ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
Mungu Mmoja wa milele, anayegunduliwa kwa neema ya Guru wa kweli:

ਜੌ ਰਾਜੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਤ ਕਵਨ ਬਡਾਈ ॥
jou raaj deh ta kavan badaa-ee.
O’ God, if You bestow an empire on me, then what glory would be in it for me?
Ee Mungu, iwapo utawaze milki kwangu, basi kutakuwa na utukufu gani ndani mwake kwangu?

ਜੌ ਭੀਖ ਮੰਗਾਵਹਿ ਤ ਕਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
jou bheekh mangaaveh ta ki-aa ghat jaa-ee. ||1||
If You made me beg for living, what would it take away from me? ||1||
Iwapo unifanye niombe ili nipate riziki, kufanya hivyo kutachukua nini kutoka kwangu?

ਤੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੁ ॥
tooN har bhaj man mayray pad nirbaan.
O’ my mind, remember God, you would obtain the desire-free state of mind,
Ee akili yangu, kumbuka Mungu, utapata hali ya kiakili isiyo na hamu zozote,

ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਵਨ ਜਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bahur na ho-ay tayraa aavan jaan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and after that the cycle of birth and death would end fo you. ||1||Pause||
na baada ya hayo mzunguko wa kuzaliwa na kufa utakwisha kwako. ||1||Sitisha||

ਸਭ ਤੈ ਉਪਾਈ ਭਰਮ ਭੁਲਾਈ ॥
sabh tai upaa-ee bharam bhulaa-ee.
O’ God, it is You who has created this entire universe and has strayed it in illusion.
Ee Mungu, ni Wewe ambaye umeumba ulimwengu huu mzima na umeupotosha katika njozi.

ਜਿਸ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੨॥
jis tooN dayveh tiseh bujhaa-ee. ||2||
But only he understands this mystery whom You give the right intellect. ||2||
Lakini yeye pekee anaelewa fumbo hili ambaye unampa Wewe uwekevu sahihi.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਸਹਸਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
satgur milai ta sahsaa jaa-ee.
If one meets the true Guru, then one’s anxiety is removed.
Iwapo mtu akutane na Guru wa kweli, basi wasiwasi wa mtu huyo unaondolewa.

ਕਿਸੁ ਹਉ ਪੂਜਉ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਈ ॥੩॥
kis ha-o pooja-o doojaa nadar na aa-ee. ||3||
Who else may I worship? except God, I can see no other. ||3||
Ninaweza kumuabudu nani mwengine? Isipokuwa Mungu, siwezi kuona yeyote mwengine.

ਏਕੈ ਪਾਥਰ ਕੀਜੈ ਭਾਉ ॥
aykai paathar keejai bhaa-o.
How it is that one stone is lovingly decorated and worshipedas a god,
Inakuwaje kwakmba jiwe moja limepambwa kwa upendo na kuabudiwa kama mungu,

ਦੂਜੈ ਪਾਥਰ ਧਰੀਐ ਪਾਉ ॥
doojai paathar Dharee-ai paa-o.
while another stone is walked upon.
Wakati jiwe lingine linatembelewa juu.

ਜੇ ਓਹੁ ਦੇਉ ਤ ਓਹੁ ਭੀ ਦੇਵਾ ॥
jay oh day-o ta oh bhee dayvaa.
If one stone is a god, then the other stone must also be a god.
Iwapo jiwe moja ni mungu, basi mawe yote mengine lazima yawe mungu.

ਕਹਿ ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੪॥੧॥
kahi naamday-o ham har kee sayvaa. ||4||1||
Namdev says, I perform the devotional worship of God alone.||4||1||
Namdev anasema, nafanya ibada ya ujitoaji ya Mungu peke yake.

ਮਲੈ ਨ ਲਾਛੈ ਪਾਰ ਮਲੋ ਪਰਮਲੀਓ ਬੈਠੋ ਰੀ ਆਈ ॥
malai na laachhai paar malo paramlee-o baitho ree aa-ee.
O’ sister, God is immaculate, He is beyond the touch of any kind of dirt; He has permeated in all beings like the fragrance of flowers.
Ee dada, Mungu ni safi, Yeye amezidi mguso wa aina yoyote ya uchafu; Yeye amepenyeza katika viumbe vyote kama manukato ya maua.

ਆਵਤ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪੇਖਿਓ ਕਵਨੈ ਜਾਣੈ ਰੀ ਬਾਈ ॥੧॥
aavat kinai na paykhi-o kavnai jaanai ree baa-ee. ||1||
O’ sister, none has seen Him taking birth, no one knows how He looks. ||1||
Ee dada, hakuna ambaye amemuona Yeye akizaliwa, hakuna mtu anajua anavyokaa.

ਕਉਣੁ ਕਹੈ ਕਿਣਿ ਬੂਝੀਐ ਰਮਈਆ ਆਕੁਲੁ ਰੀ ਬਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ka-un kahai kin boojhee-ai rama-ee-aa aakul ree baa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ sister, who can describe Him? Who can understand Him? The all-pervading God has no ancestors. ||1||Pause||
Ee dada, nani amaweza kumueleza Yeye? Nani anaweza kumuelewa Yeye? Mungu anayeenea kote hana wahenga. ||1||Sitisha||

ਜਿਉ ਆਕਾਸੈ ਪੰਖੀਅਲੋ ਖੋਜੁ ਨਿਰਖਿਓ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
ji-o aakaasai pankhee-alo khoj nirkhi-o na jaa-ee.
Just as the path of a bird’s flight across the sky cannot be seen,
Kama vile njia ya kupepea kwa ndege angani haiwezi kuonekana,

ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਮਾਝੈ ਮਾਛਲੋ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪੇਖਣੋ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
ji-o jal maajhai maachhlo maarag paykh-no na jaa-ee. ||2||
and the path of a fish through the water cannot be seen. ||2||
na njia ya samaki kwenye maji haiwezi kuonekana.

