ਜਾ ਕਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਇਆ ਕਰੇਹੀ ॥੨॥
jaa ka-o satgur ma-i-aa karayhee. ||2||
upon whom the true Guru bestows mercy. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ | ॥੨॥
ਅਗਿਆਨ ਭਰਮੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਦੁਖ ਡੇਰਾ ॥
agi-aan bharam binsai dukh dayraa.
That person’s ignorance about the spiritual life vanishes along with his doubt and all the sufferings,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ; ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਉੱਠ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਬਸਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਪੈਰਾ ॥੩॥
jaa kai hirdai baseh gur pairaa. ||3||
within whose heart is the Guru’s teachings. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
saaDhsang rang parabh Dhi-aa-i-aa.
Whosoever has lovingly remembered God in the Guru’s congregation:
ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੪॥
kaho naanak tin pooraa paa-i-aa. ||4||4||
O’ Nanak, say that he has attained union with the perfect God. ||4||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖ- ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪॥

Raag Kaanraa,Fifth Guru:
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਗਤਨ ਹੂੰ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
bhagat bhagtan hooN ban aa-ee.
Only the true devotees can perform the devotional worship of God.
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਭਗਤੀ ਭਗਤ-ਜਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਤਨ ਮਨ ਗਲਤ ਭਏ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਆਪਨ ਲੀਏ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tan man galat bha-ay thaakur si-o aapan lee-ay milaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Their minds and bodies always remain absorbed in the remembrance of the Master-God, and He Himself unites them with Him. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਤਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਗਾਵਨਹਾਰੀ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੀਤ ॥
gaavanhaaree gaavai geet.
The singer sings the songs in praise of God only superficially,
ਗਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਲੋਕਾਈ ਰਿਵਾਜੀ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਹੀ (ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ) ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਤੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਬਸੇ ਜਿਹ ਚੀਤ ॥੧॥
tay uDhray basay jih cheet. ||1||
but only those cross the worldly ocean of vices within whose hearts resides the true love for their Master-God. ||1||
ਪਰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਉਹੀ ਲੰਘਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਪੇਖੇ ਬਿੰਜਨ ਪਰੋਸਨਹਾਰੈ ॥
paykhay binjan parosanhaarai.
The one who serves, just sees the dainty dishes,
ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ (ਖਾਣੇ) ਧਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੇ (ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ) ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਖਾਣੇ ਵੇਖੇ ਹਨ,
ਜਿਹ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਰੈ ॥੨॥
jih bhojan keeno tay tariptaarai. ||2||
whereas only those who eat these dishes are satiated. ||2||
ਪਰ ਰੱਜਦੇ ਉਹੀ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਖਾਣੇ ਖਾਧੇ ॥੨॥
ਅਨਿਕ ਸ੍ਵਾਂਗ ਕਾਛੇ ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ॥
anik savaaNg kaachhay bhaykh-Dhaaree.
Pseudo saints disguise themselves with all sorts of costumes for the sake of worldly wealth,
ਸ੍ਵਾਂਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਮਨ-ਬਾਂਛਤ ਸ੍ਵਾਂਗ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜੈਸੋ ਸਾ ਤੈਸੋ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
jaiso saa taiso daristaaree. ||3||
but their true self comes out to those who know him. ||3||
ਪਰ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਉਹ (ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ) ਹੈ, ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ) ॥੩॥
ਕਹਨ ਕਹਾਵਨ ਸਗਲ ਜੰਜਾਰ ॥
kahan kahaavan sagal janjaar.
Instead of remembering God, mere talking and getting others to talk about Him are all sources of worldly entanglements.
ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਆਖਣੀਆਂ ਅਖਵਾਣੀਆਂ- ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਉੱਦਮ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰ ॥੪॥੫॥
naanak daas sach karnee saar. ||4||5||
O’ Devotee Nanak, the pure deed is to lovingly remember God’s Name. ||4||5||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਤੱਬ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੫॥

ਤੇਰੋ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਨਤ ਉਮਾਹਿਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tayro jan har jas sunat umaahi-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God! Your devotee gets delighted by listening to Your Praises. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ ਉਮਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਨਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਪੇਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਆਹਿਓ ॥੧॥
maneh pargaas paykh parabh kee sobhaa jat kat paykha-o aahi-o. ||1||
My mind is enlightened with divine knowledge upon seeing God’s glory, and wherever I look I visualize Him. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਜਿਧਰ ਕਿਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ) ਮੌਜੂਦ (ਦਿੱਸਦਾ) ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਪਰੈ ਪਰੈ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਅਥਾਹਿਓ ॥੨॥
sabh tay parai parai tay oochaa gahir gambheer athaahi-o. ||2||
God is beyond everything, He is the highest of all, utmost deep like ocean, profound and unfathomable. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ; ਡੂੰਘਾ (ਸਮੁੰਦਰ) ਹੈ, ਵੱਡੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਾਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੨॥
ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਭਗਤਨ ਕਉ ਜਨ ਸਿਉ ਪਰਦਾ ਲਾਹਿਓ ॥੩॥
ot pot mili-o bhagtan ka-o jan si-o pardaa laahi-o. ||3||
He is united with His devotees through and through, and He has removed His veil of secrecy before His humble devotees. ||3||
ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਤਾਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੇਟੇ ਵਿਚ (ਧਾਗਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹਲਾ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਸਮਾਹਿਓ ॥੪॥੬॥
gur parsaad gaavai gun naanak sahj samaaDh samaahi-o. ||4||6||
O’ Nanak, one who sings praises of God through Guru’s grace, imperceptibly remains absorbed in the trance of His spiritual stability. ||4||6||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬॥

ਸੰਤਨ ਪਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਆਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
santan peh aap uDhaaran aa-i-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God Himself comes to reside in the saint’s hearts to liberate the world from vices. ||1||Pause||
(ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਲਈ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਆਪ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਦਰਸਨ ਭੇਟਤ ਹੋਤ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
darsan bhaytat hot puneetaa har har mantar darirh-aa-i-o. ||1||
The people get sanctified by following the Guru’s teachings because he (Guru) enshrines mantra of God’s Name in their hearts. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਜੀਵ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਾਟੇ ਰੋਗ ਭਏ ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਖਾਇਓ ॥੨॥
kaatay rog bha-ay man nirmal har har a-ukhaDh khaa-i-o. ||2||
The ailments of those who consume the healing medicine of God’s Name through the Guru, are cured and their minds become immaculate. ||2||
(ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਵਾਈ (ਲੈ ਕੇ) ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਕੱਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਅਸਥਿਤ ਭਏ ਬਸੇ ਸੁਖ ਥਾਨਾ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਧਾਇਓ ॥੩॥
asthit bha-ay basay sukh thaanaa bahur na kathoo Dhaa-i-o. ||3||
With the medicine of Naam through the Guru, human mind becomes stable, remains in peace and does not wander in the love for materialism. ||3||
(ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਨਾਮ-ਦਵਾਈ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਖਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਅਡੋਲ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ; ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਇਸ ਆਨੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਉਹ) ਮੁੜ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਪਾਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਟਕਦੇ ॥੩॥
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਤਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਲੋਗਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਪਤ ਨ ਮਾਇਓ ॥੪॥੭॥
sant parsaad taray kul logaa naanak lipat na maa-i-o. ||4||7||
By the Guru’s grace and by remembering God, they along with their lineage swim across the world-ocean of vices: O’ Nanak, the worldly attachment doesn’t afflict them. ||4||7||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਨਿਰੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਰਦੇ; ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੁਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਭੀ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ) ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ; ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ ॥੪॥੭॥

Raag Kaanraa,Fifth Guru:
ਬਿਸਰਿ ਗਈ ਸਭ ਤਾ ਤਿ ਪਰਾਈ ॥
bisar ga-ee sabh taat paraa-ee.
I have totally forgotten my habit of being jealous of others,
(ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ) ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਅੰਦਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੜਨ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਆਦਤ ਭੁੱਲ ਗਈ ਹੈ,
ਜਬ ਤੇ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jab tay saaDhsangat mohi paa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
since I have been blessed with the Holy company. ||1||Pause||
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਾ ਕੋ ਬੈਰੀ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥੧॥
naa ko bairee nahee bigaanaa sagal sang ham ka-o ban aa-ee. ||1||
Now no one is my enemy, and no one is a stranger; I get along with everyone. ||1||
(ਹੁਣ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਵੈਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ, ਕੋਈ ਓਪਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ; ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀਨੋ ਸੋ ਭਲ ਮਾਨਿਓ ਏਹ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
jo parabh keeno so bhal maani-o ayh sumat saaDhoo tay paa-ee. ||2||
Whatever God does, I accept that as good for everybody; I have attained this sublime wisdom from the Guru. ||2||
ਹੁਣ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਲਈ) ਭਲਾ ਹੀ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਇਹ ਚੰਗੀ ਅਕਲ ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੈ ਪੇਖਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਗਸਾਈ ॥੩॥੮॥
sabh meh rav rahi-aa parabh aikai paykh paykh naanak bigsaa-ee. ||3||8||
O’ Nanak! I feel one and only one God is pervading all and that is why I am delighted to see them again and again. ||3||8||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ (ਤਾਹੀਏਂ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥੮॥

ਠਾਕੁਰ ਜੀਉ ਤੁਹਾਰੋ ਪਰਨਾ ॥
thaakur jee-o tuhaaro parnaa.
O’ my respected Master-God, I lean only on Your support.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਾਨੁ ਮਹਤੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੈ ਊਪਰਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੀ ਓਟ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੀ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਹੀ ਮਾਣ ਹੈ; ਫ਼ਖ਼ਰ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਓਟ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੀ ਆਸ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰਾ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਲੈ ਧਰਨਾ ॥
tumHree aas bharosaa tumHraa tumraa naam ridai lai Dharnaa.
O’ God, I have my hope and faith in You, and it is Your Name that I have enshrined in my heart.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਆਸ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਹੀ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਤੁਮਰੋ ਬਲੁ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਹਹੁ ਸੋਈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਨਾ ॥੧॥
tumro bal tum sang suhaylay jo jo kahhu so-ee so-ee karnaa. ||1||
I depend on Your power, I feel blessed remembering You, and I can do only what You say. ||1||
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਤਾਣ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਦਇਆ ਮਇਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਉ ਹੋਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਤ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਰਨਾ ॥
tumree da-i-aa ma-i-aa sukh paava-o hohu kirpaal ta bha-ojal tarnaa.
It is only by Your mercy that I attain inner peace, and if You become kind, only then I can cross over the worldly ocean of vices.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ, ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਅਭੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਓ ਸਿਰੁ ਡਾਰਿਓ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤ ਚਰਨਾ ॥੨॥੯॥
abhai daan naam har paa-i-o sir daari-o naanak sant charnaa. ||2||9||
O’ Nanak, I have realized the Name of God, the bestwer of the gift of fearlessness, and I have taken refuge with the Guru’s word. ||2||9||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਨਿਰਭੈਤਾ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਮੈਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੯॥
