ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਘੜਿ ਭੰਨਿ ਸਵਾਰਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੫॥੬॥
tooN aapay hee gharh bhann savaareh naanak naam suhaavani-aa. ||8||5||6||
You Yourself create, destroy and refashion Your creation. O’ Nanak, You adorn and embellish mortals with Your Name.
Wewe mwenyewe unaumba, unaangamiza na kutengeneza upya uumbaji wako. Ee Nanak, unapamba nabinadamu kwa Jina lako.

ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Raag Maajh, by the Third Guru:
Raag Maajh, na Guru wa Tatu:

ਸਭ ਘਟ ਆਪੇ ਭੋਗਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
sabh ghat aapay bhoganhaaraa.
It is God who enjoys everything in the world, as He pervades in all hearts.
Ni Mungu anayefurahia kila kitu duniani, anavyoenea katika mioyo yote.

ਅਲਖੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
alakh vartai agam apaaraa.
The infinite and incomprehensible God is invisibly present in all.
Mungu asiye na mwisho wala asiyeeleweka yupo ndani mwa yote ijapokuwa haonekani.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
gur kai sabad mayraa har parabh Dhi-aa-ee-ai sehjay sach samaavani-aa. ||1||
Through the Guru’s word, we should meditate on the beloved God so that we may intuitively merge in Him.
Kupitia neno la Guru, tunafaa kutafakari kuhusu Mungu mpendwa ndiposa tuungane na Yeye kwa hisia na silika.

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
ha-o vaaree jee-o vaaree gur sabad man vasaavani-aa.
I dedicate myself to the person who enshrines the Guru’s word in his mind.
Najiweka wakfu kwa mtu anayeweka vizuri neno la Guru akilini mwake.

ਸਬਦੁ ਸੂਝੈ ਤਾ ਮਨ ਸਿਉ ਲੂਝੈ ਮਨਸਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sabad soojhai taa man si-o loojhai mansaa maar samaavani-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
If one understands the Guru’s word, then one wrestles with the mind, and by controlling vicious desires, becomes worthy of uniting with God.
Iwapo mtu anaelewa neno la Guru, basi mtu anapigana na akili, na kwa kudhibiti tamaa kali, anapata ustahili wa kuungana na Mungu.

ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਮੁਹਹਿ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
panch doot muheh sansaaraa.
The five vices (lust, anger, greed, attachment, and ego) are deceiving the world.
Maovu tano (ukware, hasira, tamaa, kiambatisho na ubinafsi) yanadanganya dunia.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧੇ ਸੁਧਿ ਨ ਸਾਰਾ ॥
manmukh anDhay suDh na saaraa.
Self willed, blinded by Maya, does not have any knowledge or understanding about the vices.
Wenye wasia binafsi, waliopofushwa na Maya hawana maarifa au uelewa wowote.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਅਪਣਾ ਘਰੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਚਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
gurmukh hovai so apnaa ghar raakhai panch doot sabad pachaavani-aa. ||2||
The person who follows Guru’s teachings protects his home (mind and body) from these five demons, and through the Guru’s word, destroys them.
Mtu anayefuata mafundisho ya Guru analinda nyumba yake (akili na mwili) kutoka pepo hao tano, na kupitia neno la Guru, anawaangamiza.

ਇਕਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਚੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
ik gurmukh sadaa sachai rang raatay.
The Guru’s followers are always imbued with the love of the eternal God.
Wafuasi wa Guru daima wamejawa na upendo wa Mungu wa milele.

ਸਹਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਮਾਤੇ ॥
sehjay parabh sayveh an-din maatay.
Always immersed in the love of God, they intuitively remember Him.
Daima wamevama katika upendo wa Mungu, wanamkumbuka Yeye kwa hisia na silika.

ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
mil pareetam sachay gun gaavahi har dar sobhaa paavni-aa. ||3||
Meeting with their Beloved God, they sing His Glorious Praises and they receive honor in His Court.
Kukutana na Mungu wao Mpendwa, wanaimba Sifa zake Tukufu na kupokea heshima katika mahakama yake.

