ਇਹੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੇਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਚਾਲੈ ਝੂਠੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਈ ॥
ih moh maa-i-aa tayrai sang na chaalai jhoothee pareet lagaa-ee.
This emotional attachment to Maya in which you have entangled yourself, will not go with you; it is false to fall in love with it.
Kiambatisho hiki cha kihisia cha Maya ambacho umejinasa nacho, hakitakwenda nawe; ni ya uongo kupendezwa nacho.

ਸਗਲੀ ਰੈਣਿ ਗੁਦਰੀ ਅੰਧਿਆਰੀ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
saglee rain gudree anDhi-aaree sayv satgur chaanan ho-ay.
Your entire night life has passed away in the darkness of ignorance; but now through the Guru’s teachings, you shall be enlightened with the Divine knowledge.
Maisha yako yote kama usiku yamepita katika giza ya ujinga; lakini sasa kupitia mafundisho ya Guru, utaangazwa kwa maarifa takatifu.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਚਉਥੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਨੇੜੈ ਆਇਆ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥
kaho naanak paraanee cha-uthai pahrai din nayrhai aa-i-aa so-ay. ||4||
Nanak says, in the the fourth watch of the night-life (old age), the appointed day of death is coming near.
Nanak anasema, katika mtazamo wa nne wa maisha kama usiku (uzee), siku iliyoteuliwa ya kifo inakaribia.

ਲਿਖਿਆ ਆਇਆ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਉਠਿ ਚਲੇ ਕਮਾਣਾ ਸਾਥਿ ॥
likhi-aa aa-i-aa govind kaa vanjaari-aa mitraa uth chalay kamaanaa saath.
O my mortal friend, when the summons from God arrives, one must depart from this world along with the account of deeds done during the lifetime.
Ee rafiki yangu binadamu, wakati mwito kutoka Mungu unafika, mtu lazima aondoke kutoka dunia hii pamoja na akaunti ya vitendo vilivyotendwa maishani mwake.

ਇਕ ਰਤੀ ਬਿਲਮ ਨ ਦੇਵਨੀ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਓਨੀ ਤਕੜੇ ਪਾਏ ਹਾਥ ॥
ik ratee bilam na dayvnee vanjaari-aa mitraa onee takrhay paa-ay haath.
One is not allowed even a moment’s delay, O my mortal friend; the Messenger of Death seizes him with firm hands.
Mtu haruhusiwi hata kuchelea kwa muda mfupi, Ee rafiki wangu binadamu; Mjumbe wa kifo anamkamata kwa mikono thabiti.

ਲਿਖਿਆ ਆਇਆ ਪਕੜਿ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਹੇਲੇ ॥
likhi-aa aa-i-aa pakarh chalaa-i-aa manmukh sadaa duhaylay.
Receiving the summons, mortals are seized and dispatched. The self-willed (manmukh) always suffer great pain.
Wakipokea miito, binadamu wanakamatwa na kuondoshwa. Wenye wasia binafsi (manmukh) daima anateseka kwa uchungu mkuu.

ਜਿਨੀ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਸੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ॥
jinee pooraa satgur sayvi-aa say dargeh sadaa suhaylay.
(On the other hand) Those who have followed the teachings of the True Guru go to God’s Court in great comfort.
(Kwa upande mwengine) wale ambao wamefuata mafundisho ya Guru wa kweli wanaenda katika mahakama ya Mungu katika starehe kuu.

ਕਰਮ ਧਰਤੀ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਜੁਗ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋ ਬੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਖਾਤਿ ॥
karam Dhartee sareer jug antar jo bovai so khaat.
In this human life, the body is like a field of Karma (deeds) in which one shall reap whatever one sows.
Katika maisha haya ya kibinadamu, mwili ni kama uwanja wa Karma (vitendo) ambao ndani mwake mtu atavuna chochote atakachopanda.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਦਰਵਾਰੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਸਦਾ ਭਵਾਤਿ ॥੫॥੧॥੪॥
kaho naanak bhagat soheh darvaaray manmukh sadaa bhavaat. ||5||1||4||
Nanak says, the devotees are honored in the Court of the Almighty, whereas the self conceited persons or Manmukh wander forever in the cycles of birth & death.
Nanak anasema, wafuasi wanaheshimika katika mahakama ya Mwenyezi, ilhali watu wenye majivuno binafsi ama Manmukh wanzurura milele katika mizunguko ya kuzaliwa na kufa.

