ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਹੁ ਅੰਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥
har chaytahu ant ho-ay sakhaa-ee.
Keep meditating on God’s Name, who shall be your Help and Support in the end.
Endelea kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu, ambaye atakuwa Msaidizi na Msaada wako mwishowe.

ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
har agam agochar anaath ajonee satgur kai bhaa-ay paavni-aa. ||1||
God is Inaccessible and Incomprehensible. He has no master, and He is beyond birth and death. He is realized by living in accordance with the Guru’s word.
Mungu hawezi kufikiwa wala hawezi kueleweka. Yeye hana bwana, naye amezidi kuzaliwa na kufa. Yeye anagunduliwa kwa kuishi kulingana na neno la Guru.

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਆਪੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਿਆ ॥
ha-o vaaree jee-o vaaree aap nivaarni-aa.
I dedicate myself, to those who eliminate their self-conceit.
Najiweka wakfu, kwa wake wanaoangamiza majivuno binafsi.

ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aap gavaa-ay taa har paa-ay har si-o sahj samaavani-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By eradicating self-conceit one realizes God and intuitively merges in Him.
Kwa kuondoa majivuno binafsi mtu anagundua Mungu na anaungana naye kwa hisia na silika.

ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥
poorab likhi-aa so karam kamaa-i-aa.
One does that deed in this world, which has been pre-written in one’s destiny, based on the deeds done in the past
Mtu anafanya kitendo hicho duniani humu, ambacho kimeandikwa mapema katika hatima yake, kutokana na vitendo vilivyofanywa hapo awali

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
satgur sayv sadaa sukh paa-i-aa.
One obtains lasting peace by following the teachings of the True Guru.
Mtu anapata amani ya kudumu kwa kufuata mafundisho ya Guru wa kweli.

ਬਿਨੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਬਦੈ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
bin bhaagaa gur paa-ee-ai naahee sabdai mayl milaavani-aa. ||2||
But without good fortune, one does not meet the Guru, who unites a person with God through his word.
Lakini bila bahati nzuri, mtu hakutani na Guru, anayeunganisha mtu na Mungu kupitia neno lake.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਰਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥
gurmukh alipat rahai sansaaray.
A Guru’s follower, while living in the world, remains detached from Maya.
Mfuasi wa Guru, akiwa anaishi duniani humu, anabaki amejitenga kutoka Maya.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਤਕੀਐ ਨਾਮਿ ਅਧਾਰੇ ॥
gur kai takee-ai naam aDhaaray.
This is possible only through the support of Guru’s word and God’s Name.
Hii inawezekana tu kupitia msaada wa neno la Guru na Jina la Mungu.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੋਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪੇ ਖਪਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
gurmukh jor karay ki-aa tis no aapay khap dukh paavni-aa. ||3||
No one can oppress a Guru’s follower. If one tries shall perish, writhing in pain.
Hakuna mtu anaweza kudhulumu mfuasi wa Guru. Iwapo mtu ajaribu ataangamia, akijikunga katika maumivu.

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧੇ ਸੁਧਿ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥
manmukh anDhay suDh na kaa-ee.
The blind self-willed has no understanding at all about shedding self-conceit.
Kipofu wa kiroho mwenye hiari binafsi hana uelewa hata kidogo kuhusu kuondoa majivuno binafsi.

ਆਤਮ ਘਾਤੀ ਹੈ ਜਗਤ ਕਸਾਈ ॥
aatam ghaatee hai jagat kasaa-ee.
He is the assassin of the self conscience, and butcher of the world.
Yeye ndiye mwangamizi wa fahamu binafsi, na mchinjaji wa dunia.

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਰੁ ਉਠਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਜੂਰੀ ਭਾਰੁ ਪਹੁਚਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
nindaa kar kar baho bhaar uthaavai bin majooree bhaar pahuchaavani-aa. ||4||
By continually slandering others, he carries a terrible load of sins, and is like a laborer who carries loads without any remuneration.
Kwa kuzungumza kashfa kuhusu wengine mara kwa mara, anabeba mzigo mbaya wa dhambi, na ni kama mfanyakazi anayebeba mizigo bila malipo yoyote.

ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਵਾੜੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਾਲੀ ॥
ih jag vaarhee mayraa parabh maalee.
This world is like a garden, and my God is its Gardener.
Dunia ni kama bustani, na Mungu wangu ndiye mtunza bustani hilo.

ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲੇ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਖਾਲੀ ॥
sadaa samaalay ko naahee khaalee.
He always takes care of it-nothing is without His Care.
Daima analitunza- hakuna ambacho kipo bila Utunzaji wake.

ਜੇਹੀ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਪਾਏ ਤੇਹੀ ਵਰਤੈ ਵਾਸੂ ਵਾਸੁ ਜਣਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
jayhee vaasnaa paa-ay tayhee vartai vaasoo vaas janaavani-aa. ||5||
Whatever attribute God infuses in a person, that person displays that disposition.Just as flower is known by its fragrance a person is known from his disposition.
Sifa yoyote ambayo Mungu anaweka ndani ya mtu, mtu huyo anaonyesha tabia hiyo. Kama vile ua linajulikana kutokana na harufu yake mtu anajulikana kulingana na tabia yake.

ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਰੋਗੀ ਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
manmukh rogee hai sansaaraa.
Indulged in vices The self-willed manmukhs in the world are sick and diseased.
Wakijishughulisha na maovu manmukh wenye hiari binafsi dunia ni wagonjwa na wenye maradhi.

ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
sukh-daata visri-aa agam apaaraa.
They have forgotten the Unfathomable and Infinite God, the Giver of peace.
Wamesahau Mungu asiyefahamika na asiye na mwisho, Mpaji wa amani.

ਦੁਖੀਏ ਨਿਤਿ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਬਿਲਲਾਦੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
dukhee-ay nit fireh billaaday bin gur saaNt na paavni-aa. ||6||
These miserable people wander endlessly, crying out in pain; without following the Guru’s teachings, they find no peace
Watu hao wenye taabu wanazurura bila mwisho, wakilia kwa uchungu; bila kufuata mafundisho ya Guru, hawapati amani yoyote.

ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤੇ ਸੋਈ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
jin keetay so-ee biDh jaanai.
Hewho has created them, knows the way of their salvation.
Yeye aliyewaumba, anajua njia ya wokovu wao.

ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
aap karay taa hukam pachhaanai.
When God Himself shows mercy, a human being realizes His will.
Wakati Mungu mwenyewe anaonyesha huruma, binadamu anagundua mapenzi ya Mungu.

ਜੇਹਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਤੇਹਾ ਵਰਤੈ ਆਪੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
jayhaa andar paa-ay tayhaa vartai aapay baahar paavni-aa. ||7||
Whatever attribute God puts in a person, that person acts accordingly, and God Himself drives out one’s vices.
Sifa yoyote ambayo Mungu anaweka ndani ya mtu, mtu huyo anatenda ipasavyo, na Mungu mwenyewe anafurusha maovu ya mtu.

ਤਿਸੁ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਸਚੇ ਮੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
tis baajhahu sachay mai hor na ko-ee.
Except the eternal God, I have no one else to depend upon.
Isipokuwa Mungu wa milele, sina mwengine wa kutegemea.

ਜਿਸੁ ਲਾਇ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
jis laa-ay la-ay so nirmal ho-ee.
He, whom God attunes to Himself, becomespure.
Yeye, ambaye Mungu anamakinisha kwake mwenyewe, anakuwa safi.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੪॥੧੫॥
naanak naam vasai ghat antar jis dayvai so paavni-aa. ||8||14||15||
O’ Nanak, God’s Name dwells in each heart. But only he realizes It, whom God gives true understanding .
Ee Nanak, Jina la Mungu linaishi katika kila moyo. Lakini anayeligundua tu, ni yule ambaye Mungu anampa uelewa halisi.

ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
amrit naam man vasaa-ay.
By enshrining the Ambrosial Name of God, in the mind,
Kwa kuweka Jina lenye Ambrosia la Mungu, akilini,

ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
ha-umai mayraa sabh dukh gavaa-ay.
all the pains of egotism and possessiveness are eliminated.
Maumivu yote ya ubinafsi na umiliki yanaondolewa.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
amrit banee sadaa salaahay amrit amrit paavni-aa. ||1||
By continually singing the praises of God through the Guru’s Ambrosial word, the immortalizing Nectar of Naam is obtained.
Kwa kuimba sifa za Mungu bila mwisho kupitia neno lenye Ambrosia la Guru, Nekta ya Naam inayoruzuku uzima wa milele inapatikana.

