ਸੰਕਟਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਰੈ ਜੋਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਰੇ ॥
sankat nahee parai jon nahee aavai naam niranjan jaa ko ray.
God, whose Name is immaculate does not go through the womb and and is not afflicted by Maya.
Mungu, ambaye Jina lake ni safi zaidi hapitii kwenye tumbo la mama wala haathiriwi na Maya.

ਕਬੀਰ ਕੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਐਸੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਾਈ ਨ ਬਾਪੋ ਰੇ ॥੨॥੧੯॥੭੦॥
kabeer ko su-aamee aiso thaakur jaa kai maa-ee na baapo ray. ||2||19||70||
Kabir’s God is one who neither has father nor mother. ||2||19||70||
Mungu wa Kabir ni yule ambaye hana baba wala mama.

ਨਿੰਦਉ ਨਿੰਦਉ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਲੋਗੁ ਨਿੰਦਉ ॥
ninda-o ninda-o mo ka-o log ninda-o.
O’ people of the world, please slander me, yes slander me again and again.
Ee watu wa dunia, tafadhali nichongezeni, ndio nichongezeni tena na tena.

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਖਰੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
nindaa jan ka-o kharee pi-aaree.
Slander is truly dear to the devotees of God.
Uchongezi kwa kweli ni wa dhati kwa watawa wa Mungu.

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਬਾਪੁ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਮਹਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nindaa baap nindaa mehtaaree. ||1|| rahaa-o.
To the devotee slander is like his father and mother (who point out the faults to children to improve their character). ||1||Pause||
Kwa mtawa uchongezi ni kama mama na baba yake (ambaye anaashiria makosa kwa watoto ili kuimarisha silika yao). ||1||Sitisha||

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਇ ਤ ਬੈਕੁੰਠਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
nindaa ho-ay ta baikunth jaa-ee-ai.
When we are criticized we go to heaven. ( when faults are pointed out, we are able to correct our mistakes and we become virtuous).
Wakati tunakosolewa tunaenda mbinguni (wakati makosa yanaashiriwa, tunaweza kukosoa makosa yetu na tunakuwa wema).

ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਮਨਹਿ ਬਸਾਈਐ ॥
naam padaarath maneh basaa-ee-ai.
Then we enshrine the wealth of Naam in our heart.
Kisha tunaweza kuthamini utajiri wa Naam moyoni mwetu.

ਰਿਦੈ ਸੁਧ ਜਉ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
ridai suDh ja-o nindaa ho-ay.
If with clear conscience we objectively judge our criticism then we can become aware of our faults,
Iwapo kwa dhamiri safi tuhukumu ukosoaji wetu bila ubaguzi basi tunaweza kufahamu makosa yetu,

ਹਮਰੇ ਕਪਰੇ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਧੋਇ ॥੧॥
hamray kapray nindak Dho-ay. ||1||
and we can remove those faults, as if a slanderer washes our dirty clothes. ||1||
na tunaweza kuondoa makosa hayo, kana kwamba mchongezi anasafisha nguo zetu chafu.

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਹਮਰਾ ਮੀਤੁ ॥
nindaa karai so hamraa meet.
One who slanders me is my friend;
Yule anayenichongeza mimi ni rafiki wangu;

ਨਿੰਦਕ ਮਾਹਿ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਚੀਤੁ ॥
nindak maahi hamaaraa cheet.
The slanderer is always in my thought.
Mchongezi daima yupo katika fikira yangu.

ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਸੋ ਜੋ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਰੈ ॥
nindak so jo nindaa horai.
The real slanderer is the one who prevents me from being slandered.
Mchongezi wa kweli ni yule anayenizuia kutoka kuchongezwa.

ਹਮਰਾ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਲੋਰੈ ॥੨॥
hamraa jeevan nindak lorai. ||2||
because in the long run a slanderer embellishes my life. ||2||
kwa sababu mwishowe mchongezi anapamba maisha yangu.

