ਆਸਾ ਘਰੁ ੫ ਮਹਲਾ ੧

Raag Aasaa, Fifth Beat, First Guru:
Raag Aasaa, Mpigo wa Tano, Guru wa Kwanza:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One Eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
Mungu Mmoja wa Milele, anayegunduliwa kwa neema ya Guru wa kweli:

ਭੀਤਰਿ ਪੰਚ ਗੁਪਤ ਮਨਿ ਵਾਸੇ ॥
bheetar panch gupat man vaasay.
The five evil passions (lust, anger, greed, attachment and ego) dwell hidden within the mind.
Shauku tano (ukware, hasira, tamaa, kiambatisho na ubinafsi) zinaishi zikiwa zimefichwa ndani mwa akili.

ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹਹਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਭਵਹਿ ਉਦਾਸੇ ॥੧॥
thir na raheh jaisay bhaveh udaasay. ||1||
They do not remain still, but move around like wanderers. ||1||
Hazibaki tulivu, bali zinasonga songa kama wanaotangatanga.

ਮਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਇਆਲ ਸੇਤੀ ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹੈ ॥
man mayraa da-i-aal saytee thir na rahai.
My mind does not attune to the remembrance of the merciful God.
Akili yangu haimakiniki kwa ukumbusho wa Mungu mwenye huruma.

ਲੋਭੀ ਕਪਟੀ ਪਾਪੀ ਪਾਖੰਡੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਧਿਕ ਲਗੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
lobhee kaptee paapee paakhandee maa-i-aa aDhik lagai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
It is too much influenced by worldly riches; therefore it has become greedy, deceitful and a hypocritical sinner. ||1||Pause||
Imeshawishiwa zaidi na utajiri wa kidunia; hivyo basi imekuwa na tamaa, yenye udanganyifu na mtenda dhambi mwenye unafiki. ||1||Sitisha||

ਫੂਲ ਮਾਲਾ ਗਲਿ ਪਹਿਰਉਗੀ ਹਾਰੋ ॥
fool maalaa gal pahir-ugee haaro.
I would wear the garland of flowers around my neck.
Ningevaa shada la maua shingoni pangu.

ਮਿਲੈਗਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਤਬ ਕਰਉਗੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੋ ॥੨॥
milaigaa pareetam tab kar-ugee seegaaro.||2||
and I would adorn myself only when I will meet my Beloved-God. ||2||
Na ningejipamba wakati tu nitakutana na Mungu Mpendwa wangu.

ਪੰਚ ਸਖੀ ਹਮ ਏਕੁ ਭਤਾਰੋ ॥
panch sakhee ham ayk bhataaro.
We five friends (sight, smell, sound, touch and taste) have one master, the soul.
Sisi marafiki watano (kuona, kunusa, kusikia, kugusa na kuonja) tuna bwana mmoja, roho.

ਪੇਡਿ ਲਗੀ ਹੈ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਚਾਲਣਹਾਰੋ ॥੩॥
payd lagee hai jee-arhaa chaalanhaaro. ||3||
It is ordained from the very beginning that the soul must depart. ||3||
Imeagizwa kutoka mwanzoni kabisa kwamba roho lazima iondoke.

ਪੰਚ ਸਖੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਰੁਦਨੁ ਕਰੇਹਾ ॥
panch sakhee mil rudan karayhaa.
(When the soul departs), the five friends (senses) will grieve together.
(Wakati roho inaondoka), marafiki watano (hisi) wataomboleza pamoja.

ਸਾਹੁ ਪਜੂਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੇਖਾ ਦੇਹਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੩੪॥
saahu pajootaa paranvat naanak laykhaa dayhaa. ||4||1||34||
O’ Nanak, it is the soul which is caught and has to account for all the deeds done in the human body. ||4||1||34||
Ee Nanak, ni roho ambayo inashikwa na lazima itoe akaunti ya vitendo vyote vilivyofanywa na mwili wa binadamu.

ਮਨੁ ਮੋਤੀ ਜੇ ਗਹਣਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਉਣੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੂਤ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
man motee jay gahnaa hovai pa-un hovai soot Dhaaree.
If a soul-bride makes her mind like a pure pearl and uttering God’s Name with every breath into a thread to string the pearls,
Iwapo roho kama bi harusi afanye akili yake iwe kama lulu safi na kutamka Jina la Mungu kwa kila pumzi anayopumua kama uzi wa kuweka lulu hizo.

