ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਬੂਡੀ ਪਵਨੁ ਝੁਲਾਵੈ ਡੋਰਿ ਰਹੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੩॥
dah dis boodee pavan jhulaavai dor rahee liv laa-ee. ||3||
He may be going around in search of his livelihood but his mind is always attuned to God like a kite which remains stable because it is attached to its string, although affected by winds from all directions, ||3||
Yeye anaweza kuenda kote akitafuta riziki yake lakini akili yake daima imemakinikia Mungu kama tiara inayobaki imara kwa sababu imeambatishwa kwa uzi, hata kama inaathiriwa na upepo kutoka pande zote,

ਉਨਮਨਿ ਮਨੂਆ ਸੁੰਨਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਭਾਗੀ ॥
unman manoo-aa sunn samaanaa dubiDhaa durmat bhaagee.
His evil intellect and duality vanishes; his mind attains the spiritual state where it is not distracted by Maya.
Uwekevu wake mbaya na uwili unapotea; akili yake inafikia hali ya kiroho ambamo haikengeushwi na Maya.

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਅਨਭਉ ਇਕੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੪॥੨॥੪੬॥
kaho kabeer anbha-o ik daykhi-aa raam naam liv laagee. ||4||2||46||
Kabir says, that person sees an unbelievable wonder within and he remains attuned to God’s Name. ||4||2||46||
Kabir anasema, mtu huyo anaona ajabu ya kustaajabisha ndani mwake na anabaki amemakinikia Jina la Mungu.

ਗਉੜੀ ਬੈਰਾਗਣਿ ਤਿਪਦੇ ॥

Raag Gauree Bairagan, Ti-Padas:

ਉਲਟਤ ਪਵਨ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਖਟੁ ਭੇਦੇ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁੰਨ ਅਨਰਾਗੀ ॥
ultat pawan chakar khat bhayday surat sunn anraagee.
By directing the wandering mind towards God, the mythical ‘six chakras’ are bypassed and the conscience attains the state where there are no worldly distractions.
Kwa kuelekeza akili inayozurura kwa Mungu, ‘chakra sita’ za kihadithi zinapitwa na dhamira inafikia hali ambamo hakuna vikengeushi vya kidunia.

ਆਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜੀਵੈ ਤਾਸੁ ਖੋਜੁ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥੧॥
aavai na jaa-ay marai na jeevai taas khoj bairagee. ||1||
O’ brother, instead of wandering after Maya, search for the God who neither comes nor goes, neither born nor dies.||1||
Ee ndugu, badala ya kuzurura ukifukuza Maya, tafuta Mungu ambaye haji wala kuenda, hazaliwi wala kufa.

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਉਲਟਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥
mayray man man hee ulat samaanaa.
O’ my mind, one can merge with God only by turning his mind away from sinful pursuits.
Ee akili yangu, mtu anaweza tu kuungana na Mungu kwa kugeuza akili yake kutoka harakati zenye dhambi.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਅਕਲਿ ਭਈ ਅਵਰੈ ਨਾਤਰੁ ਥਾ ਬੇਗਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur parsaad akal bha-ee avrai naatar thaa baygaanaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By the Guru’s grace, my understanding about God has improved; before that I was totally ignorant.||1||Pause||
Kwa neema ya Guru, uelewa wangu kuhusu Mungu umeimarika; kabla yake nilikuwa mjinga kabisa. ||1||Sitisha||

ਨਿਵਰੈ ਦੂਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਫੁਨਿ ਨਿਵਰੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਜੈਸਾ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
nivrai door door fun nivrai jin jaisaa kar maani-aa.
One who accepts God wholeheartedly, the vices which were always with him go far away and God whom he never remembered before seems near at hand.
Yule anayemkubali Mungu kikamilifu, maovu ambayo daima yalikuwa naye yanakwenda mbali naye na Mungu ambaye kamwe hakumkumbuka mbeleni anaonekana kuwa karibu mno.

