ਸਹਜੇ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਤਨ ਕੀ ਨਾਸੀ ॥
sehjay dubiDhaa tan kee naasee.
The duality of his mind has intuitively been eliminated
Uwili wa akili yake imeondolewa kisilika.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਇਆ ਅਨੰਦੁ ॥
jaa kai sahj man bha-i-aa anand.
The one in whose mind a state of bliss arises intuitively.
Yule ambaye akilini mwake hali ya raha tele inatokea kisilika.

ਤਾ ਕਉ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦੁ ॥੫॥
taa ka-o bhayti-aa parmaanand. ||5||
He meets God, the source of supreme bliss.
Yeye anakutana na Mungu, chanzo cha raha tele kuu.

ਸਹਜੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਓ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
sehjay amrit pee-o naam.
Intuitively, he relishes the Ambrosial Nectar of God’s Name.
Kisilika, anafurahia Nekta ya Ambrosia ya Jina la Mungu.

ਸਹਜੇ ਕੀਨੋ ਜੀਅ ਕੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
sehjay keeno jee-a ko daan.
Intuitively, he gives the gift of Naam to others as well.
Kisilika, anatoa tuzo ya Naam kwa wengine pia.

ਸਹਜ ਕਥਾ ਮਹਿ ਆਤਮੁ ਰਸਿਆ ॥
sahj kathaa meh aatam rasi-aa.
His soul remains immersed in the poise-giving God’s praises.
Roho yake inabaki imevama katika sifa za Mungu zinazotawaza utulivu.

ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਵਸਿਆ ॥੬॥
taa kai sang abhinaasee vasi-aa. ||6||
The eternal God dwells with him.
Mungu wa milele anaishi ndani mwake.

ਸਹਜੇ ਆਸਣੁ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
sehjay aasan asthir bhaa-i-aa.
Intuitively his mind becomes stable and he likes this stability.
Kisilika akili yake inakuwa thabiti na anapenda huo uthabiti.

ਸਹਜੇ ਅਨਹਤ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਜਾਇਆ ॥
sehjay anhat sabad vajaa-i-aa.
In peace and poise, continuous melody of Guru’s word vibrates within him.
Katika amani na utulivu, melodia isiyo na mwisho ya neno la Guru inatetema ndani mwake.

ਸਹਜੇ ਰੁਣ ਝੁਣਕਾਰੁ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ॥
sehjay run jhunkaar suhaa-i-aa.
Within him imperceptibly rings the non-stop melody of the divine word.
Ndani mwake na kwa njia isiyofahamika mnatetema melodia isiyo na mwisho ya neno takatifu.

ਤਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੭॥
taa kai ghar paarbarahm samaa-i-aa. ||7||
God always remains pervading in his mind.
Mungu daima anaenea katika akili yake.

ਸਹਜੇ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਪਰਿਓ ਕਰਮਾ ॥
sehjay jaa ka-o pari-o karmaa.
The person on whom God is merciful, he attains the state of spiritual stability.
Mtu ambaye Mungu ana huruma kwake, anapata hali ya uthabiti wa kiroho.

ਸਹਜੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸਚੁ ਧਰਮਾ ॥
sehjay gur bhayti-o sach Dharmaa.
Intuitively he meets with the Guru and makes meditation on Naam as his faith.
Kisilika yeye anakutana na Guru na kufanya kutafakari kwa Naam kuwe imani yake.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਹਜੁ ਭਇਆ ਸੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
jaa kai sahj bha-i-aa so jaanai.
Only he knows the bliss of equipoise who has been blessed with it.
Yeye pekee anajua raha tele ya usawa ambaye amebarikiwa nayo.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੈ ॥੮॥੩॥
naanak daas taa kai kurbaanai. ||8||3||
Nanak dedicates his life to him.
Nanak anaweka wakfu maisha yake kwake.

ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਗਰਭ ਵਾਸ ਤੇ ਟਰਿਆ ॥
parathmay garabh vaas tay tari-aa.
Firstly by God’s grace you were saved from (being destroyed in) the womb of your mother,
Kwanza kwa neema ya Mungu uliokolewa kutoka (kuangamizwa ndani ya) tumbo ya mama yako,

ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸੰਗਿ ਜੁਰਿਆ ॥
putar kaltar kutamb sang juri-aa.
Becoming an adult you got attached with the wife, sons and family.
Ulipokuwa mtu mzima ulijiambatisha kwa mke, watoto na familia.

ਭੋਜਨੁ ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਬਹੁ ਕਪਰੇ ॥ ਸਰਪਰ ਗਵਨੁ ਕਰਹਿਗੇ ਬਪੁਰੇ ॥੧॥
bhojan anik parkaar baho kapray. sarpar gavan karhigay bapuray. ||1||
There are some who remain indulging in enjoying many kinds of foods and dresses. But they too would surely depart from here like orphans.
Kuna wengine wanaobaki wakijishughulisha katika kufurahia aina nyingi ya vyakula na mavazi. Lakini kwa kweli wao pia wataondoka kutoka huku kama yatima.