ਖਿਮਾ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਤਨਿ ਪਹਿਰੈ ਰਾਵੈ ਲਾਲ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥
khimaa seegaar kaaman tan pahirai raavai laal pi-aaree.||1||
and adorns her body with forgiveness, then becoming the beloved of her husband-God, she enjoys His union.||1||
Na apambe mwili wake kwa msamaha, basi akiwa mpendwa wa Mume-Mungu wake, anafurahia muungano wake.

ਲਾਲ ਬਹੁ ਗੁਣਿ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਮੋਹੀ ॥
laal baho gun kaaman mohee.
O’ my Beloved God, the soul-bride is completely fascinated by Your many virtues,
Ee Mungu wangu Mpendwa, roho kama bi harusi amevutiwa kabisa na fadhila zako nyingi,

ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਹੋਹਿ ਨ ਅਵਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tayray gun hohi na avree. ||1|| rahaa-o.
because she cannot see unique virtues like Yours in anyone else.||1||Pause||
kwa sababu hawezi kuona fadhila nyingi za kipekee kama zako kwa yeyote mwengine. ||1||Sitisha||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਰੁ ਕੰਠਿ ਲੇ ਪਹਿਰੈ ਦਾਮੋਦਰੁ ਦੰਤੁ ਲੇਈ ॥
har har haar kanth lay pahirai daamodar dant lay-ee.
If she wears the necklace of continuous remembrance of God’s Name around her neck and if she makes God’s Name as her toothbrush,
Iwapo avae mkufu wa ukumbusho wa kila wakati wa Jina la Mungu shingoni pake na iwapo afanye Jina la Mungu liwe mswaki wake,

ਕਰ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਕੰਗਨ ਪਹਿਰੈ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਧਰੇਈ ॥੨॥
kar kar kartaa kangan pahirai in biDh chit Dharay-ee. ||2||
and devotional service of the Creator as the bracelets on her hands; In this way her mind would remain attuned to God. ||2||
na huduma ya ujitoaji wa Muumba kama bangili kwenye mikono yake; kwa njia hii akili yake itabaki imemakinikia Mungu.

ਮਧੁਸੂਦਨੁ ਕਰ ਮੁੰਦਰੀ ਪਹਿਰੈ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਪਟੁ ਲੇਈ ॥
maDhusoodan kar mundree pahirai parmaysar pat lay-ee.
She should make meditation on God as her ring and His support as her silken robe.
Yeye atafanya kutafakari kuhusu Mungu kuwe pete yake na tegemezo yake kama joho lake la hariri.

ਧੀਰਜੁ ਧੜੀ ਬੰਧਾਵੈ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਸ੍ਰੀਰੰਗੁ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਦੇਈ ॥੩॥
Dheeraj Dharhee banDhaavai kaaman sareerang surmaa day-ee. ||3||
The soul-bride should weave patience into the braids of her hair and use God’s love as eye cosmetic. ||3||
Roho kama bi harusi anafaa kufuma subira katika vishungi vya nywele yake na kutumia upendo wa Mungu kama kipodozi chake cha macho.

ਮਨ ਮੰਦਰਿ ਜੇ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਜਾਲੇ ਕਾਇਆ ਸੇਜ ਕਰੇਈ ॥
man mandar jay deepak jaalay kaa-i-aa sayj karay-ee.
If she lights the lamp of divine knowledge in her mind and prepare her heart for God to dwell in it,
Iwapo awashe taa ya maarifa takatifu akilini mwake na kutayarisha moyo wake ili Mungu aishi humo,

ਗਿਆਨ ਰਾਉ ਜਬ ਸੇਜੈ ਆਵੈ ਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਭੋਗੁ ਕਰੇਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੩੫॥
gi-aan raa-o jab sayjai aavai ta naanak bhog karay-ee. ||4||1||35||
when she realizes the sovereign God, the bestower of spiritual wisdom, in her heart, then she enjoys the bliss of His union, O’ Nanak. ||4||1||35||
wakati anagundua Mungu mwenyezi, mtawaza wa hekima ya kiroho, moyoni mwake, basi anafurahia raha tele ya muungano wake, Ee Nanak.

ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਇਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਹੀਐ ਭਾਈ ॥
keetaa hovai karay karaa-i-aa tis ki-aa kahee-ai bhaa-ee.
O’ brothers, nothing is in the control of people, that alone happens which God makes them to do.
Ee ndugu, hakuna kitu kipo katika udhibiti wa watu, hicho pekee kinatendeka ambacho Mungu anawafanya watende.

