ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੀਵਹੁ ਅਮਰ ਫਲ ਖਾਹੁ ॥੧੦॥
jug jug jeevhu amar fal khaahu. ||10||
the reward of these efforts will be everlasting and you would live a long spiritually fulfilled life. ||10||
thawabu ya jitihada hizi itadumu milele na utaishi maisha marefu ya kiroho yaliyotimizwa.

ਦਸਮੀ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦ ॥
dasmee dah dis ho-ay anand.
Dasmi: (the tenth lunar day), bliss prevails in all the ten directions.
Dasmi: (siku ya kumi ya mwezi), raha tele inadumu katika mielekeo yote kumi.

ਛੂਟੈ ਭਰਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥
chhootai bharam milai gobind.
Doubt is dispelled and one realizes the Master-God of the universe.
Shaka inaondolewa na mtu anagundua Bwana-Mungu wa ulimwengu.

ਜੋਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੀ ਤਤ ਅਨੂਪ ॥
jot saroopee tat anoop.
He is is pure light, the essence of the universe and is of unparalleled beauty.
Yeye ni mwanga kamili, ndiye kiini cha ulimwengu na mwenye uzuri usioweza kufananishwa.

ਅਮਲ ਨ ਮਲ ਨ ਛਾਹ ਨਹੀ ਧੂਪ ॥੧੧॥
amal na mal na chhaah nahee Dhoop. ||11||
He is immaculate, unsoiled by evils; neither there is darkness of ignorance nor any fire of worldly desires in Him. ||11||
Yeye ni safi kabisa, hajachafuliwa na maovu; hakuna giza ya ujinga wala moto wowote wa hamu za kidunia ndani mwake.

ਏਕਾਦਸੀ ਏਕ ਦਿਸ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
aykaadasee ayk dis Dhaavai.
Ekadashi: (the eleventh lunar day), turning away from worldly desires when one’s mind runs towards God,
Ekadashi: (siku ya kumi na moja ya mwezi), akigeuka kutoka hamu za kidunia wakati akili ya mtu inamkimbilia Mungu,

ਤਉ ਜੋਨੀ ਸੰਕਟ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
ta-o jonee sankat bahur na aavai.
then one doesn’t suffer in the cycles of birth and death anymore.
Basi mtu hateseki katika mizunguko ya kuzaliwa na kufa tena.

ਸੀਤਲ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਭਇਆ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥
seetal nirmal bha-i-aa sareeraa.
He becomes calm and immaculate.
Yeye anakuwa mtulivu na safi kabisa.

ਦੂਰਿ ਬਤਾਵਤ ਪਾਇਆ ਨੀਰਾ ॥੧੨॥
door bataavat paa-i-aa neeraa. ||12||
God who was said to be far away, he finds Him very near (within him), ||12||
Mungu ambaye alisemekana kuwa mbali sana, anampata Yeye kuwa karibu mno (ndani mwake),

ਬਾਰਸਿ ਬਾਰਹ ਉਗਵੈ ਸੂਰ ॥
baaras baarah ugvai soor.
Baaris: (the twelfth lunar day), one who attunes to God is illuminated with the light of divine knowledge as if twelve suns have arisen in his mind.
Baaris: (siku ya kumi na mbili ya mwezi), yule ambaye anamakinikia Mungu anaangazwa na mwanga wa maarifa takatifu kana kwamba jua kumi na mbili limetokea akilini mwake.

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਬਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਤੂਰ ॥
ahinis baajay anhad toor.
He feels as if continuous divine music is always playing within him.
Anahisi kana kwamba muziki takatifu isiyo na mwisho inacheza ndani mwake daima.

ਦੇਖਿਆ ਤਿਹੂੰ ਲੋਕ ਕਾ ਪੀਉ ॥
daykhi-aa tihoo-aN lok kaa pee-o.
He is blessed with the sight of the Master-God of the three worlds,
Yeye amebarikiwa na mwono wa Bwana-Mungu wa dunia tatu,

ਅਚਰਜੁ ਭਇਆ ਜੀਵ ਤੇ ਸੀਉ ॥੧੩॥
achraj bha-i-aa jeev tay see-o. ||13||
such a wonder happens that an ordinary human being transforms into the embodiment God. ||13||
ajabu kama hiyo inatendeka kwamba binadamu wa kawaida anabadilika kuwa udhihirisho wa kimwili wa Mungu.

