ਜਬ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jab na ho-ay raam naam aDhara. ||1|| rahaa-o.
if we don’t have the support of God’s Name.||1||pause||
iwapo hatuna tegemezo ya Jina la Mungu. ||1||Sitisha||

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਖੋਜਉ ਅਸਮਾਨ ॥
kaho kabeer khoja-o asmaan.
Kabeer says, I have searched the entire world,
Kabeer anasema, nimetafuta duniani kote,

ਰਾਮ ਸਮਾਨ ਨ ਦੇਖਉ ਆਨ ॥੨॥੩੪॥
raam samaan na daykh-a-u aan. ||2||34||
but I have not seen another one like God. ||2||34||
lakihi sijaona mwengine kama Mungu.

ਜਿਹ ਸਿਰਿ ਰਚਿ ਰਚਿ ਬਾਧਤ ਪਾਗ ॥
jih sir rach rach baaDhat paag.
The head that one embellishes with a turban,
Kichwa ambacho mtu anapamba na kilemba,

ਸੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਚੁੰਚ ਸਵਾਰਹਿ ਕਾਗ ॥੧॥
so sir chunch savaareh kaag. ||1||
upon death, crows clean their beaks on that head. ||1||
baada ya kifo, kunguru wanasafisha midomo yao kwenye kichwa hicho.

ਇਸੁ ਤਨ ਧਨ ਕੋ ਕਿਆ ਗਰਬਈਆ ॥
is tan Dhan ko ki-aa garab-ee-aa.
O’ brother, why are you so proud of this body and worldly wealth?
Ee ndugu, kwa nini una fahari sana kuhusu mwili huu na utajiri wa kidunia?

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਾਹੇ ਨ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ੍ਹੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam naam kaahay na darirh-ee-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
why haven’t you enshrined God’s Name in your heart?”||1||pause||
kwa nini hujathamini Jina la Mungu moyoni mwako? ||1||Sitisha||

ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
kahat kabeer suno man mere.
Kabeer says, listen O my mind,
Kabeer anasema, sikiliza Ee akili yangu,

ਇਹੀ ਹਵਾਲ ਹੋਹਿਗੇ ਤੇਰੇ ॥੨॥੩੫॥
ihee havaal hohigay tayray. ||2||35||
this would be your fate as well after death! ||2||35||
hii itakuwa hatima yako pia baada ya kifo!

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkar satgur prasad.
One eternal God. Realized by the grace of the true Guru:
Mungu Mmoja wa milele. Anayegunduliwa kwa neema ya Guru wa kweli:

ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਂਗਤ ਦੁਖੁ ਆਗੈ ਆਵੈ ॥ ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਹਮਹੁ ਨ ਮਾਂਗਿਆ ਭਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
sukh maaNgat dukh aagai aavai.so sukh hamhu na maaNgi-aa bhaavai. ||1||
I would rather not beg for that worldly pleasure which later brings pain. ||1||
Afadhali nisiombe nipate raha ya kidunia ambayo baadaye inaleta uchungu.

ਬਿਖਿਆ ਅਜਹੁ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਖ ਆਸਾ ॥
bikhi-aa ajahu surat sukh aasaa.
People arestill attached to Maya and they hope to find happiness from it.
Watu bado wamejiambatisha kwa Maya na wanatumai kupata furaha kutoka kwake.

ਕੈਸੇ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaisay ho-ee hai raajaa raam nivaasaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Then how the sovereign God can come to reside in their mind?”||1||pause||
Basi Mungu mwenyezi anawezaje kuja kuishi akilini mwao? ||1||Sitisha||

ਇਸੁ ਸੁਖ ਤੇ ਸਿਵ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਡਰਾਨਾ ॥
is sukh tay siv barahm daraanaa.
Even Shiva and Brahma are afraid of this worldly pleasure,
Hata Shiva na Brahma wanaogopa hii raha ya kidunia,

ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਹਮਹੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੨॥
so sukh hamhu saach kar jaanaa. ||2||
but thw people have assumed these pleasures as true.||2||
lakini watu wamedhani raha hizi kuwa za kweli.

