ਸੁਣਿਐ ਦੂਖ ਪਾਪ ਕਾ ਨਾਸੁ॥੯॥

ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਨ ਕਰਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਦੁਖਾਂ ਤੇਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਸੁਣਿਐ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
suni-ai sat santokh gi-aan.
By listening to Naam, one acquires truthfulness, contentment, and spiritual knowledge.
ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਨ ਨਾਲ ਦਾਨ (ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ), ਸੰਤੋਖ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੁਣਿਐ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਕਾ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
suni-ai athsath kaa isnaan.
By listening to the Divine's praises with loving devotion, one becomes pious, as if they have bathed at all the holy places.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਵਣ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅਠਾਹਠ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਨ੍ਹਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਣਿਐ ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
suni-ai parh parh paavahi maan.
By listening to the Divine’s praises, the devotees earn the same true honor as one receives by reading holy scriptures.
ਜੋ ਸਤਕਾਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਣਿਐ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
suni-ai laagai sahj Dhi-aan.
By listening to Divine wisdom, one instinctively concentrates on Naam.
ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਨ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਦੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਵਿਗਾਸੁ ॥
naanak bhagtaa sadaa vigaas.
O’ Nanak, the devotees of the Divine are forever in a state of bliss.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜਾਉ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੁਣਿਐ ਦੂਖ ਪਾਪ ਕਾ ਨਾਸੁ ॥੧੦॥

ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਨ ਨਾਲ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਦੱਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਸੁਣਿਐ ਸਰਾ ਗੁਣਾ ਕੇ ਗਾਹ ॥
suni-ai saraa gunaa kay gaah.
By listening to the Divine’s praises, one becomes immensely virtuous.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਨ ਨਾਲ (ਸਾਧਾਰਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਬੇਅੰਤ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸੁਣਿਐ ਸੇਖ ਪੀਰ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ॥
suni-ai saykh peer paatisaah.
By listening to the Divine’s praises with loving devotion, one attains spiritual honor like that of social and religious leaders and the emperors.
ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਨ ਨਾਲ (ਸਾਧਾਰਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸ਼ੇਖ ਪੀਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੁਣਿਐ ਅੰਧੇ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਰਾਹੁ ॥
suni-ai anDhay paavahi raahu.
By listening to Naam, even spiritually oblivious people find a way to freedom from vices.
ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਨ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗਿਆਨ-ਹੀਣ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭੀ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਮਾਰਗ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੁਣਿਐ ਹਾਥ ਹੋਵੈ ਅਸਗਾਹੁ ॥
suni-ai haath hovai asgaahu.
By listening to Naam, one comprehends the reality of the world Ocean.
ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਨ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ ਇਸ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਸਮਝ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਵਿਗਾਸੁ ॥
naanak bhagtaa sadaa vigaas.
O’ Nanak, the devotees of Divine are forever in the state of bliss.

ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਨ ਨਾਲ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਮੰਨੇ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
mannay kee gat kahee na jaa-ay.
The state of mind of a true believer in the Divine cannot be described,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਦੱਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਇ ॥
jay ko kahai pichhai pachhutaa-ay.
And if one tries to describe the state of a true believer, they would regret it.
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰੇ ਭੀ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪਿਛੋਂ ਪਛਤਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਹੋਛਾ ਜਤਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ)।
ਕਾਗਦਿ ਕਲਮ ਨ ਲਿਖਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
kaagad kalam na likhanhaar.
There isn't enough paper, or even a pen or a writer, to describe the spiritual state of a true believer's mind.
ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਤੀਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਕਾਗਜ਼ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਲਮ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲਿਖਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ,
ਮੰਨੇ ਕਾ ਬਹਿ ਕਰਨਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
mannay kaa bahi karan veechaar.
even though, some do reflect over it anyway.
(ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਰਲ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਲਾਂਦੇ ਲਾਉਣ ਬਾਬਤ ਵੀਚਾਰ (ਜ਼ਰੂਰ) ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਐਸਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
aisaa naam niranjan ho-ay.
Such blissful is the Naam of the Immaculate Divine,
ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ (ਸੁਖਦਾਈ) ਹੈ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ,
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਇ ॥੧੨॥
jay ko man jaanai man ko-ay. ||12||
but it is understood only if one truly believes in it from the heart.
ਪਰ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲਗਨ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਵੇਖੇ l
ਮੰਨੈ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਮਨਿ ਬੁਧਿ ॥
mannai surat hovai man buDh.
By believing in Naam, one’s mind and intellect become spiritually enlightened.
ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੱਚਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੁਰਤ ਉੱਚੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਗ੍ਰਤ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
ਮੰਨੈ ਸਗਲ ਭਵਣ ਕੀ ਸੁਧਿ ॥
mannai sagal bhavan kee suDh.
By having complete faith in the Divine, one gains consciousness and discerning wisdom.
ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੱਚਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ।)
ਮੰਨੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਨਾ ਖਾਇ ॥
mannai muhi chotaa naa khaa-ay.
By having complete faith in Divine, one is not afflicted by worldly evils.
ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੱਚਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਬਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ,
ਮੰਨੈ ਜਮ ਕੈ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
mannai jam kai saath na jaa-ay.
By having complete faith in the Divine, one does not have to face the demon of vices.
ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੱਚਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ l
ਐਸਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
aisaa naam niranjan ho-ay.