ਤੇਰਸਿ ਤੇਰਹ ਅਗਮ ਬਖਾਣਿ ॥
tayras tayrah agam bakhaan.
Tairis:(the thirteenth lunar day), all the thirteen (Hindu) holy books describeonly the one God,
Tairis: (siku ya kumi na tatu ya mwezi), vitabu vyote kumi na vitatu (vya kihindu) vinaeleza Mungu mmoja pekee.

ਅਰਧ ਉਰਧ ਬਿਚਿ ਸਮ ਪਹਿਚਾਣਿ ॥
araDh uraDh bich sam pehchaan.
They advise that you should recognize God alike in the entire universe.
Vinakushauri kwamba unafaa kutambua Mungu sawasawa katika ulimwengu mzima.

ਨੀਚ ਊਚ ਨਹੀ ਮਾਨ ਅਮਾਨ ॥
neech ooch nahee maan amaan.
For you, there should not be anyone of high or low status and no one honorable or dishonorable,
Kwako, hakufai kuwa na yeyote wa hadhi ya juu au chini na hakuna mtu anayeheshimika na asiyeheshimika,

ਬਿਆਪਿਕ ਰਾਮ ਸਗਲ ਸਾਮਾਨ ॥੧੪॥
bi-aapik raam sagal saamaan. ||14||
instead you should deem that God is pervading equally in all. ||14||
badala yake unafaa kufikiria kwamba Mungu anaenea sawasawa katika vyote.

ਚਉਦਸਿ ਚਉਦਹ ਲੋਕ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥ ਰੋਮ ਰੋਮ ਮਹਿ ਬਸਹਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥
cha-udas cha-odah lok majhaar. rom rom meh baseh muraar.
Chaudis (the fourteenth lunar day), God is pervading in every particle, and all the fourteen worlds (seven skies and seven earths according to Muslims belief)
Chaudis (siku ya kumi na nne ya mwezi), Mungu anaenea katika kila chembe, na katika dunia zote kumi na nne (anga saba na dunia saba kulingana na imani ya Waislamu)

ਸਤ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਕਾ ਧਰਹੁ ਧਿਆਨ ॥
sat santokh kaa Dharahu Dhi-aan.
Concentrate on truth and contentment.
Makinika kwa ukweli na kutoshelezwa.

ਕਥਨੀ ਕਥੀਐ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨ ॥੧੫॥
kathnee kathee-ai barahm gi-aan. ||15||
Talk about the divine knowledge. ||15||
Zungumza kuhusu maarifa takatifu.

ਪੂਨਿਉ ਪੂਰਾ ਚੰਦ ਅਕਾਸ ॥
pooni-o pooraa chand akaas.
Puneo (the full moon night), the moon rises in the sky in its complete form.
Puneo (usiku wa mwezi mpevu), mwezi unatokea angani katika muundo wake kamilifu.

ਪਸਰਹਿ ਕਲਾ ਸਹਜ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥
pasrahi kalaa sahj pargaas.
All its powers (or rays) spread in every direction and emanates peace-giving light all around.
Nguvu zake zote (au miale) zinaenea katika kila mwelekeo na kueneza mwanga unaotoa amani kote.

ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਮਧਿ ਹੋਇ ਰਹਿਆ ਥੀਰ ॥
aad ant maDh ho-ay rahi-aa theer.
God is eternally present from the beginning to the end and in between.
Mungu yupo milele kutoka mwanzoni hadi mwishoni na hapo katikati.

ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਰਮਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ॥੧੬॥
sukh saagar meh rameh kabeer. ||16||
Kabir is immeressed in that God, the ocean of peace. ||16||
Kabir amevama katika Mungu huyo, bahari ya amani.

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God. Realized by the grace of the true Guru:
Mungu Mmoja wa milele. Anayegunduliwa kwa neema ya Guru wa kweli:

ਰਾਗੁ ਗਉੜੀ ਵਾਰ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀਉ ਕੇ ੭ ॥
raag ga-orhee vaar kabeer jee-o kay 7.
Raag Gauree, Kabeer Jee: the seven days of the week.
Raag Gauree, Kabeer Jee: siku saba za wiki.

ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਉ ॥
baar baar har kay gun gaava-o.
Again and again, at every instant I sing praises of God .
Tena na tena, kila wakati naimba sifa za Mungu.

