ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣਹਿ ॥
thaakur kay sayvak har rang maaneh.
The devotees of God enjoy the Love and Affection of God.
Watawa wa Mungu wanafurahia Upendo na Mahaba ya Mungu.

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਾ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਾਹਰੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
jo kichh thaakur kaa so sayvak kaa sayvak thaakur hee sang jaahar jee-o. ||3||
Whatever belongs to God, in a way belongs to the devotee as well. Because of his association with the Master, the devotee also becomes known in the world.
Chochote ambacho ni cha Mungu, kwa njia fulani pia ni cha mtawa. Kwa sababu ya uhusiano wake na Bwana, mtawaq pia anakuwa maarufu duniani.

ਅਪੁਨੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਜੋ ਪਹਿਰਾਇਆ ॥
apunai thaakur jo pehraa-i-aa.
The person who has beenhonorably recognized by His master,
Mtu ambaye ametambuliwa kwa heshima na bwana wake.

ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਲੇਖਾ ਪੁਛਿ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ॥
bahur na laykhaa puchh bulaa-i-aa.
is not called to answer for his account of past actions.
Haitwi kuhojiwa kwa akaunti ya vitendo vya awali.

ਤਿਸੁ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸੋ ਗਹਿਰ ਗਭੀਰਾ ਗਉਹਰੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੧੮॥੨੫॥
tis sayvak kai naanak kurbaanee so gahir gabheeraa ga-uhar jee-o. ||4||18||25||
O’ Nanak, I dedicate myself to such a devotee, because he is deep and profound, and honorable.
Ee Nanak, najiweka wakfu kwa mtawa kama huyo, kwa sababu yeye ni mkuu na mwenye kina, na anayeheshimika.

ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:
Raag Maajh, na Guru wa Tano:

ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
sabh kichh ghar meh baahar naahee.
All peace and harmony is present in one’s own heart, and nothing is outside.
Amani na maelewano yote yamo moyoni mwa mtu, na hakuna kitu kipo nje.

ਬਾਹਰਿ ਟੋਲੈ ਸੋ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਹੀ ॥
baahar tolai so bharam bhulaahee.
The one who searches for tranquillity outside is deluded by doubt.
Yule anayetafuta utulivu nje amepotoshwa na shaka.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਿਨੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
gur parsaadee jinee antar paa-i-aa so antar baahar suhaylaa jee-o. ||1||
By Guru’s Grace, one who has realized God within, is at peace with himself and others.
Kwa neema ya Guru, yule ambaye amegundua Mungu ndani mwake, yumo katika amani naye mwenyewe na wengine.

ਝਿਮਿ ਝਿਮਿ ਵਰਸੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਧਾਰਾ ॥
jhim jhim varsai amrit Dhaaraa.
Slowly, gently, drop by drop, the stream of nectar of Naam trickles down within.
Polepole, kwa upole, tone baada ya tone, mkondo wa nekta ya Naam unatiririka ndani mwa mtu.

ਮਨੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
man peevai sun sabad beechaaraa.
The mind absorbs it, listening and reflecting on the Guru’s word.
Akili inaufyonza, kusikiza na kutafakari neno la Guru.

ਅਨਦ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਕਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
anad binod karay din raatee sadaa sadaa har kaylaa jee-o. ||2||
Day and Night the mind enjoys bliss and ecstasy and always enjoys the peace arising from union with God.
Mchana na usiku akili inafurahia furaha na raha tele na daima inafurahia amani itokayo kutoka kwa muungano na Mungu.

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ॥
janam janam kaa vichhurhi-aa mili-aa.
After separation of many lifetimes; the mortal obtains union with God.
Baada ya utengano wa nyakati nyingi ya kuishi; binadamu anapata muungano na Mungu.

ਸਾਧ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਸੂਕਾ ਹਰਿਆ ॥
saaDh kirpaa tay sookaa hari-aa.
By the Guru’s grace, dried up mind (devoid of Naam), blossoms again.
Kwa neema ya Guru, akili iliyokauka (haina Naam), inanawiri tena.

ਸੁਮਤਿ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਏ ਮੇਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
sumat paa-ay naam Dhi-aa-ay gurmukh ho-ay maylaa jee-o.||3||
By lovingly meditating on Naam through the Guru’s sublime teaching and grace, union with God is attained.
Kwa kutafakari kwa upendo kuhusu Naam kupitia funzo na neema tukufu ya Guru, muungano na Mungu unapatikana.

