbued with God’s love.
Ee Baba, kwa kunywa nekta hii takatifu akili inakuwa tulivu na kisilika inabaki imejawa na upendo wa Mungu.

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਬਨੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਨਾਹਦ ਗਹਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ahinis banee paraym liv laagee sabad aanaahad gahi-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By listening the continuous melody of the Guru’s divine word, the mind always remains attuned to the loving adoration of God. ||1||Pause||
Kwa kusikiliza melodia isiyo na mwisho ya neno takatifu la Guru, akili daima inabaki imemakinikia kuabudu kwa upendo kwa Mungu. ||1||Sitisha||

ਪੂਰਾ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਿਆਲਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪੀਆਏ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ॥
pooraa saach pi-aalaa sehjay tiseh pee-aa-ay jaa ka-o nadar karay.
The Perfect God imperceptibly gives this drink of divine elixir to the one upon whom He casts His glance of grace.
Kwa utaratibu Mungu Kamili anatoa kinywaji hiki cha dawa takatifu kwa yule ambaye anampa mtazamo wake wa neema.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਕਿਆ ਮਦਿ ਛੂਛੈ ਭਾਉ ਧਰੇ ॥੨॥
amrit kaa vaapaaree hovai ki-aa mad chhoochhai bhaa-o Dharay. ||2||
One who tastes this divine elixir, how could he ever love the worldly wine? ||2||
Yule anayeonja dawa hii takatifu, atawezaje kuwahi kupenda divai ya kidunia?

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਾਖੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਪੀਵਤ ਹੀ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
gur kee saakhee amrit banee peevat hee parvaan bha-i-aa.
The Guru’s teachings is like the ambrosial nectar, one is approved in God’s court by partaking this nectar.
Mafundisho ya Guru ni kama nekta ya ambrosia, mtu anaidhinishwa katika mahakama ya Mungu kwa kushiriki nekta hii.

ਦਰ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੈ ਕਰੈ ਕਿਆ ॥੩॥
dar darsan kaa pareetam hovai mukat baikunthay karai ki-aa. ||3||
The one who becomes a lover of God’s court and His blessed vision, of what use is liberation or paradise to him ||3|
Yule anayekuwa mpenda wa mahakama ya Mungu na mwono wake uliobarikiwa, kuna manufaa gani kwa ukombozi na paradiso kwake

ਸਿਫਤੀ ਰਤਾ ਸਦ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਜੂਐ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹਾਰੈ ॥
siftee rataa sad bairaagee joo-ai janam na haarai.
Imbued with God’s Praises, one is forever a renunciate and he does not loose in the game of life.
Akijawa na Sifa za Mungu, mtu daima ni mkanaji na hapotezi katika mchezo wa maisha.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਣਿ ਭਰਥਰਿ ਜੋਗੀ ਖੀਵਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਧਾਰੈ ॥੪॥੪॥੩੮॥
kaho naanak sun bharthar jogee kheevaa amrit Dhaarai. ||4||4||38||
Nanak says, listen, O Bharthar Yogi, such a person always remains intoxicated with the nectar of God’s Name. ||4||4||38||
Nanak anasema, sikiliza, Ee Bharthar Yogi, mtu kama huyo daima anabaki amelevya na nekta ya Jina la Mungu.

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

ਖੁਰਾਸਾਨ ਖਸਮਾਨਾ ਕੀਆ ਹਿੰਦੁਸਤਾਨੁ ਡਰਾਇਆ ॥
khurasan khasmana kee-aa hindustan daraa-i-aa.
Having conquered Khurasaan, Baabar left it under the care of somebody else and went ahead to terrify Hindustan.
Akiwa ameshinda Khurasaan, Baabar aliiacha katika utunzaji wa mtu mwengine na akaendelea kutisha Hindustan.

ਆਪੈ ਦੋਸੁ ਨ ਦੇਈ ਕਰਤਾ ਜਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਮੁਗਲੁ ਚੜਾਇਆ ॥
aapai dos na day-ee kartaa jam kar mughal charhaa-i-aa.
The Creator doesn’t take the blame on Himself; to punish the Rulers of India, God sent Babar, the demon of death to attack India.
Muumba hakuchukui lawama kwake Mwenyewe; kuadhibu Watawala wa India, Mungu alituma Babar, pepo wa kifo kushambulia India.

ਏਤੀ ਮਾਰ ਪਈ ਕਰਲਾਣੇ ਤੈਂ ਕੀ ਦਰਦੁ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
aytee maar pa-ee karlaanay taiN kee darad na aa-i-aa. ||1||
During the attack, so much tyranny was inflicted on the people that they cried out in pain. In spite of all this did You not feel any compassion? ||1||
Katika shambulizi hilo, ubabe mwingi sana uliathiri watu kwamba walilia kwa uchungu. Licha ya yote haya Wewe hukuhisi rehema yoyote?

