ਗਣਤ ਗਣਾਵਣਿ ਆਈਆ ਸੂਹਾ ਵੇਸੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥
ganat ganaavan aa-ee-aa soohaa vays vikaar.
All of them have come to be counted as his true beloveds but their holy looking red robes are useless.
Wote wamekuja kuhesabika kama wapendwa wake wa kweli lakini joho zao nyekundu zikaazo takatifu ni bure.

ਪਾਖੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਖੋਟਾ ਪਾਜੁ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥੧॥
pakhand paraym na paa-ee-ai khotaa paaj khu-aar. ||1||
They cannot win the love of God by hypocrisy and false show ultimately ruins them.
Hawawezi kushinda upendo wa Mungu kwa unafiki na maonyesho ya uongo mwishowe yanawaangamiza.

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਇਉ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੈ ਨਾਰਿ ॥
har jee-o i-o pir raavai naar.
“O’ God, a (person) soul- bride can enjoy Your company only if that person is able to please You.
“Ee Mungu, roho kama bi harusi (mtu) anaweza kufurahia kukaa nawe iwapo tu mtu huyo ataweza kukufurahisha.

ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਨਿ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਅਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੈਹਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tuDh bhaavan sohaaganee apnee kirpaa laihi savaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
But only those fortunate ones can please You whom You bless by Your Grace.
Lakini haowenye bahati mno wanaweza kukufurahisha, ambao unabariki kwa neema yako.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੀਆ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
gur sabdee seegaaree-aa tan man pir kai paas.
The true bride is bedecked with the ornaments of the Guru’s word; her body and mind is dedicated to the service of her Spouse(God).
Bi harusi wa kweli amepambwa na mapambo ya neno la Guru; mwili wake na akili imewekwa wakfu kwa huduma ya mwenzie wa ndoa (Mungu).

ਦੁਇ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਖੜੀ ਤਕੈ ਸਚੁ ਕਹੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
du-ay kar jorh kharhee takai sach kahai ardaas.
With folded hands in utter humility, she awaits God’s command and offer true prayers.
Kwa mikono iliyokunjwa kwa unyenyekevu kamili, anangoja amri ya Mungu na kuwasilisha maombi ya kweli.

ਲਾਲਿ ਰਤੀ ਸਚ ਭੈ ਵਸੀ ਭਾਇ ਰਤੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੨॥
laal ratee sach bhai vasee bhaa-ay ratee rang raas. ||2||
The true bride is the one who remains totally immersed in the love of God and always remains absorbed in the truth and revered fear of God.
Bi harusi wa kweli ni yule anayebaki amezama kabisa katika upendo wa Mungu na daima anabaki katika ukweli na uoga kwa heshima ya Mungu.

ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਕੀ ਚੇਰੀ ਕਾਂਢੀਐ ਲਾਲੀ ਮਾਨੈ ਨਾਉ ॥
pari-a kee chayree kaaNdhee-ai laalee maanai naa-o.
The devotee who is devoted to God’s name is known as His hand-maid.
Mfuasi ambaye amejitolea kwa jina la Mungu anajulikana kama mjakazi wake.

ਸਾਚੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਤੁਟਈ ਸਾਚੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਉ ॥
saachee pareet na tut-ee saachay mayl milaa-o.
Her true love never ends; because of her true love, she always remains united with the eternal (Spouse).
Upendo wake wa kweli kamwe hauishi; kwa sababu ya upendo wake wa kweli, daima anabaki amejiunga na (mwenzie wa ndoa) wa milele.

ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਵੇਧਿਆ ਹਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥੩॥
sabad ratee man vayDhi-aa ha-o sad balihaarai jaa-o. ||3||
I dedicate myself to that soul-bride whose mind is always imbued in the love of God through the Guru’s Word.
Najiweka wakfu kwa huyo roho kama bi harusi ambaye akili yake daima imejawa na upendo wa Mungu kupitia Neno la Guru.