ਅਲਉਤੀ ਕਾ ਜੈਸੇ ਭਇਆ ਬਰੇਡਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੀਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੨॥
alutee kaa jaisay bha-i-aa baraydaa jin pee-aa tin jaani-aa. ||2||
This realization is like the taste of sweet water made from rock candy, only he knows its taste who drinks it. ||2||
Utambuzi huu ni kama kionjo cha maji matamu yanayotengezwa kutoka kendi yenye barafu, yeye pekee anajua kionjo chake ambaye anayakunywa.

ਤੇਰੀ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਕਥਾ ਕਾਇ ਸਿਉ ਕਹੀਐ ਐਸਾ ਕੋਇ ਬਿਬੇਕੀ ॥
tayree nirgun kathaa kaa-ay si-o kahee-ai aisaa ko-ay bibaykee.
O’ God, You are beyond the three modes of Maya, is there anyone with such discerning wisdom with whom I can share Your praises?
Ee Mungu, Wewe unazidi mbinu tatu za Maya, je, kuna yeyote mwenye hekima ya ufahamu ambaye naweza kushiriki sifa zako naye?

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਪਲੀਤਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਤੈਸੀ ਝਲ ਦੇਖੀ ॥੩॥੩॥੪੭॥
kaho kabeer jin dee-aa paleetaa tin taisee jhal daykhee. ||3||3||47||
Kabir says, one’s experience about the wondrous vision of God is according to his intensity of love for God . ||3||3||47||
Kabir anasema, tajriba ya mtu kuhusu mwono wa ajabu wa Mungu ni kulingana na kiwango cha upendo kwa Mungu.

Raag Gauree:

ਤਹ ਪਾਵਸ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਧੂਪ ਨਹੀ ਛਹੀਆ ਤਹ ਉਤਪਤਿ ਪਰਲਉ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
tah paavas sinDh Dhoop nahee chhahee-aa tah utpat parla-o naahee.
In the highest spiritual state, one does not yearn for the mythical places of the angels like the Indra, the Shiva, the Vishnu and the Brahma etc.
Katika hali ya juu zaidi ya kiroho, mtu hatamani mahali pa kihadithi pa malaika kama Indra, Shiva, Vishnu na Brahma na kadhalika.

ਜੀਵਨ ਮਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਦੋਊ ਤਹ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੧॥
jeevan mirat na dukh sukh bi-aapai sunn samaaDh do-oo tah naahee. ||1||
In that state there is no desire to prolong life or fear of death, no feelings of joy or sorrow and no effect of worldly distractions like vices and duality. ||1||
Katika hali hiyo hakuna hamu ya kurefusha maisha au hofu ya kifo, hakuna hisia za furaha au huzuni na hakuna athari ya vikengeushi vya kidunia kama maovu na uwili.

ਸਹਜ ਕੀ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਾਰੀ ॥
sahj kee akath kathaa hai niraaree.
This highest spiritual state of mind is unique and beyond description.
Hali hii ya juu zaidi ya akili ni ya kipekee wala haiwezi kuelezwa.

ਤੁਲਿ ਨਹੀ ਚਢੈ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਮੁਕਾਤੀ ਹਲੁਕੀ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਭਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tul nahee chadhai jaa-ay na mukaatee halukee lagai na bhaaree. ||1|| rahaa-o.
It can’t be measured against any pleasant feeling and it never ends; it always gives the same peace and comfort. ||1||Pause||
haiwezi kukadiriwa dhidi ya hisia yoyote nzuri na kamwe haiishi; daima inatoa amani na starehe sawa. ||1||Sitisha||

ਅਰਧ ਉਰਧ ਦੋਊ ਤਹ ਨਾਹੀ ਰਾਤਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਤਹ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
araDh uraDh do-oo tah naahee raat dinas tah naahee.
In this state of mind there is no upper or lower social class and one is never unaware of worldly evils or run after Maya.
Katika hali hii ya akili hakuna tabaka la juu au la chini la kujamii na kamwe hakuna asiyefahamu maovu ya kidunia wala kufukuza Maya.

ਜਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਵਨੁ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਫੁਨਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤਹਾ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
jal nahee pavan paavak fun naahee satgur tahaa samaahee. ||2||
In that state, there is no world-ocean of vices, instability of mind and longing for Maya; instead only the true Guru’s Mantra pervades in the mind. ||2||
Katika hali hiyo, hakuna bahari-dunia ya dhambi, msukosuko wa akili na tamaa ya Maya; badala yake Mantra ya kweli ya Guru pekee inaenea akilini humo.

ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਲਹੀਐ ॥
agam agochar rahai nirantar gur kirpaa tay lahee-ai.
Then the incomprehensible and Unfathomable God dwells in the mind; but He is realized only by the Guru’s grace.
Kisha Mungu asiyeeleweka na asiyefahamika anaishi akilini humo; lakini Yeye anagunduliwa tu kwa neema ya Guru.

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੀਐ ॥੩॥੪॥੪੮॥
kaho kabeer bal jaa-o gur apunay satsangat mil rahee-ai.||3||4||48||
Kabir says, I dedicate myself to the Guru and we should always remain in the company of our Guru. ||3||4||48||
kabir anasema, najiweka wakfu kwa Guru na daima tunapaswa kubaki katika uandamano wa Guru wetu.

ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਬੈਲ ਬਿਸਾਹੇ ਪਵਨੁ ਪੂਜੀ ਪਰਗਾਸਿਓ ॥
paap punn du-ay bail bisaahay pavan poojee pargaasi-o.
Human beings come to this world With the capital of life breaths; with this capital they purchase virtues and evils like two bullocks.
Binadamu wanakuja duniani humu na rasilimali ya pumzi za uhai; kwa hii rasilimali wananunua fadhila na maovu kama mafahali wawili.

ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਗੂਣਿ ਭਰੀ ਘਟ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਟਾਂਡ ਬਿਸਾਹਿਓ ॥੧॥
tarisnaa goon bharee ghat bheetar in biDh taaNd bisaahi-o. ||1||
Their heart is like a sack filled with worldly desires, as if this is the merchandise they have for trading in this world. ||1||
Moyo wao ni kama mfuko uliojaa hamu za kidunia, kana kwamba hiyo ndiyo bidhaa wanayo ya kuchuuza duniani humu.

ਐਸਾ ਨਾਇਕੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥
aisaa naa-ik raam hamaaraa.
Such a wealthy Banker is our God!
Mungu wetu ni Mkurugenzi wa Benki tajiri wa kipekee!

ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਕੀਓ ਬਨਜਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sagal sansaar kee-o banjaaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
that He has made the entire world like His traders. ||1||Pause||
kwamba Yeye amefanya dunia nzima iwe kama wafanya biashara wake. ||1||Sitisha||

ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਏ ਜਗਾਤੀ ਮਨ ਤਰੰਗ ਬਟਵਾਰਾ ॥
kaam kroDh du-ay bha-ay jagaatee man tarang batvaaraa.
Lust and anger are like the custom-duty collectors and the worldly desires of the mind are like the highway robbers.
Ukware na hasira ni kama watozaji ushuru wa forodha na hamu za kidunia za akili ni kama wezi wa barabarani.

ਪੰਚ ਤਤੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਨਿਬੇਰਹਿ ਟਾਂਡਾ ਉਤਰਿਓ ਪਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
panch tat mil daan nibayreh taaNdaa utri-o paaraa. ||2||
Mortals engrossed in lust, greed and worldly desires completely exhaust their capital and go across with the load of unfulfilled worldly desires. ||2||
Binadamu wakivama katika ukware, tamaa na hamu za kidunia wanamaliza rasilimali yao kabisa na wanavuka na mzigo wa hamu za kidunia ambazo hazijatimizwa.

ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਅਬ ਐਸੀ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
kahat kabeer sunhu ray santahu ab aisee ban aa-ee.
Kabir says, Listen O’ saints, such has become the state of affairs for me,
Kabir anasema, Sikilizeni Ee watakatifu, ndivyo imekuwa hali ya mambo kwangu,

ਘਾਟੀ ਚਢਤ ਬੈਲੁ ਇਕੁ ਥਾਕਾ ਚਲੋ ਗੋਨਿ ਛਿਟਕਾਈ ॥੩॥੫॥੪੯॥
ghaatee chadhat bail ik thaakaa chalo gon chhitkaa-ee. ||3||5||49||
that going uphill on the path of God’s worship, the ox of my evil thoughts is exhausted and has run away throwing off its load of sins and I am left with the ox of my virtues. |3|5|49|
kwamba kupanda mlima wa njia ya ibada ya Mungu, fahali wa fikira zangu mbaya amechoka na ametoroka akirusha mzigo wake wa dhambi na nimeachwa na fahali wa fadhila zangu.

ਗਉੜੀ ਪੰਚਪਦਾ ॥
ga-orhee panchpadaa.
Raag Gauree, Panch-Padas:

ਪੇਵਕੜੈ ਦਿਨ ਚਾਰਿ ਹੈ ਸਾਹੁਰੜੈ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
payvkarhai din chaar hai saahurrhai jaanaa.
For a few short days, the soul-bride stays in her parent’s house (this world); in the end she must go to her in-laws (next world).
Kwa siku chache fupi, roho kama bi harusi anakaa katika nyumba ya wazazi wake (dunia hii); mwishowe lazima aende kwa shemeji zake (dunia itakayofuata).

ਅੰਧਾ ਲੋਕੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਏਆਣਾ ॥੧॥
anDhaa lok na jaan-ee moorakh ay-aanaa. ||1||
But the spiritually blind and ignorant people do not realize this. ||1||
Lakini watu vipofu wa kiroho na wajinga hawagundui haya.

ਕਹੁ ਡਡੀਆ ਬਾਧੈ ਧਨ ਖੜੀ ॥
kaho dadee-aa baaDhai Dhan kharhee.
Tell me, why the soul-bride is still engrossed in worldly affairs?
Niambie, kwa nini roho kama bi harusi bado amevama katika shughuli za kidunia?

ਪਾਹੂ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ਮੁਕਲਾਊ ਆਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paahoo ghar aa-ay muklaa-oo aa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
while guests (the demons) from the in-laws house (from the next world) have come to take her with them. ||1||Pause||
wakati wageni (mapepo) kutoka kwa nyumba ya shemeji (kutoka dunia itakayofuata) wamekuja kumchukua waende naye. ||1||Sitisha||

ਓਹ ਜਿ ਦਿਸੈ ਖੂਹੜੀ ਕਉਨ ਲਾਜੁ ਵਹਾਰੀ ॥
oh je disai khoohrhee ka-un laaj vahaaree.
Who is that lady dropping a rope into that well? (Whoever comes to this world starts living engrossed in worldly pleasures)?
Nani ndiye siti huyo anayerusha kamba ndani mwa kisima hicho? (Yeyote anayekuja duniani humu anaanza kuishi akivama katika raha za kidunia)?

ਲਾਜੁ ਘੜੀ ਸਿਉ ਤੂਟਿ ਪੜੀ ਉਠਿ ਚਲੀ ਪਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
laaj gharhee si-o toot parhee uth chalee panihaaree.||2||
While still engaged in amassing worldly wealth, the body succumbs to death and the soul departs disappointed from the world). ||2||
wakati bado anajihusisha katika kukusanya utajiri wa kidunia, akili inapatwa na maafa na roho inaondoka duniani ikiwa imetamauka).

ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
saahib ho-ay da-i-aal kirpaa karay apunaa kaaraj savaaray.
If the Master-God becomes merciful and shows His kindness on the soul-bride then God can resolve her affair (save her from vices and effects of Maya).
Iwapo Bwana-Mungu awe mwenye huruma na aonyeshe wema wake kwa roho kama bi harusi basi Mungu anaweza kutatua shughuli yake (kumwokoa kutoka maovu na athari za Maya).
