ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਕਿਉ ਮੁਕਰਿ ਪਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
sabh kichh sundaa vaykh-daa ki-o mukar pa-i-aa jaa-ay.
God sees and hears everything (we do or say), so how can anyone can Him.
Mungu anaona na kusikia kila kitu (tunachofanya na kusema), basi mtu yeyote atawezaje kueleza Mungu.

ਪਾਪੋ ਪਾਪੁ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਪਾਪੇ ਪਚਹਿ ਪਚਾਇ ॥
paapo paap kamaavday paapay pacheh pachaa-ay.
This is why, those who continuously keep committing sins, get consumed by the sins themselves.
Hii ndio maana, wale wanaendelea kutenda dhambi bila mwisho, wanaangamizwa na dhambi hizo wenyewe.

ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
so parabh nadar na aavee manmukh boojh na paa-ay.
(Because of their sins) Those self-conceited persons do not understand it and therefore are not able to realize the presence of God.
(Kwa sababu ya dhambi zao) Watu hao wenye majivuno ya kibinafsi hawaelewi hiyo na hivyo basi hawawezi kugundua uwepo wa Mungu.

ਜਿਸੁ ਵੇਖਾਲੇ ਸੋਈ ਵੇਖੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੨੩॥੫੬॥
jis vaykhaalay so-ee vaykhai naanak gurmukh paa-ay. ||4||23||56||
O’ Nanak, that person alone sees God to whom He reveals Himself. And, such a person has completely submitted to the Guru with utmost reverence.
Ee Nanak , mtu huyo anayeona Mungu ni yule ambaye Mungu amejidhihirisha kwake. Na, mtu kama huyo amejiwasilisha kikamilifu kwa Guru kwa heshima kamili.

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਤੁਟਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਪੀੜ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
bin gur rog na tut-ee ha-umai peerh na jaa-ay.
Without following the guidance of the Guru, the painful disease of ego does not go away
Bila kufuata mwongozo wa Guru, ugonjwa mchungu wa ubinafsi hauendi.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਮੇ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
gur parsaadee man vasai naamay rahai samaa-ay.
By Guru’s Grace, God dwells in the heart, and one remains immersed in Naam.
Kwa neema ya Guru, Mungu anaishi moyoni, na mtu anabaki amezama katika Naam.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
gur sabdee har paa-ee-ai bin sabdai bharam bhulaa-ay. ||1||
It is through the Guru’s Word that one realizes God, and without the Guru’s teachings, one is lost in doubts and illusions.
Ni kwa kupitia Neno la Guru ambapo mtu anagundua Mungu, na bila mafundisho ya Guru, mtu anapotea katika shaka na ndoto.

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
man ray nij ghar vaasaa ho-ay.
O’ my mind, dwell in your real Home, your inner self.
Ee akili yangu, ishi katika nyumba yako ya kweli, nafsi yako ya ndani.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਤੂ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam naam saalaahi too fir aavan jaan na ho-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
(O’ my mind) Keep praising God by reciting Naam, so that you may not have to go through the process of coming and going (in and out of this world) again.
(Ee akili yangu) Endelea kumsifu Mungu kwa kukariri Naam, ndiposa usilazimike kupitia mchakato wa kuja na kuenda (ndani na nje ya dunia hii) tena.

ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
har iko daataa varatdaa doojaa avar na ko-ay.
The One God alone is the Giver, pervading everywhere. There is no other at all.
Mungu Mmoja pekee ndiye mtoaji, akienea kote. Hakuna mwengine hata mmoja.

ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
sabad saalaahee man vasai sehjay hee sukh ho-ay.
When praised through the Guru’s Word, He comes to abide in our hearts and we attain peace effortlessly.
Wakati anasifiwa kupitia Neno la Guru, Mungu anakuja kuishi mioyoni mwetu na tunapokea amani kwa urahisi.

ਸਭ ਨਦਰੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੈ ਦੇਇ ॥੨॥
sabh nadree andar vaykh-daa jai bhaavai tai day-ay. ||2||
Everything is within God’s Glance of Grace. As He wishes, He gives.
Kila kitu kipo ndani ya mtazamo wa neema wa Mungu. Anavyotaka, anatoa.

