ਝੂਠਾ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਜੋਰਿ ਚਲਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
jhootha parpanch jor chalaa-i-aa. ||2||
Misusing its power, he runs a false show of worldly wealth and power. ||2||
Akitumia vibaya nguvu yake, anaendesha onyesho la uongo la utajiri na nguvu ya kidunia.

ਕਿਨਹੂ ਲਾਖ ਪਾਂਚ ਕੀ ਜੋਰੀ ॥
kinhoo laakh paaNch kee joree.
Some amassed hundreds of thousands of dollars (lots of worldly wealth),
Wengine walikusanya mamia ya maelfu ya madola (utajiri mwingi wa kidunia),

ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਬਾਰ ਗਗਰੀਆ ਫੋਰੀ ॥੩॥
ant kee baar gagree-aa foree. ||3||
but in the end, like the breaking of an earthen pitcher, their body also dies. |3|

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਇਕ ਨੀਵ ਉਸਾਰੀ ॥ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੧॥੯॥੬੦॥
kahi kabeer ik neev usaaree.khin meh binas jaa-ay ahaNkaaree. ||4||1||9||60||
Kabeer says: O’ the arrogant one, the foundation on which your body was built will perish in an instant. ||4||1||9||60||
Kabeer anasema: Ee mtu mwenye kiburi, msingi ambao mwili wako ulitengenezwa utaharibika kwa muda mfupi.

Raag Gauree:

ਰਾਮ ਜਪਉ ਜੀਅ ਐਸੇ ਐਸੇ ॥
raam japa-o jee-a aisay aisay.
O’ my soul, meditate on God with the same love and devotion,
Ee roho yangu, tafakari kuhusu Mungu kwa upendo na ujitoaji sawa,

ਧ੍ਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਜਪਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਜੈਸੇ ॥੧॥
Dharoo par-hilaad japi-o har jaisay.||1||
like the devotees Dharoo and Prahalad contemplated on Him. ||1||
Kama vile watawa Dharoo na Prahalad walitafakari kuhusu Yeye.

ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਭਰੋਸੇ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
deen da-i-aal bharosay tayray.
O’ merciful God of the meek, placing all my faith in You;
Ee Mungu mwenye huruma wa wapole, nikiweka imani yangu yote kwako;

ਸਭੁ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ਚੜਾਇਆ ਬੇੜੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sabh parvaar charhaa-i-aa bayrhay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I have engaged all my family (sensory organs) in meditation on Your Name. ||1||Pause||
Nimeshughulisha familia yangu yote (viungo vya hisi) katika kutafakari kuhusu Jina lako. ||1||Sitisha||

ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮਨਾਵੈ ॥
jaa tis bhaavai taa hukam manaavai.
When it so pleases God, He makes us (the sensory organs) to obey His command,
Wakati unaopendeza Mungu, Yeye anatufanya (viungo vya hisi) tutii amri yake,

ਇਸ ਬੇੜੇ ਕਉ ਪਾਰਿ ਲਘਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
is bayrhay ka-o paar laghaavai. ||2||
and makes this ship (the human body) cross over the world-ocean of vices. ||2||
na anafanya meli hii (mwili wa binadamu) kuvuka bahari-dunia ya dhambi.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਐਸੀ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥
gur parsaad aisee buDh samaanee.
By the Guru’s grace, when someone’s mind is enlightened with such a wisdom,
Kwa neema ya Guru, wakati akili ya mtu inaangazwa na hekima kama hiyo,

ਚੂਕਿ ਗਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
chook ga-ee fir aavan jaanee. ||3||
then his cycle of birth and death ends forever. ||3||
basi mzunguko wake wa kuzaliwa na kufa unatamatika milele.

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਭਜੁ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨੀ ॥
kaho kabeer bhaj saarigpaanee.
Kabeer says, o’ my mind meditate on God,
Kabeer anasema, Ee akili yangu tafakari kuhusu Mungu,

ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਸਭ ਏਕੋ ਦਾਨੀ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੦॥੬੧॥
urvaar paar sabh ayko daanee. ||4||2||10||61||
Who alone is the benefactor everywhere, in this world and the world beyond. ||4||2||10||61||
Ambaye peke yake ndiye mfadhili kila mahali, duniani humu na katika dunia ya ahera.

ਗਉੜੀ ੯ ॥
ga-orhee 9.
Raag Gauree: 9.

ਜੋਨਿ ਛਾਡਿ ਜਉ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਓ ॥
jon chhaad ja-o jag meh aa-i-o.
Leaving the mother’s womb when the mortal comes to this world,
Akitoka kwenye tumbo la mama wakati binadamu anakuja duniani humu,

ਲਾਗਤ ਪਵਨ ਖਸਮੁ ਬਿਸਰਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
laagat pavan khasam bisraa-i-o. ||1||
as soon as he takes his first breath, he forgets his Master-God. ||1||.
Mara tu anapochukua pumzi yake ya kwanza, anasahau Bwana-Mungu wake.

ਜੀਅਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਨਾ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jee-araa har kay gunaa gaa-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my soul, sing the praises of God. ||1||Pause||
Ee roho yangu, imba sifa za Mungu. ||1||Sitisha||

ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਉਰਧ ਤਪੁ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
garabh jon meh uraDh tap kartaa.
One meditates on God while hanging upside down in the womb and
Mtu anatafakari kuhusu Mungu akining’inia kichwa chini miguu juu katika tumbo la mama na

ਤਉ ਜਠਰ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਤਾ ॥੨॥
ta-o jathar agan meh rahtaa. ||2||
survives amidst the fire of the womb. ||2||
kuishi kati ya moto wa tumbo la mama.

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਆਇਓ ॥
lakh cha-oraaseeh jon bharam aa-i-o.
One passes through millions of births before attaining the human life,
Mtu anapita kupitia mamilioni ya kuzaliwa kabla ya kupata maisha ya binadamu,

ਅਬ ਕੇ ਛੁਟਕੇ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਇਓ ॥੩॥
ab kay chhutkay tha-ur na thaa-i-o. ||3||
but if he misses even this opportunity (to unite with God), then he would never find any spiritual stability. ||3||
lakini iwapo akose hata fursa hii (ya kuungana na Mungu), kisha kamwe hatawahi kupata uthabiti wowote wa kiroho.

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਭਜੁ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨੀ ॥
kaho kabeer bhaj saarigpaanee.
Kabeer says, meditate on God,
Kabeer anasema, tafakari kuhusu Mungu,

ਆਵਤ ਦੀਸੈ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੧॥੬੨॥
aavat deesai jaat na jaanee. ||4||1||11||62||
who is limmortal, and therefore is) neither seen coming nor going. ||4||1||11||62||
ambaye hawezi kufa, na hivyo basi haonekani kuja wala kuenda.

ਗਉੜੀ ਪੂਰਬੀ ॥
ga-orhee poorbee.
Raag Gauree Poorbee:

ਸੁਰਗ ਬਾਸੁ ਨ ਬਾਛੀਐ ਡਰੀਐ ਨ ਨਰਕਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
surag baas na baachhee-ai daree-ai na narak nivaas.
We should neither long for an abode in paradise nor have any fear of falling into hell.
Hatufai kutamani makao katika paradiso wala kuwa na hofu yoyote kuhusu kuanguka jehanamu.

ਹੋਨਾ ਹੈ ਸੋ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਮਨਹਿ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਆਸ ॥੧॥
honaa hai so ho-ee hai maneh na keejai aas. ||1||
What has to happen must happen, so we should not build any hopes in our mind. ||1||
Chochote kinapaswa kutendeka lazima kitendeke, basi hatufai kuweka matumaini yoyote akilini mwetu.

ਰਮਈਆ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
rama-ee-aa gun gaa-ee-ai.
We should always sing praises of the all-pervading God,
Daima tunafaa kuimba sifa za Mungu anayeenea kote,

ਜਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਰਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaa tay paa-ee-ai param niDhaan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
from whom we obtain the most exalted treasure of Naam. ||1||Pause||
ambaye kutoka kwake tunapata hazina tukufu zaidi ya Naam. ||1||Sitisha||

ਕਿਆ ਜਪੁ ਕਿਆ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੋ ਕਿਆ ਬਰਤੁ ਕਿਆ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
ki-aa jap ki-aa tap sanjamo ki-aa barat ki-aa isnaan.
What good is any contemplation, austerities, self-discipline, any fasts or baths at holy places?
Kuna manufaa gani kwa kutafakari kwokwote, ukali, nidhamu binafsi, kufunga kwokwote au kuoga katika pahali patakatifu?

ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਨੀਐ ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੨॥
jab lag jugat na jaanee-ai bhaa-o bhagat bhagvaan. ||2||
unless we know the way to worship God with loving devotion.||2||
isipokuwa tujue njia ya kuabudu Mungu kwa ujitoaji wa upendo.

ਸੰਪੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਨ ਹਰਖੀਐ ਬਿਪਤਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਨ ਰੋਇ ॥
sampai daykh na harkhee-ai bipat daykh na ro-ay.
We should not feel elated at the sight of worldly wealth nor grieve during troubles.
Hatufai kuhisi furaha kwa mwono wa utajiri wa kidunia wala kuomboleza wakati wa matatizo.