ਪਰ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲਗਨ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਵੇਖੇ
ਮੰਨੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਠਾਕ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
mannai maarag thaak na paa-ay.
A true believer in Divine never faces any obstacles in the spiritual journey.
ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਉਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਾਪਰਦੀ।
ਮੰਨੈ ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
mannai pat si-o pargat jaa-ay.
A true believer in Naam departs from the world with enlightened spiritual state.
ਨਾਮ ਉਤੇ ਨਿਸਚਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਖੱਟ ਕੇ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੰਨੈ ਮਗੁ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਪੰਥੁ ॥
mannai mag na chalai panth.
A true believer in Naam is not misled into sects or ritualistic religious paths.
ਨਾਮ ਉਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਮਕਾਂਡੀ ਧਾਰਮਕ ਰਸਤਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਟੁਰਦਾ।
ਮੰਨੈ ਧਰਮ ਸੇਤੀ ਸਨਬੰਧੁ ॥
mannai Dharam saytee san-banDh.
A true believer in Naam is bound to the Truth.
ਨਾਮ ਉਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਧਰਮ ਨਾਲ (ਸਿੱਧਾ) ਜੋੜ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਐਸਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
aisaa naam niranjan ho-ay.
Such blissful is the Name of the Immaculate Divine,
ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ (ਸੁਖਦਾਈ) ਹੈ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਬੇਦਾਗ ਨਾਮ।

ਪਰ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲਗਨ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਵੇਖੇ
ਮੰਨੈ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮੋਖੁ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
mannai paavahi mokh du-aar.
The true believers in Divine achieve liberation from worldly attachments.
ਨਾਮ ਉਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ‘ਕੂੜ’ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਣ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਮੰਨੈ ਪਰਵਾਰੈ ਸਾਧਾਰੁ ॥
mannai parvaarai saaDhaar.
A true believer makes the senses follow Divine wisdom.
ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਟੇਕ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੰਨੈ ਤਰੈ ਤਾਰੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ॥
mannai tarai taaray gur sikh.
those Guru’s followers are able to save themselves, that follow Divine Wisdom.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੰਨੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਵਹਿ ਨ ਭਿਖ ॥
mannai naanak bhavahi na bhikh.
O’ Nanak, such believers in Naam do not beg for favors from others.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਜੁੜਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧਿਰ ਧਿਰ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ।

ਪੰਚ ਪਰਵਾਣ ਪੰਚ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ॥
panch parvaan panch parDhaan.
Those who truly understand and obey Divine’s command become spiritually enlightened.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਲਗਨ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮੰਨੇ-ਪ੍ਰਮੰਨੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪੰਚੇ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
panchay paavahi dargahi maan.
The enlightened ones are always in bliss.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਪੰਚ ਜਨ ਹੀ ਆਦਰ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪੰਚੇ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਦਰਿ ਰਾਜਾਨੁ ॥
panchay sohahi dar raajaan.
The enlightened ones grace their hearts with kingly Divine wisdom
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਪਂਚ ਜਨ ਹੀ ਸੋਭਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪੰਚਾ ਕਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
panchaa kaa gur ayk Dhi-aan.
The minds of the enlightened ones always remain attuned to the Divine-Guru.
ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਗੁਰ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰਹਿਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਕਰੈ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
jay ko kahai karai veechaar.
No matter how much anyone tries to explain and describe,
ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਕਥਨ ਕਰ ਵੇਖੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਏ,
ਕਰਤੇ ਕੈ ਕਰਣੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੁਮਾਰੁ ॥
kartay kai karnai naahee sumaar.
the creation of the Creator cannot be comprehended.
ਅਕਾਲ-ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਲੇਖਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ
ਧੌਲੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਾ ਪੂਤੁ ॥
Dhoul Dharam da-i-aa kaa poot.
Dharma (righteousness) is the force supporting the universe, not the mythical bull. This Dharma comes from compassion.
ਧਰਮ-ਰੂਪੀ ਬੱਝਵਾਂ ਨਿਯਮ ਹੀ ਬਲਦ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਇਮ ਰੱਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਧਰਮ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ
ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਥਾਪਿ ਰਖਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੂਤਿ ॥

