ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ॥੨॥
naanak raam naam Dhan keetaa pooray gur parsaad. ||2||
O’ Nanak, who has deemed God’s Name as his true wealth by the grace of the perfect Guru,.||2||
Ee Nanak, ambaye amefikiria Jina la Mungu kama utajiri wake wa kweli kwa neema ya Guru kamili.

ਧੋਹੁ ਨ ਚਲੀ ਖਸਮ ਨਾਲਿ ਲਬਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਗੁਤੇ ॥
Dhohu na chalee khasam naal lab mohi vigutay.
Deception does not work with the Master-God; they who are engrossed in greed and emotional attachment are ultimately ruined.
Udanganyifu hauna maana kwa Bwana-Mungu; wale ambao wamevama katika tamaa na kiambatisho cha kihisia mwishowe wanaharibiwa.

ਕਰਤਬ ਕਰਨਿ ਭਲੇਰਿਆ ਮਦਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੁਤੇ ॥
kartab karan bhalayri-aa mad maa-i-aa sutay.
Asleep in the intoxication of worldly riches and power, they do evil deeds,
Wakiwa usingizini katika kulevya kwa utajiri na nguvu ya kidunia, wanatenda vitendo viovu.

ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੂਨਿ ਭਵਾਈਅਨਿ ਜਮ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਮੁਤੇ ॥
fir fir joon bhavaa-ee-an jam maarag mutay.
Time and again, they are thrown into the cycles of birth and death and are abandoned on thepath of the demon of death.
Tena na tena, wanatupwa kwenye mizunguko ya kuzaliwa na kufa na wanaachwa kwenye njia ya pepo wa kifo.

ਕੀਤਾ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਦੁਖ ਸੇਤੀ ਜੁਤੇ ॥
keetaa paa-in aapnaa dukh saytee jutay.
They receive the consequences of their own actions, and are put to misery.
Wanapokea matokeo ya vitendo vyao wenyewe, na wanawekwa kwa taabu.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਇ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਐ ਸਭ ਮੰਦੀ ਰੁਤੇ ॥੧੨॥
naanak naa-ay visaari-ai sabh mandee rutay. ||12||
O’ Nanak, one who forgets Naam,for him all the seasons are evil. ||12||
Ee Nanak, yule ambaye anasahau Naam, kwake misimu yote ni mibaya.

ਉਠੰਦਿਆ ਬਹੰਦਿਆ ਸਵੰਦਿਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
uthandi-aa bahandi-aa suvandiaa sukh so-ay.
By meditating on God’s Name we keep enjoying peace Whether sitting, standing, or sleeping at all times.
Kwa kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu tunaendelea kufurahia amani iwapo tunaketi, tunasimama au kulala wakati wote.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਲਾਹਿਐ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
naanak naam salaahi-ai man tan seetal ho-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, if we keep praising God’s Name, our mind and body remain calm. ||1||
Ee Nanak, iwapo tuendelee kusifu Jina la Mungu, akili na mwili wetu unabaki tulivu.

ਲਾਲਚਿ ਅਟਿਆ ਨਿਤ ਫਿਰੈ ਸੁਆਰਥੁ ਕਰੇ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
laalach ati-aa nit firai su-aarath karay na ko-ay.
Everyday people keep wandering filled with the greed for Maya, and nobody does any righteous deeds.
Kila siku watu wanazurura wakiwa wamejawa na tamaa ya Maya, na hakuna mtu anatenda vitendo vyovyote adilifu.

ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥
jis gur bhaytai naankaa tis man vasi-aa so-ay. ||2||
O Nanak, God dwells within the mind of the one who meets the Guru and follow his teachings.||2||
Ee Nanak, Mungu anaishi ndani mwa akili ya yule anayekutana na Guru na kufuata mafundisho yake.

ਸਭੇ ਵਸਤੂ ਕਉੜੀਆ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਉ ਮਿਠਾ ॥
sabhay vastoo ka-urhee-aa sachay naa-o mithaa.
All material things ultimately become bitter and cause misery, and God’s Name alone remains sweet and brings peace.
Vitu vyote vya kidunia mwishowe vinakuwa chungu na vinaleta taabu, na Jina la Mungu pekee linabaki tamu na linaleta amani.

ਸਾਦੁ ਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਨਾਂ ਚਖਿ ਸਾਧੀ ਡਿਠਾ ॥
saad aa-i-aa tin har janaaN chakh saaDhee dithaa.
But this taste is obtained only by those saints and devotees of God, who have partaken the elixir of God’s Name.
Lakini kionjo hiki kinapatwa tu na wale watakatifu na watawa wa Mungu, ambao wameshiriki dawa ya Jina la Mungu.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਤਿਸੈ ਵੁਠਾ ॥
paarbarahm jis likhi-aa man tisai vuthaa.
This taste of the elixir of Naam comes to dwell within the mind of that person who is so predestinedby the Supreme God.
Kionjo hiki cha dawa ya Naam kinakuja kuishi ndani mwa akili ya mtuhuyo ambaye ameagiziwa mapema hivyo na Mungu Mkuu.

ਇਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਾਉ ਦੁਯਾ ਕੁਠਾ ॥
ik niranjan rav rahi-aa bhaa-o duyaa kuthaa.
That person’s love of duality is destroyed and he beholds the immaculate God pervading everywhere.
Upendo wa uwili wa mtu huyo unaangamizwa na anatazama Mungu safi akienea kote.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਜੋੜਿ ਕਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਤੁਠਾ ॥੧੩॥
har naanak mangai jorh kar parabh dayvai tuthaa. ||13||
With folded hands, Nanak also begs for God’s Name, which is granted by God by His pleasure.||13||
Kwa mikono mikunjufu, Nanak pia anaomba Jina la Mungu, ambalo linatolewa na Mungu kulingana na mapenzi yake.

jaachrhee saa saar jo jaachandee haykrho.
The most excellent begging is the one through which one begs for God’s Name.
Kuomba bora zaidi ni kule ambako mtu anaomba Jina la Mungu.

ਗਾਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਬਿਆ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਧਣੀ ਵਿਹੂਣੀਆ ॥੧॥
gaalHee bi-aa vikaar naanak Dhanee vihoonee-aa. ||1||
O’ Nanak, except the Master-God, all other talks are useless. ||1||
Ee Nanak, isipokuwa Bwana-Mungu, mazungumzo mengine yoyote ni bure.

ਨੀਹਿ ਜਿ ਵਿਧਾ ਮੰਨੁ ਪਛਾਣੂ ਵਿਰਲੋ ਥਿਓ ॥
neehi je viDhaa man pachhaanoo virlo thi-o.
It is only a very rare person whose mind is imbued with God’s love and who has realized God.
Ni mtu nadra sana pekee ambaye akili yake imejawa na upendo wa Mungu na ambaye amegundua Mungu.

ਜੋੜਣਹਾਰਾ ਸੰਤੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਧਰੁ ਪਧਰੋ ॥੨॥
jorhanhaaraa sant naanak paaDhar paDhro. ||2||
O’ Nanak, such a saint (Guru) is capable of uniting others with God by showing them the right way. ||2||
Ee Nanak, mtakatifu (Guru) kama huyo ana uwezo wa kuunganisha wengine na Mungu kwa kuwaonyesha njia sahihi.

ਸੋਈ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਦਾਤਾ ਬਖਸਿੰਦੁ ॥
so-ee sayvihu jee-arhay daataa bakhsind.
O’ my Soul, meditate on that God who is beneficent and forgiving.
Ee Roho yangu, tafakari kuhusu Mungu huyo ambaye ni mwenye manufaa na mwenye msamaha.

ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ ਹੋਨਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ॥
kilvikh sabh binaas hon simrat govind.
All sins are erased, by meditating on God with love and devotion.
Dhambi zote zinafutwa, kwa kutafakari kuhusu Mungu kwa upendo na ujitoaji.

ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਦਸਿਆ ਜਪੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੰਤੁ ॥
har maarag saaDhoo dasi-aa japee-ai gurmant.
The Guru has told that the way to unite with God is to meditate on Naam.
Guru amesema kwamba njia ya kuungana na Mungu ni kutafakari kuhusu Naam.

ਮਾਇਆ ਸੁਆਦ ਸਭਿ ਫਿਕਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੰਦੁ ॥
maa-i-aa su-aad sabh fiki-aa har man bhaavand.
By following the Guru’s teachings, all worldly pleasures become tasteless and God’s Name becomes pleasing to the mind.
Kwa kufuata mafundisho ya Guru, raha zote za kidunia zinakosa ladha na Jina la Mungu linakuwa la kupendeza akilini.

ਧਿਆਇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਦਿਤੀ ਜਿੰਦੁ ॥੧੪॥
Dhi-aa-ay naanak parmaysrai jin ditee jind. ||14||
O Nanak, meditate on the supreme God who has blessed this life. ||14||
Ee Nanak, tafakari kuhusu Mungu mkuu ambaye amebariki maisha haya.

ਵਤ ਲਗੀ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਜੋ ਬੀਜੇ ਸੋ ਖਾਇ ॥
vat lagee sachay naam kee jo beejay so khaa-ay.
Human life is the only opportunity to sow the seed of God’s Name, and the one who sows the seed of Naam enjoys its reward.
Maisha ya binadamu ni fursa ya pekee ya kupanda mbegu ya Jina la Mungu, na yule anayepanda mbegu ya Naam anafurahia thawabu yake.

ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਆਇ ॥੧॥
tiseh paraapat naankaa jis no likhi-aa aa-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, he alone receives it who is predestined. ||1||
Ee Nanak, yeye pekee anaipokea ambaye ameagiziwa mapema.

ਮੰਗਣਾ ਤ ਸਚੁ ਇਕੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਤੁਸਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਆਪਿ ॥
mangnaa ta sach ik jis tus dayvai aap.
If one is going to beg, then ask for the Name of God, which is received only by His Pleasure.
Iwapo mtu anaenda kuomba, basi sihi upewe Jina la Mungu, ambalo linapokelewa tu kwa Mapenzi yake.

ਜਿਤੁ ਖਾਧੈ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੨॥
jit khaaDhai man taripat-ee-ai naanak saahib daat. ||2||
O’ Nanak, this gift of Naam is a blessing from God, after receiving it the mind is satiated from all the worldly desires.||2||
Ee Nanak, tuzo hii ya Naam ni baraka kutoka kwa Mungu, baada ya kuipokea akili inatoshelezwa kutoka hamu zote za kidunia.

ਲਾਹਾ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਸੇ ਖਟਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
laahaa jag meh say khateh jin har Dhan raas.
They alone earn profit of Naam in this world, who have the wealth of God’s Name.
Wao pekee wanachuma faida ya Naam duniani humu, ambao wana utajiri wa Jina la Mungu.

ਦੁਤੀਆ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਸਚੇ ਦੀ ਆਸ ॥
dutee-aa bhaa-o na jaannee sachay dee aas.
They do not know the love of duality, and they place their hopes only in God.
Hawajui upendo wa uwili, na wanaweka matumaini yao kwa Mungu pekee.

ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਏਕੁ ਸਰੇਵਿਆ ਹੋਰੁ ਸਭ ਵਿਣਾਸੁ ॥
nihchal ayk sarayvi-aa hor sabh vinaas.
They have meditated only on the Eternal God because all else is perishable.
Wametafakari tu kwa Mungu wa Milele kwa sababu vyote vingine vinaangamia.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਸਾਸੁ ॥
paarbarahm jis visrai tis birthaa saas.
One who forgets the Supreme God, his every breath is a waste.
Yule anayesahau Mungu Mkuu, kila pumzi anayopumua ni bure.

ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਜਨ ਰਖਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਸੁ ॥੧੫॥
kanth laa-ay jan rakhi-aa naanak bal jaas. ||15||
O’ Nanak, I dedicate myself to God, Who has saved His devotees from duality by blessing them with His love and support. ||15||
Ee Nanak, najiweka wakfu kwa Mungu, Ambaye ameokoa watawa wake kutoka uwili kwa kuwabariki na upendo na tegemezo yake.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ਮੀਹੁ ਵੁਠਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
paarbarahm furmaa-i-aa meehu vuthaa sahj subhaa-ay.
When God so ordered, the rain of Naam started falling imperceptibly,
Wakati mtu aliamuru hivyo, mvua wa Naam ulianza kunyesha bila kuonekana,

ਅੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੀ ਰਜੀ ਤਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਇ ॥
ann Dhan bahut upji-aa parithmee rajee tipat aghaa-ay.
on the land (the heart) which became soaked and fully satiated. As a result, an abundance of grain (of spiritual wealth) was produced.
Kwanye ardhi (moyo) ambayo ikawa imelowa na kutoshelezwa kikamilifu. Kama matokeo yake, nafaka nyingi (ya utajiri wa kiroho) ilizalishwa.

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਰੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਦਾਲਦੁ ਗਇਆ ਬਿਲਾਇ ॥
sadaa sadaa gun uchrai dukh daalad ga-i-aa bilaa-ay.
Forever and ever that person sings the praises of God, because all his sorrow and poverty have gone away.
Daima na milele mtu huyo anaimba sifa za Mungu, kwa sababu huzuni na umaskini wake wote umeondoka.

ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤਿਸੈ ਰਜਾਇ ॥
poorab likhi-aa paa-i-aa mili-aa tisai rajaa-ay.
According to God’s Will, that person has received what was preordained.
Kulingana na Mapenzi ya Mungu, mtu huyo amepokea kile ambacho kimeagiziwa mapema.

ਪਰਮੇਸਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੈ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥
parmaysar jeevaali-aa naanak tisai Dhi-aa-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, meditate on that God who has revived you from the spiritual death due to entanglement in Maya .||1||
Ee Nanak, tafakari kuhusu Mungu huyo ambaye amekufufua kutoka kifo cha kiroho kutokana na kunaswa katika Maya.
