ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
har kaa naam sat kar jaanai gur kai bhaa-ay pi-aaray.
One who loves the beloved Guru, understands that God’s Name is eternal.
Yule anayependa Guru mpendwa, anaelewa kwamba Jina la Mungu ni la milele.

ਸਚੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
sachee vadi-aa-ee gur tay paa-ee sachai naa-ay pi-aaray.
He learns about singing the eternal God’s praises and develops love for Him.
Yeye anajifunza kuhusu kuimba sifa za Mungu wa milele na kusitawisha upendo kwa Mungu.

ਏਕੋ ਸਚਾ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
ayko sachaa sabh meh vartai virlaa ko veechaaray.
However, only a rare person realizes the fact that one and only one God pervades all,
Hata hivyo, ni mtu nadra peke yake anayegundua ukweli kwamba ni Mungu Mmoja peke yake anayeenea kote.

ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਤਾ ਬਖਸੇ ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੭॥
aapay mayl la-ay taa bakhsay sachee bhagat savaaray. ||7||
and only when God Himself unites a person with Himself, He forgives and embellishes that person with His true devotion. ||7||
na ni wakati tu ambapo Mungu Mwenyewe anaunganisha mtu naye Mwenyewe, Yeye anasamehe na kupamba mtu huyo kwa ujitoaji wake wa kweli.

ਸਭੋ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
sabho sach sach sach vartai gurmukh ko-ee jaanai.
O’ my friends, only a rare Guru’s follower understands that it is the eternal God Himself who is pervading everywhere and doing everything.
Ee marafiki wangu, ni mfuasi nadra pekee wa Guru anayeelewa kwamba ni Mungu wa milele Mwenyewe ambaye anaenea kote na kufanya kila kitu.

ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੁਕਮੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
jaman marnaa hukmo vartai gurmukh aap pachhaanai.
The Guru’s follower keeps reflecting on his own self and understands that birth and death happen as per His command only.
Mfuasi wa Guru anaendelea kutafakari kuhusu nafsi yake mwenyewe na anaelewa kwamba kuzaliwa na kufa kunatendeka kulingana na amri yake tu.

ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭਾਏ ਜੋ ਇਛੈ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
naam Dhi-aa-ay taa satgur bhaa-ay jo ichhai so fal paa-ay.
When he lovingly remembers God, he becomes pleasing to the true Guru and receives whatever reward he desires.
Wakati yeye anakumbuka Mungu kwa upendo, anakuwa wa kupendeza kwa Guru wa kweli na anapokea tuzo yoyote anayotaka.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥੮॥੧॥
naanak tis daa sabh kichh hovai je vichahu aap gavaa-ay. ||8||1||
O’ Nanak, one who eradicates his ego from within, all his spiritual and worldly tasks are accomplished. ||8||1||
Ee Nanak, yule anayetokomeza ubinafsi wake kutoka ndani mwake, kazi zake zote za kiroho na za kidunia zinatimizwa.

ਕਾਇਆ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਅਤਿ ਸੁਆਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਿਉ ਪਿਰੁ ਵਸੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
kaa-i-aa kaaman at su-aaliha-o pir vasai jis naalay.
O’ my friends, the soul-bride, in whose mind is enshrined the Husband-God, becomes extremely beautiful.
Ee marafiki wangu, roho-bi harusi, ambaye akilini mwake amethaminiwa Mume-Mungu, anakuwa na urembo uliokithiri.

ਪਿਰ ਸਚੇ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੇ ॥
pir sachay tay sadaa suhaagan gur kaa sabad samHaalay.
The soul-bride who always cherishes the Guru’s word, unites with Husband-God and becomes very fortunate forever.
Roho-bi harusi ambaye daima anathamini neno la Guru, anaungana na Mume-Mungu na anakuwa mwenye bahati mno milele.

ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਜਾਲੇ ॥੧॥
har kee bhagat sadaa rang raataa ha-umai vichahu jaalay. ||1||
One who burns his ego from within, becomes imbued with the love for devotional worship of God. ||1||
Yule anayeteketeza ubinafsi wake kutoka ndani mwake, anapenyezwa na upendo wa ibada ya ujitoaji wa Mungu.

ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
vaahu vaahu pooray gur kee banee.
O’ my friends, perfect Guru’s divine words of God’s praises are wonderful.
Ee marafiki wangu, maneno takatifu ya Guru kamili ya sifa za Mungu ni ya ajabu.