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹਮਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
nindaa hamree paraym pi-aar.
My love for God becomes firm as I get slandered more and more.Therfore
Upendo wangu kwa Mungu unakuwa thabiti ninavyoendelea kuchongezwa zaidi. Hivyo basi

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹਮਰਾ ਕਰੈ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
nindaa hamraa karai uDhaar.
Slander saves me from committing sins.
Mchongezi ananiokoa kutoka kutenda dhambi.

ਜਨ ਕਬੀਰ ਕਉ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
jan kabeer ka-o nindaa saar.
Therefore slander is the best thing for Kabeer.
Hivyo basi mchongezi ni mzuri sana kwa Kabeer.

ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਡੂਬਾ ਹਮ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੩॥੨੦॥੭੧॥
nindak doobaa ham utray paar. ||3||20||71||
The slanderer has drowned and I have crossed over the worldly ocean of vices. ||3||20||71||
Mchongezi amezama nami nimevuka bahari ya kidunia ya dhambi.

ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਤੂੰ ਐਸਾ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਤਰਨ ਤਾਰਨ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raajaa raam tooN aisaa nirbha-o taran taaran raam raa-i-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, You are such a fearless all-pervading sovereign King that You can help the entire world to swim across the worldly ocean of vices. ||1||Pause||
Ee Mungu, Wewe ni Mfalme mwenyezi unayeenea kote na usiye na hofu kwamba unaweza kusaidia dunia nzima kuogelea ikivuka bahari ya kidunia ya dhambi. ||1||Sitisha||

ਜਬ ਹਮ ਹੋਤੇ ਤਬ ਤੁਮ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਬ ਤੁਮ ਹਹੁ ਹਮ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
jab ham hotay tab tum naahee ab tum hahu ham naahee.
When I was egoistic then You were not there within me. Now when You are within my mind, my ego has vanished.
Wakati nilikuwa na ubinafsi basi Wewe hukuwepo ndani mwangu. Sasa wakati upo ndani mwa akili yangu, ubinafsi wangu umepotea.

ਅਬ ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਏਕ ਭਏ ਹਹਿ ਏਕੈ ਦੇਖਤ ਮਨੁ ਪਤੀਆਹੀ ॥੧॥
ab ham tum ayk bha-ay heh aykai daykhat man patee-aahee. ||1||
Now You and I have become one and my mind is pleased with this union. ||1||
Sasa mimi na Wewe tumekuwa kitu kimoja na akili yangu imependezwa na muungano huu.

ਜਬ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੋਤੀ ਤਬ ਬਲੁ ਕੈਸਾ ਅਬ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਲੁ ਨ ਖਟਾਈ ॥
jab buDh hotee tab bal kaisaa ab buDh bal na khataa-ee.
When there is worldly wisdom, how could there be spiritual strength? Now when I have spiritual wisdom then temporal strength cannot prevail.
Wakati kuna busara ya kidunia, kungewezaje kuwa na nguvu ya kiroho? Sasa wakati nina hekima ya kiroho basi nguvu ya kidunia haiwezi kudumu.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਬੁਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੀ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਦਲੀ ਸਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥੨੧॥੭੨॥
kahi kabeer buDh har la-ee mayree buDh badlee siDh paa-ee.||2||21||72||
Kabir says, God has taken away my worldly wisdom and replaced it with the spiritual wisdom; I have attained the purpose of human life . ||2||21||72||
Kabir anasema, Mungu amechukua busara yangu ya kidunia na kuweka mahali pake hekima ya kiroho; nimetimiza kusudi la maisha ya binadamu.

ਗਉੜੀ ॥
ga-orhee.
Raag Gauree:

ਖਟ ਨੇਮ ਕਰਿ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਬਾਂਧੀ ਬਸਤੁ ਅਨੂਪੁ ਬੀਚ ਪਾਈ ॥
khat naym kar koth-rhee baaNDhee basat anoop beech paa-ee.
God fashioned the human body like a house which is supported by six round pillars and placed within it the incomparable thing, the divine light.
Mungu alitengeneza mwili wa binadamu kama nyumba ambayo inategemezwa na nguzo sita mviringo na kuweka ndani mwake kitu kisichokuwa na mfano wake, mwanga mtakatifu.

