ਉਰ ਨ ਭੀਜੈ ਪਗੁ ਨਾ ਖਿਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਆਸਾ ॥੧॥
ur na bheejai pag naa khisai har darsan kee aasaa. ||1||
her heart does not find any solace and she does not move from that place. Similar is the state of that true devotee who hopes to see the sight of the beloved God. ||1||.
Moyo wake haupati faraja yoyote wala hasongi kutoka mahali hapo. Ndivyo ilivyo hali ya mtawa huyo wa kweli anayetumai kuona Mungu mpendwa

ਉਡਹੁ ਨ ਕਾਗਾ ਕਾਰੇ ॥
udahu na kaagaa kaaray.
O’ black crow, fly away and bring the news of my Groom-God,
Ee kunguru mweusi, peperuka na ulete habari ya Mume-Mungu wangu,

ਬੇਗਿ ਮਿਲੀਜੈ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਰਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bayg mileejai apunay raam pi-aaray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
so that I may quickly meet my Beloved God. ||1||Pause||
ili niweze kukutana haraka na Mungu wangu Mpendwa. ||1||Sitisha||

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦ ਕਾਰਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥
kahi kabeer jeevan pad kaaran har kee bhagat kareejai.
Kabir says, to obtain the supreme spiritual state in life, we should worship God with loving devotion.
Kabir anasema, ili kupata hali kuu ya kiroho maishani, tunafaa kuabudu Mungu kwa ujitoaji wa upendo.

ਏਕੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਨ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵੀਜੈ ॥੨॥੧॥੧੪॥੬੫॥
ayk aaDhaar naam naaraa-in rasnaa raam raveejai. ||2||1||14||65||
We should depend on the support of God’s Name alone and with our tongue we should recite God’s Name. ||2||1||14||65||
Tunafaa kutegemea tegemezo ya Jina la Mungu pekee na kwa ulimi wetu tunafaa kukariri Jina la Mungu.

ਆਸ ਪਾਸ ਘਨ ਤੁਰਸੀ ਕਾ ਬਿਰਵਾ ਮਾਝ ਬਨਾ ਰਸਿ ਗਾਊਂ ਰੇ ॥
aas paas ghan tursee kaa birvaa maajh banaa ras gaa-ooN ray.
Where there is a thick growth of sweet basil, there in the woods lord Krishna was singing with great joy.
Mahali ambapo kuna ukuzi mzito wa mrehani mtamu, pale msituni bwana Krishna alikuwa anaimba kwa furaha tele.

ਉਆ ਕਾ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਮੋਹੀ ਗੁਆਰਨਿ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਆਉ ਨ ਜਾਹੂ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
uaa kaa saroop daykh mohee guaaran mo ka-o chhod na aao na jaahoo ray. |1|
Beholding His wondrous beauty the milk-maid was entranced and said, “Please don’t leave me; please don’t come and go!”||1||
Akitazama uzuri wake wa ajabu kijakazi wa kike wa maziwa alistaajabishwa na kusema, “Tafadhali usiniache; tafadhali usije na kuenda!”

ਤੋਹਿ ਚਰਨ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗੋ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਧਰ ॥
tohi charan man laago saaringDhar.
O’ my God, like that milkmaid my heart is attuned to Your love.
Ee Mungu wangu, kama huyo kijakazi kike wa maziwa moyo wangu umemakinikia upendo wake.

ਸੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਜੋ ਬਡਭਾਗੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
so milai jo badbhaago. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Yet that person alone realizes You who is very fortunate. ||1||Pause||
Ila mtu huyo pekee anakugundua Wewe ambaye amebahatika mno. ||1||Sitisha||

ਬਿੰਦ੍ਰਾਬਨ ਮਨ ਹਰਨ ਮਨੋਹਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਚਰਾਵਤ ਗਾਊ ਰੇ ॥
bindraaban man haran manohar krisan charaavat gaa-oo ray.
O’ God, just as lord Krishna who used to herd cows in Vrindavan, he was the enticer of the poor milk maids,
Ee Mungu, kama vile bwana Krishna ambaye alikuwa mchungaji wa ng’ombe katika Vrindavan, yeye alikuwa mvutiaji wa vijakazi kike wa maziwa maskini.

ਜਾ ਕਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਤੁਹੀ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਧਰ ਮੋਹਿ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਨਾਊ ਰੇ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੫॥੬੬॥
jaa kaa thaakur tuhee saaringDhar mohi kabeeraa naa-oo ray. ||2||2||15||66||
similarly please show mercy on me whose Name is Kabir and whose Master are You. ||2||2||15||66||
vivyo hivyo tafadhali nionee huruma mimi ambaye jina langu ni Kabir na Bwana wangu ni Wewe.

ਬਿਪਲ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਕੇਤੇ ਹੈ ਪਹਿਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਬਨ ਮਧੇ ਬਾਸਾ ॥
bipal bastar kaytay hai pahiray ki-aa ban maDhay baasaa.
What is the use of wearing loose gowns, what is the use of living in jungles?
Kuna manufaa gani kwa kuvaa gauni legevu, kuna manufaa gani kwa kuishi nyikani?