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਉਪਜੀ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pooray gur tay upjee saach samaanee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
This emanate from the heart of the true Guru and help the Guru’s follower to merge in God. ||1||Pause||
Haya yanatokea moyoni mwa Guru wa kweli na yanasaidia mfuasi wa Guru kuungana na Mungu. ||1||Sitisha||

ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਵਸੈ ਖੰਡ ਮੰਡਲ ਪਾਤਾਲਾ ॥
kaa-i-aa andar sabh kichh vasai khand mandal paataalaa.
All the peace and pleasure of all the continents, galaxies, and the nether regions abides in that body,
Amani na raha yote ya mabara yote, galaksi, na maeneo ya chini ya dunia ipo katika mwili huo,

ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਦਾਤਾ ਵਸੈ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥
kaa-i-aa andar jagjeevan daataa vasai sabhnaa karay partipaalaa.
in which resides God, the bestower of life to the world and sustainer all.
Ambamo mnaishi Mungu, mtawaza wa uhai kwa dunia na mtunzaji wa vyote.

ਕਾਇਆ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲਾ ॥੨॥
kaa-i-aa kaaman sadaa suhaylee gurmukh naam samHaalaa. ||2||
The soul of that person, who follows the Guru’s teachings and enshrines Naam in his heart, always dwells in peace. ||2||
Roho ya mtu huyo, anayefuata mafundisho ya Guru na kuthamini Naam moyoni mwake, daima inaishi kwa amani.

ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਵਸੈ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖਿਆ ਜਾਈ ॥
kaa-i-aa andar aapay vasai alakh na lakhi-aa jaa-ee.
God Himself dwells in the body, but being incomprehensible, He cannot be comprehended.
Mungu Mwenyewe anaishi katika mwili, lakini hawezi kueleweka, Yeye hawezi kufahamika.

ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭਾਲਣਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
manmukh mugaDh boojhai naahee baahar bhaalan jaa-ee.
The foolish self-willed person does not understand this fact and wanders outside to search for God.
Mtu mpumbavu mwenye hiari binafsi haelewi ukweli huu na anazurura nje ili kumtafuta Mungu.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਦਿਤਾ ਲਖਾਈ ॥੩॥
satgur sayvay sadaa sukh paa-ay satgur alakh ditaa lakhaa-ee. ||3||
One who follows the Guru’s teachings, always enjoys peace because the true Guru has revealed to him the incomprehensible God. ||3||
Yule anayefuata mafundisho ya Guru, daima anafurahia amani kwa sababu Guru wa kweli amedhihirisha kwake Mungu asiyeweza kueleweka.

ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਰਤਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
kaa-i-aa andar ratan padaarath bhagat bharay bhandaaraa.
The devotional worship of God is like the precious gems and the human body is overflowing with the treasure of these gems.
Ibada ya ujitoaji ya Mungu ni kama johari zenye thamani na mwili wa kibinadamu unafurika na hazina ya johari hizi.

ਇਸੁ ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਨਉ ਖੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੀ ਹਾਟ ਪਟਣ ਬਾਜਾਰਾ ॥
is kaa-i-aa andar na-u khand parithmee haat patan baajaaraa.
This body has within it all the provisions to earn the wealth of Naam, as if it has all the nine regions of the world with its shops, markets and towns.
Mwili una maandalizi yote ya kuchuma utajiri wa Naam ndani mwake, kana kwamba una maeneo yote tisa ya dunia pamoja na maduka, masoko na miji yake.

ਇਸੁ ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
is kaa-i-aa andar naam na-o niDh paa-ee-ai gur kai sabad veechaaraa. ||4||
By reflecting on the Guru’s word, one can realize Naam within this body, which is like all the nine treasures of the world. ||4||
Kwa kutafakari kuhusu neno la Guru, mtu anaweza kugundua Naam ndani mwa mwili wake, ambayo ni kama hazina zote tisa za dunia.

ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਤੋਲਿ ਤੁਲਾਵੈ ਆਪੇ ਤੋਲਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
kaa-i-aa andar tol tulaavai aapay tolanhaaraa.
In the human body also dwells God who evaluates people’s spiritual worth.
Katika mwili wa binadamu anaishi Mungu anayechunguza thamani ya kitoho ya watu.