ਗੁਰ ਗਮਿ ਭੇਦੁ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਪਾਵਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur gam bhayd so har kaa paava-o.||1|| rahaa-o.
By seeking the guidance of the Guru, I have found this secret of realizing God ||1||Pause||
Kwa kutafuta mwongozo wa Guru, nimepata siri hii ya kumgundua Mungu. ||1||Sitisha||

ਆਦਿਤ ਕਰੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਆਰੰਭ ॥
aadit karai bhagat aarambh.
Aadit (Sunday), when one commences meditation on God,
Aadit (Jumapili), wakati mtu anaanza kutafakari kuhusu Mungu,

ਕਾਇਆ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਨਸਾ ਥੰਭ ॥
kaa-i-aa mandar mansaa thambh.
one’s body becomes like a temple and one’s desire to find God becomes like a pillar of this temple.
Mwili wake unakuwa kama hekalu na hamu ya mtu ya kumpata Mungu inakuwa kama nguzo ya hekalu hii.

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਅਖੰਡ ਸੁਰਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
ahinis akhand surhee jaa-ay.
When day and night one’s conscious embellished with devotional worship remains uninterruptedly attuned to God,
Wakati mchana na usiku fahamu ya mtu ikipambwa na ibada ya ujitoaji inabaki imemakinikia Mungu bila kukatizwa,

ਤਉ ਅਨਹਦ ਬੇਣੁ ਸਹਜ ਮਹਿ ਬਾਇ ॥੧॥
ta-o anhad bayn sahj meh baa-ay.||1||
then non stop divine music starts intuitively playing in the mind. ||1||
basi muziki takatifu isiyo na mwisho inaanza kucheza akilini kisilika.

ਸੋਮਵਾਰਿ ਸਸਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਝਰੈ ॥
somvaar sas amrit jharai.
Somvar, (Monday), by singing God’s praises, such a state of tranquility begins to prevail in the mind as if ambrosial nectar is trickling within.
Somvar, (Jumatatu), kwa kuimba sifa za Mungu, hali kama hiyo ya utulivu inaanza kudumu akilini kana kwamba nekta ya ambarosia inatiririka ndani mwake.

ਚਾਖਤ ਬੇਗਿ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਖ ਹਰੈ ॥
chaakhat bayg sagal bikh harai.
By tasting this nectar, all evils are eradicated in an instant.
Kwa kuonja nekta hii, maovu yote yanaondolewa papo hapo.

ਬਾਣੀ ਰੋਕਿਆ ਰਹੈ ਦੁਆਰ ॥
banee roki-aa rahai du-aar.
Yes, when through the Guru’s word the mind is kept restrained from evils, it remains focused on God.
Ndio, wakati kupitia neno la Guru akili inazuiliwa kutoka maovu, inabaki imemakinikia Mungu.

ਤਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਤਵਾਰੋ ਪੀਵਨਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
ta-o man matvaaro peevanhaar.||2||
Engrossed in God’s love, mind keeps drinking that ambrosial nectar. ||2||
Ikivama katika upendo wa Mungu, akili inaendelea kunywa nekta ya ambrosia.

ਮੰਗਲਵਾਰੇ ਲੇ ਮਾਹੀਤਿ ॥
mangalvaaray lay maaheet.
Mangal vaar: (Tuesday), by singing God’s praises one protects his mind as if he makes a fort around it,
Mangal vaar: (Jumanne), kwa kuimba sifa za Mungu mtu analinda akili yake kana kwamba anajenga ngome kuizunguka.

ਪੰਚ ਚੋਰ ਕੀ ਜਾਣੈ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
panch chor kee jaanai reet.
and understands how the five evil impulses sway one’s mind towards undesirable deeds.
Na anaelewa jinsi misukumo mitano miovu yanayumbisha akili ya mtu kwa vitendo vibaya.

ਘਰ ਛੋਡੇਂ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
ghar chhodayN baahar jin jaa-ay.
O’ brother, forsaking such a house (body fort), you shouldn’t go outside and do not let the mind wander,
Ee ndugu, kwa kuacha nyumba kama hiyo (mwili kama ngome), hufai kuenda nje na usiache akili izurure,

ਨਾਤਰੁ ਖਰਾ ਰਿਸੈ ਹੈ ਰਾਇ ॥੩॥
naatar kharaa risai hai raa-ay. ||3||
otherwise falling into evil ways, the mind would be miserable. ||3||
ama sivyo ikijitosa katika mienendo mbaya, akili itataabika.

ਬੁਧਵਾਰਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਕਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥
buDhvaar buDh karai pargaas.
Budhvaar: (Wednesday), the person who illumines his mind with Naam,
Budhvaar: (Jumatano), mtu ambaye anaangaza akili yake na Naam,

ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕਮਲ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਬਾਸ ॥
hirdai kamal meh har kaa baas.
realizes the presences of God in his heart.
Anagundua uwepo wa Mungu moyoni mwake.

ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਦੋਊ ਏਕ ਸਮ ਧਰੈ ॥ ਉਰਧ ਪੰਕ ਲੈ ਸੂਧਾ ਕਰੈ ॥੪॥
gur mil do-oo ayk sam Dharai.uraDh pank lai sooDhaa karai. ||4||
By following the Guru’s teaching, he turns his heart away from Maya, towards meditation on God and thus brings about the union between the soul and God.
Kwa kufuata funzo la Guru, anageuza akili yake kutoka kwa Maya, anaelekeza kwa kutafakari kuhusu Mungu na hivyo anafanyiza muungano kati ya roho na Mungu.

ਬ੍ਰਿਹਸਪਤਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਦੇਇ ਬਹਾਇ ॥
barihaspat bikhi-aa day-ay bahaa-ay.
Brehspat: (Thursday), one washes off the attachment to Maya by singing the praises of God.
Brehspat: (Alhamisi), mtu anasafisha kiambatisho cha Maya kwa kuimba sifa za Mungu.

ਤੀਨਿ ਦੇਵ ਏਕ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਾਇ ॥
teen dayv ayk sang laa-ay.
Forsaking the three phases of Maya, he remains absorbed in God’s remembrance.
Akiacha hatua tatu za Maya, anabaki amevama katika ukumbusho wa Mungu.

ਤੀਨਿ ਨਦੀ ਤਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
teen nadee tah tarikutee maahi.
Three wrinkles of inner worry show up on the forehead of those who remain sinking in the three rivers of vice, virtue and power.
Makunyanzi matatu ya wasiwasi wa ndani yanatokea kwenye paji la wale wanasalia wanazama katika mito mitatu ya dhambi, fadhila na nguvu.

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਕਸਮਲ ਧੋਵਹਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੫॥
ahinis kasmal Dhoveh naahi. ||5||
They always commit sinful deeds and don’t wash off their sins. ||5||
Daima wanatenda vitendo vya dhambi na hawasafishi dhambi zao.

ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਹਾਰੈ ਸੁ ਇਹ ਬ੍ਰਤਿ ਚੜੈ ॥
sukrit sahaarai so ih barat charhai.
Sukrit: (Friday), one who endures the difficulties of doing virtuous deeds without becoming egotistical is climbing a steep hill.
Sukrit: (Friday), yule ambaye anavumilia matatizo ya kutenda vitendo vyema bila kuwa mwenye ubinafsi anapanda mlima wenye mwinuko mkali.

ਅਨਦਿਨ ਆਪਿ ਆਪ ਸਿਉ ਲੜੈ ॥
an-din aap aap si-o larhai.
Such a person always fights with his mind to prevent from doing undesirable deeds.
Mtu kama huyo daima anapigana na akili yake kuizuia kufanya vitendo vibaya.

ਸੁਰਖੀ ਪਾਂਚਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਸਬੈ ॥
surkhee paaNcha-o raakhai sabai.
Such a person controls all the five sensory organs,
Mtu kama huyo anadhibiti viungo vyote tano vya hisi,

ਤਉ ਦੂਜੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨ ਪੈਸੈ ਕਬੈ ॥੬॥
ta-o doojee darisat na paisai kabai. ||6||
and never succumbs to bigotry or discrimination. ||6||
na kamwe hajihusishi na ubaguzi au upendeleo.

ਥਾਵਰ ਥਿਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
thaavar thir kar raakhai so-ay.
Thaavar: (Saturday), by meditating on Naam, one keeps enshrined,
thaavar: (Jumamosi), kwa kutafakari kuhusu Naam, mtu anathamini,

ਜੋਤਿ ਦੀ ਵਟੀ ਘਟ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਇ ॥
jot dee vatee ghat meh jo-ay.
the beautiful divine light which is shining in each heart.
Mwanga mzuri mtakatifu unaong’aa katika kila moyo.

ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਭਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
baahar bheetar bha-i-aa pargaas.
Such a person beholds the illumination of this divine light both within and in the entire universe.
Mtu kama huyo anatazama mwangazo wa mwanga huo mtakatifu ndani mwake na katika ulimwengu mzima.

ਤਬ ਹੂਆ ਸਗਲ ਕਰਮ ਕਾ ਨਾਸੁ ॥੭॥
tab hoo-aa sagal karam kaa naas. ||7||
Then all his past deeds are destroyed. ||7||
Kisha vitendo vyake vyote vya awali vinaangamizwa.