ਸਨਕਾਦਿਕ ਨਾਰਦ ਮੁਨਿ ਸੇਖਾ ॥
sankadik narad muni saykhaa.
Even Sanak and the other three sons of Brahma, Narada and Shesh-Naag,
Hata Sanak na wana wengine watatu wa kiume wa Brahma, Narada na Shesh-Naag,

ਤਿਨ ਭੀ ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਮਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਪੇਖਾ ॥੩॥
tin bhee tan meh man nahi paykhaa. ||3||
did not realize the true nature of the mind in their body. ||3||
hawakugundua hulka ya kweli ya akili katika mwili wao.

ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਕੋਈ ਖੋਜਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
is man ka-o ko-ee khojahu bhaa-ee.
O’ brothers, let someone search this mind (and try to find)
Ee ndugu, hebu mtu atafute akili hii (na ajaribu kupata)

ਤਨ ਛੂਟੇ ਮਨੁ ਕਹਾ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੪॥
tan chhootay man kahaa samaa-ee. ||4||
where the mind goes when it leaves the body. ||4||
ambapo akili inaenda wakati inaondoka kutoka kwa mwili.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜੈਦੇਉ ਨਾਮਾਂ ॥
gur parsadi jaiday-o naamaaN.
By the Guru’s Grace, the devotees like Jai Dev and Naam Dev
Kwa Neema ya Guru, watawa kama Jai Dev na Naam Dev

ਭਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਇਨ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥੫॥
bhagat kai paraym in hee hai jaanaaN.||5||
understood this secret through loving devotional worship. ||5||
Elewa siri hii kupitia ibada ya kujitolea kwa upendo.

ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਨਹੀ ਆਵਨ ਜਾਨਾ ॥
is man ka-o nahee aavan jaanaa.
The mind (soul) of that person is not cast in the cycles of birth and death,
Akili (roho) ya mtu huyo haitupwi katika mizunguko ya kuzaliwa na kufa,

ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥੬॥
jis kaa bharam ga-i-aa tin saach pachhaanaa. ||6||
whose doubt has been dispelled and has realized God. ||6||
ambaye shaka yake imeondolewa na amegundua Mungu.

ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖਿਆ ਕਾਈ ॥
is man ka-o roop na raykh-i-aa kaa-ee.
This mind (soul) has no form or feature.
Akili hii (roho) haina muundo au maumbile.

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੭॥
hukmay ho-i-aa hukam boojh samaa-ee. ||7||
By God’s will it came into this world as a human being and after realizing God, it merges back nto Him. ||7||
Kwa mapenzi ya Mungu ilikuja duniani humu kama binadamu na baada ya kugundua Mungu, inaunganishwa tena naye Mwenyewe.

ਇਸ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਨੈ ਭੇਉ ॥
is man kaa ko-ee jaanai bhay-o.
The person who realizes the mystery of the mind
Mtu anayegundua fumbo la akili

ਇਹ ਮਨਿ ਲੀਣ ਭਏ ਸੁਖਦੇਉ ॥੮॥
ih man leen bha-ay sukh-day-o. ||8||
becomes one with the peace giving God by merging within this mind itself. ||8||
anakuwa mmoja na Mungu anayetoa amani kwa kwa kuunganishwa ndani mwa akili yake yenyewe.

ਜੀਉ ਏਕੁ ਅਰੁ ਸਗਲ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥
jee-o ayk ar sagal sareeraa.
There is only one prime Soul which pervades all bodies and
Kuna Roho moja kuu pekee inayoenea miili yote na

ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੇ ਕਬੀਰਾ ॥੯॥੧॥੩੬॥
is man ka-o rav rahay kabeeraa. ||9||1||36||
it is this prime soul upon whom Kabir is contemplating.||9||1||36||
ni roho hii kuu ambayo Kabir anatafakari kuihusu.

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਏਕ ਨਾਮ ਜੋ ਜਾਗੇ ॥ ਕੇਤਕ ਸਿਧ ਭਏ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ahinis ayk naam jo jaagay. kaytak siDh bha-ay liv laagay. ||1|| rahaa-o. |
Countless people have achieved perfection, who day and night have remained awake and alert to the Name of God. ||1||pause||
Watu wasiohesabika wanatimiza ukamili, ambao mchana na usiku wamebaki wameamka na wako macho kwa Jina la Mungu. ||1||Sitisha||

