ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
aavan jaanaa bharam bha-o bhaagaa har har har gun gaa-i-aa.
Yes, they who sang the praises of God, their cycles of birth and death ended and their dread and doubt went away.
Ndio, wale walioimba sifa za Mungu, mizunguko yao ya kuzaliwa na kufa ilitamatika na hofu na shaka yao iliondoka.

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਦੁਖ ਉਤਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
janam janam kay kilvikh dukh utray har har naam samaa-i-aa.
Sins and sorrows accumulated from births after births are removed, and they merge in God’s Name.
Dhambi na huzuni zilizokusanywa kutoka kuzaliwa na kufa kwingi zinaondolewa, na wanaunganishwa katika Jina la Mungu.

ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਸਫਲੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
jin har Dhi-aa-i-aa Dhur bhaag likh paa-i-aa tin safal janam parvaan jee-o.
Those who attained Naam as per their preordained destiny, meditated on God’s Name, their life became fruitful and approved in God’s presence.
Wale waliopata Naam kulingana na hatima yao iliyoagiziwa mapema, walitafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu, maisha yao yalikuwa yenye mafanikio na yaliyoidhinishwa katika uwepo wa Mungu.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
har har man bhaa-i-aa param sukh paa-i-aa har laahaa pad nirbaan jee-o. ||3||
People, whom God’s Name seemed pleasing, attained the sublime state of bliss; they earned the profit of God’s Name and the supreme spiritual status. ||3||
Watu, ambao Jina la Mungu linaonekana kuwa tamu kwao, walifikia hali tukufu ya raha tele; walichuma faida ya Jina la Mungu na hadhi kuu ya kiroho.

ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਨਾ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ ਤੇ ਊਤਮ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲੋਗ ਜੀਉ ॥
jinH har meeth lagaanaa tay jan parDhaanaa tay ootam har har log jee-o.
Those people, whom God’s Name seems dear, become honorable and most exalted persons of God.
Watu hao, ambao Jina la Mungu linaonekana kuwa la dhati kwao, wanakuwa wa kuheshimika na watu tukufu zaidi wa Mungu.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ਜੀਉ ॥
har naam vadaa-ee har naam sakhaa-ee gur sabdee har ras bhog jee-o.
God’s Name is their glory, God’s Name is their companion and through the Guru’s word they enjoy the elixir of God’s Name.
Jina la Mungu ni utukufu wao, Jina la Mungu ni mwendani wao na kupitia neno la Guru wanafurahia dawa ya Jina la Mungu.

ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ਮਹਾ ਨਿਰਜੋਗ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
har ras bhog mahaa nirjog vadbhaagee har ras paa-i-aa.
By great good fortune, they obtain the elixir of God’s Name; they enjoy the elixir of God’s Name and remain totally detached from the worldly bonds.
Kwa bahati nzuri sana, wanapata dawa ya Jina la Mungu; wanafurahia dawa ya Jina la Mungu na kubaki wamejitenga kabisa kutoka vifungo vya kidunia.

ਸੇ ਧੰਨੁ ਵਡੇ ਸਤ ਪੁਰਖਾ ਪੂਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
say Dhan vaday sat purkhaa pooray jin gurmat naam Dhi-aa-i-aa.
Very blessed and spiritually perfect are those who through the Guru’s teachings meditate on Naam with loving devotion.
Wamebarikiwa mno na ni kamili kiroho wale ambao kupitia mafundisho ya Guru wanatafakari kuhusu Naam kwa ujitoaji wa upendo.

ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਰੇਣੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਪਗ ਸਾਧੂ ਮਨਿ ਚੂਕਾ ਸੋਗੁ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
jan naanak rayn mangai pag saaDhoo man chookaa sog vijog jee-o.
Devotee Nanak begs for the most humble service of the Guru, through which the pain of separation from God is removed.
Mtawa Nanak anaomba huduma nyenyekevu zaidi ya Guru, ambayo kuipitia uchungu wa utengano kutoka Mungu unaondolewa.

ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਨਾ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ ਤੇ ਊਤਮ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲੋਗ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੦॥
jinH har meeth lagaanaa tay jan parDhaanaa tay ootam har har log jee-o. ||4||3||10||
Most exalted are those people, to whom God seems sweet; they are the most distinguished beloveds of God. ||4||3||10||
wamekwezwa zaidi watu hao, ambao Mungu anaonekana kuwa mtamu kwao; wao ni wapendwa mashuhuri zaidi wa Mungu.

ਸਤਜੁਗਿ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਸਰੀਰਾ ਪਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਧਰਮੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
satjug sabh santokh sareeraa pag chaaray Dharam Dhi-aan jee-o.
People spiritually living in Sat-Yug (truthfully) are content; faith supported on four pillars (compassion, charity, penance and truth) is the focus of their life.
Watu wanaoishi kiroho katika Sat-Yug (katika ukweli) wametoshelezwa; imani iliyotegemezwa na nguzo nne (ukarimu, hisani, toba na ukweli) ni umakini wa maisha yao.

ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
man tan har gaavahi param sukh paavahi har hirdai har gun gi-aan jee-o.
Divine knowledge about God’s virtues is enshrined within their hearts; they sing God’s praises with love and devotion and enjoy the supreme bliss.
Maarifa takatifu kuhusu fadhila za Mungu yamethaminiwa ndani mwa mioyo yao; wanaimba sifa za Mungu kwa upendo na ujitoaji na kufurahia raha tele kuu.

ਗੁਣ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਤਾਰਥੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
gun gi-aan padaarath har har kirtaarath sobhaa gurmukh ho-ee.
The spiritual wisdom of God’s virtues is their precious commodity; meditation on God is their success in life and by the Guru’s grace they are honored everywhere.
Hekima ya kiroho ya fadhila za Mungu ni bidhaa yao yenye thamani; kutafakari kuhusu Mungu ni fanikio lao maishani na kwa neema ya Guru wanaenziwa kote.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੋ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
antar baahar har parabh ayko doojaa avar na ko-ee.
Both within their hearts and out side in the nature, they behold only one God and none other.
Ndani mwa mioyo yao na nje katika mazingira, wanatazama Mungu Mmoja peke yake wala hawaoni mwengine.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
har har liv laa-ee har naam sakhaa-ee har dargeh paavai maan jee-o.
They attune their mind to God; God’s Name is their companion and they receive honor in God’s presence.
Wanamakinisha akili yao kwa Mungu; Jina la Mungu ni mwendani wao na wanapokea staha katika uwepo wa Mungu.

ਸਤਜੁਗਿ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਸਰੀਰਾ ਪਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਧਰਮੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

ਤੇਤਾ ਜੁਗੁ ਆਇਆ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਤੁ ਸੰਜਮ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
taytaa jug aa-i-aa antar jor paa-i-aa jat sanjam karam kamaa-ay jee-o.
People, whose minds are ruled by power and are practicing deeds of celibacy and self-discipline, are mentally living in Treta-Yug.
Watu, ambao akili zao zinatawalwa na mamlaka na wanatenda vitendo vya useja na nidhamu binafsi, wanaishi katika Treta-Yug kiakili.

ਪਗੁ ਚਉਥਾ ਖਿਸਿਆ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਪਗ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਜਲਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
pag cha-uthaa khisi-aa tarai pag tiki-aa man hirdai kroDh jalaa-ay jee-o.
The fourth pillar (compassion) slips away and their faith is supported only on three pillars; anger takes over their mind and heart which ruins them spiritually.
Nguzo ya nne (ukarimu) unaondoka na imani yao inategemezwa kwa nguzo tatu; hasira inatawala akili na moyo wao ambayo inawaharibu kiroho.

ਮਨਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਸਲੋਧੁ ਨਿਰਪ ਧਾਵਹਿ ਲੜਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
man hirdai kroDh mahaa bisloDh nirap Dhaaveh larh dukh paa-i-aa.
Their hearts and minds are filled with anger, as if a poisonous tree is growing within them; due to anger the kings wage battles and endure misery.
Mioyo na akili zao zinajawa na hasira, kana kwamba mti wenye sumu unamea ndani mwao; kutokana na hasira wafalme wanapigana vita na kukumbwa na taabu.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਮਤਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਲਗਾਨਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਵਧਾਇਆ ॥
antar mamtaa rog lagaanaa ha-umai ahaNkaar vaDhaa-i-aa.
They are afflicted with self-conceit, which multiplies their arrogance and ego.
Wanaathiriwa na majivuno binafsi, yanayozidisha kiburi na ubinafsi wao.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
har har kirpaa Dhaaree mayrai thaakur bikh gurmat har naam leh jaa-ay jee-o.
Those on whom my Master-God shows mercy, their poison is removed by meditating on God’s Name through the Guru’s teachings.
Wale ambao Bwana-Mungu anaonea huruma, sumu yao inaondolewa kwa kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu kupitia mafundisho ya Guru.

jug du-aapur aa-i-aa bharam bharmaa-i-aa har gopee kaanH upaa-ay jee-o.
Some of the Gopis and krishna (women and men) from God’s creation are wandering in doubts, as if they are mentally living in age of Duappar.
Gopis na krishna (wake na waume) wengine kutoka kwa uumbaji wa Mungu wanazurura katika shaka, kana kwamba wanaishi katika enzi ya Duappar kiakili.

ਤਪੁ ਤਾਪਨ ਤਾਪਹਿ ਜਗ ਪੁੰਨ ਆਰੰਭਹਿ ਅਤਿ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
tap taapan taapeh jag punn aarambheh at kiri-aa karam kamaa-ay jee-o.
These people practice penance, offer sacred feasts, initiate charities and perform many rituals and religious rites.
Watu hao wanafanya toba, sherehe takatifu, wanaanzilisha hisani na kufanya mila nyingi na desturi za kidini.

ਕਿਰਿਆ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਪਗ ਦੁਇ ਖਿਸਕਾਇਆ ਦੁਇ ਪਗ ਟਿਕੈ ਟਿਕਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
kiri-aa karam kamaa-i-aa pag du-ay khiskaa-i-aa du-ay pag tikai tikaa-ay jee-o.
They perform many rituals and religious rites; two pillars of religion slip away (compassion and truth); their faith remains standing on the two pillars (charity and penance)
Wanafanya mila nyingi na desturi za kidini; nguzo mbili za kidini zinapotea (ukarimu na ukweli); imani yao inasalia imesimama kwa nguzo mbili (hisani na toba)

ਮਹਾ ਜੁਧ ਜੋਧ ਬਹੁ ਕੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਪਚੈ ਪਚਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
mahaa juDh joDh baho keenHay vich ha-umai pachai pachaa-ay jee-o.
Great warriors wage many great wars; in their ego they ruin themselves and ruin others as well.
Shujaa wakuu wanapigana vita vingu vikuu; katika ubinafsi wao wanajiangamiza na kuangamiza wengine pia.

ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਧੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਲੁ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
deen da-i-aal gur saaDh milaa-i-aa mil satgur mal leh jaa-ay jee-o.
The merciful God of the meek unites them with the Guru; the dirt of ego is washed away on meeting with the true Guru.
Mungu mwenye rehema wa wapole anawaunganisha na Guru; uchafu wa ubinafsi unasafishwa kwa kukutana na Guru wa kweli.

ਜੁਗੁ ਦੁਆਪੁਰੁ ਆਇਆ ਭਰਮਿ ਭਰਮਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਗੋਪੀ ਕਾਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