ਜਲ ਤਰੰਗੁ ਜਿਉ ਜਲਹਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
jal tarang ji-o jaleh samaa-i-aa.
Just as a wave merges back into water from which it is formed,
Kama vile wimbi linavyoungana tena na maji ambayo liliundwa kutoka kwake,

ਤਿਉ ਜੋਤੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
ti-o jotee sang jot milaa-i-aa.
similarly the soul-light unites with God’s supreme Light,
sawia na hiyo, mwanga-roho unaungana na Mwanga mkuu wa Mungu,

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕਟੇ ਕਿਵਾੜਾ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਹੋਈਐ ਜਉਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੧੯॥੨੬॥
kaho nanak bharam katay kvarh bahurh na ho-ee-ai ja-ulaa jee-o. ||4||19||26||
Says Nanak, The veil of illusion has been cut away, and the mortal shall not go out wandering after Maya any more.
Asema Nanak, pazia ya ndoto imeondolewa, na binadamu hatakwenda akizurura akifuata Maya tena.

ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਤਿਸੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਣਿਆ ॥
tis kurbaanee jin tooN suni-aa.
I dedicate myself to the one who listens to Your praises.
Najiweka wakfu kwa yule anayesikiza sifa zako.

ਤਿਸੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਭਣਿਆ ॥
tis balihaaree jin rasnaa bhani-aa.
I dedicate myself to the one who recites Your praises.
Najiweka wakfu kwa yule anayekariri sifa zako.

ਵਾਰਿ ਵਾਰਿ ਜਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਜੋ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
vaar vaar jaa-ee tis vitahu jo man tan tuDh aaraaDhay jee-o. ||1||
O’ God, I dedicate myself to the one, who lovingly meditates on You.
Ee Mungu, najiweka wakfu kwa yule, anayetafakari kwako kwa upendo.

ਤਿਸੁ ਚਰਣ ਪਖਾਲੀ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਾਲੈ ॥
tis charan pakhaalee jo tayrai maarag chaalai.
(O’ God), I will like to wash the feet of (humbly serve) the person who walks on the path to attain union with You.
(Ee Mungu), ningependa kuosha miguu ya (kutumikia kwa unyenyekevu) mtu anayetembea kwenye njia ya kufikia muungano nawe.

ਨੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਲੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਇਆਲੈ ॥
nain nihaalee tis purakh da-i-aalai.
With my eyes, I long to behold that kind of person.
Kwa macho yangu, natamani kutazama mtu kama huyo.

ਮਨੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਾਜਨ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਲਾਧੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
man dayvaa tis apunay saajan jin gur mil so parabh laaDhay jee-o. ||2||
I surrender myself to such a friend, who by meeting the Guru has realized God.
Najisalimu kwa rafiki kama huyo, ambaye kwa kukutana na Guru amemgundua Mungu.

ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਤੁਮ ਜਾਣੇ ॥
say vadbhaagee jin tum jaanay.
Very fortunate are those who have realized You.
Wamebahatika mno wale ambao wamekugundua Wewe.

ਸਭ ਕੈ ਮਧੇ ਅਲਿਪਤ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੇ ॥
sabh kai maDhay alipat nirbaanay.
He, while living in the midst of all, remains aloof and free from all worldly desires and vices.
Yeye, ambaye akiishi kati ya yote, anabaki amejitenga na huru kutoka tamaa na maovu yote ya kidunia.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਨਿ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਰਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਦੂਤ ਉਨਿ ਸਾਧੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
saaDh kai sang un bha-ojal tari-aa sagal doot un saaDhay jee-o. ||3||
In the company of the saint (Guru), he has crossed over the terrifying worldly ocean, and has conquered all the demons (vices).
Katika uandamano wa mtakatifu (Guru), amevuka bahari ya kidunia inayoogofya, na ameshinda mapepo yote (maovu).

ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥ ਮਾਣੁ ਤਾਣੁ ਤਜਿ ਮੋਹੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ॥
tin kee saran pari-aa man mayraa.maan taan taj moh anDhayraa.
Renouncing its ego, pride, and darkness of ignorance (love of Maya), my mind has sought the shelter of such godly persons.
Ikikataa ubinafsi, kiburi na giza yake ya ujinga (upendo wa Maya, akili yangu imetafuta makao ya watu wacha Mungu kama hao.

ਨਾਮੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੦॥੨੭॥
naam daan deejai naanak ka-o tis parabh agam agaaDhay jee-o. ||4||20||27||
(Nanak requests them) Please bless Nanak with the Gift of the Naam, the Name of the Inaccessible and Unfathomable God.
(Nanak anawaomba) Tafadhali bariki Nanak na tuzo ya Naam, Jina la Mungu asiweza kufikiwa wala asiyefahamika.

ਤੂੰ ਪੇਡੁ ਸਾਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਫੂਲੀ ॥
tooN payd saakh tayree foolee.
O’ God, You are like a big tree, and this world is Your blossoming branches.
Ee Mungu, Wewe ni kama mti mkubwa, na dunia hii ni matawi yako yanayonawiri.

ਤੂੰ ਸੂਖਮੁ ਹੋਆ ਅਸਥੂਲੀ ॥
tooN sookham ho-aa asthoolee.
You are the subtle essence, which has become tangible as this visible world.
Wewe ndiwe kiini kisicho wazi, ambacho kimeweza kugusika kama dunia hii inayoonekana.

ਤੂੰ ਜਲਨਿਧਿ ਤੂੰ ਫੇਨੁ ਬੁਦਬੁਦਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਭਾਲੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
tooN jalniDh tooN fayn budbudaa tuDh bin avar na bhaalee-ai jee-o. ||1||
O’ God, You are like the ocean, and this world is like bubbles and froth arising from it. Except You, I do not see anything else.
Ee Mungu, wewe ni kama bahari, na dunia hii ni kama maji yanayobubujika na povu linaloinuka kutoka kwake. Pasi Wewe, sioni kitu kingine chochote.

ਤੂੰ ਸੂਤੁ ਮਣੀਏ ਭੀ ਤੂੰਹੈ ॥
tooN soot manee-ay bhee tooNhai.
O’ God, this world is like a necklace and You are the thread and beads
Ee Mungu, dunia hii ni kama mkufu na Wewe ni uzi na shanga

ਤੂੰ ਗੰਠੀ ਮੇਰੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਤੂੰਹੈ ॥
tooN ganthee mayr sir tooNhai.
Even the knot at the end is You, and the crown bead is also You.
Hata fundo mwishoni mwake ni Wewe, na shanga ya taji pia ni Wewe.

ਆਦਿ ਮਧਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਦਿਖਾਲੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
aad maDh ant parabh so-ee avar na ko-ay dikhaalee-ai jee-o. ||2||
it is You who is in the beginning, middle and end of the world created by You. I do not see any other except You.
Ni Wewe ambaye upo mwanzoni, katikati na mwishoni mwa dunia iliyoumbwa nawe. Sioni mwengine yeyote ila Wewe.

ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਗੁਣੁ ਸਰਗੁਣੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
tooN nirgun sargun sukh-daata.
O’ God, You are the subtle and You are tangible. You are the Giver of all peace.
Ee Mungu, Wewe ni mtulivu na Wewe unaweza kugusika. Wewe ndiwe Mpaji wa amani yote.

ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ਰਸੀਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
tooN nirbaan rasee-aa rang raataa.
You are detached and yet attached that You enjoy all kinds of joys and relishes.
Wewe umejitenga na ila umejihusisha ya kwamba unafurahia aina zote za furaha na starehe.

ਅਪਣੇ ਕਰਤਬ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਆਪੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਮਾਲੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
apnay kartab aapay jaaneh aapay tuDh samaalee-ai jee-o. ||3||
Only You know Your wonders, and You Yourself sustain Your creation.
Ni Wewe tu unayejua miujiza yako, na Wewe mwenyewe unatunza uumbaji wako.

ਤੂੰ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਫੁਨਿ ਆਪੇ ॥
tooN thaakur sayvak fun aapay.
You are the Master, and then again, You are the humble devotee.
Wewe ndiwe Bwana, na kisha tena, Wewe ndiwe mtawa mnyenyekevu.

ਤੂੰ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪੇ ॥
tooN gupat pargat parabh aapay.
O God, You Yourself are the Manifest and the Unmanifest.
Ee Mungu, Wewe mwenyewe ni Udhihirisho na Isiyodhihirika.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਇਕ ਭੋਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੧॥੨੮॥
naanak daas sadaa gun gaavai ik bhoree nadar nihaalee-ai jee-o. ||4||21||28||
O’ Nanak, this humble devotee of Yours always sings Your praises. Please, just for a moment, bless him with Your Glance of Grace.
Ee Nanak, mtawa huyu wako mnyenyekevu daima anaimba sifa zako. Tafadhali, kwa muda mfupi tu, mbariki na Mtazamo wako wa Neema.