ਕੁੰਜੀ ਕੁਲਫੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਕਰਤੇ ਬਾਰ ਨ ਲਾਈ ॥੧॥
kunjee kulaf paraan kar raakhay kartay baar na laa-ee. ||1||
He gave the role of lock and key (watchman) of the house to the life breaths and in doing so, the Creator did not take much time. ||1||
Yeye alimpa jukumu la kufuli na funguo (bawabu) ya nyumba kwa pumzi za uhai na kwa kufanya hivyo, Muumba hakuchukua muda mrefu.

ਅਬ ਮਨ ਜਾਗਤ ਰਹੁ ਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
ab man jaagat rahu ray bhaa-ee.
O’ brother, Keep your mind awake and aware now.
Ee ndugu, weka akili yako iwe imeamka na katika ufahamu sasa.

ਗਾਫਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਕੈ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਓ ਚੋਰੁ ਮੁਸੈ ਘਰੁ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gaafal ho-ay kai janam gavaa-i-o chor musai ghar jaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By remaining careless you have so far wasted your life in worldly pursuits. It is as if thieves are robbing your house. ||1||Pause||
Kwa kubaki katika kutojali hadi wakati huu umeharibu maisha yako katika harakati za kidunia. Ni kana kwamba wezi wanapora nyumba yako. ||1||Sitisha||

ਪੰਚ ਪਹਰੂਆ ਦਰ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਨਹੀ ਪਤੀਆਰਾ ॥
panch pahroo-aa dar meh rahtay tin kaa nahee patee-aaraa.
These five watchmen (sensory organs) who guard the house (your body) cannot be trusted.
Bawabu hao watano (viungo vya hisi) wanaolinda nyumba (mwili wako) hawawezi kuaminiwa.

ਚੇਤਿ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਚਿਤ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੁ ਤਉ ਲੈ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਉਜਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
chayt suchayt chit ho-ay rahu ta-o lai pargaas ujaaraa. ||2||
Therefore you better remain alert and remember God, you would experience the illumination of His divine light. ||2||
Hivyo basi ni vyema ubaki mwangalifu na umkumbuke Mungu, utahiri mwangazo wa mwanga wake takatifu.

ਨਉ ਘਰ ਦੇਖਿ ਜੁ ਕਾਮਨਿ ਭੂਲੀ ਬਸਤੁ ਅਨੂਪ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
na-o ghar daykh jo kaaman bhoolee basat anoop na paa-ee.
The soul-bride who goes astray by improperly using the nine openings of the body (two ears, two eyes, two nostrils, mouth, sex and excretion organs), does not realize the divine light within her.
Roho kama bi harusi anayepotoka kwa kutumia vibaya mianzi tisa ya mwili (masikio mawili, macho mawili, mianzi miwili ya pua, mdomo, viungo vya ngono na kinyesi), hagundui mwanga mtakatifu ndani mwake.

ਕਹਤੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਨਵੈ ਘਰ ਮੂਸੇ ਦਸਵੈਂ ਤਤੁ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੩॥੨੨॥੭੩॥
kahat kabeer navai ghar moosay dasvaiN tat samaa-ee. ||3||22||73||
Kabir says, only when the nine openings come under control, then oneexperiences this divine light which is enshrined in the tenth gate. ||3||22||73||
Kabir anasema, wakati tu ambapo mianzi tisa inadhibitiwa, kisha mtu anahisi mwanga huu mtakatifu ambao unathaminiwa katika lango la kumi.

ਗਉੜੀ ॥

ਮਾਈ ਮੋਹਿ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਆਨਾਨਾਂ ॥
maa-ee mohi avar na jaani-o aanaanaaN.
O’ mother, I do not consider anyone else except God as the support of my life .
Ee mama, sifikirii yeyote ila Mungu kama tegemezo ya maisha yangu.