ਕਰਤਾ ਤੂੰ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
kartaa tooN sabha kaa so-ee.
O’ Creator, You are the cherisher of all.
Ee Muumba, Wewe ndiwe mthamini wa vyote.

ਜੇ ਸਕਤਾ ਸਕਤੇ ਕਉ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਾ ਮਨਿ ਰੋਸੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jay saktaa saktay ka-o maaray taa man ros na ho-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
If a powerful person hits another equally powerful person, then one doesn’t feel bad in the mind. ||1||Pause||
Iwapo mtu mwenye nguvu agonge mtu mwengine mwenye nguvu sawa naye, basi mtu hahisi vibaya akilini. ||1||Sitisha||

ਸਕਤਾ ਸੀਹੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਪੈ ਵਗੈ ਖਸਮੈ ਸਾ ਪੁਰਸਾਈ ॥
saktaa seehu maaray pai vagai khasmai saa pursaa-ee.
But if a powerful tiger attacks a flock of sheep and kills them, then its master must answer as to why he didn’t protect the sheep?
Lakini iwapo simbamarara mwenye nguvu ashambulie kondoo na kuwaua, basi bwana wake lazima awajibike kuhusu kwa nini hakulinda kondoo?

ਰਤਨ ਵਿਗਾੜਿ ਵਿਗੋਏ ਕੁਤੀ ਮੁਇਆ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥
ratan vigaarh vigo-ay kuteeN mu-i-aa saar na kaa-ee.
These dog like Mughal soldiers have so mutilated the jewel-like bodies of innocent people that nobody can recognize or take care of the dead.
Wapiganaji hao kama mbwa wamelemeza miili kama vito ya watu wasio na hatia kwamba hakuna anayeweza kutambua au kujali wafu.

ਆਪੇ ਜੋੜਿ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨॥
aapay jorh vichhorhay aapay vaykh tayree vadi-aa-ee. ||2||
O’ God, on Your own, You unite and separate Your beings. I see in this also a sign of Your greatness. ||2||
Ee Mungu, Wewe Mwenyewe, unaunganisha na kutenganisha viumbe vyako. Katika hayo pia naona ishara ya ukuu wako.

ਜੇ ਕੋ ਨਾਉ ਧਰਾਏ ਵਡਾ ਸਾਦ ਕਰੇ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੇ ॥
jay ko naa-o Dharaa-ay vadaa saad karay man bhaanay.
Even if one assumes a great Name and revel in worldly pleasures,
Hata iwapo mtu achukue Jina kuu na kujifurahisha katika raha za kidunia,

ਖਸਮੈ ਨਦਰੀ ਕੀੜਾ ਆਵੈ ਜੇਤੇ ਚੁਗੈ ਦਾਣੇ ॥
khasmai nadree keerhaa aavai jaytay chugai daanay.
but for the Master-God, he is still a lowly worm.
Lakini kwa Bwana-Mungu, bado yeye ni minyoo duni.

ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਤਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੇ ॥੩॥੫॥੩੯॥
mar mar jeevai taa kichh paa-ay naanak naam vakhaanay. ||3||5||39||
O’ Nanak, the one who eradicates his ego as if he is dead even when alive; he achieves the purpose of human life by meditating on Naam .||3||5||39||
Ee Nanak, yule anayeondoa ubinafsi wake kana kwamba amekufa hata akiwa bado hai; anatimiza kusudi la maisha ya binadamu kwa kutafakari kuhusu Naam.

ਰਾਗੁ ਆਸਾ ਘਰੁ ੨ ਮਹਲਾ ੩

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One Eternal God. Realized only by the grace of the True Guru:
Mungu Mmoja wa Milele. Anayegunduliwa tu kwa neema ya Guru wa Kwali:

ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਵਡਭਾਗਿ ॥
har darsan paavai vadbhaag.
It is only by great good fortune that a person receives the Guru’s teachings to unite with God.
Ni kwa bahati nzuri kuu pekee ambapo mtu anapokea mafundisho ya Guru ya kuungana na Mungu.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੈ ਬੈਰਾਗਿ ॥
gur kai sabad sachai bairaag.
It is attained by following the Guru’s teachings and feeling the pain of separation from God.
Unapatwa kwa kufuata mafundisho ya Guru na kuhisi uchungu wa utengano kutoka kwa Mungu.

ਖਟੁ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ॥
khat darsan vartai vartaaraa.
Even though the six shastra are being propagated in the world
Hata iwapo shastra sita za dunia zinatangazwa duniani