ਸਾਧਕ ਸਿਧ ਸਗਲ ਮੁਨਿ ਹਾਰੇ ॥
saaDhak siDh sagal mun haaray.
The seekers, adepts, and sages exhausted themselves practicing their ways to cross the worldly ocean,
Watafuta, stadi na wahenga walijichosha wakitenda njia zao ili kuvuka bahari ya kidunia,

ਏਕ ਨਾਮ ਕਲਿਪ ਤਰ ਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
ayk naam kalip tar taaray. ||1||
but only God’s Name can carry people across the world-ocean like the mythical wish-fulfilling Kalap tree ||1||
lakini Jina la Mungu pekee linaweza kubeba watu kuvuka bahari-dunia kama mti wa Kalap wa kihadithi unaotimiza matakwa.

ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਹਿ ਨ ਆਨਾ ॥
jo har haray so hohi na aanaa.
Those who are spiritually rejuvenated by God, do not worship anyone else.
Wale ambao wamesisimuliwa kiroho na Mungu, hawaabudu yeyote mwengine.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥੨॥੩੭॥
kahi kabeer raam naam pachhaanaa. ||2||37||
Kabir says: They have realized God’s Name. ||2||37||
Kabir anasema: Wao wamegundua Jina la Mungu.

ਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਨਿਲਜ ਲਾਜ ਤੋੁਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
ray jee-a nilaj laaj tohi naahee.
O shameless mind, don’t you feel ashamed?
Ee akili isiyo na haya, kwani huhisi aibu?

ਹਰਿ ਤਜਿ ਕਤ ਕਾਹੂ ਕੇ ਜਾਂਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har taj kat kaahoo kay jaaNhee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
forsaking God, where and to whom you go to seek help ?||1||pause||
ukiacha Mungu, unaenda kutafuta usaidizi wapi na kwa nani? ||1||Sitisha||

ਜਾ ਕੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਊਚਾ ਹੋਈ ॥
jaa ko thaakur oochaa ho-ee.
One whose Master-God is the highest and most exalted,
Yule ambaye Bwana-Mungu wake ni wa juu zaidi na aliyeinuliwa zaidi,

ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਪਰ ਘਰ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਸੋਹੀ ॥੧॥
so jan par ghar jaat na sohee. ||1||
it is does not behoove him to go to others for any help. ||1||
haimstahili kuendea wengine kutafuta usaidizi wowote.

ਸੋ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
so saahib rahi-aa bharpoor.
O’ my mind, the Master-God is pervading everywhere.
Ee akili yangu, Bwana-Mungu anaenea kote.

ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ॥੨॥
sadaa sang naahee har door. ||2||
God is always with you and never far away. ||2||
Mungu daima yupo nawe na kamwe hayupo mbali.

ਕਵਲਾ ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨ ਹੈ ਜਾ ਕੇ ॥
kavlaa charan saran hai jaa kay.
God whose shelter even the goddess of wealth seeks.
Mungu ambaye hata mungu-kike wa utajiri anatafuta kificho chake.

ਕਹੁ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਘਰ ਤਾ ਕੇ ॥੩॥
kaho jan kaa naahee ghar taa kay. ||3||
O’ my friend!what could be lacking in the home of that God ?||3||
Ee rafiki wangu! Ni kipi kinaweza kukosekana nyumbani mwa Mungu huyo?

ਸਭੁ ਕੋਊ ਕਹੈ ਜਾਸੁ ਕੀ ਬਾਤਾ ॥
sabh ko-oo kahai jaas kee baataa.
One whose praises everyone sings
Yule ambaye sifa zake kila mtu anaimba

ਸੋ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥੁ ਨਿਜ ਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਦਾਤਾ ॥੪॥
so samrath nij pat hai daataa. ||4||
He is all-powerful, He is His Own Master and He is the only Giver. ||4||
Yeye ana nguvu zote, Yeye ni Bwana wake Mwenyewe na Yeye ndiye Mpaji wa pekee.

ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਜਗ ਸੋਈ ॥
kahai kabeer pooran jag so-ee.
Kabeer says, only that person is perfect in this world,
Kabeer anasema, mtu huyo pekee ni kamili duniani humu,

ਜਾ ਕੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੫॥੩੮॥
jaa kay hirdai avar na ho-ee. ||5||38||
in whose heart there is none other than God. ||5||38||
ambaye moyoni mwake hakuna mwengine ila Mungu.
