ਤਿਸੁ ਅਗੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਢੋਈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੀ ਮਨਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥
tis agai pichhai dho-ee naahee gursikhee man veechaari-aa.
The Guru’s disciples have realized this in their minds that such a person gets no refuge here and hereafter.
Wafuasi wa Guru wamegundua na kupata ufahamu kwamba mtu kama huyu hapati faraja hapa na hata maisha ya baadaye.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੋ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੇਈ ਜਨ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਰਿਆ ॥
satguroo no milay say-ee jan ubray jin hirdai naam samaari-aa.
Those people who meet the true Guru are saved from the world ocean of vices because they enshirine Naam in their heart.
Na watu wanaoweza kukutana na Guru wa kweli wanapata kuokolewa kutokana na dhambi chungu nzima zilizokolea duniani kwa sababu wanaishi na Naam mioyoni mwao.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪੁਤਹਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਅਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿਆ ॥੨॥
jan naanak kay gursikh puthahu har japi-ahu har nistaari-aa. ||2||
Therefore, O’ the Gursikh sons of devotee Nanak, meditate on God, because only God is the saviour from the worldly bonds. ||2||
Kwa hivyo, enyi Gurshik, wana wa Nanak aliyejitolea kiukamilifu, tafakarini kuhusu huyu Mungu kwa maana yeye tu ndiye aokoaye kutokana na vifungo vya ulimwenguni.

ਹਉਮੈ ਜਗਤੁ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
ha-umai jagat bhulaa-i-aa durmat bikhi-aa bikaar.
Egotism has led the world astray, misguided by evil intellect and Maya (worldly wealth), it commits evil deeds.
Majisifu yamepotosha ulimwengu ambao pia umeongozwa na akili potovu na Maya (mali ya duniani) na hivyo matendo yanayofanywa ni maovu tu.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਨਦਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧ ਅੰਧਿਆਰ ॥
satgur milai ta nadar ho-ay manmukh anDh anDhi-aar.
Without the Guru’s guidance the self-conceited persons remain in the darkness of ignorance, but if one meets the Guru, then he is blessed by God’s grace.
Wasio na mafundisho ya Guru, wenye kiburi na majivuno wanabaki vile vile katika giza la ujinga na kutofahamu. Kinyume na hivi, anayekutana na Guru anakuwa mbarikiwa na neema ya Mungu.

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਾਏ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੩॥
naanak aapay mayl la-ay jis no sabad laa-ay pi-aar. ||3||
O’ Nanak, God unites the one with Himself whom, He imbues with the love of the Guru’s word. ||3||
Eh Nanak, Mungu anajiunganisha na yule anayeimarika katika upendo wa neno na Guru.

ਸਚੁ ਸਚੇ ਕੀ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਲਾਹ ਹੈ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰੁ ਭਿਜੈ ॥
sach sachay kee sifat salaah hai so karay jis andar bhijai.
Everlasting is the praise of true God. But only he utters this praise, whose heart is imbued with the divine love.
Sifa za Mungu wa kweli zinadumu milele. Lakini anayetamka sifa hii ni yule tu ambaye ako dhabiti katika huu upendo mkuu.

ਜਿਨੀ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਇਕੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਕੰਧੁ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਛਿਜੈ ॥
jinee ik man ik araaDhi-aa tin kaa kanDh na kabhoo chhijai.
Those who worship God with single-minded devotion, their body is never weakened by the vices.
Wanaomwabudu Mungu kwa kujitolea kwa moyo mmoja miili yao haidhoofiki kamwe kutokana na maovu ya ulimwenguni.

ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ ਸਚੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਿਜੈ ॥
Dhan Dhan purakh saabaas hai jin sach rasnaa amrit pijai.
Blessed and worthy of praise are those, who partake the Nectar of Naam.
Wamebarikiwa na wenye kusifiwa wale wanaoshiriki nekta yake Naam.

ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਦਾ ਸੇ ਮਨਿ ਸਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਲਿਜੈ ॥
sach sachaa jin man bhaavdaa say man sachee dargeh lijai.
They whose minds are truly pleased with God are honored in His court.
Walio na na mawazo yaliyofurahi kwa kweli katika Mungu wanaheshimika katika makao makuu ya Mungu.

ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਚਿਆਰੀਆ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਿਜੈ ॥੨੦॥
Dhan Dhan janam sachi-aaree-aa mukh ujal sach karijai. ||20||
Blessed and praiseworthy is the human life of those true ones, because they are honored by God in His court.||20||
Maisha yao yamebarikiwa na yenye kusifiwa kwa maana wameheshimika na Mungu katika makao yake.||20||

Salok, Guru wa nne:

ਸਾਕਤ ਜਾਇ ਨਿਵਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਮਨਿ ਖੋਟੇ ਕੂੜਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੇ ॥
saakat jaa-ay niveh gur aagai man khotay koorh koorhi-aaray.
Even if the faithless cynics go and bow before the Guru, still their minds remain corrupt and filled with utter falsehood.
Hata iwapo wabeuzi wasio na imani wataenda na kumwinamia Guru, mawazo yao bado wameuawa na ufisadi na udanganyifu.

ਜਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਹੈ ਉਠਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਘੁਸਰਿ ਬਗੁਲਾਰੇ ॥
jaa gur kahai uthahu mayray bhaa-ee bahi jaahi ghusar bagulaaray.
When the Guru asks his disciples to rise up, then these faithless cynics mingle with the disciples like cranes in the crowd.
Guru anapowauliza hawa wafuasi wake wainuke, hawa watovu wa imani wanajichanganya na wale wafuasi halisimithili ya korongo kati ya umati wa watu.

ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਚੁਣਿ ਕਢੇ ਲਧੋਵਾਰੇ ॥
gursikhaa andar satgur vartai chun kadhay laDhovaaray.
The True Guru dwells within his disciples, therefore the Guru’s disciples easily pick out and expel these faithless cynics
Guru wa kweli anaishi ndani ya wafuasi wake, kwa hivyo hawa wafuasi wanawatambua na kuwachuja hawa wasio na imani kwa urahisi sana

ਓਇ ਅਗੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਬਹਿ ਮੁਹੁ ਛਪਾਇਨਿ ਨ ਰਲਨੀ ਖੋਟੇਆਰੇ ॥
o-ay agai pichhai bahi muhu chhapaa-in na ralnee khotay-aaray.
These faithless cynics hide themselves by sitting here and there, but still they are not able to blend in with the true disciple.
Hawa wasio na imani aidha, wakajificha hapa na pale lakini ni vigumu kuchanganyika na wafuasi halisi.

ਓਨਾ ਦਾ ਭਖੁ ਸੁ ਓਥੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ਕੂੜੁ ਲਹਨਿ ਭੇਡਾਰੇ ॥
onaa daa bhakh so othai naahee jaa-ay koorh lahan bhaydaaray.
The food (worldly wealth and power) for the faithless cynics is not there; therefore, like sheep they go elsewhere to look for their kind of (false) food.
Chakula cha hawa wasio na imani, ambacho ni mamlaka na mali ya duniani, hakipo kamwe. Kwa sababu hii,wanarandaranda kutafuta kwingine watakapopata chakula chao cha uongo.

ਜੇ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਨਰੁ ਖਾਵਾਈਐ ਲੋਚੀਐ ਬਿਖੁ ਕਢੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਉਗਲਾਰੇ ॥
jay saakat nar khaavaa-ee-ai lochee-ai bikh kadhai mukh uglaaray.
Even if we wish and try to feed them real food (engage them in chanting Naam), they still spit out poison like ill words.
Hata kwa matamanio yetu ya kuwapa chakula cha kweli ambacho ni kuwahusisha kumuumba Naam, bado wanasema sumu kama cheche.

ਹਰਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਸੇਤੀ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਕਰੀਅਹੁ ਓਇ ਮਾਰੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੇ ॥
har saakat saytee sang na karee-ahu o-ay maaray sirjanhaaray.
O’ dear saints, do not keep company with faithless cynics, because the Creator Himself has cursed them.
Enyi watakatifu, jitengeni na hawa wasio na imani kwani Muumba mwenyewe amewalaani tayari.

ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਇਹੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
jis kaa ih khayl so-ee kar vaykhai jan naanak naam samaaray. ||1||
O’ Nanak, meditate on the Name of God, this world is His play. He creates it and watches over it. ||1||
Ewe Nanak, wasia jina lake Mungu, ulimwengu huu ni tamthilia yake.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਗੰਮੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥
satgur purakh agamm hai jis andar har ur Dhaari-aa.
The True Guru, the Primal Being, is unfathomable; who has enshrined God’sName within His heart.
Guru wa kweli, kiumbe halisi na wa kwanza, haeleweki; yeye aliyeliweka jina la Mungu moyoni mwake.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੋ ਅਪੜਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਕਈ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਲਿ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਿਆ ॥
satguroo no aparh ko-ay na sak-ee jis val sirjanhaari-aa.
No one can equal the True Guru; the Creator Himself is on His side.
Hakuna yule wakulimganishwa na huyu Guru wa kweli; Hata muumba mwenyewe ako upande wake.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਖੜਗੁ ਸੰਜੋਉ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਕੰਟਕੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਵਿਡਾਰਿਆ ॥
satguroo kaa kharhag sanjo-o har bhagat hai jit kaal kantak maar vidaari-aa.
Devotional worship of God is the sword and armor of the True Guru; with which He has overcome even the dread of death.
KuabuduMungukwa kujitolea kikamilifu ndio upanga na ala mahsusi ya Guru wa kweli ambayo ametumia kushinda woga wa kifo.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਰਖਣਹਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਭਿ ਉਬਾਰਿਆ ॥
satguroo kaa rakhanhaaraa har aap hai satguroo kai pichhai har sabh ubaari-aa.
God Himself is the Protector of the True Guru, and God saves all those who follow in the footsteps of the True Guru.
Mungu mwenyewe ndiye mlinzi wa Guru wa kweli na mwenye kuwaokoa wote wanaofuata nyayo za huyu Guru wa kweli.

ਜੋ ਮੰਦਾ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਸੋ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਵਣਹਾਰੈ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥
jo mandaa chitvai pooray satguroo kaa so aap upaavanhaarai maari-aa.
The Creator Himself destroys the one who wishes ill of the perfect true Guru.
Na wale wote wanaomtakia Guru wa kweli mabaya, muumba mwenyewe anawaangamiza.

ਏਹ ਗਲ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਸਚੇ ਕੀ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਗਮੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥੨॥
ayh gal hovai har dargeh sachay kee jan naanak agam veechaari-aa. ||2||
Nanak has reflected on this mystery and concluded that this is what happens in the court of the true God. ||2||
Nanak amewazia hii siri kali na kisha kukubali kuwa haya ndio yanayofanyika katika nyumba ya Mungu wa kweli.

ਸਚੁ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਜਿਨੀ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਜਾ ਉਠੇ ਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਚਵੇ ॥
sach suti-aa jinee araaDhi-aa jaa uthay taa sach chavay.
Those who remember the eternal God even when they are asleep, and utter His Name when they are awake.
Wanaomkumbuka Mungu wa milele hata japo wanalala na kutamka jina lake wakiwa wameamua.

ਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਰਵੇ ॥
say virlay jug meh jaanee-ahi jo gurmukh sach ravay.
Rare are such persons in this world, who lovingly meditate on the eternal God by following the Guru’s teachings.
Hawa wanaotafakari kuhusu Munguwa milele kwa kufuata mafundisho ya Guru, kwa mapenzi yao, ni wachache mno.

ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਜਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਚੁ ਲਵੇ ॥
ha-o balihaaree tin ka-o je an-din sach lavay.
I dedicate myself to those who always chant God’s Name.
Nami najitoa kwa wanaoimba na kutamka kuhusu jina la Mungu daima.

ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਸਚਾ ਭਾਵਦਾ ਸੇ ਸਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਗਵੇ ॥
jin man tan sachaa bhaavdaa say sachee dargeh gavay.
They, in whose mind and body God is pleasing, arrive at the God’s court.
Wale wenye kupendezwa na Mungu kwa mawazo yao hufika katika makao ya

ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਵੇ ॥੨੧॥
jan naanak bolai sach naam sach sachaa sadaa navay. ||21||
Nanak utters the Name of God, who is eternal and is always seen in new form. ll21ll
Nanak analitamka jina la Mungu wa milele na anayeonekana daima katika umbo mpya.||21||

ਕਿਆ ਸਵਣਾ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਗਣਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
ki-aa savnaa ki-aa jaagnaa gurmukh tay parvaan.
Whether asleep or awake, the Guru’s followers are approved in both states.
Wafuasi wake Guru wamekubalika, wawe usingizini ama wawe wameamka, wamekubalika.
