ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਜੀ ਖੋਈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
andrahu durmat doojee kho-ee so jan har liv laagaa.
One who eliminates evil-mindedness and the love for worldly wealth and power from within, focuses his mind on God.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਅਤੇ ਦ੍ਵੈਤ ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕੀਨੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਿਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥
jin ka-o kirpaa keenee mayrai su-aamee tin an-din har gun gaa-ay.
Those upon whom my Master-God bestowed grace, start singing His praises at all the time.
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਣੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਭੀਨੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥੨॥
sun man bheenay sahj subhaa-ay. ||2||
O’ my mind, one gets imbued with spiritual equipoise and love for God by listening to His praises. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ) ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥
jug meh raam naam nistaaraa.
The world ocean of vices can only be crossed over by remembering God’s Name with loving devotion.
ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ) ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਉਪਜੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
gur tay upjai sabad veechaaraa.
One who becomes spiritually rejuvenated by the Guru’s teachings gets the ability to reflect on the divine word.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਨਵਾਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
gur sabad veechaaraa raam naam pi-aaraa jis kirpaa karay so paa-ay.
God’s Name becomes pleasing to the one who reflects on the Guru’s word; only he receives this gift on whom God bestows grace.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵੀਚਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ, ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਹਜੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
sehjay gun gaavai din raatee kilvikh sabh gavaa-ay.
Then, in a state of spiritual equipoise, he always sings the praises of God and gets rid of all his sins.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਹਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥
sabh ko tayraa too sabhnaa kaa ha-o tayraa too hamaaraa.
O’ God, everybody belongs to You and You are the Master of all; I am Yours and You are mine.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸਾਜਨ ਆਇ ਵੁਠੇ ਘਰ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
saajan aa-ay vuthay ghar maahee.
Those who experience the dear God dwelling in their heart,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਜਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਆ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਹੀ ॥
har gun gaavahi taripat aghaahee.
keep singing praises of God and feel completely satiated.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਸਦਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਭੂਖ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਏ ॥
har gun gaa-ay sadaa tariptaasee fir bhookh na laagai aa-ay.
One who becomes satiated for worldly riches and power by singing praises of God, never feels yearning for Maya again.
ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਗਾ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਆ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੰਬੜਦੀ।
ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਪੂਜ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
dah dis pooj hovai har jan kee jo har har naam Dhi-aa-ay.
One who always lovingly remembers God\'s Name, is acclaimed everywhere.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜੋੜਿ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
naanak har aapay jorh vichhorhay har bin ko doojaa naahee.
O' Nanak, God Himself unites a person with worldly riches and power and separates him from Himself: no one else but God can do this.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਐਸੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਜਨ ਆਇ ਵੁਠੇ ਘਰ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੪॥੧॥
saajan aa-ay vuthay ghar maahee. ||4||1||
One on whom God bestows grace, experiences the dear God dwelling in his heart. ||4||1||
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਸੱਜਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਆ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੧॥
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਰਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
bhagat janaa kee har jee-o raakhai jug jug rakh-daa aa-i-aa raam.
God saves the honor of His devotees and He has been protecting them throughout the ages.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਭਗਤੁ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
so bhagat jo gurmukh hovai ha-umai sabad jalaa-i-aa raam.
That person alone is a true devotee of God who follows the Guru\'s teachings, and burns away his ego through the Guru\'s word.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਇਆ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
ha-umai sabad jalaa-i-aa mayray har bhaa-i-aa jis dee saachee banee.
Yes, one who burns his ego through Guru’s word, becomes pleasing to my God whose divine word is eternal.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਾੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥
sachee bhagat karahi din raatee gurmukh aakh vakhaanee.
The Guru’s followers always perform devotional worship of God; they recite the divine words of His praises and inspire others to do the same.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਚਾਲ ਸਚੀ ਅਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
bhagtaa kee chaal sachee at nirmal naam sachaa man bhaa-i-aa.
The way of life of the devotees of God is true and immaculate and God’s Name is pleasing to their mind.
ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤੀ ਸਦਾ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਬੜੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਜਿਨੀ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
naanak bhagat soheh dar saachai jinee sacho sach kamaa-i-aa. ||1||
O’ Nanak, the devotees, who have lived a truthful and honest life, look beauteous in God’s presence. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਭਗਤ ਜੋ ਨਿਰੋਲ ਸੱਚ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਭਦੇ ਹਨ, ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਭਗਤ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
har bhagtaa kee jaat pat hai bhagat har kai naam samaanay raam.
God is the high status and honor for the devotees; the devotees remain absorbed in God’s Name.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਲਈ (ਉੱਚੀ) ਜਾਤਿ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੈ। ਭਗਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਵਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਣ ਅਵਗਣ ਪਛਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
har bhagat karahi vichahu aap gavaaveh jin gun avgan pachhaanay raam.
Those who have identified their virtues and vices, eradicate their ego from within and lovingly perform devotional worship of God.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੇ ਅਉਗਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਰਖ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਗੁਣ ਅਉਗਣ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ਭੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਮੀਠੀ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
gun a-ugan pachhaanai har naam vakhaanai bhai bhagat meethee laagee.
Yes, one who identifies his own virtues and vices, keeps uttering God\'s Name; the revered fear and devotional worship of God seems sweet to him.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਅਉਗਣ ਦੀ ਪਰਖ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭੈ ਭਗਤੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥
an-din bhagat karahi din raatee ghar hee meh bairaagee.
Those who always lovingly remember and worship God, remain detached from the love from worldly riches and power even while living as a householder.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਭਗਤੀ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਵੇਖਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
bhagtee raatay sadaa man nirmal har jee-o vaykheh sadaa naalay.
Those who always remain imbued with God’s devotion, their mind becomes immaculate and they always experience revered God with them.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੇ ॥੨॥
naanak say bhagat har kai dar saachay an-din naam samHaalay. ||2||
O’ Nanak, by always enshrining God’s Name in their hearts, such devotees are approved in God’s presence. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਭਗਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸੁਰਖ਼-ਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਰਾਮ ॥
manmukh bhagat karahi bin satgur vin satgur bhagat na ho-ee raam.
The self-willed persons worship God without following the true Guru’s teachings, but devotional worship is not possible without the true Guru’s teachings.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਆਪਣੇ ਵਲੋਂ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਹੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੋਗਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ਰਾਮ ॥
ha-umai maa-i-aa rog vi-aapay mar janmeh dukh ho-ee raam.
They remain afflicted with the ailments of ego and love for worldly riches; they endure the pain of going through the cycle of birth and death.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਵਿਚ, ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ; ਜੰਮਣ-ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਉਹ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਉਠਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਰਜ ਵਿਗੋਈ ਵਿਣੁ ਗੁਰ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
mar janmeh dukh ho-ee doojai bhaa-ay paraj vigo-ee vin gur tat na jaani-aa.
The world is getting ruined in the love of worldly wealth and power, it endures the pain of repeated births and deaths; no one understands the essence of reality without the Guru.
ਜੰਮਣ-ਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਉਠਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ , ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ।
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਿਹੂਣਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਭਰਮਿਆ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਨਿਆ ॥
bhagat vihoonaa sabh jag bharmi-aa ant ga-i-aa pachhutaani-aa.
Without devotional worship, the entire world is deluded and gone astray, and in the end departs from here repenting.
ਭਗਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਹੀ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਆਖ਼ਰ ਹੱਥ ਮਲਦਾ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਤੋਂ) ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