ਕਵਨੁ ਅਸਥਾਨੁ ਜੋ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਟਰੈ ॥
kavan asthaan jo kabahu na tarai.
What is that place which never perishes?
Ni wapi pahali hapo ambapo kamwe hapaharibiki?

ਕਵਨੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kavan sabad jit durmat harai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
What is that Word which dispels one’s evil intellect.?
Ni lipi Neno linaloondoa akili muovu ya mtu?

ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਪੁਰੀ ਮਹਿ ਸਰਪਰ ਮਰਣਾ ॥
indar puree meh sarpar marnaa.
In the Realm of God, death is sure and certain.
Katika Eneo la Mungu, kifo ni hakika na dhahiri.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੁਰੀ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਰਹਣਾ ॥
barahm puree nihchal nahee rahnaa.
The Realm of God shall not remain permanent.
Eneo la Mungu halitabaki la kudumu.

ਸਿਵ ਪੁਰੀ ਕਾ ਹੋਇਗਾ ਕਾਲਾ ॥
siv puree kaa ho-igaa kaalaa.
The Realm of God shall also perish.
Eneo la Mungu pia litaharibika.

ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਮਾਇਆ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਬਿਤਾਲਾ ॥੨॥
tarai gun maa-i-aa binas bitaalaa. ||2||
In short the entire humanity, which is influenced by the three modes of Maya (vice, virtue and power) shall perish one day.
Kwa ufupi ubinadamu mzima, ambao unashawishiwa na mbinu tatu za Maya (dhambi, fadhila na nguvu) utaangamia siku moja.

ਗਿਰਿ ਤਰ ਧਰਣਿ ਗਗਨ ਅਰੁ ਤਾਰੇ ॥
gir tar Dharan gagan ar taaray.
The mountains, the trees, the earth, the sky and the stars;
Milima, miti, dunia, anga na nyota;

ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਪਵਣੁ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਨੀਰਾਰੇ ॥
rav sas pavan paavak neeraaray.
the sun, the moon, the wind, water and fire;
jua, mwezi, upepo, maji na moto;

ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਬਰਤ ਅਰੁ ਭੇਦਾ ॥
dinas rain barat ar bhaydaa.
day and night, fasting and different kind of rituals.
Mchana na usiku, kufunga na aina tofauti za mila.

ਸਾਸਤ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬਿਨਸਹਿਗੇ ਬੇਦਾ ॥੩॥
saasat simrit binashigay baydaa. ||3||
the Shastras, the Smritis and the Vedas shall vanish.
Shastras, Smritis na Vedas zitapotea.

ਤੀਰਥ ਦੇਵ ਦੇਹੁਰਾ ਪੋਥੀ ॥
tirath dayv dayhuraa pothee.
The sacred shrines of pilgrimage, gods, temples and holy books;
Ziara takatifu za hija, miungu, mahekalu na vitabu takatifu;

ਮਾਲਾ ਤਿਲਕੁ ਸੋਚ ਪਾਕ ਹੋਤੀ ॥
maalaa tilak soch paak hotee.
rosaries, ceremonial tilak marks on the forehead, meditative people, the pure, and the performers of acts of ablution;
rosari, ishara za kisherehe za tilak kwenye paji, watu wanaotafakari, watu safi, na wanaofanya vitendo vya kutawadha;

ਧੋਤੀ ਡੰਡਉਤਿ ਪਰਸਾਦਨ ਭੋਗਾ ॥
Dhotee dand-ut parsaadan bhogaa.
the loin cloths, the prostration before gods with all the offerings.
Shuka za kiunoni, kusujudu mbele ya miungu na matoleo yote.

ਗਵਨੁ ਕਰੈਗੋ ਸਗਲੋ ਲੋਗਾ ॥੪॥
gavan karaigo saglo logaa. ||4||
and all the people involved in such rituals shall depart from here.
Na watu wote wanaohusishwa katika mila kama hizo wataondoka kutoka humu.

ਜਾਤਿ ਵਰਨ ਤੁਰਕ ਅਰੁ ਹਿੰਦੂ ॥
jaat varan turak ar hindoo.
Social classes, races, Muslims and Hindus;
Tabaka, utofauti wa rangi ya ngozi, Waislamu na Wahindu;

ਪਸੁ ਪੰਖੀ ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਜਿੰਦੂ ॥
pas pankhee anik jon jindoo.
beasts, birds and the many varieties of beings and creatures;
hayawani, ndege na aina mbalimbali ya viumbe na wanyama;

ਸਗਲ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ਦੀਸੈ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥
sagal paasaar deesai paasaaraa.
the entire world and the visible universe,
dunia nzima na ulimwengu unaoonekana,

ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇਗੋ ਸਗਲ ਆਕਾਰਾ ॥੫॥
binas jaa-igo sagal aakaaraa. ||5||
all forms of existence shall pass away.
Aina yote ya kuwepo itapita.