ਹਉਮੈ ਸਭਾ ਗਣਤ ਹੈ ਗਣਤੈ ਨਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
ha-umai sabhaa ganat hai gantai na-o sukh naahi.
It is because of egotism that we count all our good deeds and actions. And, because of this counting, we cannot attain peace.
Ni kwa sababu ya ubinafsi ambapo tunahesabu hatua na vitendo vyetu vyote vizuri. Na, kwa sababu ya kuhesabu huku, hatuwezi kupata amani.

ਬਿਖੁ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਬਿਖੁ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥
bikh kee kaar kamaavnee bikh hee maahi samaahi.
By doing deeds in ego, we are consumed by ego (poison) itself.
Kwa kufanya vitendo katika ubinafsi, tunaangamizwa na ubinafsi (sumu) wenyewe.

ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਠਉਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੀ ਜਮਪੁਰਿ ਦੂਖ ਸਹਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
bin naavai tha-ur na paa-inee jam pur dookh sahaahi. ||3||
Without recitation of Naam, they find no spiritual solace, stay entangled in vices and keep suffering due to the cycles of birth and death.
Bila kukariri kwa Naam, hawapati faraja ya kiroho, wanabaki wamenaswa katika dhambi na kuendelea kuteseka kutokana na mizunguko ya kuzaliwa na kufa.

ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਤਿਸੈ ਦਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
jee-o pind sabh tis daa tisai daa aaDhaar.
Body and soul all belong to Him; He is the Support of all.
Mwili na roho yote ni umiliki wake; Yeye ni nguzo ya yote.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਤਾ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
gur parsaadee bujhee-ai taa paa-ay mokh du-aar.
If through the Guru’s grace one understands, this fact, then one attains liberation from vices.
Iwapo kupitia neema ya Guru mtu aelewe, ukweli huu, basi mtu huyo anapata ukombozi kutoka dhambi.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੨੪॥੫੭॥
naanak naam salaahi tooN ant na paaraavaar. ||4||24||57||
O’ Nanak, sing the praises of Naam whose virtues are limitless.
Ee Nanak, imba sifa za Naam ambayo fadhila zake hazina vikomo.

ਤਿਨਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
tinaa anand sadaa sukh hai jinaa sach naam aaDhaar.
Those who have the Support of Naam, are in ecstasy and enjoy peace forever.
Wale ambao wana msaada wa Naam, wamo katika furaha kuu na wanafurahia amani milele.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
gur sabdee sach paa-i-aa dookh nivaaranhaar.
Through the Guru’s Word, they have realized the True One, who is capable of destroying all pain.
Kupitia Neno la Guru, wamegundua yule Mmoja wa kweli, ambaye ana uweza wa kuangamiza uchungu wote.

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
sadaa sadaa saachay gun gaavahi saachai naa-ay pi-aar.
Forever and ever, they sing the Glorious Praises of the True One and they love Naam dearly.
Daima na milele, wanaimba sifa tukufu za yule Mmoja wa Kweli na wanapenda Naam kwa dhati.

ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਿਤੋਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
kirpaa kar kai aapnee diton bhagat bhandaar. ||1||
God Himself has granted His Grace and bestowed upon them, the treasure of devotional worship.
Mungu mwenyewe ameruzuku neema yake na kutawaza kwao,, hazina ya ibada ya kujitolea.

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
man ray sadaa anand gun gaa-ay.
O’ my mind! Sing His Glorious Praises, and be in ecstasy forever.
Ee akili yangu! Imba sifa zake tukufu, na uwe katika furaha kuu milele.

ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sachee banee har paa-ee-ai har si-o rahai samaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Through the True Word, God is realized, and one remains fascinated with Him.
Kupitia Neno la Kweli, Mungu anagunduliwa, na mtu anabaki amevutiwa naye.

ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਲੁ ਥੀਆ ਰਤਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
sachee bhagtee man laal thee-aa rataa sahj subhaa-ay.
In true devotion, the mind is imbued in the deep crimson color of God’s Love, with intuitive peace and poise.
Katika ibada ya kweli, akili inajawa na rangi nyekundu ya kina ya upendo wa Mungu, amani angavu na utulivu.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
gur sabdee man mohi-aa kahnaa kachhoo na jaa-ay.
By reflection on the Guru’s Word, the mind gets so fascinated that the experience gained cannot be described.
Kwa kutafakari kuhusu Neno la Guru, akili inavutiwa zaidi hadi uzoefu unaopatwa hauwezi kuelezwa.