ਸਾ ਧਨ ਰੰਡ ਨ ਬੈਸਈ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
saa Dhan rand na bais-ee jay satgur maahi samaa-ay.
That soul-bride,who fully merges in the true Guru (faithfully follows the Guru’s teachings), is never forsaken by God.
Roho huyo kama bi harusi, ambaye anaunganishwa kikamilifu na Guru wa kweli (anafuata mafundisho ya Guru kwa uaminifu), kamwe haachwi na Mungu.

ਪਿਰੁ ਰੀਸਾਲੂ ਨਉਤਨੋ ਸਾਚਉ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
pir reesaaloo na-otano saacha-o marai na jaa-ay.
The ever-youthful, always loving and ever existing God is neither born,nor dies.
Mungu aliye na ujana wa milele, ambaye daima anatupenda na anayedumu milele hakuzaliwa wala hafi.

ਨਿਤ ਰਵੈ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਸਾਚੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੪॥
nit ravai sohaaganee saachee nadar rajaa-ay. ||4||
Such a wedded bride (the united soul) who has been bestowed with God’s true glance of grace, always enjoy His blissful company.
Bi harusi aliyefunga ndoa kama huyo (roho iliyounganishwa) ambaye ametawazwa mtazamo wa kweli wa neema wa Mungu, daima anafurahia urafiki wenye furaha tele.

ਸਾਚੁ ਧੜੀ ਧਨ ਮਾਡੀਐ ਕਾਪੜੁ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥
saach Dharhee Dhan maadee-ai kaaparh paraym seegaar.
She bedecks her tresses with the plaits of truth. She wears the ornaments and dresses of God,s love.
Anapamba nywele yake na msuko wa ukweli. Anavaa mapambo na rinda za upendo wa Mungu.

ਚੰਦਨੁ ਚੀਤਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਦਸਵਾ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
chandan cheet vasaa-i-aa mandar dasvaa du-aar.
She applies the perfume of enshrining God in the mind, and her temple is the inner conscious mind (where she experiences the glimpse of God).
Anapaka marashi ya kuweka vizuri Mungu akilini, na hekalu yake ni fahamu ya ndani ya akili (ambapo anapata kuona Mungu).

ਦੀਪਕੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਿਗਾਸਿਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਰ ਹਾਰੁ ॥੫॥
deepak sabad vigaasi-aa raam naam ur haar. ||5||
There she lights the lamp of Guru’s word (by making Guru’s advice as her guide) and wears the necklace of God’s Name.
Pale anawasha taa ya neno la Guru (kwa kufanya ushauri wa Guru kuwa mwelekezi wake) na kuvaa mkufu wa Jina la Mungu.

ਨਾਰੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਮਣੀ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
naaree andar sohnee mastak manee pi-aar.
The true devotee (bride soul) bedecks her forehead with the jewel of God’s love and looks the most beautiful among women.
Mfuasi wa kweli (roho kama bi harusi) anapamba paji lake na johari ya upendo wa Mungu na kukaa mrembo zaidi kati ya wanawake.

ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
sobhaa surat suhaavanee saachai paraym apaar.
Her glory is that she cherishes in her mind true love for the infinite God.
Utukufu wake ni kwamba anathamini akilini mwake upendo wa kweli kwa Mungu asiye na mwisho.

ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੬॥
bin pir purakh na jaan-ee saachay gur kai hayt pi-aar. ||6||
Being guided by love and the guidance of the Guru,she knows none other than her beloved Spouse(God).
Akielekezwa na upendo na mwongozo wa Guru, hajui mwengine ila mwenzie wa ndoa mpendwa (Mungu).

ਨਿਸਿ ਅੰਧਿਆਰੀ ਸੁਤੀਏ ਕਿਉ ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
nis anDhi-aaree sutee-ay ki-o pir bin rain vihaa-ay.
Sleeping in dark night (of ignorance),how can you pass your night (oflife) without the company of your Spouse(God)?
Ukilala katika usiku wa giza (ya ujinga), utapitishaje usiku wako (wa maisha) bila hudhurio ya mwenzio wa ndoa (Mungu)?