Dharma (righteousness) based on compassion and patience, supports this Creation.
ਇਸ ਧਰਮ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਠਲ੍ਹਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਬੁਝੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ॥
jay ko bujhai hovai sachiaar.
If one understands this concept, then they become fully enlightened.
ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲਵੇ ਤਾਂ, ਉਹ ਸੱਚਾ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਬਣ ਜਾਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਧਵਲੈ ਉਪਰਿ ਕੇਤਾ ਭਾਰੁ ॥
Dhavlai upar kaytaa bhaar.
It is the Law of the Divine that supports the universe. A mythological bull couldn't possibly bear the tremendous weight of the Earth.
(ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ, ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਤਾਂ ਕਰੋ ਕਿ) ਬਲਦ ਉੱਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਕਿਤਨਾ ਕੁ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਭਾਰ ਹੈ l
ਧਰਤੀ ਹੋਰੁ ਪਰੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਹੋਰੁ ॥
Dhartee hor parai hor hor.
There are innumerable planets beyond this planet-earth.
ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਆਲਮ ਹਨ, ਘਨੇਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਘਨੇਰੇ।
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਭਾਰੁ ਤਲੈ ਕਵਣੁ ਜੋਰੁ ॥
tis tay bhaar talai kavan jor.
What power holds them, and supports their weight?
ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੋਝ ਨੂੰ ਹੇਠੋਂ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ?
ਜੀਅ ਜਾਤਿ ਰੰਗਾ ਕੇ ਨਾਵ ॥
jee-a jaat rangaa kay naav.
There are countless species of creatures of various kinds.
(ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ) ਕਈ ਜ਼ਾਤਾਂ ਦੇ, ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਨਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵ ਹਨ।
ਸਭਨਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਵੁੜੀ ਕਲਾਮ ॥
sabhnaa likhi-aa vurhee kalaam.
The ever-flowing pen of Almighty has written the account of all.
ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕ-ਤਾਰ ਚਲਦੀ ਕਲਮ ਨਾਲ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੇ) ਲੇਖਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਏਹੁ ਲੇਖਾ ਲਿਖਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
ayhu laykhaa likh jaanai ko-ay.

ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਲੇਖਾ ਲਿਖਣਾ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ
ਲੇਖਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕੇਤਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
laykhaa likhi-aa kaytaa ho-ay.
even if this account is written, just imagine how big that account will be?
ਲੇਖਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਭੀ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ ਕਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ।
ਕੇਤਾ ਤਾਣੁ ਸੁਆਲਿਹੁ ਰੂਪੁ ॥
kaytaa taan su-aalihu roop.
What is the extent of Divine’s power and the vastness of His beautiful creation?
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਬਲ ਹੈ, ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ,
ਕੇਤੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੌਣੁ ਕੂਤੁ ॥
kaytee daat jaanai koun koot.
And who can estimate the extent of His bounties?
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਕੌਣ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਲਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਕੀਤਾ ਪਸਾਉ ਏਕੋ ਕਵਾਉ ॥
keetaa pasaa-o ayko kavaa-o.
Divine is so powerful that He created the vast expanse of the Universe just with one word of His command,
(ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ (ਇਕ ਸ਼ਬਦ) ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਲਖ ਦਰੀਆਉ ॥
tis tay ho-ay lakh daree-aa-o.
And from that emerged millions of lives and systems of the universe.
ਉਸ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ (ਹੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ) ਲੱਖਾਂ ਦਰੀਆ ਬਣ ਗਏ।
ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਵਣ ਕਹਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
kudrat kavan kahaa veechaar.
Who am I to express my thoughts about the extent of Divine’s creation?
ਮੇਰੀ ਕੀਹ ਤਾਕਤ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ?
ਵਾਰਿਆ ਨ ਜਾਵਾ ਏਕ ਵਾਰ ॥
vaari-aa na jaavaa ayk vaar.
I am so powerless, that I am not even worthy of dedicating myself once for You.
ਮੇਰੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਤੁੱਛ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਇਕ ਵਾਰੀ ਭੀ ਸਦਕੇ ਹੋਣ ਜੋਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ l
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਾਈ ਭਲੀ ਕਾਰ ॥
jo tuDh bhaavai saa-ee bhalee kaar.
O’ Divine, whatever pleases You, is best for us.
ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕੰਮ ਭਲਾ ਹੈ ।
ਤੂ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਮਤਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥੧੬॥
too sadaa salaamat nirankaar. ||16||
O’ the formless Divine, only You are the eternal one.
ਹੇ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ! ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਅਟੱਲ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ l
ਅਸੰਖ ਜਪ ਅਸੰਖ ਭਾਉ ॥
asaNkh jap asaNkh bhaa-o.
O’ Divine, countless people meditate on Your Naam and remember You with Love.
ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਜਨ ਪਾਠ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਸੰਖ ਪੂਜਾ ਅਸੰਖ ਤਪ ਤਾਉ ॥
asaNkh poojaa asaNkh tap taa-o.
Countless people are engaged in Your devotional worship, and countless are doing penance.
ਕਈ ਜੀਵ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਨਗਿਣਤ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਤਪ ਸਾਧ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਸੰਖ ਗਰੰਥ ਮੁਖਿ ਵੇਦ ਪਾਠ ॥
asaNkh garanth mukh vayd paath.
Countless people are reciting the vedas and the holy books.
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਜੀਵ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਠ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਸੰਖ ਜੋਗ ਮਨਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਉਦਾਸ ॥
asaNkh jog man rahahi udaas.
Limitless practice yoga, and they remain detached from the world.
ਜੋਗ ਦੇ ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਉਪਰਾਮ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