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਣਾ ਸੋ ਕਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਿਆ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥੧॥
jo kichh karnaa so kar rahi-aa keetay ki-aa chaturaa-ee. ||1||
God is doing whatever He has to do; of what use is anyone’s cleverness? ||1||
Mungu anafanya chochote ambacho Yeye lazima afanye; kuna manufaa gani kwa ujanja wa mtu yeyote?

ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਭਲਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
tayraa hukam bhalaa tuDh bhaavai.
O’ God, Your will is sweet to the one who is pleasing to You.
Ee Mungu, mapenzi yako ni tamu kwa yule ambaye anapendeza kwako.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਾਈ ਸਾਚੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naanak taa ka-o milai vadaa-ee saachay naam samaavai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ Nanak, he alone is honored who remains absorbed in Naam. ||1||Pause||
Ee Nanak, yeye pekee anaheshimika anayebaki amevama katika Naam. ||1||Sitisha||

ਕਿਰਤੁ ਪਇਆ ਪਰਵਾਣਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
kirat pa-i-aa parvaanaa likhi-aa baahurh hukam na ho-ee.
Our destiny is pre-written according to our past deeds and it does not get changed.
Hatima yetu imeandikwa mbeleni kulingana na vitendo vyetu vya awali na haibadilishwi.

ਜੈਸਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤੈਸਾ ਪੜਿਆ ਮੇਟਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੨॥
jaisaa likhi-aa taisaa parhi-aa mayt na sakai ko-ee. ||2||
As it is written, so it comes to pass; no one can erase it. ||2||
Vile ambavyo imeandikwa, ndivyo inavyotendeka; hakuna mtu anaweza kuifuta.

ਜੇ ਕੋ ਦਰਗਹ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਬੋਲੈ ਨਾਉ ਪਵੈ ਬਾਜਾਰੀ ॥
jay ko dargeh bahutaa bolai naa-o pavai baajaaree.
If someone keeps making objections on one’s preordained destiny, it doesn’t help at all and such a one becomes known as a cheap talkative person.
Iwapo mtu anatoa mapingamizi mara kwa mara kuhusu hatima yake iliyoagiziwa mapema, haisaidii hata kidogo na mtu kama huyo anakuja kujulikana kama mtu mwenye matamshi mengi yasiyo na thamani.

ਸਤਰੰਜ ਬਾਜੀ ਪਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਚੀ ਆਵੈ ਸਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
satranj baajee pakai naahee kachee aavai saaree. ||3||
Just like a board game, a person who doesn’t live by God’s Will, does not reach God’s court and remains a loser in life.||3||
Kama vile michezo ya ubao, mtu ambaye haishi kwa Mapenzi ya Mungu, hafikii mahakama ya Mungu na anabaki mpotezaji maishani.

ਨਾ ਕੋ ਪੜਿਆ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਬੀਨਾ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਮੰਦਾ ॥
naa ko parhi-aa pandit beenaa naa ko moorakh mandaa.
By himself no one is literate, learned or wise; no one is ignorant or evil.
Kwa hiari yake mwenyewe hakuna ambaye ameelimika, msomi au mwenye busara; hakuna ambaye ni mjinga au muovu.

ਬੰਦੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਕਰਾਏ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਕਹੀਐ ਬੰਦਾ ॥੪॥੨॥੩੬॥
bandee andar sifat karaa-ay taa ka-o kahee-ai bandaa. ||4||2||36||
When God makes a person praise Him while living within His will, only then that person is called a true human being. ||4||2||36||
Wakati Mungu anafanya mtu amsifu wakati anaishi katika mapenzi yake, wakati huo pekee ndio mtu huyo anaitwa binadamu wa kweli.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਨੈ ਮਹਿ ਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਖਿੰਥਾ ਖਿਮਾ ਹਢਾਵਉ ॥
gur kaa sabad manai meh mundraa khinthaa khimaa hadhaava-o.
O Yogi, I consider the Guru’s word enshrined in the mind as my earrings and I wear the patched coat of compassion
Ee Yogi, nafikiria neno la Guru lililothaminiwa akilini kuwa vipuli vyangu na navaa koti yenye madoa ya ukarimu

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਉ ਸਹਜ ਜੋਗ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਵਉ ॥੧॥
jo kichh karai bhalaa kar maan-o sahj jog niDh paava-o.||1|
Whatever God does, I deem that as the best thing. In this effortless way I attain the treasure of Yoga or union with God.||1|
Chochote Mungu anachofanya, nakifikiria kuwa kitu kizuri kabisa. Kwa njia hii rahisi napata hazina ya Yoga au muungano na Mungu.