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
ha-o vaaree jee-o vaaree amrit banee man vasaavani-aa.
I dedicate myself to the one who enshrines the Guru’s Ambrosial word within his mind.
Najiweka wakfu kwa yule anayeweka vizuri neno la Ambrosia la Guru ndani mwa akili yake.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
amrit banee man vasaa-ay amrit naam Dhi-aavani-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Enshrining the Guru’s ambrosial word in the heart, he meditates on the immortalizing Name of God.
Akithamini neno la Ambrosia la Guru moyoni, anatafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu linaloruzuku uzima wa milele.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਸਦਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਵੈਣੀ ॥
amrit bolai sadaa mukh vainee.
The person, who continually utters the Ambrosial Nectar like Name of God,
Mtu, ambaye anatamka Jina la Mungu kama Nekta ya Ambrosia mara kwa mara,

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵੇਖੈ ਪਰਖੈ ਸਦਾ ਨੈਣੀ ॥
amrit vaykhai parkhai sadaa nainee.
sees and realizes the immortal God in everything.
Anaona na kumgundua Mungu asiyeweza kufa katika kila kitu.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਥਾ ਕਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਅਵਰਾ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਨਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
amrit kathaa kahai sadaa din raatee avraa aakh sunaavni-aa. ||2||
They continually chant the Ambrosial Sermon day and night; chanting it, they cause others to hear it. ||2|| Day and night, he utters the Ambrosial praises of God, and narrates these to others.
Wanaimba Mahubiri yenye Ambrosia mchana na usiku mara kwa mara; wakiyaimba, wanafanya wengine wayasikie. ||2||Mchana na usiku, anatamka sifa zenye Ambrosia za Mungu, na kusimulia hizi kwa wengine.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਾ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥
amrit rang rataa liv laa-ay.
The one who is imbued with the Ambrosial Love of God and lovingly focuses his attention on Him,
Yule ambaye amejawa na Upendo wenye Ambrosia wa Mungu na anamakinika kwa upendo kwa Mungu,

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਏ ॥
amrit gur parsaadee paa-ay.
by the Guru’s grace, he obtains the Ambrosial Naam.
Kwa neema ya Guru, anapata Naam yenye Ambrosia.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਬੋਲੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
amrit rasnaa bolai din raatee man tan amrit pee-aavni-aa. ||3||
Day and night he utters the nectar like Name of God with his tongue, and with body and mind helps others to relish this nectar like Naam.
Mchana na usiku anatamka Jina la Mungu kama nekta kwa ulimi wake, na kwa mwili na akili yake anasaidia wengine kufurahia Naam hii kama nekta.

ਸੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਜੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
so kichh karai jo chit na ho-ee.
God does which is beyond anyone’s imagination.
Mungu anatenda kile ambacho hakiwezi kufikiriwa na yeyote.

ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮੇਟਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
tis daa hukam mayt na sakai ko-ee.
No one can erase His Command.
Hakuna mtu anaweza kufuta Amri yake.

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਵਰਤੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
hukmay vartai amrit banee hukmay amrit pee-aavni-aa. ||4||
It is according to His command that His Ambrosial word prevails, and it is by His command that He administers His nectar like Name.
Ni kulingana na amri yake ambapo neno lake lenye Ambrosia linadumu, na ni kwa amri yake ambapo anatoa Jina lake kama nekta.

ਅਜਬ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੇ ॥
ajab kamm kartay har kayray.
The actions of the Creator are wonderful
Vitendo vyote vya Muumba ni vizuri

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਭੂਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਫੇਰੇ ॥
ih man bhoolaa jaaNdaa fayray.
He brings the straying mind of a person on the right path.
Analeta akili ya mtu iliyopotoka kwenye njia sahihi.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
amrit banee si-o chit laa-ay amrit sabad vajaavani-aa. ||5||
He who attunes his mind to the Guru’s Ambrosial word, hears the divine music.
Yule anayemakinisha akili yake kwa neno lenye Ambrosia la Guru, anasikia muziki takatifu.