ਕਹਾ ਭਇਆ ਨਰ ਦੇਵਾ ਧੋਖੇ ਕਿਆ ਜਲਿ ਬੋਰਿਓ ਗਿਆਤਾ ॥੧॥
kahaa bha-i-aa nar dayvaa Dhokhay ki-aa jal bori-o gi-aataa.||1||
What is the use of burning incense before gods? What good does it do to dip one’s body in some holy river, if one has not attained divine wisdom ?||1||
Kuna manufaa gani kwa kuchoma ubani mbele ya miungu? Kuna manufaa gani kwa kutumbukiza mwili katika mto mtakatifu, iwapo mtu hajapata hekima takatifu?

ਜੀਅਰੇ ਜਾਹਿਗਾ ਮੈ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥
jee-aray jaahigaa mai jaanaaN.
O’ my soul, I know that you have to depart from this world.
Ee roho yangu, najua kwamba lazima uondoke kutoka dunia hii.

ਅਬਿਗਤ ਸਮਝੁ ਇਆਨਾ ॥
abigat samajh i-aanaa.
Therefore O’ my ignorant mind, understand the eternal God.
Hivyo basi Ee akili yangu mjinga, elewa Mungu wa milele.

ਜਤ ਜਤ ਦੇਖਉ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਪੇਖਉ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਲਪਟਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jat jat daykh-a-u bahur na paykha-o sang maa-i-aa laptaanaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ mortal, You are clinging to the transient worldly wealth but wherever I see, I don’t find it the same as before. ||1||Pause||
Ee binadamu, unashikamana na utajiri wa kidunia unaopita lakini popote ninapoangalia, siupati kuwa sawa kama hapo awali. ||1||Sitisha||

ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਿਆਨੀ ਬਹੁ ਉਪਦੇਸੀ ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਸਗਲੋ ਧੰਧਾ ॥
gi-aanee Dhi-aanee baho updaysee ih jag saglo DhanDhaa.
The spiritual teachers, meditators and the great preachers are all engrossed in these worldly affairs.
Walimu wa kiroho, watafakari na wahubiri wakuu wote wamevama katika shughuli za kidunia.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਇਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਇਆ ਜਗੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਅੰਧਾ ॥੨॥੧॥੧੬॥੬੭॥
kahi kabeer ik raam naam bin i-aa jag maa-i-aa anDhaa. ||2||1||16||67||
Kabir says: without meditating on God’s Name, this entire world is blinded by Maya. ||2||1||16||67||
Kabir anasema: bila kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu, dunia hii nzima imepofushwa na Maya.

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਛਾਡਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਇ ਨਾਚਹੁ ਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਡਾਂਡੇ ॥
man ray chhaadahu bharam pargat ho-ay naachahu i-aa maa-i-aa kay daaNday.
O’ my mind, you are the victim of Maya; abandon your doubts and fearlessly engage in devotional worship.
Ee akili yangu, wewe ni muathiriwa wa Maya; achana na shaka zako na bila uoga jishughulishe katika ibada ya kujitolea.

ਸੂਰੁ ਕਿ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਨ ਤੇ ਡਰਪੈ ਸਤੀ ਕਿ ਸਾਂਚੈ ਭਾਂਡੇ ॥੧॥
soor ke sanmukh ran tay darpai satee ke saaNchai bhaaNday. ||1||
What kind of a warrior is he who is afraid to face the battle. A woman can’t be a sati (burn on the pyre with her husband) if she starts worrying about worldly wealth at that time. ||1||
Aina gani ya shujaa ndiye ambaye anaogopa kukabiliana na vita. Mwanamke hawezi kuwa sati (kuchomeka katika marundo ya kuni ya maziko na mume wake) iwapo awe na wasiwasi kuhusu utajiri wa kidunia wakati huo.

ਡਗਮਗ ਛਾਡਿ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ॥
dagmag chhaad ray man ba-uraa.
O’ my crazy mind, stop wavering.
Ee akili yangu mwenye kichaa, acha kuyumba.

ਅਬ ਤਉ ਜਰੇ ਮਰੇ ਸਿਧਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਲੀਨੋ ਹਾਥਿ ਸੰਧਉਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ab ta-o jaray maray siDh paa-ee-ai leeno haath sanDh-uraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Like a woman who accepts Sanhaura (Challenge) has to die by burning herself on the pyre of her husband, similarly, O’ my mind, once you have decided to be a true devotee, stop wavering and do not let vices overpower you. ||1||Pause||
Kama mwanamke anayekubali Sanhaura (mwito mgumu) lazima afe kwa kujiteketeza katika marundo ya kuni ya maziko ya mume wake, vivyo hivyo, Ee akili yangu, mara tu unapoamua kuwa mtawa wa kweli, acha kuyumba na usiache maovu yakushinde nguvu.