ਸਿਵ ਸਨਕਾਦਿ ਜਾਸੁ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਤਾਸੁ ਬਸਹਿ ਮੋਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਾਨਾਂ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
siv sankaad jaas gun gaavahi taas baseh moray paraanaanaaN. rahaa-o.
My breath of life (soul) resides in Him whose praises are sung even by angles like Shiva, Sanak and so many others. ||Pause||
Pumzi yangu ya uhai (roho) inaishi ndani mwake Yeye ambaye sifa zake zinaimbwa hata na malaika kama Shiva, Sanak na wengine wengi. ||Sitisha||

ਹਿਰਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਗਿਆਨ ਗੁਰ ਗੰਮਿਤ ਗਗਨ ਮੰਡਲ ਮਹਿ ਧਿਆਨਾਨਾਂ ॥
hirday pargaas gi-aan gur gammit gagan mandal meh Dhi-aanaanaaN.
Since the Guru has blessed me with spiritual wisdom, my heart has been illuminated with divine light and now my attention is fixed on the tenth gate.
Kwani Guru amenibariki na hekima ya kiroho, moyo wangu umeangazwa na mwanga mtakatifu na sasa umakini wangu umekaziwa kwa lango la kumi.

ਬਿਖੈ ਰੋਗ ਭੈ ਬੰਧਨ ਭਾਗੇ ਮਨ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਜਾਨਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
bikhai rog bhai banDhan bhaagay man nij ghar sukh jaanaanaa. ||1||
The afflictions of vices, fears and worldly bonds have vanished and my mind has realized peace within. ||1||
Magonjwa ya maovu, hofu na vifungo vya kidunia yamepotea na akili yangu imegundua amani ndani mwake.

ਏਕ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਰਤਿ ਜਾਨਿ ਮਾਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੂਸਰ ਮਨਹਿ ਨ ਆਨਾਨਾ ॥
ayk sumat rat jaan maan parabh doosar maneh na aanaanaa.
Imbued with sublime teachings of the Guru, I faithfully obey God’s command and do not let the thought about anybody else enter my mind.
Nikijawa na mafundisho tukufu ya Guru, natii amri ya Mungu kwa uaminifu na siachi fikira ya yeyote mwengine iingie akilini mwangu.

ਚੰਦਨ ਬਾਸੁ ਭਏ ਮਨ ਬਾਸਨ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਘਟਿਓ ਅਭਿਮਾਨਾਨਾ ॥੨॥
chandan baas bha-ay man baasan ti-aag ghati-o abhimaanaanaa. ||2||
Upon forsaking the yearnings of mind, my arrogance has vanished and the fragrance of Naam has prevailed within me. ||2||
Baada ya kuacha tamaa za akili, kiburi changu kimepotea na manukato ya Naam yamedumu ndani mwangu.

ਜੋ ਜਨ ਗਾਇ ਧਿਆਇ ਜਸੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਤਾਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੈ ਥਾਨਾਨਾਂ ॥
jo jan gaa-ay Dhi-aa-ay jas thaakur taas parabhoo hai thaanaanaaN.
One who sings and meditates on the Praises of God, comes to realize the presence of God within.
Yule anayeimba na kutafakari kuhusu Sifa za Mungu, anakuja kugundua uwepo wa Mungu ndani mwake.

ਤਿਹ ਬਡ ਭਾਗ ਬਸਿਓ ਮਨਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮਥਾਨਾਨਾ ॥੩॥
tih bad bhaag basi-o man jaa kai karam parDhaan mathaanaanaa. ||3||
One who has realized the presence of God within is considered very fortunate, that person has realized the great preordained destiny. ||3||
Yule ambaye amegundua uwepo wa Mungu ndani mwake anafikiriwa kuwa mwenye bahati mno, mtu huyo amegundua hatima kuu iliyoagiziwa mapema.

ਕਾਟਿ ਸਕਤਿ ਸਿਵ ਸਹਜੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਿਓ ਏਕੈ ਏਕ ਸਮਾਨਾਨਾ ॥
kaat sakat siv sahj pargaasi-o aykai ayk samaanaanaa.
I have broken the bonds of Maya; divine light has illuminated my heart and I am merged with God.
Nimevunja vifungo vya Maya; mwanga mtakatifu umeangaza moyo wangu na nimeungana na Mungu.