ਅੰਕੁ ਜਲਉ ਤਨੁ ਜਾਲੀਅਉ ਮਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਜਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
ank jala-o tan jaalee-a-o man Dhan jal bal jaa-ay.
May that body burn limb by limb, may also burn the mind and wealth,
Naomba mwili huo uchomeke kiungo baada ya kiungo, naomba pia akili na mali yachomeke.

ਜਾ ਧਨ ਕੰਤਿ ਨ ਰਾਵੀਆ ਤਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੭॥
jaa Dhan kant na raavee-aa taa birthaa joban jaa-ay. ||7||
If a bride has not enjoyed the bliss of her Groom’s company, her youth goes waste.
Iwapo bi harusi hajafurahia furaha tele ya kukaa na bwana harusi wake, ujana wake ni bure.

ਸੇਜੈ ਕੰਤ ਮਹੇਲੜੀ ਸੂਤੀ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
sayjai kant mahaylrhee sootee boojh na paa-ay.
The ignorant bride is unaware that God is always with her but she does not recognise Him.
Bi harusi mjinga hajui ya kwamba Mungu daima yupo naye lakini hamtambui.

ਹਉ ਸੁਤੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਜਾਗਣਾ ਕਿਸ ਕਉ ਪੂਛਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
ha-o sutee pir jaagnaa kis ka-o poochha-o jaa-ay.
Me the bride is lost (sleep) in worldly comforts while the groom (God) is awake.To whom may I go and ask for guidance?
Mimi bi harusi nimepotea (usingizi) katika starehe za kidunia wakati bwana harusi (Mungu) amaemka. Nitaenda kwa nani kuulizia mwongozo?

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲੀ ਭੈ ਵਸੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਸਖਾਇ ॥੮॥੨॥
satgur maylee bhai vasee naanak paraym sakhaa-ay. ||8||2||
O’ Nanak, only when the true Guru unite the soul bride with (God), she learn to live in His fear and loving companionship.
Ee Nanak, ni wakati tu ambao Guru wa kweli anaunganisha roho kama bi harusi na (Mungu), anajifunza kuishi katika uoga wake na urafiki wa upendo.

ਆਪੇ ਗੁਣ ਆਪੇ ਕਥੈ ਆਪੇ ਸੁਣਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
aapay gun aapay kathai aapay sun veechaar.
O’ God, You Yourself has all the virtues and You Yourself describe those and hearing those You Yourself ponders over them.
Ee Mungu, Wewe mwenyewe una fadhila zote na Wewe mwenyewe unazieleza na baada ya kuzisikia Wewe mwenyewe unatafakari kuzihusu.

ਆਪੇ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਰਖਿ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਮੋਲੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
aapay ratan parakh tooN aapay mol apaar.
O’ God, You Yourself are the Jewel (of your Naam), Yourself it’s assayer and Yourself are its infinite value.
Ee Mungu, Wewe mwenyewe ni johari (ya Naam yako), Mwenyewe mwasii yake na Mwenyewe thamana yake isiyokadirika.

ਸਾਚਉ ਮਾਨੁ ਮਹਤੁ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
saacha-o maan mahat tooN aapay dayvanhaar. ||1||
You Yourself are the everlasting glory and honor, and You Yourself are the giver (of honor to Your creatures).
Wewe mwenyewe ni utukufu na heshima ya milele, na Wewe mwenyewe ni mtoaji (wa heshima kwa viumbe vyako).

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥
har jee-o tooN kartaa kartaar.
“O’ God, You are the creator and maker of everything.
“Ee Mungu, Wewe ni Muumba na mtengenezaji wa kila kitu.

ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੁ ਤੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਆਚਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ji-o bhaavai ti-o raakh tooN har naam milai aachaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Save me as it pleases You.(My prayer is that) I may be blessed with the lifestyle of devotion to Your Name.
Nikoe inavyokupendeza. (Ombi langu ni kwamba) niweze kubarikiwa na mtindo wa maisha wa kujitolea kwa Jina lako.

ਆਪੇ ਹੀਰਾ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਆਪੇ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਜੀਠ ॥
aapay heeraa nirmalaa aapay rang majeeth.
You Yourself is pure diamond and You Yourself is the long lasting love, like the fast madder dye.
Wewe mwenyewe ni almasi safi na Wewe mwenyewe ni upendo unaodumu muda mrefu, kama rangi ya mmea wa madder.

ਆਪੇ ਮੋਤੀ ਊਜਲੋ ਆਪੇ ਭਗਤ ਬਸੀਠੁ ॥
aapay motee oojlo aapay bhagat baseeth.
You Yourself is the shining pearl and Yourself is the mediator between the devotee and Yourself.
Wewe mwenyewe ni lulu inayong’aa na Mwenyewe ni mpatanishi kati ya mfuasi na Wewe mwenyewe.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹਣਾ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਡੀਠੁ ਅਡੀਠੁ ॥੨॥
gur kai sabad salaahnaa ghat ghat deeth adeeth. ||2||
Through the Guru’s word, we should praise such a God who is pervading both visibly and invisibly in all hearts.
Kupitia neno la Guru, tunafaa kusifu Mungu kama huyo ambaye anaenea kwa njia inayoonekana na isiyoonekana katika mioyo yote.

ਆਪੇ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥਾ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਰੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
aapay saagar bohithaa aapay paar apaar.
You Yourself are the ocean (world) and You Yourselfthe ship:You Yourself are this shore and the one beyond.
Wewe mwenyewe ni bahari (dunia) na Wewe mwenyewe ni meli; Wewe mwenyewe ni pwani hii na katika ng’ambo ya pili.

ਸਾਚੀ ਵਾਟ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਤੂੰ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਘਾਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
saachee vaat sujaan tooN sabad laghaavanhaar.
You Yourself are the true path and You are the wise guide to ferry us across through the Guru’s word.
Wewe mwenyewe ni njia ya kweli na Wewe ni mwelekezi mwenye hekima anayetuvukisha kupitia neno la Guru.

ਨਿਡਰਿਆ ਡਰੁ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਬਾਝੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
nidri-aa dar jaanee-ai baajh guroo gubaar. ||3||
The fear of this worldly ocean is for those who are not afraid of God; without (the Guru’s guidance),they live in pitch darkness (of ignorance).
Uoga wa bahari ya kidunia ni ya wale ambao hawaogopi Mungu; bila (mwongozo wa Guru), wanaishi katika giza totoro (ya ujinga).

ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਦੇਖੀਐ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੇਤੀ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
asthir kartaa daykhee-ai hor kaytee aavai jaa-ay.
The Creator alone is seen to be Eternal; all others come and go.
Muumba mwenyewe anaonekana kuwa wa milele; wote wengine wanakuja na kuenda.

ਆਪੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਏਕੁ ਤੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਬੰਧੀ ਧੰਧੈ ਪਾਇ ॥
aapay nirmal ayk tooN hor banDhee DhanDhai paa-ay.
“O’ God,You Yourself are the only one who is Immaculate (free from worldly attachments),all others are bound up in worldly tasks.
“Ee Mungu, Wewe ni yule pekee ambaye ni safi (huru kutoka viambatisho vya kidunia), wote wengine wamefungwa na kazi za kidunia.

ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੪॥
gur raakhay say ubray saachay si-o liv laa-ay. ||4||
They whom the Guru has saved (from worldly affairs) have been emancipated by cherishing love for the Eternal (God).
Wale ambao Guru ameokoa (kutoka shughuli za kidunia) wamekombolewa kwa upendo wa kuthamini wa (Mungu) wa milele.