ਏਕਮ ਏਕੈ ਆਪੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
aykam aikai aap upaa-i-aa.
First, God (who was alone and intangible) revealed Himself;
Kwanza, Mungu (ambaye alikuwa pekee yake na hagusiki) alijidhihirisha;

ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
dubiDhaa doojaa taribaDh maa-i-aa.
He revealed Himself in the form of His creation and became tangible and then He created the three-pronged Maya (vice, virtue and power)
Yeye alijidhihirisha katika muundo wa uumbaji wake na kuwa anaweza kugusika na kisha akaumba Maya yenye vipengele vitatu (dhambi, fadhila na mamlaka)

ਚਉਥੀ ਪਉੜੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਊਚੀ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
cha-uthee pa-orhee gurmukh oochee sacho sach kamaavani-aa. ||4||
The Guru’s follower spiritually rises to the fourth state in which he remains unaffected by the three impulses of Maya. He always meditates on God’s Name.
Mfuasi wa Guru anainuka kiroho hadi hali ya nne ambamo haathiriwi na misukumo mitatu ya Maya. Daima anatafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu.

ਸਭੁ ਹੈ ਸਚਾ ਜੇ ਸਚੇ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
sabh hai sachaa jay sachay bhaavai.
All is true (and right), if it pleases God.
Yote ni ya kweli (na yanafaa), iwapo yanapendeza Mungu.

ਜਿਨਿ ਸਚੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥
jin sach jaataa so sahj samaavai.
The one who realized God, he remains in intuitive peace and poise.
Yule ambaye aligundua Mungu, anabaki katika amani na utulivu angavu.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਚੇ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਜਾਇ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
gurmukh karnee sachay sayveh saachay jaa-ay samaavani-aa. ||5||
It is the duty of the Guru’s follower to always remember God, and ultimately merge with Him.
Ni jukumu la mfuasi wa Guru kumkumbuka Mungu daima, na mwishowe kuungana naye.

ਸਚੇ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਕੋ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਆ ॥
sachay baajhahu ko avar na doo-aa.
O’ my friends, except the eternal God, there is no one else.
Ee marafiki wangu, isipokuwa Mungu wa milele, hakuna yeyote mwengine.

ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਗਿ ਜਗੁ ਖਪਿ ਖਪਿ ਮੂਆ ॥
doojai laag jag khap khap moo-aa.
Attached to duality, humanity suffers and deteriorate spiritually.
Wakiambatishwa kwa uwili, binadamu wanateseka na kuzorota kiroho.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਏਕੋ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
gurmukh hovai so ayko jaanai ayko sayv sukh paavni-aa. ||6||
The Guru’s follower only loves God and by always remembering Him lives in peace and enjoys bliss.
Mfuasi wa Guru anapenda Mungu tu na kwa kumkumbuka daima anaisha katika amani na kufurahia raha tele.

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
jee-a jant sabh saran tumaaree.
All beings and creatures are under Your Protection.
Viumbe vyote na wanyama wamo chini ya ulinzi wake.

ਆਪੇ ਧਰਿ ਦੇਖਹਿ ਕਚੀ ਪਕੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
aapay Dhar daykheh kachee pakee saaree.
The world is like a chessboard wherein You have placed beings both imperfect and perfect (spiritually elevated), but You look after all.
Dunia ni kama ubao wa chesi ambamo umeweka viumbe pungufu na kamilifu (wameinuliwa kiroho), lakini Wewe unawatunza wote.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
an-din aapay kaar karaa-ay aapay mayl milaavani-aa. ||7||
You always make them do deeds (according Your will), and You Yourself then unite them with You.
Daima unawafanya wafanye vitendo (kulingana na Mapenzi yako), kisha Wewe mwenyewe unawaunganisha nawe.

ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਵੇਖਹਿ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥
tooN aapay mayleh vaykheh hadoor.
O’ God, You stay close at hand and look after all mortals and unite them with Yourself.
Ee Mungu, Wewe unakaa karibu zaidi na kuchunga binadamu wote na kuwaunganisha nawe mwenyewe.

ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
sabh meh aap rahi-aa bharpoor.
You Yourself are totally pervading amongst all.
Wewe mwenyewe unaenea kikamilifu kati ya yote.

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੬॥੭॥
naanak aapay aap vartai gurmukh sojhee paavni-aa. ||8||6||7||
O’ Nanak, God Himself is pervading everywhere; only the Guru’s followers understand this.
Ee Nanak, Mungu mwenyewe anaenea kote; ni wafuasi wa Guru pekee wanaoelewa hii.

ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮੀਠੀ ॥
amrit banee gur kee meethee.
The Guru’s words are like the Ambrosial Nectar that brings love and peace in life.
Maneno ya Guru ni kama Nekta ya Ambrosia inayoleta upendo na amani maishani.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਚਖਿ ਡੀਠੀ ॥
gurmukh virlai kinai chakh deethee.
But only a rare Guru’s followers has relished it and seen the change it brings.
Lakini ni wafuasi nadra wa Guru pekee wanaoyafurahia na kuona mabadiliko yanayoleta.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
antar pargaas mahaa ras peevai dar sachai sabad vajaavani-aa. ||1||
By partaking this supreme elixir, one’s inner self is illuminated, and one feels as if the divine word is being played in God’s court.
Kwa kushiriki dawa hii kuu, nafsi ya ndani ya mtu inaangazwa, na mtu anahisi kana kwamba neno takatifu inachezwa katika mahakama ya Mungu.

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
ha-o vaaree jee-o vaaree gur charnee chit laavani-aa.
I dedicate myself to the one who keeps the mind attuned to the Guru’s word.
Najiweka wakfu kwa yule anayemakinisha akili kwa neno la Guru.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਮਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਚੁਕਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satgur hai amrit sar saachaa man naavai mail chukaavani-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The true Guru is like a pool of nectar. Whoever bathes in this pool (follows the Guru’s teachings) with true devotion, washes off all the dirt of vices.
Guru wa kweli ni kama kidimbwi cha nekta. Yeyote anayeoga katika kidimbwi hiki (kufuata mafundisho ya Guru) kwa ibada halisi, anasafisha uchafu wote wa dhambi.

ਤੇਰਾ ਸਚੇ ਕਿਨੈ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
tayraa sachay kinai ant na paa-i-aa.
O’ eternal God, no one has ever found the limits of Your virtues.
Ee Mungu wa milele, hakuna mtu amewahi kupata vikomo vya fadhila zako.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
gur parsaad kinai virlai chit laa-i-aa.
Through Guru’s grace, only a rare person has fixed his mind on You.
Kupitia neema ya Guru, ni mtu nadra pekee ambaye amedumisha akili yake kwako.

ਤੁਧੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਨ ਰਜਾ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੀ ਭੁਖ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
tuDh saalaahi na rajaa kabahooN sachay naavai kee bhukh laavani-aa. ||2||
O’ God, bless me with so much yearning for Your Name, that I may never feel satiated of praising You.
Ee Mungu, nibariki na hamu zaidi ya Jina lako, ndiposa kamwe nisihisi kutoshelezwa kwa kukusifu Wewe.

ਏਕੋ ਵੇਖਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਬੀਆ ॥
ayko vaykhaa avar na bee-aa.
Now, except God, I see no one else,
Sasa, isipokuwa Mungu, sioni yeyote mwengine,

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆ ॥
gur parsaadee amrit pee-aa.
because by Guru’s Grace, I have partaken of the Ambrosial Nectar of Naam.
Kwa sababu kwa Neema ya Guru, nimeshiriki Nekta ya Ambrosia ya Naam.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਿਖਾ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੂਖਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
gur kai sabad tikhaa nivaaree sehjay sookh samaavani-aa. ||3||
Through the Guru’s word, I have satiated all my desires for the Maya, and now I remain intuitively merged in a state of peace.
Kupitia neno la Guru, nimetosheleza tamaa zangu zote za Maya, na sasa nabaki nimeungana kwa hisia na silika katika hali ya amani.

ਰਤਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਲਰਿ ਤਿਆਗੈ ॥ ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
ratan padarath palar ti-aagai. manmukh anDha doojai bhaa-ay laagai.
A self-conceited blind fool, attached to duality, gives up the priceless Naam for worthless straw (Maya).
Mpumbavu kipofu mwenye majivuno binafsi, aliyeambatishwa kwa uwili, anaacha Naam isiyokadirika ili apate majani yasiyo na thamani (Maya).

ਜੋ ਬੀਜੈ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
jo beejai so-ee fal paa-ay supnai sukh na paavni-aa. ||4||
Whatever (evil) one sows, (the same evil fruit) one reaps, and doesn’t find peace, even in dream.
(Maovu) yoyote ambayo mtu anapanda, mtu anavuna (tunda hilo mbaya), wala hapati amani, hata katika ndoto.

ਅਪਨੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
apnee kirpaa karay so-ee jan paa-ay.
Only that person on whom God shows His mercy obtains priceless Naam.
Ni mtu huyo pekee ambaye Mungu anaonesha huruma yake anapata Naam isiyokadirika.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
gur kaa sabad man vasaa-ay.
Because such a person enshrines the Guru’s word in the mind.
Kwa sababu mtu kama huyo anaweka vizuri neno la Guru akilini.