ਜਿਉ ਆਕਾਸੈ ਘੜੂਅਲੋ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭਰਿਆ ॥
ji-o aakaasai gharhoo-alo marig tarisnaa bhari-aa.
Just as mirage appears as water in the open space.
Kama vile mazigazi yanaonekana kama maji mwenye mahali wazi.

ਨਾਮੇ ਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਬੀਠਲੋ ਜਿਨਿ ਤੀਨੈ ਜਰਿਆ ॥੩॥੨॥
naamay chay su-aamee beethlo jin teenai jari-aa. ||3||2||
similarly is the Master of Namdev, who supports and invisibly pervades all the three worlds, (the earth, the sky, and the netherworld).||3||2||
ndivyo alivyo Bwana wa Namdev, anayetegemeza na kuenea katika dunia zote tatu kwa njia isiyoonekana, (dunia, anga na maeneo ya chini ya dunia).

ਦੂਧੁ ਤ ਬਛਰੈ ਥਨਹੁ ਬਿਟਾਰਿਓ ॥
dooDh ta bachhrai thanhu bitaari-o.
The calf has already tasted the milk in the teats.
Ndama amekwisha tayari kuonja maziwa kwenye matiti.

ਫੂਲੁ ਭਵਰਿ ਜਲੁ ਮੀਨਿ ਬਿਗਾਰਿਓ ॥੧॥
fool bhavar jal meen bigaari-o. ||1||
The bumble bee has ruined the flower and fish has polluted the water. ||1||
Nyuki bambi ameharibu ua na samaki amechafua maji.

ਮਾਈ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਹਾ ਲੈ ਚਰਾਵਉ ॥
maa-ee gobind poojaa kahaa lai charaava-o.
O’ my mother, where shall I find anything worth offering for God’s worship?
Ee mama yangu, nitapata wapi kitu chochote kinachostahili kuwasilishwa kwa ibada ya Mungu?

ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਫੂਲੁ ਅਨੂਪੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
avar na fool anoop na paava-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I cannot find any other flowers worthy of God; does it mean, that I would never realize that God of unparalleled beauty? ||1||Pause||
Siwezi kupata maua mengine yanayofaa Mungu; je, inamaanisha, kwamba kamwe sitawahi kugundua Mungu huyo mwenye uzuri usioweza kulinganishwa? ||1||Sitisha||

ਮੈਲਾਗਰ ਬੇਰ੍ਹੇ ਹੈ ਭੁਇਅੰਗਾ ॥
mailaagar bayrHay hai bhu-i-angaa.
The snakes encircle the sandalwood trees.
Nyoka wanazunguka miti ya misandali.

ਬਿਖੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਬਸਹਿ ਇਕ ਸੰਗਾ ॥੨॥
bikh amrit baseh ik sangaa. ||2||
Poison and nectar exist together (in the the ocean). ||2||
Sumu na nekta zipo pamoja (katika bahari).

ਧੂਪ ਦੀਪ ਨਈਬੇਦਹਿ ਬਾਸਾ ॥
Dhoop deep na-eebaydeh baasaa.
With these incense, lamps, offerings of food and fragrant flowers,
Kwa hii ubani, taa, matoleo ya chakula na maua yenye harufu nzuri,

ਕੈਸੇ ਪੂਜ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੩॥
kaisay pooj karahi tayree daasaa. ||3||
O’ my God, how can Your devotee worship You with these impure things. ||3||
Ee Mungu wangu, mtawa wako anawezaje kukuabudu kwa vitu hivi najisi.

ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਅਰਪਉ ਪੂਜ ਚਰਾਵਉ ॥
tan man arpa-o pooj charaava-o.
O’ God, I dedicate and offer my body and mind to You.
Ee Mungu, najiweka wakfu na kutoa mwili na akili yangu kwako Wewe.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਪਾਵਉ ॥੪॥
gur parsaad niranjan paava-o. ||4||
and thus by the Guru’s grace, I might realize You, the immaculate God. ||4||
na hivyo kwa neema ya Guru, niweza kukugundua Wewe, Mungu safi.

ਪੂਜਾ ਅਰਚਾ ਆਹਿ ਨ ਤੋਰੀ ॥
poojaa archaa aahi na toree.
O’ God, if your worship was possible only with these material things, then I could never have worshiped You.
Ee Mungu, iwapo ibada yako ingewezekana tu kwa vitu hivi vya kidunia, basi kamwe singewahi kukuabudu Wewe.

ਕਹਿ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਕਵਨ ਗਤਿ ਮੋਰੀ ॥੫॥੧॥
kahi ravidaas kavan gat moree. ||5||1||
Ravi Dass says, in that situation what would have been my condition. ||5||1||
Ravi Dass anasema, katika hali hiyo ni ipi ingekuwa hali yangu.

antar mal nirmal nahee keenaa baahar bhaykh udaasee.
What is the use of adorning the garb of a recluse on the outside, when one has not purified one’s filthy mind from within?
Kuna manufaa gani kwa kuvaa vazi la mpweke kinje, wakati mtu hajatakasa akili yake chafu ndani mwake?

ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕਮਲੁ ਘਟਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਕਾਹੇ ਭਇਆ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ॥੧॥
hirdai kamal ghat barahm na cheenHaa kaahay bha-i-aa sani-aasee. ||1||
If one has not realized God’s presence in the heart, then why did one become a sanyasi (detached person) at all? ||1||
Iwapo mtu hajagundua uwepo wa Mungu moyoni, basi kwa nini mtu alikuwa sanyasi (mtu aliyejitenga) hapo awali?