ਸਹਜ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨਾ ॥ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਥਾਨਾ ॥
sahj sifat bhagat tat gi-aanaa. sadaa anand nihchal sach thaanaa.
Only that place is everlasting and in eternal bliss, where there is praise of God, and His devotional worship is the essence of divine knowledge.
Mahali hapo tu panadumu milele na pana raha tele ya milele, ambapo kuna sifa kwa Mungu na ibada ya kujitolea kwake ni kiini cha maarifa takatifu.

ਤਹਾ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਗੁਣ ਰਸੈ ॥
tahaa sangat saaDh gun rasai.
In such a place, the congregation of saintly persons always sings the praises ofGod with love and devotion.
Katika mahali kama hapo, ushirika wa watu watakatifu daima unaimba sifa za Mungu kwa upendo na kujitolea.

ਅਨਭਉ ਨਗਰੁ ਤਹਾ ਸਦ ਵਸੈ ॥੬॥
anbha-o nagar tahaa sad vasai. ||6||
In that place (state of mind) people live without any kind of fear
Katika mahali hapo (hali ya kiakili) watu wanaishi bila aina yoyote ya hofu

ਤਹ ਭਉ ਭਰਮਾ ਸੋਗੁ ਨ ਚਿੰਤਾ ॥
tah bha-o bharmaa sog na chintaa.
There is no fear, doubt, suffering or anxiety there;
Hakuna uoga, shaka, mateso au wasiwasi hapo;

ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਵਣੁ ਮਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਹੋਤਾ ॥
aavan jaavan mirat na hotaa.
there is no cycle of birth and death, and there is no spiritual death.
Hakuna mzunguko wa kuzaliwa na kufa, na hakuna kifo cha kiroho.

ਤਹ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਅਨਹਤ ਆਖਾਰੇ ॥
tah sadaa anand anhat aakhaaray.
There is eternal bliss, and the unstruck divine music plays continuously.
Kuna raha tele na milele, na muziki takatifu isiyo na mfano yake inacheza bila mwisho.

ਭਗਤ ਵਸਹਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਆਧਾਰੇ ॥੭॥
bhagat vaseh keertan aaDhaaray. ||7||
The devotees dwell there, with praises of God as their support.
Watawa wanaishi hapo, wakiwa na sifa za Mungu kama tegemezo yao.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰੁ ॥
paarbarahm kaa ant na paar.
There is no end or limitation to the virtues of the Supreme God.
Hakuna mwisho wala kikomo cha fadhila za Mungu Mkuu.

ਕਉਣੁ ਕਰੈ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
ka-un karai taa kaa beechaar.
Who canreflect upon His endless virtues.
Nani amaweza kutafakari kuhusu fadhila zake zisizo na mwisho.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
kaho naanak jis kirpaa karai.
Says Nanak, the one on whom God bestows his mercy,
Nanak anasema, yule ambaye Mungu anatawaza huruma Yake kwake,

ਨਿਹਚਲ ਥਾਨੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੈ ॥੮॥੪॥
nihchal thaan saaDhsang tarai. ||8||4||
through the holy congregation, he swims across the world ocean of vices and gets to the eternal place (God’s court).
Kupitia ushirika takatifu, anaogelea akivuka bahari dunia ya dhambi na anafikia pahali pa milele (mahakama ya Mungu).

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
ga-orhee mehlaa 5.
Raag Gauree, by the Fifth Guru:
Raag Gauree, na Guru wa Tano:

ਜੋ ਇਸੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਸੂਰਾ ॥
jo is maaray so-ee sooraa.
That one alone is a brave person who controls the duality in the mind.
Huyo pekee ni mtu jasiri anayedhibiti uwili akilini.

ਜੋ ਇਸੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
jo is maaray so-ee pooraa.
One who kills this duality, is full of virtues.
Yule anayeangamiza uwili huu, amejawa na fadhila.

ਜੋ ਇਸੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
jo is maaray tiseh vadi-aa-ee.
One who kills this duality, obtains glory.
Yule anayeangamiza uwili huu, anapata utukufu.

ਜੋ ਇਸੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
jo is maaray tis kaa dukh jaa-ee. ||1||
One who kills this is freed of suffering.
Yule anayeangamiza huu anafanywa huru kutoka mateso.

ਐਸਾ ਕੋਇ ਜਿ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਗਵਾਵੈ ॥
aisaa ko-ay je dubiDhaa maar gavaavai.
How rare is such a person, who kills and casts off duality.
Mtu huyo ni dara sana, anayeangamiza na kutupa uwili.

ਇਸਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਰਾਜ ਜੋਗੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
iseh maar raaj jog kamaavai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The one whokills this duality earns Raj Yoga (union with God while still living in comforts).
Yule anayeangamiza uwili huu, anapata Raj Yoga (muungano na Mungu wakati bado anaishi katika starehe).