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਲੀਨੇ ਇਆ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਬਿਗੂਤਾ ॥
kaam kroDh maa-i-aa kay leenay i-aa biDh jagat bigootaa.
Some are lured by lust, some by anger and others by Maya. In this way the entire world is being ruined.
Wengine wanavutiwa na ukware, wengine na hasira na wengine na Maya. Kwa njia hii dunia nzima inaharibiwa.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਨ ਛੋਡਉ ਸਗਲ ਊਚ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੭॥੬੮॥
kahi kabeer raajaa raam na chhoda-o sagal ooch tay oochaa. ||2||2||17||68||
Kabir says, I wouldn’t forsake the sovereign God, who is highest of the high. ||2||2||17||68||
Kabir anasema, siwezi kumuacha Mungu mwenyezi, ambaye ni wa juu zaidi kwa wote.

Raag Gauree: 13.

ਫੁਰਮਾਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਿਰੈ ਊਪਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਨ ਕਰਤ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
furmaan tayraa sirai oopar fir na karat beechaar.
O’ God, Your command is absolute for me and I do not question it.
Ee Mungu, amri yako ni kamili kwangu na siyaulizi maswali kuihusu.

ਤੁਹੀ ਦਰੀਆ ਤੁਹੀ ਕਰੀਆ ਤੁਝੈ ਤੇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰ ॥੧॥
tuhee daree-aa tuhee karee-aa tujhai tay nistaar. ||1||
You are the river and You are the boatman; it is by Your grace that I will be ferried across this worldly ocean of vices. ||1||
Wewe ndiwe mto na Wewe ndiwe nahodha; ni kwa neema yako ambapo nitavukishwa bahari hii ya kidunia ya dhambi.

ਬੰਦੇ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਇਕਤੀਆਰ ॥
banday bandagee iktee-aar.
O human being, embrace God’s devotional worship,
Ee binadamu, kumbatia ibada ya kujitolea kwa Mungu,

ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਰੋਸੁ ਧਰਉ ਕਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saahib ros Dhara-o ke pi-aar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
whether God is angry with you or in love with you. ||1||Pause||
iwapo Mungu amekasirishwa na wewe au amependezwa na wewe. ||1||Sitisha||

ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਿਉ ਫੂਲੁ ਜਈ ਹੈ ਨਾਰਿ ॥
naam tayraa aaDhaar mayraa ji-o fool ja-ee hai naar.
O’ God, just as water is essential for flowers similarly Your Name is my support.
Ee Mungu, kama vile maji ni muhimu kwa maua vivyo hivyo Jina lako ni tegemezo yangu.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਗੁਲਾਮੁ ਘਰ ਕਾ ਜੀਆਇ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੨॥੧੮॥੬੯॥
kahi kabeer gulaam ghar kaa jee-aa-ay bhaavai maar. ||2||18||69||
Kabeer says, O’ Master, I am Your servant; it is up to You whether You keep me or abandon me. ||2||18||69||
Kabeer anasema, Ee Bwana, mimi ni mtumishi wako; ni uamuzi wako iwapo utaniweka au utaniacha.

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੀਅ ਜੋਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਨੰਦੁ ਬਹੁ ਥਾਕੋ ਰੇ ॥
lakh cha-oraaseeh jee-a jon meh bharmat nand baho thaako ray.
Wandering through millions of births, Nand (God father of Lord Krishna) was totally exhausted.
Akizurura kupitia mamilioni ya kuzaliwa kwingi, Nand (Mungu baba wa Bwana Krishna) alichoka kabisa.

ਭਗਤਿ ਹੇਤਿ ਅਵਤਾਰੁ ਲੀਓ ਹੈ ਭਾਗੁ ਬਡੋ ਬਪੁਰਾ ਕੋ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
bhagat hayt avtaar lee-o hai bhaag bado bapuraa ko ray.||1||
According to preordained good destiny, Nand worshipped God and because of which he was blessed with the opportunity to raise lord krishana as his son. ||1||
Kulingana na hatima nzuri iliyoagiziwa mapema, Nand alimuabudu Mungu na kwa hiyo alibarikiwa na fursa ya kukuza bwana Krishna kama mwana wake.

ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਜੁ ਕਹਤ ਹਉ ਨੰਦ ਕੋ ਨੰਦਨੁ ਨੰਦ ਸੁ ਨੰਦਨੁ ਕਾ ਕੋ ਰੇ ॥
tumH jo kahat ha-o nand ko nandan nand so nandan kaa ko ray.
You say that (Krishna) was the son of Nand, but tell me whose son was Nand himself?
Unasema kwamba (Krishna) alikuwa mwana wa Nand, lakini niambie Nand mwenyewe alikuwa mwana wa nani?

ਧਰਨਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਬ ਇਹੁ ਨੰਦੁ ਕਹਾ ਥੋ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Dharan akaas daso dis naahee tab ih nand kahaa tho ray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
When there was no earth or sky andthe ten directions, then where was this Nand, the father of lord krishna? ||1||Pause||
Wakati hakukuwa na dunia wala anga na mielekeo kumi, basi alikuwa wapi huyu Nand, baba wa bwana Krishna? ||1||Sitisha||
