ਆਂਧੀ ਪਾਛੇ ਜੋ ਜਲੁ ਬਰਖੈ ਤਿਹਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਜਨੁ ਭੀਨਾਂ ॥
aaNDhee paachhay jo jal barkhai tihi tayraa jan bheenaaN.
O’ God, Your devotee then got drenched with the nectar of Naam which fell like rain after the storm of divine knowledge.
Ee Mungu, kisha mtawa wako alilowa kwa nekta ya Naam iliyomwagika kama mvua baada ya dhoruba ya maarifa takatifu.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਮਨਿ ਭਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ਉਦੈ ਭਾਨੁ ਜਬ ਚੀਨਾ ॥੨॥੪੩॥
kahi kabeer man bha-i-aa pargaasaa udai bhaan jab cheenaa. ||2||43||
Kabeer says, my mind became enlightened with divine knowledge, just like the environment gets illuminated with sunrise after the storm and rain. ||2||43||.
Kabeer anasema, akili yangu iliangazwa kwa maarifa takatifu, kama vile mazingira yanaangazwa na mpambazuko wa jua baada ya dhoruba na mvua.

ਗਉੜੀ ਚੇਤੀ

Raag Gauree Chaytee:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God. realized by the grace of the true Guru:
Mungu Mmoja wa milele. Anayegunduliwa kwa neema ya Guru wa kweli:

ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਨਹਿ ਨ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹਿ ॥
har jas suneh na har gun gaavahi.
There are some people who do not sing or listen to God’s praises,
Kuna watu wengine ambao hawaimbi wala kusikiliza sifa za Mungu,

ਬਾਤਨ ਹੀ ਅਸਮਾਨੁ ਗਿਰਾਵਹਿ ॥੧॥
baatan hee asmaan giraaveh. ||1||
but just by mere talk they claim to perform miracles as if they can bring down the sky with their talks. ||1||
lakini kwa matamshi bure wanadai kutenda miujiza kana kwamba wanaweza kushusha anga kwa matamshi yao.

ਐਸੇ ਲੋਗਨ ਸਿਉ ਕਿਆ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
aisay logan si-o ki-aa kahee-ai.
There is no use trying to instill some sense into such people,
Hakuna manufaa kwa kujaribu kufanya waungwana watu kama hao,

ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀਏ ਭਗਤਿ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਜ ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਡਰਾਨੇ ਰਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo prabh keeay bhagat tay bahaj tin tay sada daraanay rahe hai.||1|| rahaa-o.
We should always avoid those people whom God has excluded from His devotional worship. ||1||Pause||
Daima tunafaa kuepuka watu hao ambao Mungu ametenga kutoka ibada yake ya kujitolea. ||1||Sitisha||

ਆਪਿ ਨ ਦੇਹਿ ਚੁਰੂ ਭਰਿ ਪਾਨੀ ॥
aap na deh churoo bhar paanee.
They themselves do no charity; they will not offer even a cup of water to anyone,
Wao wenyewe hawafanyi hisani yoyote; hawatatoa hata kikombe cha maji kwa yeyote,

ਤਿਹ ਨਿੰਦਹਿ ਜਿਹ ਗੰਗਾ ਆਨੀ ॥੨॥
tih nindeh jih gangaa aanee. ||2||
but they would slander those who perform great acts of charity like diverting rivers for the benefit of others.||2||
lakini wanaweza kuchongeza wale wanaotenda vitendo vikuu kama kugeuza mikondo ya mito kwa manufaa ya wengine.

ਬੈਠਤ ਉਠਤ ਕੁਟਿਲਤਾ ਚਾਲਹਿ ॥
baithat uthat kutiltaa chaaleh.
All the time they keep playing treacherous games.
Wakati wote wanaendelea kucheza michezo yenye hila.

ਆਪੁ ਗਏ ਅਉਰਨ ਹੂ ਘਾਲਹਿ ॥੩॥
aap ga-ay a-uran hoo ghaaleh. ||3||
Not only they have become worthless but they ruin others as well. ||3||
Sio tu kwamba wamekuwa bure bali wanaharibu wengine pia.

ਛਾਡਿ ਕੁਚਰਚਾ ਆਨ ਨ ਜਾਨਹਿ ॥
chhaad kuchrachaa aan na jaaneh.
They know nothing except evil talk.
Hawajui chochote ila matamshi maovu.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਹੂ ਕੋ ਕਹਿਓ ਨ ਮਾਨਹਿ ॥੪॥
barahmaa hoo ko kahi-o na maaneh. ||4||
They do not heed to advice from the wise people loke Barahma. ||4||
Hawatilii maanane ushauri kutoka watu wenye hekima kama Barahma.