ਮੁੰਧ ਇਆਣੀ ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਿਖੈ ॥
munDh i-aanee pay-ee-arhai ki-o kar har darsan pikhai.
How can the ignorant bride (soul), while living in her parents house (in this world), obtain the Blessed Vision of her spouse God
Bi harusi (roho) atawezaje, wakati anaishi kwa nyumba ya wazazi wake (duniani humu), kupata mtazamo uliobarikiwa ya mwenzie wa ndoa Mungu

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਹੁਰੜੈ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਖੈ ॥
har har apnee kirpaa karay gurmukh saahurrhai kamm sikhai.
If God shows His Mercy, then through the Guru’s guidance the bride (soul) learns the ways of her Husband’s (God’s) house.
Iwapo Mungu aonyeshe Huruma yake, basi kupitia mwongozo wa Guru bi harusi (roho) anajifunza njia inayoelekea nyumba ya mume wake (Mungu).

ਸਾਹੁਰੜੈ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਖੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
saahurrhai kamm sikhai gurmukh har har sadaa Dhi-aa-ay.
To learn the ways of her Husband’s (God’s) house, under the Guru’s teachings, she (the soul) always meditates on God’s Name.
Kujifunza njia za kuelekea kwa nyumba ya Mume (Mungu) wake, akifuata mafundisho ya Guru daima yeye (roho) anatafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu.

ਸਹੀਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਸੁਹੇਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਬਾਹ ਲੁਡਾਏ ॥
sahee-aa vich firai suhaylee har dargeh baah ludaa-ay.
She (bride soul), walks happily amongst her (Gurmukh) friends, and goes to God’s Court joyfully swinging her arms (without worry).
Yeye (roho kama bi harusi), anatembea kwa furaha kati ya rafiki (Gurmukh) wake, na anaenda kwenye mahakama ya Mungu kwa furaha akizungusha mikono yake (bila wasiwasi).

ਲੇਖਾ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕੀ ਬਾਕੀ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਿਰਖੈ ॥
laykhaa Dharam raa-ay kee baakee jap har har naam kirkhai.
She (the soul) pays back the debt of Karma to the righteous judge by meditating on God’ Name.
Yeye (roho) analipiza deni ya Karma kwa hakimu wa haki kwa kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu.

ਮੁੰਧ ਇਆਣੀ ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦਿਖੈ ॥੧॥
munDh i-aanee pay-ee-arhai gurmukh har darsan dikhai. ||1||
Then, by Guru’s Grace, while still living in her parent’s house (this world), the innocent bride (soul) sees the sight of her Husband (God).
Kisha, kwa Neema ya Guru, akiwa bado anaishi kwa nyumba ya wazazi wake (dunia hii), bi harusi (roho) asiye na hatia anaona Mume (Mungu) wake.

ਵੀਆਹੁ ਹੋਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬੁਲਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
vee-aahu ho-aa mayray babulaa gurmukhay har paa-i-aa.
O’ my father, by the Guru’s Grace I am married (spiritually united) with God.
Ee baba yangu, kwa Neema ya Guru nimeolewa (kuunganishwa kiroho) na Mungu.

ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਕਟਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡੁ ਬਲਾਇਆ ॥
agi-aan anDhayraa kati-aa gur gi-aan parchand balaa-i-aa.
The darkness of ignorance has been dispelled. The Guru has revealed the blazing light of spiritual wisdom.
Giza ya ujinga imeondolewa. Guru amedhihirisha mwanga unaong’aa wa busara ya kiroho.

ਬਲਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਲਾਧਾ ॥
bali-aa gur gi-aan anDhayraa binsi-aa har ratan padaarath laaDhaa.
This spiritual wisdom given by the Guru shines forth, and the darkness has been dispelled. I have found the Priceless Jewel of the Naam.
Busara hii ya kiroho inayotolewa na Guru unang’aa, na giza hiyo imeondolewa. Nimepata johari ya Naam isiyoweza kukadiriwa.

ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਇਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਥਾ ਆਪੁ ਆਪੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਖਾਧਾ ॥
ha-umai rog ga-i-aa dukh laathaa aap aapai gurmat khaaDhaa.
My malady of Ego has been dispelled, my sorrows are over, the Guru’s teachings helped me consume my egoistic nature.
Ugonjwa wangu wa ubinafsi umeondolewa, huzuni zangu zimekwisha, mafundisho ya Guru yalinisaidia kuangamiza hali yangu ya ubinafsi.

ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਇਆ ॥
akaal moorat var paa-i-aa abhinaasee naa kaday marai na jaa-i-aa.
I have obtained the immortal and imperishable God as my Groom, who never dies or goes anywhere.
Nimepata Mungu anayedumu milele na asiyeangamia kama Bwana Harusi wangu, ambaye kamwe hafi wala kuenda kokote.

ਵੀਆਹੁ ਹੋਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬੋਲਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
vee-aahu ho-aa mayray baabolaa gurmukhay har paa-i-aa. ||2||
O my dear father, my marriage (union with God) has been solemnized, and through the Guru’s teachings, I have realized God (within myself).
Ee baba yangu mpendwa, ndoa yangu (muungano na Mungu) imesheherekewa, na kupitia mafundisho ya Guru, nimegundua Mungu (ndani mwangu).

ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬੁਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੰਞ ਸੁਹੰਦੀ ॥
har sat satay mayray babulaa har jan mil janj suhandee.
O’ my dear father, eternal is my (groom) God, joining together, the devotees of God make an impressive marriage party.
Ee baba yangu mpendwa, Mungu (bwana harusi) wangu ni wa milele, wafuasi wa Mungu wanatengeza sherehe ya kuvutia ya ndoa.

ਪੇਵਕੜੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਾਹੁਰੜੈ ਖਰੀ ਸੋਹੰਦੀ ॥
payvkarhai har jap suhaylee vich saahurrhai kharee sohandee.
.By meditating on God’s name, I live peacefully in my parent’s home (this world), and will enjoy respect in God’s house as well.
Kwa kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu, naishi kwa amani katika nyumba ya wazazi wangu (dunia hii), na nitafurahia heshima katika nyumba ya Mungu pia.

ਸਾਹੁਰੜੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਖਰੀ ਸੋਹੰਦੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੇਵਕੜੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿਆ ॥
saahurrhai vich kharee sohandee jin payvkarhai naam samaali-aa.
Certainly respected are those brides (souls) who meditated on His Name while still living in this world.
Hakika bi harusi (roho) hao wanaheshimika ambao walitafakari Jina lake wakiwa wanaishi duniani humu.

ਸਭੁ ਸਫਲਿਓ ਜਨਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਦਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨੁ ਜਿਣਿ ਪਾਸਾ ਢਾਲਿਆ ॥
sabh safli-o janam tinaa daa gurmukh jinaa man jin paasaa dhaali-aa.
Fruitful is the life of those who, by Guru’s Grace, have controlled their mind and carefully played the game (of life).
Yamefanikiwa maisha ya wale ambao, kwa Neema ya Guru, wamedhibiti akili yao na kwa uangalifu wakacheza mchezo (wa maisha).

ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸੋਹਿਆ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਨੰਦੀ ॥
har sant janaa mil kaaraj sohi-aa var paa-i-aa purakh anandee.
By joining together with God’s devotees, wedding (union with God) becomes beautiful, the all pervading God who is the source of Supreme bliss is realized.
Kwa kujiunga pamoja na wafuasi wa Mungu, harusi (muungano na Mungu) inakuwa nzuri, na Mungu anayeenea kote ambaye ni chanzo cha furaha tele kuu anagunduliwa.

ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬੋਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੰਞ ਸੋੁਹੰਦੀ ॥੩॥
har sat sat mayray baabolaa har jan mil janj sohandee. ||3||
O’ my dear father, true and eternal is my (Groom) God and with the presence of the God’s devotees, the marriage party looks beautiful.
Ee baba yangu mpendwa, Mungu (bwana harusi) wangu ni wa kweli na anadumu milele na pamoja na uwepo wa wafuasi wa Mungu, sherehe ya ndoa inakaa vizuri.