ਜਿਹਵਾ ਰਤੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਰਸਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
jihvaa ratee sabad sachai amrit peevai ras gun gaa-ay.
The tongue imbued with the True Naam, drinks the immortal nectar with delight, singing God’s Glorious Praises.
Ulimi ukijawa na Naam ya kweli, unakunywa nekta ya milele kwa furaha, ukiimba sifa tukufu za Mungu.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਹੁ ਰੰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
gurmukh ayhu rang paa-ee-ai jis no kirpaa karay rajaa-ay. ||2||
The follower of the Guru’s teachings obtains this love, when God, in His Will, grants His Grace.
Mfuasi wa mafundisho ya Guru anapokea upendo huu, wakati Mungu, katika Wasia wake, anaruzuku neema yake.

ਸੰਸਾ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
sansaa ih sansaar hai suti-aa rain vihaa-ay.
This world is an illusion; people pass their life-nights sleeping. (consumed by the pursuit of worldly temptations).
Dunia hii ni ndoto, watu wanapitisha maisha yao kama usiku wakilala. (wakijihusisha katika harakati za majaribio ya kidunia).

ਇਕਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਕਢਿ ਲਇਅਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਲਇਓਨੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
ik aapnai bhaanai kadh la-i-an aapay la-i-on milaa-ay.
By the Pleasure of His Will, He lifts some out, and unites them with Himself.
Kwa raha ya wasia wake, anainua wengine nje, na kuwaunganisha naye.

ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਇ ॥
aapay hee aap man vasi-aa maa-i-aa moh chukaa-ay.
He Himself comes to dwell in the mind by driving out Maya. (illusion of worldly attachment).
Yeye mwenyewe anakuja kuishi akilini mwao kwa kuondoa Maya. (ndoto ya viambatanisho vya kidunia).

ਆਪਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਦਿਤੀਅਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥੩॥
aap vadaa-ee ditee-an gurmukh day-ay bujhaa-ay. ||3||
He Himself grants them glory by conferring true realization upon them through the Guru.
Yeye mwenyewe anawaruzuku utukufu kwa kutunukisha utambuzi wa kweli kwao kupitia kwa Guru.

ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਭੁਲਿਆ ਲਏ ਸਮਝਾਇ ॥
sabhnaa kaa daataa ayk hai bhuli-aa la-ay samjhaa-ay.
God is the Supporter of all. He Himself corrects those who make mistakes.
Mungu ni msaidizi wa wote. Yeye mwenyewe anasahihisha wanaofanya makosa.

ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਇਅਨੁ ਦੂਜੈ ਛਡਿਅਨੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
ik aapay aap khu-aa-i-an doojai chhadi-an laa-ay.
He Himself has let some go astray (spiritually), by attaching them to duality.
Yeye mwenyewe amewacha wengine wapotoke (kiroho), kwa kuwaambatanisha na uwili.

ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
gurmatee har paa-ee-ai jotee jot milaa-ay.
By following the Guru’s Teachings, God is realized (duality vanishes) and one’s light merges into the Supreme Light (God).
Kwa kufuata mafundisho ya Guru, Mungu anagunduliwa (uwili unapotea) na mwanga wa mtu unaungana na Mwanga Mkuu (Mungu).

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਰਤਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੫੮॥
an-din naamay rati-aa naanak naam samaa-ay. ||4||25||58||
O’ Nanak, by always remaining imbued with love of God’s Name one merges in that Name itself.
Ee Nanak, kwa kubaki amejawa na upendo wa jina la Mungu daima mtu anaungana na jina hilo lenyewe.

ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

ਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
gunvantee sach paa-i-aa tarisnaa taj vikaar.
The meritorious soul-bride (who follows the Guru) has attained eternal God by shedding worldly desires and all vices.
Roho kama bi harusi yenye ustahili (anayefuata Guru) amepata Mungu wa milele kwa kuachana na hamu za kidunia na maovu yote.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਸਨਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
gur sabdee man rangi-aa rasnaa paraym pi-aar.
The mind (of the virtuous soul-bride) is imbued with the Word of the Guru and is in joy, reciting Naam with deep love and fervor.
Akili (ya roho kama bi harusi yenye fadhila) imejawa na Neno la Guru na imefurahi, kukariri Naam kwa upendo mkuu na hamaki.