ਜਿਉ ਸੰਪੈ ਤਿਉ ਬਿਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਬਿਧ ਨੇ ਰਚਿਆ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
ji-o sampai ti-o bipat hai biDh nay rachi-aa so ho-ay. ||3||
As is wealth, so is adversity; whatever God proposes, comes to pass ||3||
Kama ulivyo utajiri, ndivyo ilivyo dhiki; chochote Mungu anachopendekeza, kinatendeka

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਅਬ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਸੰਤਨ ਰਿਦੈ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥
kahi kabeer ab jaani-aa santan ridai majhaar.
Kabir says, now I have understood that God does not reside in any heaven; He dwells in the hearts of His saints.
Kabir anasema, sasa nimeelewa kwamba Mungu haishi mbinguni popote; Yeye anaishi katika mioyo ya watakatifu wake.

ਸੇਵਕ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਾ ਭਲੇ ਜਿਹ ਘਟ ਬਸੈ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨॥੬੩॥
sayvak so sayvaa bhalay jih ghat basai muraar. ||4||1||12||63||
The devotees in whose heart dwells God, look beautiful performing devotional worship.||4||1||12||63||
Watawa ambao katika mioyo yao Mungu anaishi, wanakaa wazuri wakifanya ibada ya ujitoaji.

ਗਉੜੀ ॥

ਰੇ ਮਨ ਤੇਰੋ ਕੋਇ ਨਹੀ ਖਿੰਚਿ ਲੇਇ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਾਰੁ ॥
ray man tayro ko-ay nahee khinch lay-ay jin bhaar.
O’ my mind, no one will come to your rescue in the end; so don’t carry the burden of sins for the sake of others.
Ee akili yangu, hakuna mtu atakuja kukuokoa mwishowe; basi usibebe mzigo wa dhambi kwa ajili ya wengine.

ਬਿਰਖ ਬਸੇਰੋ ਪੰਖਿ ਕੋ ਤੈਸੋ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
birakh basayro pankh ko taiso ih sansaar. ||1||
This world is temporary abode for humans like the nests of birds on the trees.|1|
Dunia hii ni makao yasiyodumu ya binadamu kama viota vya ndege kwenye miti.

ਰਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਆ ਰੇ ॥
raam ras pee-aa ray.
O’ my brother, I have partaken the elixir of God’s Name,
Ee ndugu yangu, nimeshiriki dawa ya Jina la Mungu,

ਜਿਹ ਰਸ ਬਿਸਰਿ ਗਏ ਰਸ ਅਉਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jih ras bisar ga-ay ras a-or. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and after tasting the elixir of Naam, I have forgotten all other tastes. |1||Pause||
na baada ya kuonja dawa ya Naam, nimesahau vionjo vyote vingine. ||1||Sitisha||

ਅਉਰ ਮੁਏ ਕਿਆ ਰੋਈਐ ਜਉ ਆਪਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹਾਇ ॥
a-or mu-ay ki-aa ro-ee-ai ja-o aapaa thir na rahaa-ay.
Why should we weep at the death of others when we ourselves are not going to live permanently?
Kwa nini tuombeleze wakati wengine wanakufa wakati sisi wenyewe hatutaishi milele?

ਜੋ ਉਪਜੈ ਸੋ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਹੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਰਿ ਰੋਵੈ ਬਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
jo upjai so binas hai dukh kar rovai balaa-ay. ||2||
Whoever is born shall pass away; why should we cry out in grief? ||2||
Yeyote ambaye amezaliwa ataaga dunia; kwa nini tulie kwa majonzi?

ਜਹ ਕੀ ਉਪਜੀ ਤਹ ਰਚੀ ਪੀਵਤ ਮਰਦਨ ਲਾਗ ॥
jah kee upjee tah rachee peevat mardan laag.
The soul of those remain attuned to the supreme soul who partake the elixir of Naam in the holy congregation,
Roho yao inabaki imemakinikia roho kuu ambao wanashiriki dawa ya Naam katika ushirika mtakatifu,

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਚਿਤਿ ਚੇਤਿਆ ਰਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਬੈਰਾਗ ॥੩॥੨॥੧੩॥੬੪॥
kahi kabeer chit chayti-aa raam simar bairaag. ||3||2||13||64||
Kabir says, those who keep their conscious attuned to God, become detached from the world. ||3||2||13||64||.
Kabir anasema, wale wanaoweka fahamu yao imemakinikia Mungu, wanajitenga kutoka dunia.

ਰਾਗੁ ਗਉੜੀ ॥

Raag Gauree:

ਪੰਥੁ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ਕਾਮਨੀ ਲੋਚਨ ਭਰੀ ਲੇ ਉਸਾਸਾ ॥
panth nihaarai kaamnee lochan bharee lay usaasaa.
Just as a young bride gazes at the path on which her husband would return from abroad and sighs with tearful eyes,
Kama vile bi harusi mdogo anatazama njia ambayo mume wake atarudi kutoka ng’ambo na anatusha pumzi kwa macho yenye machozi,