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਜਵਾਹਰ ਮਾਣਕੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਮੋਲੁ ਅਫਾਰਾ ॥
ih man ratan javaahar maanak tis kaa mol afaaraa.
The mind which has the wealth of jewel-like Naam is extremely valuable.
Akili ambayo ina utajiri wa Naam kama kito ni yenye thamani mno.

ਮੋਲਿ ਕਿਤ ਹੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੫॥
mol kit hee naam paa-ee-ai naahee naam paa-ee-ai gur beechaaraa. ||5||
Naam cannot be purchased at any price, it is attained only by reflecting on the Guru’s teachings. ||5||
Naam haiwezi kununuliwa kwa bei yoyote, inapatwa tu kwa kutafakari kuhusu mafundisho ya Guru.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਕਾਇਆ ਖੋਜੈ ਹੋਰ ਸਭ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਈ ॥
gurmukh hovai so kaa-i-aa khojai hor sabh bharam bhulaa-ee.
O’ my friends, the one who is a Guru’s follower, looks for Naam in his own body; the rest of the world is lost in doubt.
Ee marafiki wangu, yule ambaye ni mfuasi wa Guru, anatafuta Naam katika mwili wake mwenyewe; dunia yote iliyosalia imepotea katika shaka.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਦੇਇ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਕਰੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥
jis no day-ay so-ee jan paavai hor ki-aa ko karay chaturaa-ee.
Only that person realizes Naam, unto whom God bestows it; any other clever tricks can be of no use.
Mtu huyo peke yake anagundua Naam, ambaye Mungu anaitawaza kwake; hila zote zingine za ujanja haziwezi kuwa na manufaa yoyote.

ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਭਉ ਭਾਉ ਵਸੈ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੬॥
kaa-i-aa andar bha-o bhaa-o vasai gur parsaadee paa-ee. ||6||
Within the body also reside the respectful fear and love of God, but they too are realized by Guru’s grace. ||6||
Ndani mwa mwili pia mnaishi uoga kwa heshima na upendo wa Mungu, lakini pia huo unagunduliwa kwa neema ya Guru.

ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹੇਸਾ ਸਭ ਓਪਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
kaa-i-aa andar barahmaa bisan mahaysaa sabh opat jit sansaaraa.
O’ my friends, within the body resides that Creator from whom gods like Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh and the rest of the world came into existence.
Ee marafiki wangu, ndani mwa mwili mnaishi Muumba huyo ambaye kutoka kwake miungu kama Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh na dunia nzima ilikuja kuwepo.

ਸਚੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਖੇਲੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ਆਵਾ ਗਉਣੁ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥
sachai aapnaa khayl rachaa-i-aa aavaa ga-on paasaaraa.
The eternal has set up His play and the cycle of birth and death is its expanse.
Yule wa Milele ameandaa mchezo wake na mzunguko wa kuzaliwa na kufa ni upanuzi wake.

ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੭॥
poorai satgur aap dikhaa-i-aa sach naam nistaaraa. ||7||
The person whom the perfect Guru has himself shown this truth, is emancipated by getting attuned to the Name of God. ||7||
Mtu ambaye Guru wa kweli mwenyewe ameonyesha ukweli huu, anakombolewa kwa kumakinikia Jina la Mungu.

ਸਾ ਕਾਇਆ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੈ ਸਚੈ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥
saa kaa-i-aa jo satgur sayvai sachai aap savaaree.
O’ my friends, that person alone is accomplished which follows the teachings of the true Guru; God Himself has embellished that person.
Ee marafiki wangu, mtu huyo peke yake amefanikiwa anayefuata mafundisho ya Guru wa kweli; Mungu Mwenyewe amepamba mtu huyo.

ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦਰਿ ਢੋਈ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਾ ਜਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਖੁਆਰੀ ॥
vin naavai dar dho-ee naahee taa jam karay khu-aaree.
Without meditating on Naam, one finds no refuge in God’s presence and the demon of death punishes him.
Bila kutafakari kuhusu Naam, mtu hapati kimbilio chochote mbele ya Mungu na pepo wa kifo anamuadhibu.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਾਏ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੮॥੨॥
naanak sach vadi-aa-ee paa-ay jis no har kirpaa Dhaaree. ||8||2||
O’ Nanak, only that person attains true glory on whom God bestows His mercy. ||8||2||
Ee Nanak, mtu huyo peke yake anapata utukufu wa kweli ambaye Mungu anatawazia huruma yake.