ਆਪੁ ਗਏ ਅਉਰਨ ਹੂ ਖੋਵਹਿ ॥
aap ga-ay a-uran hoo khoveh.
They themselves are lost and they mislead others as well.
Wao wenyewe wamepotea na wanapotosha wengine pia.

ਆਗਿ ਲਗਾਇ ਮੰਦਰ ਮੈ ਸੋਵਹਿ ॥੫॥
aag lagaa-ay mandar mai soveh. ||5||
They commit sins without thinking about the consequences: It is like sleeping in the house after setting it on fire. ||5||
Wanatenda dhambi bila kufikiria kuhusu matokeo yake: ni kama kulala katika nyumba baada ya kuitia moto.

ਅਵਰਨ ਹਸਤ ਆਪ ਹਹਿ ਕਾਂਨੇ ॥
avran hasat aap heh kaaNnay.
They point out even the slightest weakness of others while they themselves are full of faults.
Wanaashiria hata udhaifu mdogo kabisa wa wengine ilhali wao wenyewe wamejawa na makosa.

ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਦੇਖਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਲਜਾਨੇ ॥੬॥੧॥੪੪॥
tin ka-o daykh kabeer lajaanay. ||6||1||44||
O’ Kabeer, it is embarrassing to see such people. ||6||1||44||
Ee Kabeer, kunaaibisha kuona watu kama hao.

jeevat pitar na maanai ko-oo moo-ayN siraaDh karaahee.
People hold feasts to honor and benefit their ancestors but never cared for them when they were alive.
Watu wanafanya sherehe kuenzi na kunufaisha wahenga wao lakini hawakuwajali wakati walikuwa hai.

ਪਿਤਰ ਭੀ ਬਪੁਰੇ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਕਊਆ ਕੂਕਰ ਖਾਹੀ ॥੧॥
pitar bhee bapuray kaho ki-o paavahi ka-oo-aa kookar khaahee. ||1||
Tell me, how can the poor ancestors receive what the crows and the dogs have eaten up? ||1||
Niambie, wahenga maskini watawezaje kupokea kile ambacho kunguru na mbwa wamekula?

ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
mo ka-o kusal bataavhu ko-ee.
If only someone would tell me what real happiness or ecstasy is!
Iwapo tu mtu angeniambia kile ambacho ni furaha au raha kuu ya kweli!

ਕੁਸਲੁ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਜਗੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਭੀ ਕੈਸੇ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kusal kusal kartay jag binsai kusal bhee kaisay ho-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Speaking of happiness and bliss, the entire world is perishing and no one knows how to attain this bliss? ||1||Pause||
Kwa kuzungumza kuhusu furaha na raha tele, dunia nzima inaangamia na hakuna anayejua jinsi ya kufikia raha tele hii? ||1||Sitisha||

ਮਾਟੀ ਕੇ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇਵਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਜੀਉ ਦੇਹੀ ॥
maatee kay kar dayvee dayvaa tis aagai jee-o dayhee.
People sacrifice animals such as goats etc to the clay idols of the angels for the benefit of their ancestors.
Watu wanatoa dhabihu wanyama kama mbuzi na kadhalika kwa sanamu za udongo za malaika kwa manufaa ya wahenga wao.

ਐਸੇ ਪਿਤਰ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ਆਪਨ ਕਹਿਆ ਨ ਲੇਹੀ ॥੨॥
aisay pitar tumaaray kahee-ahi aapan kahi-aa na layhee. ||2||
Such are your ancestors who cannot even ask for what they want. ||2||
Ndivyo walivyo wahenga wenu ambao hawawezi hata kuulizia wanachotaka.

ਸਰਜੀਉ ਕਾਟਹਿ ਨਿਰਜੀਉ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਅੰਤ ਕਾਲ ਕਉ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
sarjee-o kaateh nirjee-o poojeh ant kaal ka-o bhaaree.
People who kill living creatures to appease clay idols of the angels are making their own end miserable.
Watu wanaoua viumbe vinavyoishi ili kutambikia sanamu za udongo za malaika wanataabisha mwisho wao wenyewe.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੀ ਭੈ ਡੂਬੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
raam naam kee gat nahee jaanee bhai doobay sansaaree. ||3||
People do not realize the merit of meditating on God’s Name and are drowning in the dreadful worldly ocean. ||3||
Watu wasiogundua ustahili wa kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu na wanazama katika bahari ya kidunia inayoogofya.

ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇਵਾ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਡੋਲਹਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਾ ॥
dayvee dayvaa poojeh doleh paarbarahm nahee jaanaa.
Instead of realizing the supreme God, people worship gods and goddesses and remain wavering in their faith
Badala ya kugundua Mungu mkuu, watu wanaabudu miungu na miungu-kike na wanaendelea kuyumba katika imani yao

ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਅਕੁਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਚੇਤਿਆ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਸਿਉ ਲਪਟਾਨਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੪੫॥
kahat kabeer akul nahee chayti-aa bikhi-aa si-o laptaanaa.||4||1||45||
Kabeer says, instead of remembering God who is free of any social or family status, they remain entangled in the bonds of of Maya. ||4||1||45||
Kabeer anasema, badala ya kumkumbuka Mungu ambaye yuko huru kutoka hadhi yoyote ya kijamii au kifamilia, wanabaki wamenaswa katika vifungo vya Maya.

Raag Gauree:

ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ਮਰੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਐਸੇ ਸੁੰਨਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
jeevat marai marai fun jeevai aisay sunn samaa-i-aa.
One who so detaches oneself from worldly entanglements that for all practical purposes he is dead to the world, he then lives a life free of worldly distractions.
Yule ambaye anajitenganisha kutoka misongamano ya kidunia kwamba kwa makusudi yote ya kiutendaji amekufa kidunia, yeye kisha anaishi maisha akiwa huru kutoka vigeuza akili vya kidunia.

ਅੰਜਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨਿ ਰਹੀਐ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਭਵਜਲਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
anjan maahi niranjan rahee-ai bahurh na bhavjal paa-i-aa. ||1||
While still living among the temptations of Maya, he remains detached from these and doesn’t fall into the dreadful ocean of worldly existence again. |1|
Wakati bado anaishi kati ya majaribu ya Maya, anabaki amejitenga kutoka hayo na haanguki katika bahari inayoogofya ya kuishi duniani tena.

ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਐਸਾ ਖੀਰੁ ਬਿਲੋਈਐ ॥
mayray raam aisaa kheer bilo-ee-ai.
O’ my God, only then we can continuously recite Naam like churning the yogurt,
Ee Mungu wangu, wakati huo tu ndipo tunaweza kukariri Naam bila mwisho kama kusukasuka maziwa mtindi.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨੂਆ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਓਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gurmat manoo-aa asthir raakho in biDh amrit pee-o-ee-ai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
when through the Guru’s teachings we hold our mind steady against Maya; only this way we can partake the ambrosial nectar of Naam. ||1||Pause||
wakati kupitia mafundisho ya Guru tunaweka akili yetu thabiti dhidi ya Maya; kwa njia hii pekee ndiyo tunaweza kushiriki nekta ya ambrosia ya Naam. ||1||Sitisha||

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਾਣਿ ਬਜਰ ਕਲ ਛੇਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਆ ਪਦੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ॥
gur kai baan bajar kal chhaydee pargati-aa pad pargaasaa.
One who penetrates the hard core of his evil intellect using the Guru’s word as an arrow, his mind gets enlightened with divine knowledge,
Yule anayepenya kiini kigumu cha akili yake mbaya kwa kutumia neno la Guru kama mshale, akili yake inaangazwa kwa maarifa takatifu,

ਸਕਤਿ ਅਧੇਰ ਜੇਵੜੀ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਚੂਕਾ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਿਵ ਘਰਿ ਬਾਸਾ ॥੨॥
sakat aDhayr jayvrhee bharam chookaa nihchal siv ghar baasaa.||2||
just as a mistake of considering rope for a snake in darkness is corrected when the place is lighted, similarly the illusion of Maya vanishes with the light of Naam and one gets absorbed in the blissful God. ||2||
Kama vile kosa la kufikiria kamba kuwa nyoka gizani linakosolewa wakati mahali hapo panawekwa nuru, vivyo hivyo njozi ya Maya inapotea kwa nuru ya Naam na mtu anavama katika Mungu wa raha tele.

ਤਿਨਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਾਣੈ ਧਨਖੁ ਚਢਾਈਐ ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਭਾਈ ॥
tin bin baanai Dhanakh chadhaa-ee-ai ih jag bayDhi-aa bhaa-ee.
O’ brother, one who remained unaffected by Maya by the support of the Guru’s word. It is like conquering the world without mounting the shaft on the bow.
Ee ndugu, yule ambaye haathiriwi na Maya kwa nguzo ya neno la Guru. Ni kama kutawala dunia bila kuweka mpini wa mshale kwenye upinde.
